The Festival has now launched the programme for their reimagined 2021 Festival, live and outdoors in some of Edinburgh’s most historic and picturesque settings, with events that are diverse and inspiring, providing a joyful route back to live performance. 

Taking place from 7 to 29 August, the 2021 International Festival will use bespoke, temporary outdoor pavilions in iconic, easily accessible spaces throughout the city to safely reunite artists and audiences to rediscover the magic of live performance.

The temporary outdoor pavilions, found at three locations — Edinburgh Park, the University of Edinburgh’s Old College Quad and Edinburgh Academy’s junior school in the Inverleith area – will feature covered concert stages and socially distanced seating to create a beautiful setting for audiences to safely enjoy live music, opera and theatre once more. Read about the highlights of the programme HERE

What makes it special?

• The Edinburgh International Festival brings Edinburgh’s theatre venues to life with the very best music, theatre, opera and dance from around the globe. During a normal festival year, exciting performances take place over Edinburgh’s six major theatres and concert halls, a few smaller venues and often some unconventional ones too.
