Belmond Announces Renovation of Iconic Splendido Hotel in Portofino

January 25, 2023 – Splendido Hotel

Following the refurbishments of Spendido Mare, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino in 2021 and Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya, reopening in May 2023 – Belmond is delighted to announce the renovation of Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino.

Splendido Hotel

An emblem of Portofino’s allure since the 1950s, the grand dame hotel will undergo a multi-phase renovation by internationally-renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, with the first phase complete in June 2023.

MARTIN BRUDNIZKI: THE RESTORATION OF AN ICON

“Splendido is a true icon and so our approach to the renovation project was similar to that of a portrait painter – creating a design centered on the building and one that is as much a restoration, as a rejuvenation,” says Martin Brudnizki, founder of Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. MBDS is an internationally acclaimed interior architecture and design studio based in London and New York, known for innovative projects across the world for clients such as The Royal Academy of Arts and Daniel Boulud.

JUNE 2023: A REIMAGINED POOL AREA, RESTAURANT & BARONESSA SUITE

Taking place over several years, the team will undertake a meticulous restoration of the former 16th-century Benedictine monastery, honouring the history of the building, while sensitively injecting contemporary relevance. Over the course of each summer reopening, the hotel will unveil brand new spaces, with the first reveal taking place in June 2023. This will include a renovated pool area and new intimate, family villa dining experience at The Pool Grill restaurant, as well as the complete redesign of the Baronessa Suite. Inspired by the noble Palazzos of the region, the elevated accommodation offering will blend the rich tradition and storytelling of the Italian Riviera, with contemporary comfort and elegance.

Atlantis The Royal

Atlantis The Royal should be the world’s first official six-star hotel

Atlantis The Royal

Atlantis The Royal should be the world’s first official six-star hotel

January 25, 2023 – Atlantis The Royal

If Atlantis The Royal signifies the next chapter of Dubai hospitality, a new classification would recognise the city’s achievements
It was a dumbfounded journalist who said that Burj Al Arab Jumeirah was a seven-star hotel when it opened, or so the story goes.

Atlantis The Royal

More than two decades on, writers, VIPs, celebrities and dignitaries have again been dazzled by a new Dubai hotel, this time by Atlantis The Royal.

And again, here is a dumbfounded journalist writing that Dubai has opened a hotel far beyond the realms of five-star hospitality. Kerzner International’s Atlantis The Royal is the city’s crowning jewel of modern hospitality.

That is why I’m saying it is time to officially introduce a six-star rating and give it to Atlantis The Royal.

Atlantis The Royal has no equal
Many hotels are luxurious, other hotels have plenty of celebrity-stamped restaurants, lots are frequented by socialites and rockstars, but none have done so on the scale of Atlantis The Royal’s Grand Reveal.

Dubbed the world’s largest ultra-luxury resort, Atlantis The Royal is a self-proclaimed “juggernaut” of the global hotel sector. It has 795 rooms, 90 pools, eight celebrity restaurants and two kilometres of private beach.

A celebrity hotspot
One distinguishing factor between the top hotels of Dubai and the rest of the world is often heritage, history and prestige. Opened in 1907, The Plaza in Manhattan is legendary, frequently appearing in film and pop culture. The property is an icon of New York and has welcomed the most famous people in the world each decade it has been open.

Atlantis The Royal has pretty much managed the same, in a single weekend. During last weekend’s Grand Reveal Party. It welcomed HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Beyoncé, Kendall Jenner and many more.

A key part of tourism
Atlantis The Royal’s opening came days after the announcement of Dubai’s new $8.7 trillion economic plan. It also comes in the wake of the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, which eyes 40 million annual hotel guests.

The Strategy eyes an annual increase of AED27 billion ($7 million), attracting new investments of AED100 billion ($27 billion) to the tourism sector in the country.

This hotel will play a vital role in the country’s ongoing tourism efforts, along with its hopes to boost the national economy.

A six-star classification would propel the hotel into the international conversation again, and help Dubai officials reinforce the emirate’s place as a superpower in luxury and hospitality.

A class of its own
At the moment, hotels do not go above five stars, in Dubai or anywhere else. But that doesn’t mean the city can’t create a six-star classification should it want to. For example, at the end of 2021, Dubai Tourism introduced a new star rating system for wellness resorts. Classifications are also given out to define boutique hotels.

Not only would making Atlantis The Royal a six-star hotel be a recognition of its impact on global tourism, but it would also showcase to the world the pioneering efforts of Dubai in leading the way to redefining what luxury looks like for the next decade.

Moreover, if Dubai Tourism were to pen official guidelines on how to become a six-star hotel, it would push the wider industry to strive for the same. There are around a dozen Dubai hotels I can think of that would revel at the chance to be put into the new classification (and could realistically do it), able to command higher rates because of it and attract deep-pocketed curious tourists from around the world.

As the resort’s marketing and PR VP Hanan Eissa put it: “This is the place you’ll get everything you ever wanted and everything you didn’t know you wanted. Everything you’ll ever dream about is here, in one place.”

YOTEL Saudi Arabia

YOTEL Saudi Arabia

YOTEL Saudi Arabia – will be the first hotel to open at NEOM business hub OXAGON

January 24, 2023 – YOTEL Saudi Arabia

NEOM has revealed its next hotel as YOTEL Saudi Arabia, the airport sleeper brand turned city-centre fuss-free hotel room provider. The YOTEL will be located in the giga-site’s OXAGON project, envisioned as the business and logisitical hub of the super-city.

YOTEL Saudi Arabia

The 300-key hotel will open in 2025, which means, as current plans stand, it will be the first hotel to open at OXAGON. According to YOTEL’s development team, it costs around US$148,000 per key to build a Yotel. This would mean the OXAGON hotel would cost around US$44 million to build.

Hotel facilities
Originally conceived as a pit-stop airport brand for layovers, that original YOTEL concept has since become YOTEL Air. There is also YOTEL Pad for longer stays and the newer YOTEL brand, which is what will be at NEOM.

A YOTEL room is typically 30 sq m and are usually more environmentally friendly than larger, more amenity-packed properties.

Almost half of YOTEL’s guests are are between 30 to 49, while 28 percent are 50 to 64. A combined 44 percent of those staying in YOTELS do so for business or a combination of business and leisure.

“OXAGON’s ambition to house hospitality assets where innovative design, sustainability and technologies converge, echoes our core values at YOTEL,” said Hubert Viriot, CEO of Yotel. “We understand that the non-stop traveller craves destinations that won’t slow them down, and OXAGON promises to be a unique destination where new tech-enabled hospitality experiences can be live-tested. It is an honour to be one of the first hotels to open within a city redefining industries through sustainable innovation.”

The hotel’s location is at the heart of the integrated live-work-play Research and Innovation (R&I) district of OXAGON with a dedicated R&I campus.

“OXAGON’s hotel strategy is built around several pillars including technology, which is key for integration within a wider smart-city infrastructure,” said Vishal Wanchoo, CEO of OXAGON. “After a competitive selection process, YOTEL was the clear hotel brand of choice for the district, given our shared ambitions to focus on people-centric design, circularity and digital advancements.”

YOTEL OXAGON made for the modern age

YOTEL Saudi Arabia “YOTEL’s decision to open their property in NEOM’s OXAGON is a powerful endorsement of our ambition to redefine how people travel, stay and live. When complete, it will serve as the ideal home for modern travellers in search of thoughtfully curated and designed spaces, and we look forward to welcoming them,” added Chris Newman, executive director, Hotel Development at NEOM.

Nobu Dubai

Nobu Dubai is about to celebrate its 15th year in Dubai in an iconic-new space

Nobu Dubai

Nobu Dubai is about to celebrate its 15th year in Dubai in an iconic-new space

January 24, 2023 – Nobu Dubai

One of Dubai’s longest-standing Japanese restaurants is reopening in a stunning new rooftop location.

After 14 years of residence in The Avenues at Atlantis, The Palm, Nobu Dubai is about to celebrate its 15th year in Dubai in an iconic-new space within the crown of the destination resort.

Nobu Dubai

Taking the space formally home to The Royal Bridge Suite, the 22nd floor has been completely transformed to house a brand-new Nobu Dubai, complete with an updated menu, a Nobu Dubai lounge and bar, and an expansive terrace offering incredible views over the Palm Island and Arabian Gulf.

Diners looking to experience the celebrity-approved Nobu Dubai can reserve a table from Monday, January 23.
Upon arrival, you will need to take a right at the main entrance to take a private elevator up to the 22nd floor, before being greeted by the echoing sounds of the chefs shouting in true Nobu fashion.

The first thing you notice is the view. The view is unparalleled of the Palm Jumeirah and the Dubai Marina skyline. You can also see the Burj Al Arab and the Burj Khalifa on a clear day.

Nobu Matsuhisa sat down with Time Out Dubai to chat about the new venue. He said: “It is a new space for us and we are settling in. I really love this location. It is really taking Nobu Dubai to the next level. We love having such a beautiful view and I think this view is the Dubai view that any restaurant hopes to have. This was my dream location and honestly speaking, my dream came true. With the terrace and private dining rooms, a bar and a lounge area, it gives us fantastic new opportunities. We will be doing very interesting things here soon, once we settle in properly.”

The space itself is the largest and most luxurious Nobu in the world. As you enter Nobu Dubai you come across the central Nobu bar and lounge, where diners can enjoy an array of pre-dinner bevvies and small bites set to the soundtrack of two resident DJs.

Then there’s the option for a little more privacy with one of six private dining rooms featuring floor-to-ceiling vistas over the Arabian Gulf and will seat up to two to twelve guests per room.

Guests can choose to sit at one of five dining areas, including the main dining room, an exclusive 13-seat sushi bar or within a VIP booth with front-row seats to the bustling kitchen. The new Nobu Dubai also features an expansive Palm terrace, featuring a bar and lounge area.

With the new venue comes a reimagined menu, which features a variety of new dishes from land and sea. Signature dishes include the chu toro kinome, a seared bluefin tuna topped with imperial caviar which is then carefully placed in an Asian peppermint leaf with a sweet miso sauce.

There’s also the dover sole sesame, a pan-seared whole Dover sole coupled with Japanese mint and shiso sesame soy sauce. Another new must-try dish includes the salmon new style roll, a maki roll seen at many Nobu’s around the world, which is filled with truffle baby spinach salad and topped with fresh salmon sashimi with ginger, garlic, and chives, lightly seared with hot olive and sesame oil.

The celebrity chef added: “We have all the signature dishes and then some. Some ingredients are locally sourced but have the same flavour as other Nobu’s around the world. Dubai has some special dishes created exclusively. I am always looking for something new. I really like to use local products as much as possible.

I like to spend time in Dubai. The melting pot is such an inspiration to me. The people and the scenes here always inspire me to create new dishes

As for Matsuhisa’s favourite dish on the menu? Well, his famous black cod. He said: “The Nobu black cod is like my first-born child. When people talk about my food, they always talk about the black cod.”

It’s always been one of the most ordered, most eaten dishes in Dubai and Nobu does a fantastic job at executing it. Matsuhisa along with the help of Robert DeNiro, made this simple piece of fish, famous globally. Nobu’s is the OG of black cods, so don’t miss it.

Hong Kong Cruise

Hong Kong Cruise – After Three Years, Hong Kong Welcomes International Cruises

Hong Kong Cruise

Hong Kong Cruise – After Three Years, Hong Kong Welcomes International Cruises

January 23, 2023 – Hong Kong Cruise

Hong Kong has welcomed its first ship carrying overseas passengers since the shutdown began in 2019. The easing of pandemic restrictions and the re-opening has allowed for this restart. The Silver Spirit, a Silversea cruise ship, arrived in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, on 18 January 2023, after a 14-day round-trip voyage from Singapore.

Hong Kong Cruise

The Silver Spirit arrived in Hong Kong just after sunrise on Wednesday, January 18 for a two-day port call during a cruise around Asia timed to coincide with the Lunar New Year celebrations. The 39,500 gross-ton cruise ship, which is operated by Silversea Cruises, part of the Royal Caribbean Group, was repositioned by the line to operate from Asia as part of the industry’s return to the market. She will remain in the region till March, when she begins her repositioning to Europe for the summer season.

Many travellers dream of visiting Hong Kong because of its cultural offerings. If you’re visiting the city, arriving by cruise ship is the best way to see the harbour and get into the centre quickly and easily.

The Ocean Terminal is conveniently positioned on the north side of Victoria Harbour, close to Kowloon Park and a wide variety of tourist destinations, delicious dining options, and attractive shops. Visitors may take in breathtaking vistas of the city’s cityscape and historical landmarks as they make their way to the terminal.

Silversea’s managing director Adam Radwanski called Hong Kong’s harbour “one of the most magnificent harbours in the world.” “Cruising throughout Asia is not complete or entirely satisfied without stopping or calling in Hong Kong; hence Hong Kong is an extremely critical point and port in this part of the region.”

The Silver Spirit, with a gross tonnage of 39,518, can accommodate 608 passengers at double occupancy and 648 at maximum capacity. This ship underwent extensive renovations in 2018. As limited-capacity sailings are still required in the region, the ship is expected to transport slightly more than 300 passengers on this voyage. More than twenty different countries were represented among the guests, which was a true display of the revival of the cruise industry.

Kevin Yeung, the minister of culture, said as he greeted visitors at the port, “It’s a significant milestone for us on our road to recovery.”

China has maintained strong lockdowns and limits on overseas travel, only gradually relaxing restrictions recently. With cruise ships finally returning to the region, more tourists will be able to explore this magnificent destination.

Silver Spirit called in ports in Thailand and Vietnam before arriving in Hong Kong. It is on its way back to Singapore on a 10-night cruise, expected to reach 29 January, with three stops in Vietnam along the way: Halong Bay, Da Nang, and Saigon.

While China is just progressively opening up to international cruise tourism, several cruise lines are scheduled to visit Hong Kong in the coming months. Along with Silversea, cruise lines having stops in Hong Kong include Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises, Oceania Cruises, AIDA Cruises, Azamara Cruises, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, and Cunard.

Copacabana Palace Celebrates 100 Years with Annual Arts, Gastronomy, and Cultural Program

Copacabana Palace

Copacabana Palace Celebrates 100 Years with Annual Arts, Gastronomy, and Cultural Program

January 23, 2023 – Copacabana Palace

Copacabana Palace, A Belmond Hotel, Rio de Janeiro will celebrate its 100 years with the launch of an annual arts, gastronomy, and cultural programme, running throughout 2023.

Copacabana Palace

The “#100doCopa” events will reflect the city’s infectious energy, celebrated at the hotel for the past century. With a reputation as Rio’s legendary playground of glamour, Copacabana Palace’s centenary promises to be nothing short of unforgettable, with highlights including the iconic Carnival Ball in February, an exclusive guest-chef series and star-studded, special events that toast the hotel’s storied history and sparkling future.

#100doCopa: CINEMATOGRAPHIC CELEBRATIONS

The #100doCopa celebrations will kick off on New Year’s Eve with a legendary “White & Gold” party. This year’s theme honours the Brazilian custom of wearing white at the turn of the year to bring good fortune, whilst gold is a nod to the pioneering party spirit of Copa. One of the most celebrated décor artists in the city, Patrícia Vaks, will adorn the landmark hotel’s fabulous halls and pool area with seasonal flowers and a light show of colours. Local bands, Jazz com Bossa and Studio Pop will play in the Golden Room, followed by a line-up of up-and-coming DJs, including Ronnie Borges, Vincent Chicha and Marisa D’Amato. Come midnight, the hotel’s terraces are the place to be to catch the glittering view of the fireworks.

FAMED FESTAS

February brings the joy of Rio Carnival – an annual kaleidoscopic delight since the 1650s, rooted in the very fabric of Brazilian tradition and regarded as the biggest party in the world. To mark the occasion, Copacabana Palace has been hosting the Copa Magic Ball since 1924, with famous guests including Jayne Mansfield, Brigitte Bardot and Joan Fontaine. The much-anticipated 2023 edition will be held on 18 February, to the innovative theme of ‘The Time Tunnel’. Guests are invited to travel back in time or look to the future, choosing a moment from 1923 to 2123. Artistic director, Gustavo Barchilon, known for his sophisticated productions, will work together with renowned scenographer, Daniel Cruz, to create the most exhilarating ball to date.
August 2023 will mark the official centenary of Copacabana Palace and to honour the occasion, the red carpet will be rolled out for a show-stopping party dedicated to Rio citizens, with a special surprise to be revealed closer to the time. This will give the hotel the opportunity to invite the community to celebrate not only Copa’s centenary, but the legendary city itself.

“We are proud to celebrate 100 years of Copa and are grateful to the long-serving hotel team who have helped us reach this wonderful milestone. It is thanks to everyone’s passion and love for “Copa” that we are today regarded as a Rio landmark, a cultural monument that reflects the city’s vibrant spirit, throughout its walls. We look forward to the next chapter.” says Ulisses Marreiros, General Manager of Copacabana Palace.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE ARTS

Alongside the hotel sits the Copacabana Palace Theatre, considered one of the greatest stages in Brazil. Closed for nearly three decades, over the past two years, Belmond in collaboration with a leading Brazilian architect, Ivan Rezende, completed the painstaking restoration, involving more than 600 craftspeople over 18 different disciplines, from woodcarvers to designers and carpenters. Having recently reopened, the Theatre plays host to Rio’s series of creative and cultural performances and in 2023, will return to its full glory with curated performances and concerts of the century, marking a new chapter for the cultural scene in the city.

Later in 2023, Belmond will deepen its connection to art with the expansion of the MITICO project – an artist series in partnership with Galleria Continua, across the globe. Following the success of the 2022 first edition in Italy, new installations will arrive at Copacabana Palace.
COLOURFUL CUISINE

Copacabana Palace is a gastronomic hub, home to two Michelin-starred restaurants: the contemporary pan-Asian MEE and Italian destination Ristorante Hotel Cipriani, led by the Italian chef Nello Cassese; as well as the charming Pérgula, one of the city’s most celebrated Carioca restaurants, serving authentic South American fare overlooking the city’s most glamourous swimming pool and Copacabana Beach.

Throughout the commemorative year, the restaurants will host important guest chefs and gastronomic events, while the already prestigious “Master Series”, a collection of events that bring renowned chefs to cook alongside the in-house team, will welcome big names in international cuisine for the first time in its history. The first guest chef confirmed for 2023 is Virgilio Martinez, from the award-winning “Central” restaurant in Lima, Peru – named No.1 at Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 awards ceremony.

A CARIOCA ICON

The famed history of the most traditional and luxurious hotel in Rio de Janeiro began with its construction by businessman, Octávio Guinle, in 1923 – a suggestion from the then President of the Republic, Epitácio Pessoa. Designed by French architect, Joseph Gire and inspired by the famous Negresco hotels in Nice and the Carlton hotels in Cannes, Copacabana Palace, a Belmond Hotel, has been a symbol of excellence and hospitality in Brazil and around the world ever since. Located at the one of best-known addresses in the city, on the beachfront of Avenida Atlântica, the hotel has been the stage of major events in Rio, hosting kings, queens, presidents and celebrities.

Hard Rock Las Vegas International Acquires The Mirage Hotel and Casino

January 19, 2023 – Hard Rock Las Vegas

Hard Rock Las Vegas International (HRI) on Friday received regulatory approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission for its acquisition of The Mirage Hotel & Casino from MGM Resorts International.
HRI assumed operations control of the property as of 6 a.m. Monday, December 19. Under terms of the transaction, HRI paid $1.075 billion in cash for the operating assets of The Mirage Hotel & Casino. HRI entered into a long-term lease agreement with VICI Properties Inc. for the real estate property of The Mirage.

Hard Rock Las Vegas

The 3,044-room casino resort will continue to operate as The Mirage Hotel & Casino until the renovation and rebranding of the property to the Hard Rock Las Vegas is complete. The process is anticipated to take an extended period, but ultimately will dramatically reimagine every aspect of the resort and change the Las Vegas skyline with the addition of a Guitar-shaped hotel tower adjacent to Las Vegas Blvd.

“Today, we’d like to officially welcome the 3,500 team members at The Mirage to the 45,000 global Hard Rock family and express our gratitude to the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission for approving the gaming license for us to operate The Mirage Hotel & Casino,” said Jim Allen, Chairman, Hard Rock International / Hard Rock Las Vegas. “We are excited to create an integrated resort on The Strip that will make this legendary entertainment community proud.”
Daily operations of the famed Las Vegas resort are set to continue under The Mirage brand for the foreseeable future, and all room reservations and group bookings will be honored with no action required by guests or group organizers. The Mirage will continue to offer world-class entertainment and dining options including, Cirque Du Soleil’s The Beatles™ LOVE™ through 2023. There are no plans to close The Mirage or to lay off any of the team members as one media outlet incorrectly reported recently.

Casino players and guests will now enjoy Unity™ by Hard Rock Las Vegas, a global loyalty program unlike any other that will enable patrons to earn and redeem rewards at participating Hard Rock Hotels, Cafes, and Casinos around the globe.

Prior to 2020, Hard Rock International had no previous operational involvement with the former Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas at the off-strip location. HRI purchased the licensing and naming rights for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas in May 2020 and vowed to bring the iconic brand to the Las Vegas Strip when the right opportunity presented itself.

Hard Rock expects to release details of the rebranded and reimagined resort, its new features and attractions, and development timeline at the end of 2023. Barclays served as exclusive financial advisor to Hard Rock International in connection with the transaction, and Jones Day served as legal advisor to Hard Rock International together with Fox Rothschild LLP and McDonald Carano LLP as special gaming counsel.

Sommerro

Housed in a former private residence dating back to 1870, the villa was originally built by architect Thøger Binneballe as an office space for Oslo Lysverker administration, the city’s original electrical company, before housing the Algerian embassy from 1980. Now part of Sommerro, this iconic building has come full circle with a new lease on life as a private villa available to book in its entirety. Offering the ultimate in seclusion, with its own dedicated hidden entrance, guests will benefit from their own personal host throughout the duration of their stay, who will remain on-hand to ensure all needs are met.

Separate to the main building, this 11-suite retreat will boast several opulent living rooms, including a library, snug room, meeting-and dining room space, an open kitchen, an intimate bar, a fitness room in the basement and an outdoor area. Guests will be able to enjoy the privacy of their own villa with full access to all of the amenities and services offered at Sommerro.

Providing a home away from home for both travellers and locals, the iconic 231-room Art Deco hotel is complete with seven restaurants and bars, meeting and event spaces with capacity for up to 150 people, a 100-seat gilded theatre, a landmark wellness space featuring historic public baths, and the city’s first year-round rooftop pool, sauna, and terrace. Guests staying at Villa Inkognito will be able to arrange private dinners and order in-suite dining from the best of Sommerro’s food and beverage offerings, while also having the opportunity to enjoy in-room wellness treatments from the experts at Vestkantbadet.

Best-known for their elaborate, detailed, and meticulously researched designs, GrecoDeco will once again head up the interiors, embellishing the spaces with a mix of antiques, original artwork, decorative details and classic Scandinavian furnishings. The villa’s thoughtfully designed bedrooms and electically themed public areas, are inspired by a range of eras including Classic Norwegian, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts and a bit of Japonisme, all rooted in the history of the building. Guests can imbibe cocktails among the spirits in the Villa’s intimate Ghost Bar, with mosaic floors combining Golden Onyx with Norwegian Granites, silver gilt walls, and antique light fixtures. The bedrooms boast opulent details and lush textiles, such as custom-designed furnishings with marquetried details recalling 19th century Norwegian motifs, bespoke hand-knotted rugs, beds from innovative Swedish sleep brand Hilding Anders, and dreamy bathrooms with custom tiles.

All Veranda Staterooms: Guests can choose from five stateroom categories, starting from 270 sq. ft. Veranda Staterooms, all with private verandas, sweeping views of the destination and premium amenities that include king-size beds with luxury linens, generously proportioned closets, large interactive flat-screen LCD TVs with movies-on-demand, free Wi-Fi and award-winning bathrooms with large showers, premium Freyja® bath products and heated floors.

Explorer Suites: The ships feature 14 Explorer Suites, which are two-room suites ranging from 757 to 1,163 sq. ft. With expansive views from wraparound private verandas, as well as the most amenities and privileges of any category on board, Explorer Suites offer the ultimate sanctuary for World Cruise guests.

Two Pool Choices: In addition to the Main Pool with a retractable roof permitting any-season swimming, the ships feature a first-of-its-kind glass-backed Infinity Pool cantilevered off the stern, allowing guests to swim surrounded by their destination.

The Spa: In keeping with Viking’s Nordic heritage, The Spa on board is designed with the holistic wellness philosophy of Scandinavia in mind—from the centuries-old tradition of the sauna to a Snow Grotto where snowflakes gently descend from the ceiling through chilled air.

Explorers’ Lounge and Mamsen’s: Share a cocktail with friends. Linger over a Norwegian breakfast and a nautical history book. The Explorers’ Lounge and Mamsen’s gourmet deli are thoughtful spaces located at the bow of the ship and designed to represent the Scandinavian spirit for complete relaxation and for marveling at sweeping views through double-height windows.

The Wintergarden: Guests looking for serenity will find it in the Wintergarden. In this elegant space under a canopy of Scandinavian trellised wood, guests can indulge in afternoon tea service.

Dining Choices: Viking’s ships offer eight dining options, all with no additional charge or fee—from fine dining in The Restaurant, which serves three full meals and a variety of culinary options, and the World Café, which features international fare and regional specialties including a sushi and seafood cold bar—to intimate alternative dining experiences at The Chef’s Table, which offers a multi-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and Manfredi’s, which features freshly prepared pastas and Italian favorites. The Pool Grill specializes in gourmet burgers, while afternoon tea and scones are available in the Wintergarden. Mamsen’s serves Norwegian deli-style fare, and complimentary 24-hour room service allows all guests to enjoy many signature dishes in the comfort of their stateroom. Furthermore, with multiple choices for outdoor seating during meals, Viking’s ocean ships offer the most al fresco dining at sea. Additionally, The Kitchen Table specializes in regional dishes from market to table.

Cultural Enrichment: Viking Cruises experiences from ship to shore are designed for unparalleled access and cultural enrichment. Viking Resident Historians deliver high-level historical and cultural education specific to the journey, offering invaluable insight into the rich history of the destination. Guest Lecturers who are experts in their fields shed light on the destination’s art, architecture, music, geopolitics, natural world and more. Destination Performances represent the most iconic cultural performing arts of the region—whether it be Italian opera or Portuguese fado. Resident Classical Musicians—pianists, guitarists, violinists and flautists—perform classical compositions throughout the ships. And Culinary Classes in The Kitchen Table, Viking’s onboard cooking school, focus on regional cuisine.
Nordic Inspiration: Even the smallest details take their inspiration from the exploratory spirit of the original Vikings, reflecting deeply held Nordic traditions. Light wood grains, touches of slate and teak, Swedish limestone and fragrant juniper appear throughout the public spaces and Spa. The Clinker-built design of the Viking Bar mirrors the construction style of the original Viking Longships. A Viking Heritage Center provides history and context from the Viking Age. And characters from Norse Mythology are subtly incorporated into the design, providing curious guests with inspiration to further explore Viking’s Nordic heritage.
