January 27, 2022 – Low-cost carrier EasyJet has received Stage 1 accreditation from the International Air Transportation Association Environmental Assessment program, the carrier announced. It is the first non-IATA member to participate in the environmental management accreditation process, according to EasyJet.
The program is voluntary and aims to help organizations identify, manage, monitor and control their environmental issues “in a holistic manner.” It commits organizations to compliance with environmental obligations and to continually improve their environmental performance, according to the carrier.
EasyJet plans to work toward Stage 2 certification for this year. In 2021, the airline committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and setting an interim science-based target for 2035.
