Smart Buildings Ratings for Hotels to FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village

December 01, 2022 –

UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, today announced that FIVE Hotels and Resorts’ FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village hotels in Dubai are the first hotels to receive UL Verified SPIRE Smart Buildings™ Ratings.
The rating for each building is based on the SPIRE Smart Building Assessment™, an evaluation for smart buildings that results in an overall UL Verified SPIRE Smart Buildings Rating.

FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village

The FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village hotels each received a three-star UL Verified SPIRE Smart Buildings Rating — among the highest-performing program ratings to date for any building category.

“By becoming the first in the luxury hotel space to achieve SPIRE Smart Building Ratings, FIVE Hotels has taken a significant step in validating and demonstrating smart building innovation at two of their landmark properties,” said Sudhi Sinha, vice president of Ecosystems and Service Development group for UL Solutions. “Hotels are complex ecosystems to manage, often with multiple priorities. By assessing, validating and rating key hotel elements that consider the entirety of a smart building, the UL Verified SPIRE Smart Buildings Rating supports FIVE Hotels’ commitment to enhancing sustainability and building performance that improve the overall guest experience and help increase asset value. We thank them for putting their trust in UL Solutions to deliver on that promise.”

The FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village hotels received an in-depth, on-site and virtual audit of each of the building’s assets, technologies and processes. To assess for the SPIRE Smart Buildings Ratings, UL Solutions focused on six key, industry-driven building criteria categories that define the full scope of smart building performance, including power and energy, health and well-being, life and property safety, connectivity, cybersecurity and sustainability.

“With the emergence of FIVE as the first hotel group in the world to achieve SPIRE Smart Buildings Ratings for the FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village in Dubai, I am humbled by the dedication of the entire FIVE team, which drove environmental and social excellence,” said Kabir Mulchandani, founder and chairman, FIVE Hotels and Resorts. “The FIVE ethos is centered around encouraging a community committed to stewarding world-class sustainability. Therefore, the UL Verified SPIRE Smart Buildings Ratings helped FIVE enhance our sustainability scope to now include seamless cybersecurity, digital connectivity and social safety. We are excited to continue to execute immersive entertainment and luxury lifestyle experiences through a sustainability framework founded on science-driven best practices for smart buildings.”

The SPIRE Smart Buildings program is the first smart building assessment program that offers an independent analysis of the actual performance of a building. SPIRE evaluates buildings against a curated, multifactor framework developed with insights from more than 60 diverse, industry-leading organizations specialized in the buildings industry. The UL Verified SPIRE Smart Buildings Rating helps empower building operators as they consider smart building needs in the face of new and evolving influences. These include the physical assets decarbonization, business and building mission alignment, occupant experiences, cybersecurity concerns, artificial intelligence, image perception, and robotics being introduced into the built environment. In addition, recent health concerns have brought new priorities to building operators looking for smart building systems to help keep occupants safe. SPIRE assessments provide insight into smart building performance and also help communicate a commitment to the health and well-being of its occupants.

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites opens with 52 keys

November 25, 2022 –

JW Marriott announced the opening of the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites, an all-suite luxury retreat nestled in a beautiful beachside setting on southern Thailand’s Andaman coast. The resort’s 52 stylish two-bedroom suites range from 89 to 111 square meters with bright indoor and outdoor spaces, Southern Thai-inspired design, contemporary living areas and private terraces or balconies that overlook the natural tropical surroundings. On the ground floor, a collection of pool access suites allows guests to step straight into the inviting 2.4 km-long lagoon swimming pool, Southeast Asia’s longest.

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites shares the extensive facilities of JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, and is located in the box seat for family activities, overlooking the new Aqua Play Zone, an exhilarating destination for families and where the water fun, literally, lasts all day long. Highlights include the wave pool where kids and families get the chance to duck and dive before heading over to the fountain trampoline, an inventive activity designed for, what else, jumping!

The aqua theme continues with a waterslide and outdoor playground before kids and parents can retreat to the Sala Restaurant & Bar, a cool, casual outlet serving comfortable, familiar and healthy classics. Sala is expected to quickly become basecamp for kids during their stay so they are close to the action – and can take part in the daily pasta making, mixology masterclasses and marshmallow roasting held at Sala.

Friends and family can also have a go at Muay Thai Sea Boxing, a hilarious but highly competitive sport where two boxers sit astride a poll and try to knock each other off. One of many other activities available are helping the environment in the Art of Trash workshop, or guests can simply cruise around the 2.4 km pool on their floating hammocks, grabbing an ice-cold fresh coconut on the way courtesy of the resort boats that ply the waters – before catching a movie at the beach. Alternatively, families can enjoy a beach picnic in our family tents – or enjoy the interactive Teppanyaki Show at Sakura Japanese restaurant.

The resort’s collection of 11 restaurants and bars offer an array of dining choices, ranging from traditional Thai cuisine with sunset views at Ta-Krai to authentic Italian cuisine at Olive, and international fare at Waterfront. New additions include Sala Restaurant & Pool Bar, while Drift Beach Bar & Grill is the resort’s new steak and seafood grill, inspired by regional Mediterranean cuisine. All-day refreshments and cocktails can be enjoyed at the Deli, Beach Bar, Infinity Pool Bar, Aquamarine Pool Bar and Czar Lobby Bar.

Family vacations are all about reconnecting with your loved ones, and a key ingredient for this is the JW Garden, an outdoor space dedicated to cultivating organic vegetables and herbs. Here families are guided by the resort’s chef to pick fresh ingredients and learn how to cook Thai dishes. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a family picnic among the fragrant herbs and flowers, or even in the privacy of their own suite or villa.

The unique Suites experience also provides access to state-of-the-art meeting facilities, a fully-equipped fitness center, tennis and squash courts, the Kids Club and Quan Spa, which offers holistic healing therapies from traditional Thai massages to revitalising body wraps and scrubs, many of which use organic coconut oil produced onsite at the resort. A series of serene spaces such as cozy cabanas let guests reconnect and create memorable moments, whilst Khuk Khak Beach offers an idyllic setting to stroll, splash or sit in the shade of palm trees.

“The opening of JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites, with its spacious accommodation and outstanding service co-located with the expanded and renovated JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, provides the perfect accommodation option for families, young and old, enabling all guests to come together and create meaningful connections,” said Jakob Helgen, area vice president – Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International.

“I am delighted to unveil JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites and to welcome travelers from around the world,” said Abhimanyu Singh, general manager, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites. “The JW Marriott brand focuses on what matters most in life, connecting with our loved ones and enriching the mind, body and spirit.”

Meliá Albania

Meliá Albania, a new jewel in the mediterranean for Meliá Hotels International

Meliá Albania

Meliá Albania, a new jewel in the mediterranean for Meliá Hotels International

November 24, 2022 –

Meliá Albania, the last undiscovered jewel in Europe. The hotel company trusts in the tourist potential of the area and is fully committed to leading the development of the international hotel sector, as it already did in other pioneering destinations in the Mediterranean.

Meliá Albania

In the words of Gabriel Escarrer, Executive Vice President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, “after seeing first-hand the enormous potential of this country, as well as the commitment of its public and private sectors to open the doors to international tourism, I am convinced that that we are going to start a new success story in the Mediterranean and I am very grateful for the trust that our partners in the country have placed in our company to make this dream possible”. The Spanish company wants to ensure its presence in the most important destinations in Albania and opens the door to further expansion, which would make the country one of Meliá‘s strongholds in the Balkans and consolidate its leadership in the Mediterranean.

Among its projects, the future Gran Meliá Albania stands out , a 5-star luxury hotel with 125 rooms that will open in 2025 as part of an iconic architecture project in the very heart of the city. Gran Meliá Tirana will be the flagship to consolidate the company’s recognition in Albania, which with the arrival of the brand’s first hotel will bring the best luxury experience to the country. In Dürres, the second largest city in Albania and whose beach is the most visited in the country, Meliá will open two hotels in 2023, the Meliá Dürres and the Sol Tropikal Dürres .

The first will be an extraordinary five-star holiday resort on the Gjiri I Lalzit beach, with 455 rooms and 10 villas, as well as an extensive offer of complementary services. Together with the Meliá Dürres property, Concord Investment Group, Meliá Hotels International hopes to mark a before and after in the hotel offer in the area with this hotel, offering the quality and attributes of Meliá Hotels & Resorts, one of its best-known brands. The second, 8 kilometers from the city center, will be the result of the remodeling of the current Tropikal Resort, to which two new buildings will be added, forming a modern vacation complex on the beach with a total of 383 rooms, of which 180 will be available in 2023 and the rest will be progressively included. This property, owned by FT Management & Events, also hopes to become, thanks to the Sol by Meliá brand, one of the best holiday options in Dürres.

On the Albanian Riviera, Meliá announced in 2021 the Hotel Altea Meliá Collection , in Palasa Beach, a luxury hotel with 142 rooms and suites, among which its spectacular villas stand out. Meliá adds 1,600 rooms in its expansion project in Albania Along with these projects, Meliá has just announced the signing of another three franchise hotels, making a total of 7 hotels and nearly 1,600 rooms. The new firms include a hotel of the Sol by Meliá vacation brand in Golem, a coastal city very close to the capital, Tirana, and which is currently one of the main vacation destinations in the country. The Sol Fafa Golem hotel will be an extensive avant-garde resort on the beach with 460 rooms. Oriented towards families, it will have a wide variety of services, including multiple restaurants and bars, swimming pools and children’s areas.

The second of the new projects signed is the future Eliza Hotel Affiliated by Meliá , a modern establishment with 46 rooms in Tirana, which is under construction and could open its doors at the end of this year, thus becoming the first opening of the company in Albania. The latest hotel signed is the Hotel Tomorri Affiliated by Meliá , with 120 rooms. Located in Berat, in south central Albania, this city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The hotel is part of a complex, also consisting of a new casino, and is expected to open in 2024. In 2021, the country received 5.6 million international tourists.

The 400 kilometers of coastline in Albania bathed by the Adriatic and Ionian Seas contrast with the mountainous geography of a large part of the country, forming a landscape of wild nature that makes the country a very multifaceted destination, and complemented by a cultural legacy of immense value, where first the Greeks and Romans, and later the Byzantines, Ottomans and other Balkan peoples left their traces here, shaping a mosaic of cultures that can be enjoyed in the form of numerous archaeological sites and several World Heritage Sites Meliá Albania

Muzsa Budapest Budapest – stunning art-deco bar launches new coloured theme menu

Muzsa Budapest

Muzsa Budapest – stunning art-deco bar launches new coloured theme menu

November 21, 2022 – Muzsa Budapest the stunning Art Nouveau cocktail bar of Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest, has unveiled its new colour themed menu. Aptly named “COLOROID,” every cocktail was carefully crafted by Head Bartender Ádám Rédli, who envisioned a menu where colours and flavours combined would take mixology to a whole new dimension. Elegant and refined, yet modern and playful, Muzsa Budapest has become the gold standard for craft cocktail experience in the city.

“After a very successful first menu, we knew we had a big challenge ahead of us. I wanted to take the craft cocktail experience to a new level, but still retaining the playfulness that our original cocktails are known for,” says Ádám Rédli, Head Bartender. “I’ve always been interested in the origins of colour, and I knew it was a theme that we would one day explore on our menu.”

The name of the menu is paying homage to the work of Hungarian professor Antal Nemcsics, who over the course of two decades developed the Coloroid Colour System, a colour-order system used by architects and visual constructors.

Consisting of 15 colours masterfully interpreted both visually and through flavours, the cocktails are divided into three eras and are paired with unique menu descriptions designed to stir the imagination. The eras are Chromatic Dawn, Golden Age and Luminous Horizons, each with five cocktails that narrate their own origins. Every cocktail is made with a different spirit and combined with the finest locally-sourced ingredients to provide unique flavour profiles ranging from umami to bittersweet to low ABV.

Muzsa Budapest

In the Chromatic Dawn, Muzsa Buapest’s cocktails pay tribute to the very first pigments and ancient dyes. The signature drink, Dragons Blood, is a modern take on the traditional whisky cocktail, Old Fashioned. Its bitter and nutty taste is provided by MÚZSA’s macadamia malt and maple, cherry herring and melon verjus.

In the Golden Age, the new-wave spirit-based cocktails are like a meeting with the divine. Its signature drink, the Martini-style Sunglow, is a sublime concoction made with pisco, saffron and edible gold, making it the most glamorous of all and with a characterful flavour.

The Luminous Horizons showcases the visible light spectrum; under the ethos of sustainability, using cutting edge mixology and technology are created the most adventurous cocktails on the menu. The signature drink, Cobalt, with its striking shade of blue promises to be the picture-perfect drink served in the iconic poppy head shaped glass. It’s a low ABV drink made with Szechuan button, jasmine and lemongrass and poppy, with fruity flavour notes.

Executive Chef Árpád Győrffy brings an exciting new selection of sophisticated bar food offerings such as Tofu and Avocado, Spicy Prawn Miso Soup, Wagyu Tataki and Mangalica Tonkatsu. Everything is presented on bespoke hand-painted Herend Porcelain sets. The menu, featuring small plates and tapas style bites, is designed for sharing.

With its inspired atmosphere to enjoy colourful cocktail creations, an exciting blend of Asian and Hungarian cuisines, and a diverse mix of local authentic live entertainment, MÚZSA portrays the best of Hungary’s rich cultural and culinary heritage.

“Foz do Iguaçu is a versatile destination that combines business and tourism. Thus, we strongly believe that DoubleTree by Hilton Foz do Iguacu Brazil will be a distinctive accommodation option in one of the world’s main triple borders, focused on offering convenience and signature hospitality to travelers,” said Ricardo Bluvol, vice president of development, Atlantica Hospitality International.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando Offers Elevated Meeting and Incentive Travel Experiences

November 17, 2022 –

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort provides opportunities for meetings and incentive group guests to connect like never before.
Situated on 26 sprawling acres, the Resort includes over 66,500 square-feet of stunning indoor and outdoor event space. With event lawns, an exclusive golf club, a water park with a lazy river, sport courts and more, bringing team building beyond the boardroom to recharge and delight attendees is as easy as it is fun and memorable.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando

Conference attendees will enjoy unique team building activities such as obstacle courses throughout the Resort’s Explorer Island water park and relay races at the Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course. Group guests traveling with family can take advantage of the resort’s incredible children’s programming at the complimentary kids camp, unwind at the chic adult-only pool, and savor Michelin-starred dining by night at Capa Steakhouse. Plus, banquet events are taken to a new level with incredible cuisine crafted by the resort’s recently appointed banquet chef, Addnan Ibrahim.

“There are endless ways for meeting planners to take advantage of our fantastic property and create an unparalleled program that will attract and excite attendees,” says Nick Anderson, Director of Sales.

Group Activities

Inner tube races along a winding lazy river with opponents competing to reach their prize hanging from a cascading waterfall may not sound like a standard business meeting, and that is exactly the goal. Exciting team building activities such as this are encouraged at Four Seasons Resort Orlando.

“With the new normal of a remote and hybrid work force, meeting planners are eager to bring their teams together while on-site and drive connectivity outside of the typical reception and meeting,” says Jennifer Johnson, Director of Conference Services. “We offer many options to integrate movement and open-air experiences into the workday that our clients have been loving. Meeting planners can leverage our team’s expertise to curate an agenda with unique programming that attendees have never experienced before.”

Attendees will enjoy recharging and restoring with playful and innovative team building exercises, strengthening relationships amongst colleagues and ultimately contributing to their company’s overall success and productivity. More active fun can be had with glow-in-the-dark turf volleyball, relay races and golf tournaments at the picturesque Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club Orlando, tennis round robins and more.

“It’s so beneficial to infuse energy into a corporate retreat, and we can get really creative with the resort as our playground,” says Sarah Peltier, Director of Recreation, who expertly coordinates unique activities with meeting planners to provide a remarkable group experience.

Additionally, groups have the capability to select from an array of more relaxed options such as cooking competitions led by the resort’s award-winning chefs, wellness-oriented experiences at The Spa, and pop-up shops from the resort’s luxury boutique, Wardrobe. There are endless ways to connect with colleagues, and the team at Four Seasons will work with meeting planners to tailor every detail.

Elevated Banquet Offerings

Conferences are further enhanced by the resort’s extraordinary banquets operation, helmed by Director of Banquets Maximiliano Hernandez, who has an impressive 20 years of experience in food and beverage. Orchestrating seamless banquets within the expanse of the resort’s meeting and event space including two light-filled ballrooms, numerous breakout rooms, and pristine lakeside lawns is no simple feat, yet Hernandez makes it seem effortless. “It comes down to planning, and preparation. We want our group guests to experience the level of upscale culinary offerings and signature service that Four Seasons is known for,” says Hernandez.

A crucial component to this experience is the incredible cuisine crafted by Banquet Chef Addnan Ibrahim, who carefully prepares each dish to ensure that it tastes delicious and looks impeccable. Ibrahim says, “Each plate is like a canvas, and I get to bring it to life with different flavors and unexpected presentations.” Ibrahim often incorporates vibrant colors from fruits and vegetables, adorned with edible botanicals and florals. He has also introduced visually stunning vegan dishes such as beet risotto and vegetable Bolognese, which have amazing flavour. “I’ve seen an opportunity in both banquets and veganism to elevate the dining experience and provide guests with a meal that will wow them,” says Ibrahim, and he manages to do just that by bringing his culinary artistry and creativity to the banquet kitchen.

Recreational Pursuits

Incentive group guests or conference attendees who have extra time at leisure will enjoy discovering the resort’s five-acre Explorer Island waterpark, featuring a lazy river, two water slides, family pool, interactive splash zone, a multi-purpose turf court, a basketball court, state-of-the-art gaming room, complimentary kids club and more. Plus, the resort offers ample active recreation at the exclusive 18-hole golf course at Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club Orlando, three Har-Tru tennis courts, and a 24-hour fitness center with daily complimentary fitness classes. Personal training, golf lessons and tennis lessons can also be arranged for individuals or groups.

In addition to all the fun and excitement offered at Four Seasons Resort Orlando, guests can enjoy blissful relaxation at the infinity-edge Oasis pool, the only adult pool within Walt Disney World. The resort’s 18 treatment-room Spa offers a sanctuary of serenity with spacious indoor and outdoor tranquility lounges, including separate men’s and women’s areas complete with an al fresco whirlpool, steam room and experience shower.

The Spa can also assist with incorporating wellness into the meeting day with group “sound baths” utilizing vibrational sound immersion, group yoga or fitness classes, meditation sessions during a meeting break and more. Additionally, The Spa’s relaxation lounges, such as the sun-drenched Solarium with zero-gravity wave lounge chairs, can be privately reserved to provide an exclusive environment for groups to relax and enjoy pre or post spa treatment.

Disney Connectivity

Situated within the gates of Walt Disney World Resort, Four Seasons offers groups convenient access to the Most Magical Place on Earth with benefits such as complimentary luxury motorcoaches to the parks, the Early Parks Entry benefit with valid theme park admission and a park reservation, and more. Meeting planners may opt to work with Disney Celebrations and Events, available to assist with group ticket needs as well as organizing special appearances within the resort’s meeting space from beloved Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Disney Princesses and Villains, Star Wars favorites and more.

With world-class amenities and signature Four Seasons guest service, the AAA Five Diamond Award rated resort, named Best Hotel in Orlando by US News & World Report for eight years straight, is sure to leave a memorable impression upon group attendees and meeting planners alike.

Dinso Resort Phuket opens its doors by mid 2023

Dinso Resort Phuket

Dinso Resort Phuket

November 15, 2022 – Dinso Resort Phuket with a focus on sustainability – IHG, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, is proud to announce that its Luxury & Lifestyle collection brand, Vignette Collection, will come to the famed beach destination of Patong in partnership with Dinso Resort Co., Ltd in mid-2023.

Dinso Resort Phuket 2023

The sustainability focused Dinso Resort Phuket, Vignette Collection will be IHG’s fourth opened or pipeline Vignette Collection property in Thailand, following the launch of its 17th and newest brand last year. Built mainly through the use of wooden materials, the luxury escape is seamlessly integrated into its hillside surroundings and welcomes guests seeking a tranquil, nature-based getaway.

Saowarin Chanprakaisi, Director, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG, said: “It’s fantastic to work with first-time partner Dinso Resort Co., Ltd to open our fourth Vignette Collection hotel in Thailand. We see a demand for authentic and experiential experiences, and with the spotlight on environmental and social issues, meaningful and responsible stays. This new collaboration shows confidence in the purpose-driven Vignette Collection brand in the market, which has grown quickly since the successful opening of Sindhorn Midtown, our first Vignette Collection property, in Bangkok earlier this year.

“Situated in the popular destination of Patong, Dinso Resort Phuket, Vignette Collection will add to IHG’s growing presence in Phuket, where we have hotels across four of our world-renowned brands – InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Before the pandemic, Phuket attracted over 10 million visitors per year and, after Bangkok, was the most visited destination in Thailand. We look forward to welcoming guests to this beautiful hillside resort.”

Wanchai Akkaravivat, Managing Director, Dinso Resort Co., Ltd, said: “We have always had a strong vision for Dinso Resort – to be a design-led and lifestyle-focused nature resort that’s built carefully, thoughtfully and sustainably. We took our time to develop its barefoot luxury experience coupled with its own distinct character and identity, and when we saw Vignette Collection come to life in Thailand, we knew it was the perfect brand for our property.

“We have found the ideal partner in IHG, have seen their success in launching new brands in new markets, including the InterContinental brand into Phuket, and fully believe in its ability to deliver results while making a positive impact on the Phuket community. As a Vignette Collection hotel, Dinso Resort will offer a one-of-a-kind stay with memorable rituals for every guest and a commitment to support the Phuket community.”

A 60-minute drive from Phuket International Airport and just eight minutes from the bustling tourism hub of Patong, Dinso Resort Phuket enjoys a hillside location that offers guests an exclusive and immersive nature getaway.

Certain to attract families, couples and friends alike, the hotel offers a choice of 148 rooms and suites and 26 tree-top pool villas with stunning views of the Patong coast. Facilities will also include two restaurants and bars, a meeting room of 150 square metres, a swimming pool, fitness centre and spa. The property enjoys easy access to the picturesque, white sand Patong Beach, and a wide array of restaurants, bars, night markets and shopping centres.

IHG has 30 hotels across nine brands in Thailand and a pipeline of 36* properties which are set to open as it grows its Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio in the country by 50% by 2026, while doubling its estate across all brands.

Dinso Resort Phuket, Vignette Collection will support the brand’s continued global expansion since its launch in 2021. With three hotels already open and six in its global pipeline across markets including Austria, Portugal and Thailand, Vignette Collection is a collection of luxury hotels in vibrant destinations around the world – each unique in its own right, with a distinct outlook and story to tell.

Dinso Resort Phuket will be open for bookings via IHG website here and will be part of the Vignette Collection in mid-2023.

Six Senses Grand Bahama resort

Six Senses Grand Bahama resort and residences to open in 2026

Six Senses Grand Bahama resort

Six Senses Grand Bahama resort and residences to open in 2026

November 15, 2022 –

Six Senses is coming to Grand Bahama as part of a project that will boost local tourism, development, and investment. With social and environmental responsibility at its heart, the new resort and residences will create employment opportunities for Grand Bahamians, encourage sustainability and regenerative activity on the island, and engage the surrounding community while protecting the land for future generations of locals and visitors to Grand Bahama.

Six Senses Grand Bahama resort

Resort village

Designed by architects 3XN, the resort village will comprise 45 waterfront and canal villas enjoying 2,400 feet (732 meters) of beach frontage and water on three sides. In addition to the guest accommodations, plans are afoot for a signature restaurant, beach venue, boathouse, and pool bar. Future development of the 36-acre site will see direct access to a new marina.

Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, said: “We’re eager to reflect the authenticity of Bahamian lifestyle, culture, and landscape through organic pathways and architectural design to create a community blended with our signature ethos of wellness, sustainability, crafted guest experiences, and emotional hospitality.”

Units are planned to be modular and prefabricated to minimize on-site impacts and adhere to the high sustainability targets.

Kim Herforth Nielson, Founder of 3XN, said: “This is a great opportunity to investigate new construction methods and define a specific and new approach to sustainability in The Bahamas – both for the buildings and to respect the exceptional local nature.”

The resort village will host an Experience Center along with artist studios, relaxed meeting spaces, a fitness center, and Six Senses Spa. In addition to the Earth Lab, there will also be a Marine Research and Dive Center focused on coastal resiliency, native plantings, and land restoration. Additional land and sea areas will be designated as preserves, further enhancing the local biosphere.

Transformative model for The Bahamas and Caribbean projects

Today’s challenges are answered through actions, not words. At Six Senses Grand Bahama, a team of experts in coastal resilience, marine ecology, and sustainable design will collaborate with Bahamian consultants to ensure their wealth of knowledge is incorporated and applied to all aspects of the development.

The development and investment team, led by Weller Development Partners and Pegasus Capital Advisors, has a proven track record of environmental sustainability and a reputation for delivering transformative projects. One priority is to recruit from the communities directly surrounding the project and the aim is to partner with Blue Action Lab to collaborate with the local community on job training and skills enhancement. With a formal launch expected to kick off within weeks, the project will create hundreds of jobs for Bahamians, both in the construction phases and when the resort opens its doors.

Marc Weller, Founding Partner and President of Weller Development Partners, said: “We are dedicated to ensuring that our developments have a positive social impact on surrounding communities. Our team uses sustainable practices that reduce our carbon footprint, establish resilient and healthy communities, and preserve our natural environment. We want to build trust and work with the people of Grand Bahama to achieve their priorities and realize the potential of this amazing island.”

The development will receive an investment from the Global Fund for Coral Reefs to provide capital and technical assistance leading to increased resilience of reefs and the communities that depend on them. Creating a resort with a hurricane-insulating coastline, while minimizing environmental impacts through self-sufficient energy and waste ambitions, will also act as an exemplar for future sustainable tourism models on Grand Bahama and across the Caribbean.

Dale Galvin, Partner at the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, added: “There is a wealth of knowledge and data that exists within local Bahamian organizations and communities, and we look forward to partnering with these institutions to create a symbiotic relationship between the development and the sustainable protection of the marine environment.”

Branded residences

Under an hour by plane or 2.5 hours by boat from Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Grand Bahama is the gateway to The Bahamas and a short commute to and from South Florida and major international hubs. Designed by world-renowned architect Olson Kundig, there will be approximately 20 branded residences for owners seeking a home-away-from-home near the cosmopolitan and family-friendly city of Freeport. One of the last of the islands to develop in the mid-20th century, Grand Bahama is a laid-back, accessible community that balances modern infrastructure, restaurants, and hotels with golden beaches and aquamarine waters. Outside the city, the island is an explorer’s delight with expansive mangrove forests, sea caves, and sandy cays.

Tom Kundig, Principal, Owner and Founder of Olson Kundig, stated: “Six Senses’ immersive approach to hospitality, travel, and wellness offers guests an opportunity to experience something extraordinary at all levels. I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with them on the design of their new resort on Grand Bahama and support our shared agenda for wellness, sustainable design, community, connectivity with nature, and transformative experiences.”

Craig Cogut, Founder and CEO of Pegasus Capital Advisors, said: “Our aim is always to create nature-based solutions and sustainable infrastructure while generating social and environmental outcomes that are intentional, material, and scalable.”

Pegasus Capital Advisors specializes in investments in sustainable ocean production, eco-tourism, and infrastructure.

Six Senses Grand Bahama is slated to open in 2026.

A press release said that the agreement would allow Baglioni Hotels and Resorts to further develop in the US market, which represents 70 per cent of Palace Resorts’ business, while also being able to reach over 75,000 Palace Elite Vacation Club Members.

Baglioni also said that the deal would enable it to explore “new profitable openings in Italy and Europe through direct acquisition from the Real Estate division of Palace Resorts”.

Commenting on the news Gibran Chapur, executive vice president of Palace Resorts, said:

“It is such an honour for us, the Chapur Family, to take our Company to a global reach through Baglioni Hotels and Resorts.

“We invested in this great Italian Collection for many reasons, starting with the kindness and great execution ability of its staff in and out of the hotels, and it will be a pleasure to keep collaborating with our new partner and CEO, Guido Polito, who has taken the Group to worldwide recognition with the Italian spirit in every detail of guests’ experience.

“We will grow our investments in Europe, Asia and the Middle East with the very much capable team of professionals that work at Baglioni by taking the Le Blanc and Moon Palace Brands to this side of the world.”

Last year British businessmen David and Simon Reuben entered into a strategic partnership with Baglioni Hotels and Resorts, to “facilitate the rollout of Baglioni-branded hotels around the world”.

The agreement was part of a wider deal which saw the Reuben Brothers acquire the five-star Baglioni Hotel Luna in Venice, which is housed within a 12th-century building close to Piazza San Marco.

Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca

Larnaca is Cyprus’s third-largest city on the southeastern coast of the island. A bustling beach destination during the summer when its palm-lined Finikoudes promenade, restaurants, cafés, and bars fill up with locals and tourists alike, Larnaca also has a busy modern downtown district, which juxtapose with traditional whitewashed houses in its historic quarter. The Byzantine church of Agios Lazaros and Larnaca Castle are some of the many sights that are worth a visit. Ideally situated just a short drive from downtown Larnaca, Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca can be easily reached from the island’s main airport by both public and private transport.

Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca boasts 202 comfortable rooms and suites, all with private balconies or terraces, many with views of the Mediterranean from the main building, while the resort’s annex building features rooms with swim-up pool access, as well as spacious suites ideal for families. All rooms come equipped with 49″ smart TVs and free, fast Wi-Fi.

The resort offers private beach access with sun loungers reserved exclusively for hotel guests. The large main pool is the heart of the resort, adjacent to a separate children’s pool and outdoor playground. The full-service spa offers a variety of massages and treatments to revitalize, refresh, and pamper guests, as well as a beauty salon, a heated indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, and a fitness center with state-of-the-art cardio and weight-training equipment.

Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options, including the international Crown Restaurant which serves breakfast and both à la carte or buffet options for lunch and dinner in a modern setting with touches of wood and marble. Filini Bar & Restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine with its diverse à la carte dinner menu, drinks, and cocktails to match the contemporary ambiance. On the ground floor of the resort, the modern and classy Lounge Bar offers international and local beverages, cocktails, and an exceptional cava selection, as well as a light à la carte menu with light dishes and sweet treats throughout the day. The Waves Beach Bar & Restaurant is the hotel’s seasonal beach bar open from April through October and serves international cuisine in a casual, relaxed beachside atmosphere. For guests wishing to dine in the privacy of their own room or suite, room service is available 24 hours a day.

With two meeting rooms and a spacious ballroom, Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca is an ideal setting for conferences, social seaside events, and private functions for gala dinners up to 230 people, cocktail receptions up to 1,400 people, wedding ceremonies in the Princess Ballroom, or outdoor events in the beautiful gardens of the resort right by the beach.

Yilmaz Yildirimlar, Area Senior Vice President at Radisson Hotel Group, comments: “We are delighted to open Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca, our first resort in Cyprus and second hotel in the country. With our two successful openings earlier this year on the Greek islands of Skiathos and Mykonos, we are giving guests of Radisson Hotel Group an ever-greater choice of vacation destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

“Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca’s goal is to provide guests with a memorable resort experience, in a unique, relaxing setting.
