Hilton Expands Presence in Colombia with Debut of Hilton Santa Marta

January 09, 2023 – Hilton Santa Marta

Hilton announces the opening of Hilton Santa Marta, Hilton’s second hotel in Colombia’s oldest Hispanic city. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the contemporary 261-room property is within walking distance from the beach and conveniently located near the mountains of Sierra Nevada and the ancient ruins of Tayrona National Natural Park
The newly constructed hotel features five unique dining experiences, more than 11,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space and an array of amenities.

Hilton Santa Marta

“The opening of Hilton Santa Marta is an exciting addition to our rapidly growing portfolio of more than 200 hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Jorge Giannattasio, senior vice president and head of operations, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “We are thrilled to open our second hotel in Santa Marta and offer an elevated experience and Hilton’s friendly service in this unique destination in Colombia that blends beaches, mountains and exuberant nature.”

Just eight miles from Santa Marta’s historical downtown and four miles from Simon Bolivar International Airport, Hilton Santa Marta offers an ideal location for guests visiting the city. The first Spanish settlement established in 1525, Santa Marta is the gateway to Tayrona National Natural Park, a natural reserve with more than 37,000 acres of white-sand beaches with crystalline waters nestled against a lush, hillside forest. The land and sea park is also home to archaeological sites, indigenous communities and diverse flora and fauna.

Inspired by its surroundings, Hilton Santa Marta’s contemporary design creates an elegant and warm ambiance through elements of stones, woods, metals and crystals. The hotel’s main entrance features a water mirror made of Tayrona stone and a façade composed of a metal structure inspired by the nearby coral reefs, allowing for seamless integration of the interior with the exterior through a harmonious passage of natural light.

The hotel’s design concept spans into the guest room corridors, decorated with woodwork engraved by local artisans and showcasing the area’s diverse marine wildlife, including manta rays, lionfish and turtles. Spacious guest rooms offer balconies with ocean or mountain views, ample closet space and a large shower. For those seeking more spacious accommodations, suites with a separate living area with a sofa bed allow travelers to spread out, notably the Ocean Front Suite Terrace and its oversized furnished balcony with a hot tub, sizeable living room and spacious dining room.

“We are delighted to expand the footprint of Hilton’s flagship brand in this spectacular destination with the debut of Hilton Santa Maria,” said Leonard Gooz, global brand head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. “Hilton Hotels & Resorts will continue to set the benchmark for hospitality at this new property with intuitive service and world-class amenities, including an array of dining options, contemporary design with local influences and exceptional event experiences.”

Unique Dining Experiences
Hilton Santa Marta features five unique culinary concepts that showcase local cuisine and international flavors, with restaurant names honoring the native Arhuaco language.

Nuggu Restaurant and Bar, meaning “salt,” pays homage to Colombia’s rich history with Latin soul food and Caribbean Creole authentic dishes. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests can also stop by for a cocktail or glass of wine throughout the day.
Located on the second floor near the hotel’s spa and fitness center, Waku, or “fish” in Arhuaco, offers a selection of seafood and catch of the day in a vibrant atmosphere.
Guests lounging by the pool can enjoy a casual globally-inspired lunch and refreshing drinks honoring local fruits at the pool bar Uzu, or “sand.”

The highest rooftop lounge and bar in the city, Sikunu, or “slingshot,” is located on the hotel’s 16th floor. The Creole menu is influenced by prehispanic cultures and based on the flowers of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Signature cocktails are inspired by the Arhuaco, including clove and aniseed maceration.
Guests can enjoy the beach and the famous Santa Marta sunset from the hotel’s beach club, while enjoying a selection of snacks and cocktails.
Entertainment for All
Whether traveling for business or leisure with friends or family, Hilton Santa Marta offers a range of activities for all ages. Guests can soak up the sun at the beach club or the family pool on the second floor. For breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Caribbean Sea, head to Sikunu Sky Bar, the highest rooftop bar in the city, to enjoy the infinity adults-only pool or relax in the hot tub. Later this year, the hotel will introduce a Kids’ Club, a spa with six treatment rooms, a beauty salon and an exclusive lounge for Hilton Honors members and suites’ guests.

InterContinental Saigon unveils the newly renovated Grand Ballroom and Function Spaces

January 06, 2023 – InterContinental Saigon

InterContinental Saigon is ecstatic to announce an exciting transformation of its Grand Ballroom and function spaces. Inspired by the national symbol of Vietnam, the lotus, the newly renovated ballroom, pre-function and meeting rooms at the InterContinental Saigon pay homage to Ho Chi Minh City and its surrounding landscape. The multi-million dollar renovation which encompassed the 2,560 square meters of indoor and outdoor event meeting space, including six function rooms and an outdoor terrace, ranging from the compact Hon Ong meeting room to the expansive Grand Ballroom, opens up a new frontier for Ho Chi Minh City’s thriving MICE sector.

InterContinental Saigon

Setting the new benchmark for meetings in Ho Chi Minh City, our newly renovated meeting rooms have all been clad in beautiful timber with delicate metal detailing. All meeting rooms and board rooms are also designed with a multipurpose cabinet that is outfitted with a display area and storage on either sides. Double sliding doors with ribbed glass conceal the TV when not in use and showcase the display area. When guests want to use the TV, the doors slide to either side and reveal an 85″ interactive TV with video conference capabilities. These sliding doors may also be used for writing, replacing the need for additional flipcharts.

At the centre of the function spaces is a chic, stylish and magnificent 818-square meter pillar-free Grand Ballroom that can host up to 1200 attendees for life’s most meaningful and memorable moments, such as gala dinners, award ceremonies, corporate conventions, one-of-a-kind weddings and more. It is fully equipped with the latest audio-visual technology and can be flexibly divided into two separate spaces for more intimate events. The Grand Ballroom is decked with an oversized interactive chandelier featuring 7,980 individually hung crystal lightbulbs that represent glistening water when viewed from underneath.

The chandelier also comes equipped with its own state-of-the-art adjustable lighting technology systems that can be changed to evoke different moods with the use of RGBW LED lighting control system. The Grand Ballroom also boasts an awe-inspiring 8.5m by 4.5m LED wall, the largest screen in town and with its new inspiring architecture, InterContinental Saigon’s Grand Ballroom gives your celebration a glamorous and deeply sensorial experience.

Upon entering the Pre-Function foyer, guests will be impressed by a curvilinear fabric ceiling feature that depicts the Mekong River. This feature ebbs and flows the entire length of the pre-function, giving softness and airiness to the space. The translucent fabric interplays with the specifically created lighting effects and offers a variety of programmable light hues and visual cues that will help further set the mood. The design of the carpet, in coastal hues of navy, beige and yellow – which resembles the water environment that the lotus lives in – covers the floor, while the decorative columns represent the intertwining of the lotus stems in the water as they reach the surface for sunlight.

Just off the Pre-Function area is a new Business Hub, created to cater to the ever-changing needs of guests. This transformable space features built-in ovens, fridge and a generous-sized counter that can be used for a master cooking class. This beautiful space can be used as a meeting room with a lounge or can be used as an auxiliary space to the Pre-Function area.

“Our new Grand Ballroom and conference centre will set a new higher benchmark of spectacular, personalized events for the those looking for a once in a lifetime experience in HCMC, I am thrilled to open the doors for all to see”, said Justin Malcolm, General Manager. Standing in the Central Business & Cultural District, InterContinental Saigon is proudly named Vietnam’s Leading Conference Hotel for 10 consecutive years, guaranteeing meeting attendees ease of convergence. With an airport-to-hotel commute of less than 30 minutes, time is freed to focus on business. With the newly renovated function space, we invite you to discover a new era of meetings & events.

The history of Playa del Carmen goes back in time to the Mayan settlers who inhabited the area known as Xaman-Há. There are vestiges of pre-Hispanic buildings in the Playacar area. That is why, today, Playa del Carmen is a cosmopolitan destination visited by tourists from all over the world.

The modern and comfortable public spaces at Aloft Playa del Carmen were conceived to create an environment conducive to the interaction of guests and visitors: the W XYZÒ bar and Re:mixÒ lounge are the ideal settings for listening to the musical offerings of local artists, sipping on music-inspired cocktails, or a casual game of pool; the Nook international cuisine restaurant and the Re:fuel by AloftÒ grab-and-go offering will satisfy hungry travelers. Guests will be able to enjoy one of 50 elegantly designed guestrooms, taking in the impressive vistas of the surrounding snow-topped mountains.

“It’s a pleasure to work alongside Hyatt for this next step in Hotel Flüela’s impressive history,” says Jamie Negus, General Manager, Hotel Flüela “We look forward to combining our expertise with Hyatt’s in theluxury hospitality space to position Hotel Flüela as the hotel of choice for the many high-end travelers looking for world-class service and elevated experiences whilst visiting Davos.”

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand is a distinct collection of extraordinary and inspiring properties, encouraging guests to experience one-of-a-kind stays in some of the world’s most celebrated destinations. The materials used for the interior design all hark back to the grandeur of the 1930s, with terrazzo floors, brass gilded features, velvet accents, enamel restaurant tables and spectacular wood veneered ceilings that lend warmth to the atmosphere of the grand hotel. Meanwhile, the hotel’s facade pays tribute to local 19th century architecture.

Situated just 2 hours and 20 minutes from Paris, Radisson Blu Malo les Bains offers much more than its outstanding location, unrivalled beach views and direct access to the fully renovated Digue des Alliés breakwater.

In addition to two running routes, which run along a three-mile radius of the hotel, guests can hire bikes so they can cycle along the coastline as far as the Belgian border.

Located opposite the hotel is the FRAC contemporary art museum, housing 1,500 pieces of art. There is a wide range of heritage sites to explore within the hotel’s vicinity, such as the 15th century Saint-Eloi Belfry monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Dunkirk, which offers breathtaking views of the coastline about 58 meters above sea level. The port is also home to an open-air museum, featuring ships that have been classified as national historic monuments.

The Dunkerque 1940 Operation Dynamo Museum, found inside the bunkers of Bastion 32, guides visitors through the events of Operation Dynamo, the largest military evacuation in history and a Second World War turning point.

With the health and safety of guests and team members as its top priority, Radisson Blu Grand Hotel & Spa, Malo-les-Bains is implementing the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol program.

Naviva Mexico

Naviva Mexico, Welcomes Guests to the Brand’s First Adult-Only Luxury Tented Resort in the Americas

Naviva Mexico

Naviva Mexico, Welcomes Guests to the Brand’s First Adult-Only Luxury Tented Resort in the Americas

December 22, 2022 – Naviva Mexico

A luxury tented resort as unique as nature itself, Naviva®, A Four Seasons Resort, Punta Mita, Mexico is now welcoming guests to a world where the deep, green jungle is the backdrop for a profoundly personalized retreat.

Naviva Mexico

Naviva Mexico, With just 15 luxury tents surrounded by 48 forested acres (19 hectares) on the edge of a private peninsula, Naviva is an adult-only sanctuary that harnesses nature to create an environment that fosters community, personal growth and appreciation for local heritage. Naviva awakens the intrinsic bond that humans have with nature through biophilic design – an architectural approach that immerses people in their natural surroundings. The transformative journey begins as soon as guests arrive, meeting their personal guide on a cocoon-inspired bamboo bridge overlooking a dramatic forest ravine.
“Naviva Mexico builds on the success of our more than 20 years in Punta Mita, reinforcing everything that our guests love about this idyllic destination while offering an entirely new experience,” says Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President, Global Operations, Hotels and Resorts. “This exceptional project is a testament to our dedication to innovating the guest experience and creating unique concepts within our portfolio that meet guest needs in meaningful, personalized ways.”

“We welcome guests to Naviva Mexico as if they are friends joining us at our own home, while giving them the space and flexibility for their own self-discovery and adventure,” says Ronny Fernández, Resort Manager, Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort. “Together with my team, we’re honoured to unveil this one-of-a-kind experience to the world, showcasing the wonders of Mexico – from embarking on a shamanic sound journey to finding a new level of focus while spearfishing – in a distinctly Four Seasons way.”
Fernàndez continues, “The joy of my role is being able to personally guide guests through these experiences and help them connect more deeply with the wonders around them.”
Biophilic Design: Living in Nature
Through the lens of biophilic design and biomimicry – in which the natural world is the driving influence for design solutions – the natural beauty of Mexico was the key source of inspiration when Naviva was conceptualized with Luxury Frontiers, an award-winning design firm and pioneer in the alternative lodging sector. All building forms, interior designs, and guest experiences tie back to a natural phenomenon, creating a resort concept that is fully derived from nature.

Naviva Mexico blurs the border between the natural and manmade worlds with 15 luxury tents that are designed to be at one with the surrounding jungle. Spacious indoor and outdoor areas invite the verdant sights and sounds of Riviera Nayarit’s unique flora and fauna. An open-air living room and separate bedroom flow to a private plunge pool and expansive outdoor living area, where a hammock, firepit and outdoor shower offer forest-framed refuge. Inside, textures and fabrics reflect natural patterns found in the environment. Oversized bathrooms house deep soaking tubs and skylit showers that reveal uninterrupted visual connections to the outdoors.

The team collaborated with Mexican artists, craftspeople, and manufacturers throughout the design and construction process, not only to support local businesses but also to create spaces with an authentic connection to Mexico’s culture. Highlights include custom furniture from Taracea and Baufaktory; artwork from Emma Boomkamp; reclaimed wooden games from Rasttro; and textiles from Anora Casa.
Life at Naviva: Daily, Signature and Unscripted Experiences
Naviva’s untamed natural setting organically sets the stage for individual transformation through Daily, Signature and Unscripted Naviva experiences that are each rooted in one or more biophilic design principles.
Daily Naviva Mexico experiences focus on movement, gastronomy and cultural insight. Guests may embark on a nature hike to the Aztatlán ruins, savour the ocean’s natural bounty during a “seacuterie” tasting or learn about Aztec culture at a Metztli mythology session.
Signature Naviva experiences bring heritage, tradition and local expertise to the forefront while rooting guests in the natural environment. Guests may challenge their mind and body in the House of Heat, a temazcal designed specifically for Naviva; catch fresh snapper along the Resort’s rocky shoreline; or visit a local artist at their private home and studio.
Contributing to the biophilic principle of mystery as a sensory experience, Unscripted Naviva moments occur spontaneously and may include a surprise picnic in the jungle or exploring little known, small batch Mexican wines.
Nurturing the Mind, Body and Soul
Naviva features a series of intimate wellness spaces including two spa pods tucked away in the forest, a House of Heat temazcal, a cliffside terrace, an open-air gym and nature trails. Each area promotes human connection to nature by grounding guests in tangible and intangible aspects of the environment.
Guests are welcomed directly into their private spa pod to fully use the space how they wish. Inspired by the seed of the local Ceiba tree, each cocoon-like spa structure offers a sense of safety that invites shifts in internal energy. Between transformative spa rituals, guests can spend time in each spa pod’s personal garden, outdoor shower or timber soaking tub.
The House of Heat invites guests on a personalized temazcal journey guided by a dedicated curandero to produce a mind-body awakening. Guests can choose from several focus areas, such as gratitude or devotion, to drive their customized experience. The House of Heat includes a ceremonial fire pit with seating inspired by traditional Mayan stools, a pre- and post-ceremony gathering space and an outdoor shower area.
Naviva guests will also discover wellbeing experiences rooted in the environment at Risco Terrace, where yoga practices include powerful vinyasas and restorative flows, and the outdoor Mar Gym overlooking the Pacific, where strength training workouts incorporate existing formations such as boulders and trees. Guests can find rest and rejuvenation at the Resort’s Selva Pool nestled in the jungle or at La Solana Beach, a private 575-foot (175-metre) expanse of Pacific beachfront.

Culinary Experiences with a Sense of Place
Central to the Resort’s fluid and informal style, every Naviva stay includes all meals, snacks and beverages – including many premium wines and spirits – whenever a guest may wish. Guests can choose to enjoy fresh seafood at Copal Cocina, graze on light bites inspired by local harvest at Selva Pool or enjoy a personalized menu on the deck of their private luxury tent. Exciting dining experiences abound, from impromptu molcajete lessons to chef-prepared dinners in the forest. In-tent dining is also available around the clock.
At the heart of Naviva, Copal Cocina welcomes guests to an open-air kitchen and living room where they may meet a local coffee roaster, pop a bottle of Mexican wine with a sommelier or join Chef Sofia Barrera behind the open-fire grill. With no more than 30 guests at any given time, Copal Cocina offers unique dining experiences that integrate uncommon ingredients and flexible daily offerings that can be adjusted to each guest’s preferences. Local purveyors – including farmers and fishermen – periodically visit the kitchen, allowing guests to develop a deeper connection to the local community.
Honouring Nature Through Sustainability
Naviva’s authentic connection to nature is rooted in its thoughtful conception, which began with the rehabilitation of the land on which it now resides. The development team carefully surveyed the land to build around existing trees and preserve the peninsula’s lush vegetation, hand-placing tents into the existing environment to minimize disruption to the surrounding forest. Select trees were relocated or salvaged for hand-carved timber hooks placed in each luxury tent, and natural stone found onsite was repurposed for benches. The team also took significant measures to protect animal life by creating new paths that mimic the colours of soil and rocks and using specific lighting types to limit light pollution.
Throughout the property, the design team utilized light-on-earth, low-impact construction materials such as reclaimed wood, local stone, copper, bamboo and concrete. In addition, natural ventilation made possible by the region’s prevailing winds limits air conditioning to only the most essential spaces.
As an advocate for sustainable water sourcing, Naviva partnered with SOURCE Water to bottle all drinking water onsite using hydropanel technology that extracts clean, pollutant-free water from the air.
A Retreat Close to Home
Naviva’s location creates the feeling of being disconnected in a faraway destination, when in reality it is only a short flight away from the US and Canada to Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and then just 45 minutes drive to the private peninsula of Punta Mita.
All-encompassing Naviva stays start at USD 3,950 per night and include all meals, snacks and drinks including specialty meals prepared to enjoy throughout the property, one 60-minute spa treatment per guest, daily practices and rituals, and Unscripted Naviva experiences. Signature Naviva experiences, rare or custom-ordered beverages, additional spa treatments, private classes or training and airport transfers are available for an additional cost.
Naviva guests also enjoy full access to the adjacent Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, located five minutes away. The Resort features ten restaurants and bars, two golf courses, three pools, two beaches and additional spa and fitness facilities.
