Avianca to restart amazing Bogotá–Caracas flights 2026

Avianca to restart amazing Bogotá–Caracas flights 2026

So, grab your passport and maybe a sense of déjà vu — because, after a brief hiatus that had flyers asking “Wait … are we still grounded?” Avianca is back in the Bogotá–Caracas game with daily nonstop flights starting 12 February 2026. That’s right: the friendly Colombian airline is once again zipping between Colombia’s high‑altitude capital and Venezuela’s sun‑kissed capital like it’s no big deal — even though many travelers are scratching their heads with excitement.

Let’s break it down: Avianca, which has been flying folks around for more than six decades (so, yes, it’s basically your aviation grandparent at this point), is officially flipping the “on” switch for daily direct service between Bogotá and Caracas again. The route had been on pause late last year, leading to rumors, memes, and possibly a few tears among frequent fliers — but now it’s back, baby!

What the New Schedule Actually Looks Like

Here’s how your soon‑to‑be‑booked flights will go:

  • AV142 Bogotá → Caracas: Departing bright and early at 07:40, touching down around 10:40 (local times).
  • AV143 Caracas → Bogotá: After maybe grabbing an arepa or two, this one leaves Caracas at 12:10 and lands in Bogotá around 13:15.

Not super long flights — which means you could technically fly down, get lunch, enjoy the sunshine, and be back home before your coworker who “just stayed in the office.”

Why It Were Suspended in the First Place

You might be wondering: “Hold up — didn’t these flights stop?” Yep. They did. Avianca paused its Venezuela service late last year due to a safety advisory and some airspace restrictions that left travelers with fewer direct options between the two capitals. But after some behind‑the‑scenes coordination with the aviation authorities and a thorough operational safety check (which, let’s be honest, is extra important when you’re thousands of feet up in the sky), Avianca is comfortable saying, “Yep, let’s do this again.”

Basically, the airline and relevant authorities put their heads together, double‑checked their checklists, probably had a couple of very serious conference calls, and gave the thumbs‑up for takeoff.

Tickets & Travel Plans

Good news: those seats are already up for grabs. You can snag a ticket through Avianca’s website, mobile app, ticket offices, travel agencies, or by calling up their contact centre and pretending you actually know what all those airline fare codes mean. (We see you trying to decode “AV142 vs AV143,” and we support your struggle.)

This restored route isn’t just about convenience — it symbolises a bigger thing: regional connectivity. For people who’ve been dreaming of a quick weekend trip from Bogotá to Caracas, or business travellers juggling meetings with an efficiency rivalled only by a Swiss watch, the return of daily service is a big deal. This isn’t just a flight; it’s a bridge between two capitals that lets you get work done, visit family, or enjoy some arepas without a million layovers.

Why It Matters

Let’s get real: Colombia and Venezuela are neighbours with tons of cultural, economic and social ties. Having a direct flight every single day makes spontaneous trips way more doable. You don’t have to book months in advance. You don’t have to explain your convoluted routing via Panama. Nope — just hop on a plane in the morning and be exploring Caracas by brunch.

Plus, Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport is a hub with lots of onward options. Want to connect to the Caribbean or Central America? You’re basically minutes away from making that happen — and having Caracas as a direct partner for that hub just makes travel planners do a little happy dance.

Final Thought

So mark your calendar: 12 February 2026 is the day Avianca reignites the Bogotá–Caracas daily link. It’s early, it’s direct, and it might just be the travel news your inbox needed today. Tickets are live, seats are waiting, and — honestly — you’re running out of excuses not to book that next adventure.

Air Canada Expands Daring South America Flights 2025

Air Canada Expands Daring South America Flights 2025 – A New Route Aimed Towards Soaking Up The Sunshine

Fantastic news for adventure seekers and snowbirds alike—Air Canada is working at improving its service in South America’s region with the launch of two new routes in December of 2025. If you have fantasised about changing the winter Canadian weather for the beaches of Rio or vineyards of Santiago, your escape strategy just became much simpler.

And yes, these flights can be booked right now because Air Canada wants to ensure that your summer in South America (and winter in North America) is thrilling and warm.

Toronto to Rio de Janeiro – An Exception For São Paulo Having All The Fun

From December 4, Air Canada is going to link Toronto (YYZ) with Rio de Janeiro (GIG) three times in a week, proving once and for all that when it comes to Canadians, it is not only skiing that they cherish doing, but also spending time on Copacabana Beach.

Flight Schedule:

From Toronto (Tues, Thurs, Sat): 23:30 → 11:45+1

From Rio (Wed, Fri, Sun): 22:30 → 07:00+1

This marks Air Canada’s second destination in Brazil, alongside São Paulo on its map of South America. Now, travellers have the choice of conducting business in São Paulo, partying in Rio, or why not, both?

Montreal to Santiago – A Historic First

On December 16, Air Canada will start the very first direct flight from Montreal (YUL) to Santiago (SCL). No more layovers no more dealing with those awkward naps in the airports, a direct one to the capital of Chile who happens to have more wine besides the Andes, which gives one ample opportunities to unlock reasons to extend the trip.

Flight Schedule:

From Montreal-(Tues, Thurs, Sat): 18:25 → 07:15+1

From Santiago- (Wed, Fri, Sun): 09:00 → 17:40

This is big news for Montrealers because up until now, they had to go via Toronto or other hubs. No more connections, no more routing; they are free to go directly to the adventure in Chile.

The Bigger Picture: Air Canada’s South American Takeover

With these new flights, Air Canada is flexing its muscles in South America, where it already serves Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and São Paulo. And although, Buenos Aires still requires a stop in São Paulo, the airline is clearly eyeing future expansion.

Current Routes:

Argentina: Toronto → Buenos Aires (via São Paulo)

Brazil: Toronto & Montreal → São Paulo

Chile: Toronto → Santiago

Colombia: Toronto & Montreal → Bogotá

And also, cargo flights keep things moving in Lima and Quito. Even if passengers can’t fly direct, Air Canada is making sure packages, avocados, and whatever else still makes the journey.

Who Else Is Competing?

For now Air Canada is the dominant player in Canada- South America flights, only along with Air Transat and Avianca which don’t offer much competition.

Avianca links Toronto with Bogotá, while other South American airlines such as LATAM and Aerolíneas Argentinas have abandoned Canada’s market in the last few years.

This implies other South American nations, including Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela, do not have direct flights to Canada. So who knows if Air Canada decides to pursue this objective, perhaps Lima or Quito will be on the list soon.

One More Thing… The coverage also includes Caribbean and Central America

In case you don’t feel like travelling to South America, Air Canada has even more tropical destinations to offer. The airline services almost 20 Caribbean and Central American locations, from Belize and the Bahamas to Antigua and Aruba, giving Canadians numerous choices for warm weather vacations.

Final Boarding Call. Claim your tickets right away to avoid disappointment

Air Canada is simplifying international travel by leaps and bounds, and with two new routes and numerous possibilities already, it’s is even more present in South America. From now on, if you’re traveling to santiago’s vineyards, Rio’s sunsets or simply want to escape the cold, these flights will help you get lost in the warmth of winter and other exciting destinations.
