November 24, 2021 – Iberia starts long-haul again for the summer.
Iberia’s contribution to economic recovery is to encourage travel, and it is offering an exceptionally wide choice of destinations and flights for the upcoming summer season. This is in keeping with the strategy it is pursuing this winter –more frequencies on traditional routes, and new destinations like Cali in Colombia, and the tropical Maldives islands. New routes in the summer will take the Spanish airline for the first time to Dallas and to Washington DC, while it resumes service to San Francisco, and adds frequencies to many overseas destinations.
Offensive in Latin America
Latin America is a key market for Iberia, and next summer it will be facilitating connections with more flights to and from European cities:
Mexico City will get especial attention in the April October period, with five additional weekly flights, for a total of 19.
Colombia has recently lifted restrictions of flights from Spain, and starting i9 February the airline will operate two daily flights to Bogotá, more than in pre-Covid times. On 2 December of this year it will resume service to the Colombian city of Cali, which will continue throughout the winter.
An many as four extra weekly flights to Buenos Aires this summer will bring the total to 12, and in the month of August to 14, dropping to 13 in September and October.
More Flights to More US Destinations
The USA is another key market for Iberia and even before restrictions on leisure travel were lifted, the airline was designing a winter programme restoring all its pre-pandemic destinations. For the summer it will add both frequencies and cities.
Iberia will fly 14 times a week to New York this summer, four more than this winter. It will also add four weekly flights to Miami, to fly twice a day.
Flights to Chicago in the March-October period will e raised from five to seven per week, and service to Boston will be expanded from three to six weekly flights, rising to seven from August to October. Iberia will fly five times a week to Los Angeles, up from the current three, rising to six weekly in August
In April the Spanish airline will make its maiden flights to Dallas and Washington DC with four weekly flights to each, At the same time it will resume direct Madrid-San Francisco flights, with a frequency of three times per week.
San Juan de Puerto Rico is part of the North Atlantic Joint Business Agreement amongst Iberia, American Airlines, British Airways, and Finnair. From April to August, Iberia will offer five flights a week from Madrid to the Caribbean island, one more than currently.
