HG Hotels and Resorts has announced plans for its first Intercontinental property in the Balkan country of Montenegro.
InterContinental Resort Amma, Canj – Montenegro is set to open in the autumn of 2023, and will overlook the Adriatic Sea from its location on the Biserna Obala (Pearl Coast).
Facilities will include 198 rooms, a swimming pool, indoor and outdoor wellness facilities, a fitness centre, a spa with four treatment rooms and three saunas, “a world-class main restaurant”, a rooftop bar, club lounge, and meeting and events spaces including a ballroom.
IHG said that “The idyllic tourist town of Canj is located in southern Montenegro, one of Europe’s fast-growing luxury leisure markets thanks to its eye-catching coastline, sprawling beaches and easy access to Dubrovnik in southern Croatia”.
The Intercontinental property will join the luxury Regent Porto Montenegro, as well as Voco Podgorica and the forthcoming Holiday Inn Express Podgorica, as the fourth IHG-branded hotel in the country.
Last year luxury hotel brand One and Only Resorts announced plans to open its first European resort in Montenegro, located in the coastal town of Herceg Novi.
