October 19, 2022 –
After a five-month pause, American Airlines is relaunching service between Sydney (SYD) and Los Angeles (LAX), resuming a daily flight to connect citizens from Down Under to North American destinations. Departing Sydney 29 October, the route will coincide with the start of the 2022–23 winter flying season and caters to the increasing number of Australians looking to travel to Los Angeles, both as a destination and as a gateway to other parts of the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
“Over recent months, we’ve seen the demand for North American flights from Asia-Pacific growing in popularity and competition. We’re excited to return to Australia as a challenger airline, providing customers with great service, fares and experiences for a key market for American,” said Kyle Mabry, American’s Vice President of Operations and Commercial, EMEA & APAC.
American will operate its Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the SYD–LAX route, offering three cabins, including 30 Flagship® Business seats, 21 Premium Economy seats and 234 Main Cabin seats. American also offers codeshare service between SYD and LAX operated by oneworld alliance partner, Qantas.
