Air Canada Expands Daring South America Flights 2025 – A New Route Aimed Towards Soaking Up The Sunshine

Fantastic news for adventure seekers and snowbirds alike—Air Canada is working at improving its service in South America’s region with the launch of two new routes in December of 2025. If you have fantasised about changing the winter Canadian weather for the beaches of Rio or vineyards of Santiago, your escape strategy just became much simpler.

And yes, these flights can be booked right now because Air Canada wants to ensure that your summer in South America (and winter in North America) is thrilling and warm.

Toronto to Rio de Janeiro – An Exception For São Paulo Having All The Fun

From December 4, Air Canada is going to link Toronto (YYZ) with Rio de Janeiro (GIG) three times in a week, proving once and for all that when it comes to Canadians, it is not only skiing that they cherish doing, but also spending time on Copacabana Beach.

Flight Schedule:

From Toronto (Tues, Thurs, Sat): 23:30 → 11:45+1

From Rio (Wed, Fri, Sun): 22:30 → 07:00+1

This marks Air Canada’s second destination in Brazil, alongside São Paulo on its map of South America. Now, travellers have the choice of conducting business in São Paulo, partying in Rio, or why not, both?

Montreal to Santiago – A Historic First

On December 16, Air Canada will start the very first direct flight from Montreal (YUL) to Santiago (SCL). No more layovers no more dealing with those awkward naps in the airports, a direct one to the capital of Chile who happens to have more wine besides the Andes, which gives one ample opportunities to unlock reasons to extend the trip.

Flight Schedule:

From Montreal-(Tues, Thurs, Sat): 18:25 → 07:15+1

From Santiago- (Wed, Fri, Sun): 09:00 → 17:40

This is big news for Montrealers because up until now, they had to go via Toronto or other hubs. No more connections, no more routing; they are free to go directly to the adventure in Chile.

The Bigger Picture: Air Canada’s South American Takeover

With these new flights, Air Canada is flexing its muscles in South America, where it already serves Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and São Paulo. And although, Buenos Aires still requires a stop in São Paulo, the airline is clearly eyeing future expansion.

Current Routes:

Argentina: Toronto → Buenos Aires (via São Paulo)

Brazil: Toronto & Montreal → São Paulo

Chile: Toronto → Santiago

Colombia: Toronto & Montreal → Bogotá

And also, cargo flights keep things moving in Lima and Quito. Even if passengers can’t fly direct, Air Canada is making sure packages, avocados, and whatever else still makes the journey.

Who Else Is Competing?

For now Air Canada is the dominant player in Canada- South America flights, only along with Air Transat and Avianca which don’t offer much competition.

Avianca links Toronto with Bogotá, while other South American airlines such as LATAM and Aerolíneas Argentinas have abandoned Canada’s market in the last few years.

This implies other South American nations, including Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela, do not have direct flights to Canada. So who knows if Air Canada decides to pursue this objective, perhaps Lima or Quito will be on the list soon.

One More Thing… The coverage also includes Caribbean and Central America

In case you don’t feel like travelling to South America, Air Canada has even more tropical destinations to offer. The airline services almost 20 Caribbean and Central American locations, from Belize and the Bahamas to Antigua and Aruba, giving Canadians numerous choices for warm weather vacations.

Final Boarding Call. Claim your tickets right away to avoid disappointment

Air Canada is simplifying international travel by leaps and bounds, and with two new routes and numerous possibilities already, it’s is even more present in South America. From now on, if you’re traveling to santiago’s vineyards, Rio’s sunsets or simply want to escape the cold, these flights will help you get lost in the warmth of winter and other exciting destinations.
