The entrance to Costa Rica is enabled for tourists from all the countries of the world by air, land and sea.

By land, the country admits tourists from groups one and two included in the general guidelines for entry and stay visas for non-residents, that is, they do not require a visa. Individuals whose nationality is in the third and fourth groups and who require a consular or consulted visa to enter, may visit Costa Rica by land when the Costa Rican consulates return to attend these procedures, on a date yet to be defined. In the meantime, they can opt for air or sea entry.

By air, you can enter the country on commercial or private international flights that land at the Juan Santamaría (SJO) and Daniel Oduber Quirós (LIR) airports.

In the case of entering the country by sea, you can enter the country on yachts and sailboats only through the marinas of Golfito, Los Sueños, Pez Vela, Banana Bay and Papagayo.

The tourist must meet the visa requirements, when required, as well as the requirements established in the framework of the pandemic.

The Government of the Republic does not require coronavirus detection tests, nor does it issue sanitary confinement orders to enter the country by air or land.

Those who enter the country by sea and who have not made a stopover elsewhere, should not be subjected to isolation if they have been sailing for more than 14 days.

Tourists visiting Costa Rica are requested to abide by the sanitary protocols in place for carrying out all tourist activities in the country.

In the framework of the pandemic, the following requirements were also established:

Complete the digital form called HEALTH PASS and available at https://salud.go.cr
The Health Pass can only be completed within 72 hours of arriving in the country. It must be accessed in updated browsers with the exception of Internet Explorer. One form must be completed per person, including minors, without exception.
Travel policy

* Important update for minors and individuals who are fully vaccinated *

As of August 1, 2021, all tourists under 18 years of age can enter the country without a travel policy.

As of August 1, 2021, all tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and inoculated with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson can enter the country without a travel policy. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days before arrival in Costa Rica.

Vaccinated tourists must attach the vaccination certificate to the Health Pass. As proof, vaccination certificates and vaccination cards that contain at least the following information will be accepted:

1. Name of the person who received the vaccine

2. Date of each dose

3. Pharmaceutical house

In the case of U.S. travelers, the “COVID-19 vaccination record card” will be accepted.

Tourists not vaccinated, with incomplete vaccination or vaccinated with a serum other than those admitted by the Costa Rican authorities, must purchase mandatory travel insurance that covers lodging in case of quarantine and medical expenses due to COVID-19 disease as detailed below.

International Policies

Regarding the policy, you can choose any international insurance company that meets the following requirements:

1. Valid during the entire stay in Costa Rica (coverage dates).

2. $50,000 for medical expenses, including COVID-19 disease.

3. $2,000 for lodging expenses in case of COVID-19 quarantine.

Ask your insurance company for a certificate/letter in English or Spanish stating the following:

1. Name of the person traveling.

2. Validity of the effective policy during the Costa Rica visit (travel dates).

3. Guarantee of coverage for medical expenses in case of COVID 19 in Costa Rica, for at least $50,000

4. Minimum coverage of $2,000 for lodging expenses for quarantine or trip interruption for this same amount.

This certificate must specify that the policy covers COVID-19 and must be uploaded to the HEALTH PASS to be reviewed and approved by the Costa Rican authorities. Insurance cards are not accepted, it must be a document that allows the verification of the coverage mentioned.

The tourist can also choose any of the following Costa Rican insurance companies, which sell products registered and authorized by the General Superintendency of Insurance of Costa Rica.

IMPORTANT: For international policies, the minimum coverage was set at $50,000, while for policies sold by Costa Rican insurers the minimum was set at $20,000.

Foreigners with temporary or permanent residence, or temporary category who return to Costa Rica, and who are not up to date with the corresponding payments with the Costa Rican Social Security Fund, must acquire a temporary local insurance for 22 days or an international insurance that complies with the same requirements that are applied to a foreign tourist.

In the case of foreigners with the immigration category of permanent or temporary resident, or special category in the latter case (with the exception of the Student Subcategory), they must demonstrate the assurance by the Costa Rican social security, which is in force and can be verified in the link: https://sfa.ccss.sa.cr/servMedicos/validarDerechos.do

Tourists who are in transit through the country must purchase insurance with a minimum coverage of five days.

Costa Rican citizens do not require health insurance.

Tourists are requested and warned not to attach unsolicited personal documents, such as copies of credit cards, keys or private passwords or others in the link of the Health Pass: https://salud.go.cr nor in an email to seguros@ict.go.cr. Reminder that only a copy of the insurance policies should be attached.

Entry by air or land – In case of questions or concerns about the requirements or conditions of medical insurance, write to the email address seguros@ict.go.cr.

Entry by sea – In case of questions or concerns about the requirements or conditions of medical insurance, passengers and crew members of yachts or sailboats can write to the email address seguros.marinas@ict.go.cr.

Failure to comply with these requirements makes it impossible for the passenger to enter the country.

(CNN) — If you’re planning to travel to Mexico, here’s what you’ll need to know and expect if you want to visit during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mexico is open to travelers. There is no need to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival, though most resorts ask guests to fill out health questionnaires.

The land border between Mexico and the United States is closed for nonessential travel through at least August 21. However, air travel is allowed.

American travelers should remember they will need a negative Covid-19 test result taken 72 hours or less before travel to return to the US. The US Embassy says results for PCR and antigen tests are reliably available within 72 hours in Mexico.

As of July 29, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention listed Mexico’s travel advisory rating at level 3 — “high” risk. Level 4 is “very high” risk. The CDC advises travelers to be fully vaccinated before traveling to Mexico.

Who can go

Mexico has some of the world’s loosest border restrictions with anyone allowed to travel by air for business or leisure.

What are the restrictions?

Travelers to the country must complete a health declaration form and scan the QR code it generates on arrival. There is no need to take a test before departure or undertake any form of quarantine. Those concerned they may have symptoms should ask for the Sanidad Internacional health organization.

The land border with the United States remains shut to all but essential travel. People trying to enter through the southern border with Guatemala and Belize may also be denied entry for nonessential travel.

What’s the Covid situation?

Mexico has had about 2.8 million cases of Covid-19 and about 239,600 deaths as of July 29 (although some believe the actual numbers are higher). President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has come under fire for taking a laissez-faire approach to the virus. Restrictions have not been far reaching and life has gone on as normal for many, which critics say has led to high death and infection rates.

As of July 29, Mexico had administered almost 63 million doses of vaccine, or about 49 doses per 100 people. Cases have been shooting back up in recently.

What can visitors expect?

Mexico has a four-tier traffic light system of restrictions, with red signifying maximum restrictions, orange limiting capacity in public spaces and at work to 30%, yellow allowing for all work to resume and public gatherings to take place, and green meaning there are no restrictions in place. As of July 29, most states were categorized as yellow and orange.

Quintana Roo, where popular tourist destinations Cancun and Playa del Carmen are located, was listed as orange. Baja California Sur, home to Cabo San Lucas, and Mexico City were also listed as orange.

July 27, 2021: Information on entry restrictions, testing and quarantine regulations in Chile

Chile is under a nightly curfew, which begins at either 10:00 pm or 12:00 am (depending on the region of the country) and lasts until 5:00 am. Start times for regional curfews are available here.
Chile remains under a State of Emergency through September 2021.
Across Chile, travelers should be aware that any health and safety measures currently in place, including restrictions on movement and gatherings in groups, may become stricter with little notice. U.S. citizens should exercise caution by maintaining social distancing practices, following quarantine and sanitary procedures as directed by the Chilean government (including curfew). COVID-19 Testing:

Are PCR and/or antigen tests available for U.S. citizens in Chile? Yes
If so, are test results reliably available within 72 hours? Yes
US citizens can obtain a COVID-19 test in any public hospital or in private clinics. A doctor’s note is not required to request a test. The cost of the test is approximately CLP $25,000. Travelers are responsible for paying for their own tests, whether it be direct payment to the medical facility, or through insurance.
Travelers can request to receive test results by email. A physical copy of the test results may also be obtained- travelers should consult the medical facility where they have the test taken.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information:

Has the government of Chile approved a COVID-19 vaccine for use? Yes
Are vaccines available in Chile for U.S. citizens to receive? Yes. Vaccines are available for U.S. citizens who are also either residents or citizens of Chile
Which vaccines are available in Chile? The Chilean government has approved the following vaccines for use: Pfizer-Biontech, Astrazeneca, Sinovac, Cansino, and Sputnik V

The U.S. government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? No. Only Chilean citizens and foreign residents of Chile may enter. Non-resident foreigners must request a salvoconducto at the Chilean Embassy.
Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes. The test must be taken within 72 hours of boarding the final flight to Chile. The 72-hour time period begins from the time the test is administered, not from the time that results are returned. Only PCR tests for COVID-19 are acceptable for entry into Chile; antigen-only tests are not accepted
Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes
For arriving travelers with a valid “Mobility Pass” (Pase de Movibilidad) approved by the Chilean government: a 10-day quarantine is required, but may be done in a private residence. Passengers must be able to arrive at their private residence within 5 hours of arriving in Chile, and may not use public transit.
For arriving travelers without a valid “Mobility Pass” or whose private residence is more than 5 hours away: a 10-day quarantine is required in a transit hotel designated by the Chilean Ministry of Health. The cost of the hotel stay for the 10-day period is the sole responsibility of the traveler.
Currently, the Chilean government has not made arrangements for passengers vaccinated outside of Chile to obtain a Mobility Pass. If you were vaccinated outside of Chile, whether you are a Chilean citizen, resident, or non-resident, you will be required to quarantine in a transit hotel upon arrival in Chile.

Beginning April 5, Chilean citizens and residents of Chile will be required to request a permit from the Comisaría Virtual in order to depart Chile. The government of Chile has informed that such permits will be granted only in exceptional circumstances. Non-resident foreigners continue to be allowed to depart Chile. Non-resident foreigners will not be allowed to enter Chile, but will be allowed to depart.
Travelers must complete an online form with the Ministry of Health will receive a daily health survey from the Ministry of Health for 14 days after arrival. The completion of this daily survey is mandatory.
Travelers (of all ages) will have to present three documents when boarding:
- A completed “Affidavit of Travelers” electronic form (available at https://www.c19.cl/ and also known as a Sanitary Passport) prepared less than 48 hours before boarding;
- Proof of a negative result from a PCR result from a test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding their final flight to Chile; and
- Proof of a health insurance policy that provides coverage for COVID-19 and related health issues during the traveler’s stay in Chile. The health insurance must cover charges associated with COVID-19 during the traveler’s stay, with a coverage of USD $ 30,000 (minimum). All documents must be presented before boarding the flight to Chile.
Foreign residents of Chile and holders of diplomatic/official passports are exempt from the health insurance requirements
For travelers departing Chile with a valid Mobility Pass: Chilean citizens and residents may depart Chile freely.
For travelers departing Chile without a Mobility Pass: Chilean citizens and residents must request a permit from the Comisaría Virtual in order to depart Chile. The criteria for these permits is extremely strict, and includes cases that may be humanitarian or medical in nature, where the travel is in Chile’s national interest, or where a traveler is moving to another country. The U.S. Embassy cannot intervene on the behalf of individual cases where a permit is denied to a U.S/Chilean dual national, or a U.S. citizen resident of Chile. We recommend that travelers provide as much supporting documentation as possible when requesting permits.
U.S. citizens should contact the Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) for information regarding the extension of tourist or resident visas

Movement Restrictions:

Is a curfew in place? Yes.
Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? Yes. In places where sanitary cordons are in place, travelers may be subject to temperature screenings. Travel to or from comunas in quarantine requires a permit obtained from the Chilean police
Travel between regions is allowed only to and from districts in Step 3 (Preparation) or above. Travelers are required to carry a sanitary passport for travel between regions.
Individuals in comunas that are in Paso 1 or 2 are allowed two permits (permiso de desplazamiento) a week, but only one permit may be used on the weekend or holidays.
Individuals in comunas in Paso 1 are allowed outside for exercise without a permit from 5:00 am to 10:00 am, seven days a week.
Some regions of Chile have additional travel restrictions. Individuals traveling to the Magallanes Region must also have a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to travel. Individuals traveling to the Aysén Region must have a negative PCR test taken 96 hours prior to travel. Quarantine Information:

Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? Yes
The Chilean government has instituted a gradual re-opening plan (“Paso a Paso”) with different levels of permitted activities at each step. Neighborhoods (comunas) may move forward or backward in steps, depending on local conditions. Learn more about the Paso a Paso plan here (Spanish only).
Comunas at Paso 1 (Quarantine) are subject to 24-hour quarantine. Citizens with a Mobility Pass granted by the Chilean government may leave their homes, but may not travel to other comunas.
Comunas at Paso 2 (Transition) are subject to 24-hour quarantine only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Citizens with a Mobility Pass may leave their homes, and travel to other comunas or regions that are in Paso 2 or higher.
Comunas at Paso 3 (Preparation) are not subject to a quarantine.
Pasos 4 and 5 have further reductions on the imposed limitations and prohibitions of activities.

Transportation Options:

Are commercial flights operating? Yes.
Is public transportation operating? Yes.
Face masks are required on all public transportation. Obey signage regarding social distancing.

There are no national COVID-19 restrictions, but departments and municipalities have the authority to impose COVID-19 restrictions at the local level.
Many city and municipal governments throughout Bolivia are reimplementing mandatory transit restrictions during evening hours and weekends. These restrictions can be imposed with limited to no warning.
The wearing of facemasks in public places is mandatory and social distancing measures must be respected.
Concerning schools, departments and municipalities will have the authority to determine education schedules and if students will return to the classroom in-person. Some areas have full or partially reopened schools, whereas other remain firmly closed.
Most borders with neighboring countries remain open, however, some of the countries bordering Bolivia have maintained closure of their land borders and thus entering and exiting Bolivia by land may not be possible at this time.

COVID-19 Testing:

Are PCR and/or antigen tests available for U.S. citizens in Bolivia? PCR and antigen tests are widely available in Bolivia.
If so, are test results reliably available within 72 hours? Yes.
Numerous private and public clinics throughout Bolivia offer COVID-19 testing. For a comprehensive list of COVID-19 testing centers, please visit our medical assistance page.
The designated government agency regulating COVID-19 testing in Bolivia is the Servicio Departamental de Salud (SEDES).
There are 9 branches of SEDES in the 9 Departments of Bolivia.
- First step is to contact SEDES for evaluation at 800-10-2930.
- The two available tests are the Quick Test and the PCR test.
- The test can be done through SEDES or at a private Hospital or Lab.
- In either case, the price for the Quick Test averages is US$ 50.00 and the PCR test price averages is US$ 135. The costs of the test are paid in full by the patient.
- COVID-19 tests results can be issued by email, text messages or physical copies.
Please note for all travelers to the United States, the ELISA quick test commonly used to test for COVID-19 antibodies in Bolivia does not meet the requirements set by the CDC for travel to the United States. Travelers will need to show proof of a negative PCR test.

Humanitarian exemptions to this order will be granted on an extremely limited basis and will only be considered when the country of departure lacks adequate COVID-19 testing capacity. To submit information in support of an exemption, email ConsularLaPazACS@state.gov.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information:

Has the government of Bolivia approved a COVID-19 vaccine for use? Yes.
Are vaccines available in Bolivia for U.S. citizens to receive? Only for U.S. citizens with permanent residency in Bolivia.
Which vaccines are available in Bolivia? The Bolivia Ministry of Health has approved the use of the Sputnik V and Sinopharm vaccines. The government of Bolivia is carefully considering the approval, emergency use, and purchase of other COVID-19 vaccines.
The Bolivian government will give priority to front-line healthcare workers and vulnerable communities, such as the elderly. The U.S. Embassy does not have an estimation about when a COVID-19 vaccine will be widely available in Bolivia. U.S. citizens should consult their local healthcare providers for additional information.

The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes
- Air borders are open and commercial flights are permitted to operate.
- Diplomats, members of special missions and international organizations, technical specialists, and drivers of international goods and cargo will be permitted to return to the country with no enforced quarantine upon their arrival provided that they submit a valid certification of the PCR test specifically for COVID-19 with a negative result taken within three days prior to the flight.
- Travelers should be prepared for additional travel restrictions affecting international travel to be put into effect with little or no advance notice. Visit the Official Site of the Government of Bolivia on COVID-19 for updated information on these measures.
Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes.
- Certified negative PCR test for every passenger over 5 years of age.
  - The test must be taken 72 hours prior to departure, regardless of the country of travel origin.
- Travelers are required to quarantine for at least 10 days after entering Bolivia. Diplomats are exempt from this measure.
- Travelers will be required to submit a sworn statement of location of stay within Bolivia.
- All travelers entering Bolivia will be required to have another RT-PCR test taken 7 days after arrival. The cost of this test must be covered by the traveler
- Travelers who do not have permanent residence in Bolivia must have health insurance with coverage for COVID-19 upon entry to Bolivia.
Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes
- All passengers will have their temperature taken prior to entering airports and the pre-boarding areas. Individuals with a fever or a temperature over 38°C (100.4°F) will be referred to the airport medical unit for a medical evaluation.
Minors under 18 may only travel with a parent or legal guardian.
Minors of any nationality who have been residing in Bolivia for over 90 days and will be traveling with only one parent, will need to get a travel authorization from the Juzgado del Menor.
Children may not travel unaccompanied.

Movement Restrictions:

Is a curfew in place? In certain city and municipal jurisdictions throughout Bolivia, mandatory transit restrictions are in place. These measures are aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19. Transit restrictions are largely implemented during overnight hours and weekends. However, city and municipal government have the authority to implement tighter transit restrictions with little or no advanced notice.
Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? No.

Quarantine Information:

Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? Yes

Travelers are required to quarantine for at least 10 days after entering Bolivia.
Travelers will be required to submit a sworn statement of location of stay within Bolivia.
All travelers entering Bolivia will be required to have another RT-PCR test taken 7 days after arrival. The cost of this test must be covered by the traveler.

Transportation Options:

Are commercial flights operating? Yes
- Commercial airlines operating in Bolivia have continued to run periodic flights to Miami and other foreign destinations during Bolivian quarantine measures.
- The two local airlines currently operating international and domestic flights are BOA and Amaszonas. Ecojet is only operating domestic flights.
- Travelers should be prepared for travel restrictions affecting international travel to be put into effect with little or no advance notice.
Is public transportation operating? Yes.
- Social distancing and the use of masks in public vehicles places remains obligatory.

Consular Operations:

What ACS services are being offered?
- The Consular Section has resumed routine U.S. citizen services.
- S. citizens seeking emergency services should contact the Consular Section via email: ConsularLaPazACS@state.gov.
- Please monitor the Embassy website for information concerning the resumption of consular services.
What visa services are being offered?
- The Consular Section has resumed most visa services for immigrant and nonimmigrant visa categories. Due to increased demand and mandatory biosecurity measures, visa applicants should anticipate longer than usual wait times for a visa interview appointment.
- Travelers needing consular assistance for legitimate emergency travel to the United States should contact the Consular Section via email: ConsularLaPazNIV@state.gov.
- Please monitor the Embassy website for information concerning the resumption of consular services.

Entry For Vaccinated Travelers: Allowed
Vaccination Requirements: Travelers can visit Ecuador as long as they show proof of vaccination at the airport before departure.

You do not need to provide PCR test.

Visitors will be asked about and screened for symptoms (such as fever, cough, general malaise, loss of smell, loss of taste) upon arrival in Ecuador and will be evaluated by health ministry personnel. If there’s cause for concern, travelers will be required to take a rapid antigen test and, if it comes back positive, isolate for 10 days at their own expense. If the rapid antigen test is negative, the visitor can continue on their trip and will not need to isolate.

Travelers in Ecuador must abide by safety protocols including mandatory mask wearing, maintaining a social distance, and avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people.

Testing: Covid-19 test is required for travellers without covid-19 test result.
Quarantine Required: Depends
Quarantine Details: Quarantine for 10 days required for all travellers without covid-19 test results.

Detailed Travel Advisory

1. Passengers must have:
– a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure; or
– a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure.
This does not apply to:
– passengers younger than 2 years;
– passengers arriving from or who have transited through Brazil or India.
2. Passengers arriving from or who have transited through Brazil or India must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure.
– This does not apply to passengers younger than 2 years.
3. Passengers could be subject to a COVID-19 antigen test upon arrival.
– This does not apply to passengers younger than 14 years.
4. Passengers are subject to medical screening.
5. A completed “Declaracion de salud del viajero” must be presented upon arrival. The form can be found at https://www.cancilleria.gob.ec/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/formulario_de_salud_del_viajero_revisado.pdf.pdf_1-1.pdf .
6. Passengers arriving from or who have transited through Brazil or India are subject to quarantine for 10 days at their own expense.

Detailed Tourist Information

Tourists with the COVID-19 vaccine can enter the country and travel to one of its most popular island destinations: the Galapagos Islands. In addition to their vaccination certificate, travelers must show proof of a negative PCR or antigen test taken within 72 hours of their trip.

Unvaccinated travelers are also allowed to visit Ecuador and its famous island archipelago with proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure. Those traveling from Ecuador to the Galapagos will need a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of travel, according to the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador. Travelers who tested negative to enter Ecuador will have to test again, at their own expense, if their trip to the Galapagos is not within 96 hours.

All visitors are required to comply with social distancing regulations and wear face masks throughout their stay.

Lockdown Details

Power to impose traffic restrictions and controls on social gatherings lies with local municipalities and other competent authorities, in conjunction with Ecuador’s National Emergency Operations Committee (COE).

Please check more detailed information with local authorities – details below – to ensure that you comply with any local restrictions, including vehicle circulation restrictions in your area.

The general nationwide biosecurity measures include:

-extra precaution advised for people over 60 years old, and those whose medical conditions make them vulnerable to COVID-19
-mandatory use of face masks in public spaces.
-all individuals to comply with social distancing measures and practice frequent hand washing
-in-person school classes have been suspended since 2020. Blended classes (mix of in-person and online) will be allowed to take place from 26 April, if the school’s COVID -action plan has been approved by the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE)
-remote working continues to be encouraged
-public gatherings and mass events are prohibited
-the reopening of beaches will continue to be monitored via the “Distancia2” app.
-authorised labs to undertake COVID-19 tests
-a nationwide tracing app ( ̔ASI Ecuador̕ ) is available to alert people if they have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case during the last 15 days. The app is -supported via Bluetooth and maintains the confidentiality of users
-land borders with Colombia and Peru remain closed until further notice. However, Ecuadorean nationals and foreign residents may be allowed to enter Ecuador via the —Rumichaca and Huaquillas northern and southern borders.
-ports remain closed for travel/tourism activities. Only cargo services are allowed

The state of emergency for the provinces of Azuay, El Oro, Esmeraldas, Guayas, Loja, Manabi, Pichincha and Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, ended on 9 April 2021. However, the National Emergency Operations Committee made a recommendation in their resolution of 14 April, that these provinces, plus those of Santa Elena, Los Rios and Zamora, should consider restricting vehicle circulation from 8pm to 5am from 16 April to 2 May. They also recommended that the Ministry of Education should suspend in-person classes in all these provinces due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases reported.

COE´s resolution of 14 April also recommends a further traffic restriction along national highways, from Friday to Sunday between 8pm and 5am, during the whole month of April.

The above vehicle restrictions do not apply for key sectors such as public and private healthcare, security, basic public services, emergency response, produce sectors and those who need to transport goods and food; people who are transporting passengers to/from the airport (showing flight tickets) and for verified medical emergencies and appointments are also exempt.

The Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs of Malta provides travel advice on its website to inform the general public of conditions abroad that may affect the safety and security of Maltese nationals travelling, working or living abroad.

NOTICE: AS FROM 14th JULY 2021 AT 00:01hrs, ALL COUNTRIES/ZONES PREVIOUSLY LISTED AS AMBER WILL BE CLASSIFIED AS RED, THUS ONLY PERSONS IN POSSESSION OF A VALID RECOGNISED VACCINE CERTIFICATE WILL BE PERMITTED TO TRAVEL TO MALTA.

All passengers arriving from abroad will be required to submit a completed Passenger Locator Form (https://www.maltairport.com/declarationforms/) and present valid vaccination certificate recognised by the Superintendent of Public Health (age 12+), which at present are the following:

“MT Vaccine certificate” full course of vaccination with 14 day after last dose.
“NHS COVID Pass “ NHS Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination record – full course of vaccination with 14 day after last dose.
“EU Digital COVID Certificate (Vaccination Certificate) “ full course of vaccination with 14 day after last dose.
“Dubai Health Authority Vaccine Certificate “– TWO doses received” with 14 days from last dose.
“Turkish vaccine certificate” – TWO doses received with 14 days from last dose.
“USA CDC record card” as from 19th July with specific app recognition as from the 1st of August. full course of vaccination with 14 day after last dose.
The Serbian “Digital Green Certificate” with a readable QR Code.

In order to bring its services and those of its diplomatic representations closer to the public, the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs now has a mobile application. This app – Malta Travel Point, that can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store or Google Play aims to address difficulties that Maltese citizens may encounter while travelling abroad. Malta Travel Point offers simple and direct information in case travellers need information on the nearest hospital or police station in the area as well as contact details of the nearest diplomatic representation. The information is available in Maltese and English languages. Thanks to this app, Maltese citizens may access important telephone numbers when they need them most as well as a host of other valuable information. This application is part of Maltapps launched by the government to make its services more accessible to the public.

Before you book your ticket to Iceland, here’s a snapshot of current travel restrictions and entry requirements.

We offer a friendly reminder to travelers that it is their responsibility to ensure they have the relevant documents and meet the entry requirements for their destination.

A quick online guide to border measures

Ísland.is offers an online guide to take you through the rules that apply when you visit Iceland, tailored to your specific situation (your vaccination status, nationality, etc).

Passengers vaccinated against COVID-19 or recovered from it

Can you visit Iceland? Yes. All travelers – regardless of origin – are welcome to visit Iceland if they can show either a certificate of full vaccination against COVID, or a certificate of previous COVID infection. See What do I need on my certificate of vaccination or previous infection?

Do you need to provide a negative test? Yes. From July 27, you require a negative test (PCR or rapid antigen) before boarding an aircraft to Iceland, taken within 72 hours of departure. See information under Do I need a negative COVID-19 test to board a flight to Iceland?

Do you need to be tested on arrival, or enter quarantine? No. There is no longer a requirement for arrival testing for passengers vaccinated against COVID-19 or recovered from it. However, from July 27, residents of Iceland and others who have widespread social ties in the country are encouraged to get tested as soon as possible after arriving in Iceland, even when they are asymptomatic.

Passengers not vaccinated against COVID-19 and not previously infected

Can you visit Iceland? Visitors holding a passport (or valid residency) from EEA/EFTA countries are welcome to visit Iceland. A growing list of non-EEA/EFTA nationalities may enter, including travelers from the US and Canada. See Who can visit Iceland? below for more detailed information.

Do you need a PCR test? Yes. You require a negative PCR test before boarding an aircraft to Iceland, taken within 72 hours of departure. Rapid antigen tests are not accepted. See information under Do I need a negative COVID-19 test to board a flight to Iceland?

Is there arrival testing and quarantine? Yes. Arriving passengers must undergo a COVID-19 test upon arrival at the airport, followed by 5 days of quarantine, then a second test. Arranging a COVID test for your return home

Many countries now require passengers to present a negative COVID-19 test result before their journey. All passengers traveling to the USA need to have a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country.

There has been a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Senegal over the past several weeks.
The Government of Senegal encourages individuals who believe they may be ill to seek care early, and encourages everyone to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The government also encourages individuals to avoid all gatherings and travel. Use of facial coverings is mandatory in public places and in private places receiving the public.
Restaurants, casinos, places of worship, private beaches, sporting events and markets are permitted to operate while maintaining social distancing measures and facial coverings. Violators of facial covering requirements face possible detention and fines imposed by law enforcement officials.
Public transportation services (taxis, care rapides and intercity buses) may transport the maximum number of passengers, provided all passengers wear a mask. Violators of facial covering requirements face possible detention and fines imposed by law enforcement officials.
The Government of Senegal has implemented restrictions that impact entry into Senegal for certain foreign nationals. Travelers who are not citizens or residents of Senegal or a country that is a member of the Economic Community of West African States, or who do not meet certain other exemptions outlined here, may be denied entry or face difficulty traveling to Senegal. U.S. citizens are not currently subject to these restrictions but must comply with other COVID-testing entry requirements (see Entry and Exit requirements below). Register for S.T.E.P. COVID-19 Vaccine Information:

Has the government of Senegal approved a COVID-19 vaccine for use? Yes
Are vaccines available in Senegal for U.S. citizens to receive? Yes
Which vaccines are available in Senegal? Senegal has made available the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines received through the COVAX program. Currently only the Sinopharm and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available in Dakar.
The Government of Senegal has made vaccines available to all through local health clinics free of charge to anyone in the target population of adults aged 18 and older. Individuals must present a valid ID (National ID card, driver’s license, passport, etc). Public hospitals in Dakar are also distributing vaccines. Vaccination hours are Monday through Saturday from 9am to 3pm..

Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes
- All travelers to Senegal over the age of two years must present an original COVID-19 test certificate showing a negative result. The test must occur within five days of entry into Senegal. The results must be from a PCR test (not a rapid test) and be issued by a laboratory approved for such testing or a recognized international health organization. Travelers transiting Senegal must also show such proof if they will be present in Senegal more than 24 hours or wish to exit the airport.
- Verification of testing compliance will be undertaken by the airline prior to departure. Passengers without a negative COVID-19 test may not be permitted to board.
- The Government of Senegal has implemented restrictions that impact entry into Senegal for certain foreign nationals. We encourage all people intending to travel to Senegal to contact their airline for additional information.
Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? No, testing must be obtained within five days in advance of arrival to Senegal.
Extensions of visa and residency permits: The U.S. Embassy in Dakar is currently scheduling a limited number of routine notary services to accommodate requests for residency permits in Senegal. 1. Passengers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 7 days or at least 3 days before departure from the last embarkation point.
2. Passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival must have a confirmed accommodation reservation booked at https://mauritiusnow.com/where-to-stay-in-mauritius/ . Vaccines accepted are: Astra Zeneca (Covishield and Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech Sinovac, Sinopharm or Sputnik.
3. Passengers without a COVID-19 vaccination certificate must have a confirmed accommodation reservation booked at https://mauritiusnow.com/where-to-stay-in-mauritius/ and are subject to quarantine for 14 days.
4. Passengers are subject to a PCR test upon arrival.

With one of the nation’s highest vaccination rates and lowest case rates, California is open to welcome visitors.

Large events (over 10,000 people outdoors or 5,000 indoors), including theme parks and large sporting events, may have some restrictions. Attendees should check guidelines with event operators when buying tickets or making reservations.

Masks are required for everyone in indoor public settings in some counties, including Los Angeles, and recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control for indoor public settings in most of the state.

July 31, 2021: Information on entry restrictions, testing and quarantine regulations in the Czech Republic

As of July 31^st, 2021, the Ministry of Health updated the Protective Measure regarding the conditions of entry into the Czech Republic.
Children between 6 to 12 years of age travelling from the countries with a high or a very high risk of COVID-19 transmission may undergo RT-PCR immediately after their arrival in the Czech Republic and finish self-isolation by obtaining of a negative test result. This age group also does not need to be tested before arrival to the Czech Republic any more. An updated measure also newly enable to accept applications for long-term visas and long-term residence permits for the purpose of study pursuant to § 64 para. a) of Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Czech Republic and on the amendment of certain acts as amended (study in accredited study programmes at a university for the academic / school year 2021/2022) in the countries with extreme risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Entry into the territory of the Czech Republic

The rules for entering the territory of the Czech Republic and quarantine measures are defined by the Ministry of Health (pdf, 641 kB). Information regarding entry to other countries is the responsibility of the embassies in the countries of destination and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The activities of diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic are gradually resumed. Depending on the epidemiological situation, the conditions for entry into the Czech Republic will also be gradually relaxed. International travelers who entered Colombia should not present a negative PCR test to enter the country. They only have to do their Check-Mig registration 24 hours before their flight at the following link: migracioncolombia.gov.co.
Currently, Colombia has 20 airlines in operation connecting 8 destinations nationwide with 22 countries in the world.
If you are traveling to the interior of the country, you do not need to present your negative PCR test. Nor will it be required to have the information downloaded and filled out in the CoronApp mobile application.
In the case of Spain, from June 7, vaccinated travelers from all over the world will be able to enter, not just Europeans.
There are mobility restrictions in some destinations in the country according to the level of contagion and occupation of the Intensive Care Units. However, since June 8, commercial establishments and other economic activities were reopened in the cities of Bogotá and Medellín, maintaining all biosafety measures (face masks, distancing, hand washing, ventilation), prioritizing outdoor activities and controls capacity.

COVID-19 UPDATE IN COLOMBIA

Colombian Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz, announced the beginning of the fifth vaccination stage for people between 25 to 29 years old who can get vaccinated by scheduling an appointment with their health care provider (EPS) and complying with the pico and cédula vaccination system. People who are part to the previous vaccination stage (40 to 30 years of age) can get vaccinated at any time. Those who are between the ages of 12 to 34 can only get the vaccine if they present any comorbidities.
In Colombia, up until July 19th, 26’515.327 dosages of the vaccines have been administered and 11’892.153 people are fully vaccinated.
The peak of infections and deaths from COVID-19 in the national territory has decreased at a consistent rate since June 29th, going from 27.908 infections per day to 9.690 by July 27th, 2021.
According to the latest genome analysis report performed in the country on July 9th, there have not been any reports of infections from the COVID-19 Delta Variant originated in India.

7. Airline crew must have their names listed on the General Declaration.
8. Airline crew are subject to quarantine until their next flight and must install ’MySejahtera app’ in their phone.
9. The maximum transit time through Kuala Lumpur (KUL) changed from 48 hours to 24 hours.
10. Transfer from an international flight to a domestic flight is not allowed.
– This does not apply to nationals of Malaysia traveling to Sarawak.

The following passengers are not allowed entry to Malaysia:

– Passengers/nationals of Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, France, German, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States.
– Passengers from the aforementioned nations, however, can transit in KLIA within 24 hours.
– Transit passengers bound for China.

Effective May 08, 2021, foreign nationals from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Nepal (including earlier advisory for India) travelling to or transiting in Malaysia are not allowed until further notice. This entry restriction applies to:

– All category of Long-Term Visit Pass holders (including student pass).

– Business travelers; and

– Social Visit Pass (the ban has been imposed earlier since 7 September 2020).

– The following categories of passengers with entry approval obtained through My travel Pass (MTP) may be allowed from to enter Malaysia but subject to a 14-day quarantine.
*Permanent Residents and Holders of Long Terms Social Visit Pass
*Holders of Diplomatic Passport and Officials including their family members.

– Entry and exit approval that have been obtained earlier (7 May and earlier), either through MyTravelPass, MyEntry or any other mechanism are VOID and no longer valid.
*Note: Following the above entry restriction, the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka will temporarily suspend all Visa related services until further notice.

Lockdown Details

As of June 27 authorities have extended strict nationwide COVID-19 measures through to an undetermined date. The measures were due to expire June 28, but will now remain in place until daily cases fall below 4,000; the country reported approximately 5,800 cases June 26.

The ongoing restrictions, known as movement control orders (MCO), limit business activity and travel. On-site operations of nonessential sectors are suspended. Essential industries that may continue operating on-site include manufacturing essential goods, selected construction activities, essential government services, agriculture, utilities, and security services. Businesses that are allowed to operate on-site can open only 08:00-20:00. Shopping malls are closed, except for supermarkets, food establishments, and other essential businesses. Only two people from each household can leave their residence at any one time, and individuals must stay within 10 km (6 miles) of their residence. While there is no nationwide curfew, the government has encouraged people to remain in their residence after 20:00 nightly.

Authorities have also imposed enhanced movement control orders (EMCO), the strictest level of curbs, in areas with higher local COVID-19 activity. The locations include neighborhoods in Sabah, Sarawak, Labuab, and Penang. EMCO rules typically include stay-at-home orders and a ban on travel into and out of the affected areas. Most nonessential businesses are closed, and employees are required to work from home to the extent possible.

UPDATE TO COVID-19 REGULATIONS – ADJUSTED LEVEL 4

In response to South Africa entering the third wave of COVID-19 infections, President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the country would be placed on adjusted alert level 4, in accordance to the country’s risk adjusted strategy.

The move to adjusted alert level 4 is effective for 14 days as of Monday, 28 June until Sunday 11 July 2021.

The President outlined the following key measures, which have been implemented to combat the rise in infection numbers:

All gatherings, both indoor and outdoor, are prohibited.
Funerals and cremations are permitted with attendance is limited to 50 people.
Public spaces such as beaches and parks will remain open but no gatherings will be permitted in these spaces.
The times of curfew have been adjusted to between 21h00 – 04h00, daily. All non-essential establishments need to close by 20h00 to allow staff to travel home.
The sale of alcohol both for onsite and offsite consumption is prohibited.
Travel in and out of Gauteng for leisure purposes is prohibited. Those that are currently not in their place of residence will be permitted to travel back home.
Restaurants will only be open for take away and delivery.
All schools will be closed for the winter holidays by Friday, 2 July 2021.

President Ramaphosa emphasized that these measures are designed to allow for as much economic activity as possible, whilst limiting social contact.

South Africa’s borders remain open and leisure travel between other provinces, other than Gauteng remains open.

The President also gave an update on the vaccination program, with 2.2 million South Africans being vaccinated, as part of phase 2 of the vaccination program, bringing the number up to 2.7 million vaccines administered all together. He also announced that vaccination will soon open for persons aged 50 and above.

In his address, President Ramaphosa attributed the rise in infections to the Delta variant, which was first identified in India and is now in 85 other countries. In South Africa, this variant has been found in five provinces; Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State and KwaZulu Natal.

The evidence presented by scientists suggests that the Delta variant is rapidly displacing the Beta variant, which has been dominant in South Africa until now.

The Delta variant is more transmissible than previously circulating variants and is thought to be twice as contagious as the Beta variant.
