Azamara, has announced a new 155-day World Voyage for the line’s newest ship, Azamara Onward. Sailing January 5, 2024, from Port Everglades (Greater Fort Lauderdale), FL, the ship will take luxury travelers to 40 countries on six continents. The itinerary will include 22 overnight stays in port destinations, 27 late nights in port, and options for overnight land experiences.
Among Azamara’s 2024 World Voyage highlights are these: .
Great Wall of China. On this three-night overland excursion, travelers will visit Beijing and take a guided tour through the Forbidden city and Tiananmen Square, head out on a rickshaw ride through the “hutongs” or narrow alleys dating to the 16th century, and visit the Great Wall of China.
Great Pyramids of Giza: During a shore excursion, Azamara Onward’s guests will head for Cairo, Egypt’s largest city, and on to the Giza Plateau, home to the Great Pyramids, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence. An Egyptologist will guide guests through this mortuary complex to the Sphinx. In addition, travelers will explore other local sites such as the Museum of Antiquities and also cruise down the Nile river.
Chichén Itza, Mexico: On a shore trip, guests will fly over Caribbean waters and the Mayan Riviera’s tropical jungle to ancient Chichén Itza, where a tour guide will lead guests through the ruins and immerse travelers in tales of Mayan history and culture.
Petra, Jordan: Another Azamara shore excursion will transport guests for a walk through the Siq, the narrow, winding gorge that leads to the desert city of Petra, known as the “Rose Red City” for the color of stone from which it was carved. Petra is home to ancient royal tombs, a colonnaded street, and the Temple of Qasr al-Bint.
India’s Taj Mahal: During an immersive three-night land excursion, the line’s guests will take a flight to New Delhi for sunrise and sunset visits to the Taj Mahal. Guests will also explore Agra Fort, the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638, and I’timād-ud-Daulah tomb, the Taj Mahal’s precursor.
Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro: On a six-night land excursion, travelers will explore Rio de Janeiro,visit Corcovado to view the towering Christ the Redeemer statue, take a cable car ride to Sugarloaf Mountain’s summit and visit Iguazu Falls to see both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides of the one of the world’s largest waterfalls.
Colosseum in Rome, Italy: During a shore excursion, guests tour inside the Roman Colosseum, with a local guide explaining details and history about the 2000-year-old amphitheater that once seated up to 55,000 spectators.
