Aer Lingus adds Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy) to its Euro destinations

Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus adds Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy) to its Euro destinations

December 16, 2022 –

Aer Lingus has unveiled a bumper 2023 summer schedule which will see it fly to 53 European destinations from Ireland, including three new exciting summer routes to Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy).

Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus also has over 2.25 million transatlantic seats on sale, making it the airline’s largest ever North American summer schedule to date. Next summer the airline will operate 15 routes from Ireland, including Cleveland for the first time and the return of Hartford, Connecticut. It will also operate two* direct transatlantic routes from Manchester to JFK and Orlando.

The summer 2023 schedule reflects the huge resurgence in leisure travel and the increasing demand for European sun destinations, particularly the Mediterranean. Aer Lingus is increasing its peak summer capacity to Malaga and Faro from both Cork and Dublin. It is also increasing capacity on other popular European routes including, Alicante, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Perpignan, Izmir, Bordeaux, and Athens from Dublin.

Tapping into Travel Trends

Industry insights reveal growing travel trends for 2023, with Forbes highlighting two interesting motivations for choice in 2023 – a feeling of familiarity when travelling as well as the quest to follow a path less travelled. Condé Nast Traveller’s fifth annual travel summit also reports very similar travel motivations for 2023, the key trends highlight people seeking experiences rather than destinations; solo travellers joining group trips with strangers; travellers splurging more than ever; and major interest in traveling to learn a new skill. Aer Lingus’ three new summer destinations will allow travellers to tap into these trends as each provides many different types of experiences to be enjoyed by those feeling wanderlust in 2023.

Summer 2023 is set to be a year of continuing resurgence in a post-pandemic world. As the demand for summer travel returned in force last year, as Irish consumers look to the skies after past summers of staycations. 2023 is forecasted to show strong demand for family favourite holiday destinations like Spain and Portugal which offer the comfort and reassurance of the familiar. Whereas younger generations seek adventure along the paths less travelled, like the streets of beautiful Brindisi and the sandy beaches of Sardinia. Popular booking website, Sky Scanner, also released research for 2023 stating that one in four are considering solo travel this year.

Europe for Summer

Greek Islands

What better destination for a summer experience than a sandy beach and beautiful views? Greek island Kos, new to Aer Lingus’ summer schedule, is steeped in rich culture and surrounded by warm, clear waters and is a perfect holiday destination. Island hoppers can also discover other popular Greek islands such as Corfu and Santorini this summer.

Culture Capitals

According to Glamour Magazine’s 2023 Travel Trends, travellers are also ready to buckle up and head to culture capitals of the world to whet their appetite for change. Aer Lingus is meeting this demand with two cultural destinations that won’t disappoint. Flying into Olbia in Sardinia, a town filled with medieval history and sandy beaches, this destination provides all the culture with a dash of beach escapism, the perfect balance! Taking a flight to Brindisi, a city steeped in history, holidaymakers can take in beautiful scenery of both sea and city views of the Apulia region.

Sun-seekers are encouraged to book early to get the best value and ensure their spot on these highly sought-after flights. Aer Lingus will commence twice weekly flights to the new destinations starting with Kos and Olbia from May and Brindisi from June.

North America Milestone

Looking to North America, Aer Lingus will have a bumper 2.25 million seats on sale for Summer 2023, making it a record schedule in its history of flying across the Atlantic. In peak summer Aer Lingus will deploy its full Airbus A330 fleet and A321neo LR aircraft on the Atlantic, enabling Aer Lingus to offer 20% more seats from Ireland to the North America than 2019.

Key favourites Boston, New York JFK, Chicago and Washington D.C will operate double-daily from Dublin during peak summer; new route Cleveland, Ohio will commence in May; and Hartford, Connecticut will resume in March for the first time since the pandemic. Aer Lingus will operate a total of 15* North American routes from Ireland next summer.

Speaking about the Summer 2023 Schedule, Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer said,

‘’Demand for European sun destinations is at an all-time high post-pandemic, with European sun high on everyone’s wish list, so Aer Lingus is delighted to announce increases across our European schedule to the most sought after, trendsetting European destinations this summer.

We have three very exciting brand-new destinations on offer in Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy), which our customers are sure to love exploring this summer. We’re seeing a big appetite for travel and our ambitious expansion into North America continues with Cleveland and Hartford services beginning, making our summer transatlantic schedule a record breaker with 2.25 million seats on sale.’’

Museum Saka

Ayana Estate to open Museum Saka in March 2023

Museum Saka

Ayana Estate to open Museum Saka in March 2023

December 15 2022

AYANA Estate announced the opening of Museum Saka – a carefully curated space to showcase and celebrate art expressions that reflect the beautiful interactions of Balinese culture, mystic, and religion – in March 2023. The museum takes Nyepi, a Balinese Day of Silence, which is unique only to Bali, as its theme. Nyepi is considered to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful nights in Bali where pollution level drops and the sky is very clear that the Milky Way can be seen to the naked eye. This has been an inspiration for the museum to be a meditative space with its star-spangled ceiling and calling ambience. For the opening, the museum will boast a sizable collection of large effigies of Balinese mythical beings, ‘Ogoh-ogoh’, a contemporary community-based art that would otherwise only be seen and enjoyed once a year as part of Balinese Day of Silence processions.

Museum Saka

Located in the heart of AYANA Estate in Jimbaran, the 5,000 square meters’ museum houses eight different galleries, an archive and library area, a screening room, a café, and a curated merchandise store. The key collection of the museum will highlight ten of Ogoh-ogoh from prominent local artists, including works of Kedux and Gusman Surya. “Presenting ogoh-ogoh in its contemporary expression but as a messenger that is deeply rooted in Balinese culture, will allow visitors to be immersed in the feeling and vibrancy of the Nyepi processions. Ogoh-ogoh are created communally by the island’s youth. The creation activities showcase Balinese spirit to preserve arts and culture,” said Marlowe Bandem, a renowned Balinese culture archivist. Marlowe is a part of the museum’s expert committee responsible for museum’s curation. Other esteemed members are Professor I Made Bandem, Bruce Carpenter, James Bennett and Farah Wardani.

The word ‘Saka’ means pillar in Balinese and denotes the ideals of the museum as a strong foundation to support the advancement of Bali art and cultural expression. Saka also refers to the Balinese Saka calendar, and the role the museum will serve to connect past and present Bali and give visitors an experience that transcends time and space.

Museum Saka forms an intrinsic part of the integrated luxury AYANA Estate aimed at enhancing guests’ experiences by offering a unique Balinese art and culture experience. It is supporting AYANA Estate’s identity as a microcosm that provides insights into the mysticism of Bali as well as a must-visit destination of its own.

“As the largest integrated resort in Bali, AYANA Estate is responsible for being the frontrunner in promoting and celebrating the Balinese culture of all of our guests of national and international community. We have been doing so by intertwining Balinese influence on our resorts’ architecture, interior, and our legendary Balinese hospitality. This will then be significantly elevated with the presence of Museum Saka,” said Michi Sonoda, executive assistant manager, Sales and Marketing, AYANA Estate.

Free for guests and open to the public, Museum Saka offers guests an unrivaled meditative space all year long, immersing the senses in artistic marvels, lush landscapes and architectural wonders. It is also geared towards hosting events and receptions in its indoor and outdoor area as well as providing exciting events, performance, workshops and other creative programs for kids and adults.

Leading up to the opening, Museum Saka will invite leading voices in Bali’s traditional and contemporary arts to support Saka to become a world-class museum destination in Bali.

Radisson RED Liverpool

Radisson RED Liverpool brings its buzz to iconic heritage building

Radisson RED Liverpool

Radisson RED Liverpool brings its buzz to iconic heritage building

December 14, 2022 –

The first Radisson RED hotel in the North of England has arrived in Liverpool. Located in a thoughtfully renovated Grade II-listed property that first opened as one of the original British railway hotels in the 1800s

Radisson RED Liverpool

Radisson RED Liverpool blends history, legacy, and eclectic design as it arrives in this lively city. The hotel is also a culinary destination thanks to its modern barbecue and robata grill restaurant, Stoke. It offers classic dishes with a grilled twist paired with unrivalled views of the neoclassical architecture and acclaimed concert venue of St George’s Hall, as well as overlooking the city’s cultural district

Radisson RED Liverpool iconic building – previously known as Northern Western Hall – dates back to 1871 and is located next to, and connected with, Liverpool Lime Street train station. The hotel was originally designed by locally-born Alfred Waterhouse – the architect behind London’s Natural History Museum and Manchester Town Hall – as one of the British Transport Hotels, offering direct links to the neighboring railway station. From the 1930s, the building was largely unused except for student accommodation in the 1990s.

The extensive renovation works saw the restoration of a nineteenth century stained glass window and a grand sandstone staircase. Stained glass experts were enlisted to reconstruct the six-meter-high window above the staircase to fill the atrium with natural light and offer a focal point for guests as they arrive through the main entrance. More than 792 hours were spent refurbishing the grand staircase and world-renowned polishers added the finishing touches to the 94-meter handrail. The building’s unmissable turrets and spires – original features from the 1800s – have also been restored to enhance the hotel’s grandeur.

The 10-storey hotel includes 201 guest rooms and suites, some overlooking St George’s Hall, featuring Radisson RED’s signature design-focused, bold, cutting-edge design. A 1960s-style scooter and sidecar as well as a submarine sculpture can be found in the hotel, in honor of the city’s famous music scene and, arguably the city’s most famous export, The Beatles. Bespoke art pieces created by local artist Indigo Art are found in guest rooms and around the hotel, paying homage to Liverpool’s best-known faces, buildings, and culture, including an iconic image of The Beatles crossing London’s Abbey Road. Additional artworks include depictions of local landmarks and hand drawn illustrations in red, added to black and white photographs, such as an image of the Liver Bird, the city’s symbol that appears on its coat of arms and sits atop the Royal Liver Building.

Famed music and entertainment venues such as the Empire Theatre and St George’s Hall are on the hotel’s doorstep, while the famous Royal Albert Dock, retail and leisure destination Liverpool ONE, and vibrant nightlife are close by, making Radisson RED Liverpool the ideal base from which to explore the city. Radisson RED Liverpool

Destination restaurant Stoke takes center stage on the ground floor of the hotel, offering diners a menu focused on ‘farm-to-fork’ cuisine working with local suppliers, including an 800g 38-day dry aged and grass-fed ribeye, Dover sole with seasonal herbs, and whole roasted chicken, as well as plenty of vegetarian options such as sticky barbeque maitake mushrooms and truffle arancini. The restaurant also features an open kitchen and robata grill.

Guests can work out at the in-house gym featuring the latest fitness equipment, or find the perfect space for a meeting, event, or celebration. Radisson RED Liverpool has five meeting rooms on the lower ground floor for up to 50 people for private events, as well as a more intimate private dining room with views over St George’s Hall that can accommodate up to 8 people.

Tom Flanagan Karttunen, Area Senior Vice President, Northern & Western Europe at Radisson Hotel Group, says: “The Radisson RED brand and the city of Liverpool are the perfect match, both representing fun and vibrancy with strong links to music, art, and design. The building has undergone an incredible transformation. It’s one of the first buildings that visitors to the city will see when they arrive so we’ve worked hard to create an unforgettable experience for both locals and tourists.”

Gary Waring, General Manager at Radisson RED Liverpool, said: “The opening of Radisson RED Liverpool and the building’s renovation have been greatly anticipated across the city for some time and we’re thrilled to finally reveal the finished look. Liverpool is an incredibly unique place and we’ve worked hard to reflect this throughout the hotel, paying tribute to local icons and giving a nod to the building’s rich heritage. Bringing an exciting food and drink venue to the city was also a key priority. We are looking forward to welcoming guests and creating a real must-visit destination.”

The Radisson RED brand has a presence in other UK locations, including the multi-award-winning Radisson RED Glasgow and the all-new Radisson RED London Heathrow. Radisson RED Liverpool

InterContinental Kaohsiung brings smart luxury to Taiwan’s south

Situated next door to Kaohsiung’s 5G Development Area, International Airport, Port Cruise Terminal, and the International Exhibition Center, and a short stroll away from harbour bay, the brand-new InterContinental Kaohsiung offers a smart luxury experience for leisure and business travellers.

InterContinental Kaohsiung

HG Area General Manager of Taiwan, Robbert Manussen says, “We’re very optimistic about the growth prospects in southern Taiwan. The local government’s efforts have resulted in a dynamic and attractive city, and we see business travel increasing as companies like Amazon, Microsoft, TSMC, and Foxconn are setting up shop down here.”

In addition to gaining traction for its high-quality offerings, InterContinental Kaohsiung keeps focusing on its sustainability work. With Porsche hybrid limousines; building a farm-to-fork eco-friendly system by composting food waste; adjusting energy consumption, and recyclable amenities, the hotel makes decisions that benefit local communities and respond to global climate change.

As a luxury brand within the IHG family, InterContinental Kaohsiung combines its global presence, etiquette, and standards with local cultural wisdom. Over the first opening year, InterContinental Kaohsiung also won recognition from global awards as the best boutique hotel in Asia, the best luxury design hotel, the best architecture design for the sustainable platinum winner, and the best Asian cuisine global winner, etc.

Modern travellers’ demands for personalization are also reflected in the IHG loyalty member system. InterContinental Kaohsiung is one of more than 6,000 hotels where customers can earn points and redeem awards through the relaunched IHG One Rewards program, which allows members to redeem personalized benefits tailored to their preferences and needs. Meanwhile, the IHG Business Rewards enables businesses to earn points for each booked accommodation, meeting, or event. By choosing hotels within the business rewards program, you can even gather points and use them to organize your company’s end-of-the-year outing for free.”

Christmas markets

Top ten unusual Christmas markets around the world

Christmas markets

Top ten unusual Christmas markets around the world

From life sized gingerbread houses to floating ice rinks, travel experts have named the top ten Christmas markets for tourists to visit around the world – and two of them are in the UK. Experts at luxury cruise company, Panache Cruises have researched the ten most unusual Christmas markets around the world which visitors can explore.

Christmas markets

From candy cane Christmas trees to real-life gingerbread houses, there are some incredible attractions on offer at festive markets across the globe for travel lovers to explore. Some of the most unusual include floating market stalls in The Netherlands, and the opportunity to experience a walk back in time to a Victorian Christmas in California.

James Cole, founder and managing director of Panache Cruises said: “Christmas markets are a fantastic way to enjoy the festive season and there are some incredible ones for travellers who are prepared to explore that little bit further. “Some cities around the world really take their Christmas markets to the max – in Toronto they have a life-size gingerbread house you can actually walk around and in The Netherlands there is a massive market in caves underneath the city’s castle ruins. “There are also some unusual markets in the UK too: York offers a haunted tour of the ghosts of Christmas past, and Edinburugh has a massive Street of Light which illuminates across the whole city.

“You can really get into the festive spirit by exploring some of the most unusual Christmas markets different countries around the world have to offer.”

Leiden, The Netherlands – The Markets on Water
Leiden’s famous floating Christmas market is rated one of the best year on year. On top of the city’s oldest canal is where visitors will find boats filled with almost 100 stalls selling food, drinks and handmade gifts. There is even a floating ice rink and regular stage performances. Just 30 minutes away from Amsterdam, Leiden’s market on water is one of the most unique Christmas activities to visit.

Gardens by the Bay, Singapore – Candy Cane Christmas Tree
Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay attracts millions of visitors each year to visit the Christmassy displays. Magnificent light sculptures cover the park and an ice cave home to impressive floral ice sculptures. But one of the most popular attractions at the gardens during the festive period is the so-called candy cane Christmas tree. Decorated in red and white poinsettia flowers the tree stands at eight metres tall and six metres wide, bringing Christmas to Singapore in a spectacular way.

Toronto, Canada – Life-size Gingerbread House
Those in Toronto know Christmas is coming when the city’s lifesize gingerbread house is put up at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Consisting of almost 9000 gingerbread bricks, visitors can actually walk through the two-storey gingerbread display and fight the temptation to have a nibble on the walls. There are also market stalls selling crafts, foods and drinks to check out too to fill visitors with Christmas joy and delicious treats.

NYC, USA – Winter Village Igloos
The Bank of America Winter Village is one of the most jam-packed Christmas markets in the world. With a 17,000-square-foot ice skating rink is completely free to use, over 170 glasshouse market stalls to explore, the opportunity to try out iceless curling and best of all, cosy igloo for private hire to truly feel like a winter wonderland experience served with gourmet food and drinks

Valkenburg, The Netherlands – Underground Cave Markets
Valkenburg is home to Europe’s largest underground Christmas market. The caves are underneath the city’s castle ruins and are filled with festive market stalls, spectacular decorations, life-size nativity sculptures and Christmas trees. The caves are turned into an extraordinary underground winter wonderland over the festive season.

California, USA – A Victorian Christmas
Although more of a common sight in Britain, a Victorian Christmas has made its way to the west coast of America, with a Charles Dickens theme to it. The Dickens Fair offers visitors a step back in time with theatres, pubs, shops, stalls and music halls. With regular entertainment shows acting out Dickens’ stories, the Fair is a wonderful place to explore a Victorian-themed Christmas.

Bariloche, Argentina – The ‘Little Switzerland’ in South America
The city of Bariloche is tucked away in the Andes and has been called the ‘Little Switzerland’ of Argentina. Wooden huts, ski resorts, bar cabins and chocolate shops adorn the streets to make this South American city feel like a snowy European destination. Picturesque landscapes make visitors feel as though they really are experiencing Christmas in the Swiss Alps.

Bondi Beach, Australia – Christmas in the Sun
A Christmas in summertime is not what a usual festive image is, but for Australians, Christmas in the sun is the norm. Visiting the Bondi Beach Christmas markets is a completely different festive experience for many of us. With shorts instead of coats and flip flops instead of gloves, the market stalls line the seafront selling food, drinks and handcrafted gifts.

Edinburgh, Scotland – The Street of Light
With the backdrop of the historic 900 year old castle, Edinburgh knows how to put on a fantastic Christmas market. With rides, food, crafts, drinks and activities for visitors, the city also hosts a virtual Christmas market for those who can’t travel to Scotland. One of the interesting parts of the market is the 60,000 lights installation along the ‘Street of Light’ – a colourful kaleidoscope of festive lights and lasers is one of the best light shows in the world.

York, England – The Ghosts of Christmas Past Tour
York is often named the most haunted city in the world – and for Christmas visitors to the city, a festive ghost tour is a must-do. Certainly one of the most unusual Christmas activities, the walking ghost tour takes two hours and tells many haunted December stories along the way about the ghosts of Christmas past. And no trip to York at Christmas time is complete without a visit to the markets to offer a wonderful wintery experience before the haunted nighttime falls.

The Glamorous Spirit and Celebrated Traditions of St. Regis in Jakarta

December 07, 2022 –

St. Regis Hotels and Resorts, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary brands, today announced the highly anticipated opening of The St. Regis Jakarta. Born from the distinct legacy of one of the world’s most storied luxury brands, The St. Regis in Jakarta will offer guests and local luminaries a new viewpoint on sophisticated dining, bespoke service and avant-garde design in the heart of the city’s Kuningan, Sudirman and Thamrin central business districts.

St. Regis in Jakarta

“We are delighted to expand our brand presence in Indonesia with the debut of The St. Regis Jakarta, our second property in this vibrant country,” said George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “The St. Regis brand’s founding family, the Astors, were known as visionaries of their time, embracing change and innovation while maintaining a strong sense of history and heritage. It is in this spirit that we welcome guests to enjoy The St. Regis in Jakarta, and we look forward to providing impeccable service and exquisite experiences in Indonesia’s capital city.”

The hotel is situated within the Golden Triangle of Jakarta, which extends from Central to South Jakarta and is one of the fastest-evolving central business districts in the Asia Pacific region. The St. Regis Jakarta is ideally located within an exclusive enclave comprised of foreign embassies, government, and commercial spaces as well as upscale retail, and is an easy 45-minute drive from Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

“When we think about luxury, we think about a legacy of shared memories that transcends generations. Our aspiration is for the St. Regis Jakarta to be that theatre of memories and a theatre of culture where the symphony of Indonesia’s cultural refinements – design, music, and art – creates extraordinary spaces for the next-gen and multi-gen connections, conversations, and celebrations,” said Shirley Tan, Chief Executive Officer, Rajawali Property Group.

Every St. Regis hotel celebrates the culture and identity of its destination, and the design of The St. Regis Jakarta, conceptualized by the award-winning New York-based interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud, was inspired by Indonesia’s rich musical traditions. Embracing music and performance as a catalyst for personal experience forms the narrative of the hotel, and guests are greeted in the lobby by a kinetic chandelier titled “Sound of Light,” which was created by celebrated Czech glassmaker LASVIT and is synchronized with music by Indonesian composer Andi Rianto. The installation produces a shimmering light that dances across surfaces and spaces, showcasing the distinctive soundscapes of Indonesia and creating a glamorous welcome for arriving guests. Outdoor spaces, including the hotel’s entrance and swimming pool, feature artworks by renowned landscape architect Bill Bensley, with the theme of “Discovery.”

The St. Regis in Jakarta features 282 exquisitely appointed guest rooms, including 28 spacious suites ranging from 75 to 187 square meters, each featuring a private balcony. Meticulously created by the renowned G.A. Design team, the guest rooms reflect contemporary luxury and feature thoughtful touches throughout, such as custom-made cushions accented with embedded batik motifs by Indonesian designer, Iwan Tirta. Guests will also enjoy the St. Regis Butler Service, a personalized signature offering that has been a hallmark of the brand for more than a century, ensuring that each guest’s individual preferences are understood and anticipated at every turn.

Exceptional culinary journeys are presented through the hotel’s distinct culinary venues. The Drawing Room, located near the arrival lobby, is an elegant all-day lounge where guests can experience the signature traditions of St. Regis, such as Afternoon Tea and Champagne sabrage. The all-day dining Bel Étage celebrates Indonesia’s multicultural heritage with a collection of Indonesian dishes along with western, Asian, and Pan-Asian cuisines, from timeless classics to the chef’s personal recipes. Located in the heart of the hotel, Rosé is a deli where guests can enjoy artisanal coffees, teas, pastries, and cold cuts in a casual setting. The Pool Bar is a quiet spot that invites escape from the rush of urban life. The hotel’s signature St. Regis Bar, unique and different at every St. Regis hotel around the world, features a striking mural by Indonesian artist Eddy Susanto, which captures the interactive inspirations between art and jazz, and correlates the rhythm, energy, and spirit of the historical development of jazz in Indonesia.

The St. Regis Bar also presents the hotel’s unique twist on the brand’s signature libation, the Bloody Mary, which was created at The St. Regis New York. The Batavia Mary, which reflects the old colonial name for Jakarta and was once the capital of the archipelago’s spice trade, features a local rice wine spiced with chili and tangy vinegar and was inspired by the bold flavors of Indonesian cuisine. The St. Regis Bar also features an inspired list of cocktails from the House of Astor in New York and The Violet Hour Ritual, where guests are invited to discover a collection of martinis served from a bespoke trolley, including the bewitchingly-named Violet Hour, Flame of Love and Poet’s Dream martinis.

With more than 2,500 square meters of dedicated event spaces, the hotel makes the perfect venue for cherished celebrations, gatherings, and meetings. The Astor Ballroom, with a capacity of more than 1,000 people, features a magnificent LASVIT ceiling masterpiece which depicts the mountains of Indonesia. The Caroline Astor Ballroom, the hotel’s junior ballroom, includes its own reception area and private dressing room.

The St. Regis in Jakarta Spa is a sanctuary of refined relaxation and offers revitalizing treatments based on a philosophy of “New Life and Fertility” with ingredients from the volcanic mountains of Java. The spa offers a menu of signature treatments as well as OxyGeneo® facial treatments for rejuvenated, fresh, and healthy skin. To complement guests’ health and fitness goals, the hotel also offers a Fitness Centre with the latest Technogym equipment, professional personal training sessions, and scheduled group exercise classes.

“The opening of The St. Regis in Jakarta is the latest chapter in the marvelous history of St. Regis, unveiling the best address where Jakarta’s luminaries can gather for private teas, midnight suppers, and glamorous galas in this vibrant city,” said Marc Handl, General Manager, The St. Regis Jakarta. “We are looking forward to serving our guests in the finest of these traditions, beautifully complemented by exceptional Indonesian spirit, style and hospitality.”

MSC Seascape – World’s newest cruise ship arrives in New York City

MSC Seascape – World’s newest cruise ship arrives in New York City

December 06, 2022 –

The world’s newest cruise ship lit up the pre-dawn sky this morning when MSC Cruises’ new U.S. flagship—MSC Seascape—sailed past the Statue of Liberty and up the Hudson River to dock at Pier 88 at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

MSC Seascape

MSC Seascape is one of the largest cruise ships ever to dock in Manhattan, at more than 170,000 gross tons with a capacity of 5,877 guests. She is also one of the more environmentally advanced cruise ships at sea, featuring a wide range of latest generation environmental technologies and solutions.

MSC Seascape’s arrival in New York marks the end of a 17-day journey from the shipyard where she was built in Italy.

The ship is in New York for a traditional maritime Naming Ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday evening and include wishes of good luck for her many future sailings from Hollywood legend and celebrated Godmother of the MSC Cruises fleet Sophia Loren. The ceremony will conclude with the customary breaking of a bottle of champagne against her hull.

MSC Cruises, which is part of the Geneva, Switzerland-based Cruise Division of MSC Group, chose New York for MSC Seascape’s Naming Ceremony to celebrate the brand’s growing commitment to the U.S. market and upcoming launch of service from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, which will result in local job creation with MSC Meraviglia operating year-round on a variety of itineraries covering Florida, The Bahamas, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, and New England.

Rubén A. Rodríguez, President, MSC Cruises USA, said: “We have ambitious growth plans in the U.S. and New York City plays a critical role in that expansion. We already host a large number of guests from the tri-state area on our ships sailing from Florida and around the world, and we are excitedto bring a modern and glamorous ship like MSC Meraviglia to New York next year to give cruisers a wide choice of itineraries, whether they’re looking for sunny Caribbean skies or Canada’s beautiful autumns. Having the brand new MSC Seascape here this week is our way of celebrating a fantastic future of cruising for New York City.”

MSC Seascape will depart New York on Thursday en route to Miami, where she will offer two different 7-night itineraries for her inaugural season in the Caribbean:

Eastern Caribbean: Calling at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and Nassau in The Bahamas, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic
Western Caribbean: Calling at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Cozumel in Mexico, George Town in the Cayman Islands and Ocho Rios in Jamaica
MSC Cruises is the world’s third largest and the fastest growing cruise brand. Its fleet of 21 modern and highly innovative cruise ships is deployed globally and calls at more than 150 destinations across 70 different countries and five continents. Each year, MSC Cruises ships welcome over four million guests from more than 170 nationalities.

Latest and Most Advanced Environmental Technology
The Cruise Division of MSC Group is committed to building some of the most innovative cruise ships in the world, and this innovation also applies to environmental performance. With a long-term objective to achieve net carbon neutral operations by 2050, each new ship represents another step toward this goal, alongside other investments to help accelerate the development of next-generation environmental technology. MSC Seascape is no exception and features the latest-generation environmental technologies and equipment that will minimise their impact. This includes hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) and cutting-edge selective catalytic reduction systems (SCR), achieving a 98% reduction of sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions and reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 90%. The wastewater treatment system has been designed in line with the International Maritime Organization’s MEPC 227(64) Resolution and achieve purification standards that are higher than most wastewater treatment facilities ashore
