TAP Air Portugal Exciting New Route to Curitiba 2025
TAP Air Portugal is clearly on a mission to make your Brazilian bucket list longer than your grocery list. Starting 2 July 2026, the airline will launch flights from Lisbon (LIS) to Curitiba (CWB) — the charming capital of Paraná and, let’s be honest, one of those cities you’ve definitely heard of but can’t quite place on a map.
Flights will operate three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — using an Airbus A330-200 with 269 seats, which means you’ve got just enough room to stretch out if you beat everyone else to the exit row. The route will run as part of a triangular connection: Lisbon–Curitiba–Rio de Janeiro–Lisbon, which sounds fancy until you realize it’s basically TAP’s way of saying, “We’ll drop you off in Curitiba and pick up a few friends in Rio on the way back.”
Ticket sales open on 11 November 2025, so if you’re already planning your 2026 summer escape (and have that one friend who insists on booking flights a year in advance), mark your calendars.
The Love Affair Continues: Portugal ❤️ Brazil
With this new route, TAP Air Portugal now connects Portugal to 14 cities in Brazil — more than any other European airline. That’s right, TAP is officially the overachiever of the transatlantic travel world.
According to Carlos Antunes, TAP’s Director for the Americas, “Brazil is a strategic market of enormous relevance for TAP.” Translation: Brazilians love Europe, Europeans love Brazil, and TAP loves filling planes between the two.
Meanwhile, Ratinho Junior, Governor of Paraná, was thrilled to announce that this connection will “boost tourism, facilitate the arrival of European visitors, and expand business opportunities.” In other words, more tourists to sip caipirinhas in Curitiba and more businesspeople pretending they’re not just there for the beach weekend in Rio.

Why Curitiba?
Good question. Curitiba might not have the beachy fame of Rio or the samba spirit of Salvador, but it’s known as one of Brazil’s most sustainable and well-planned cities — basically the Marie Kondo of urban design. It’s clean, green, and efficient, which is a rare trio in city planning.
For travellers, it’s a gateway to southern Brazil’s rolling hills, European-inspired architecture, and enough churrascarias to make your diet wave a white flag. Business travellers will also find plenty to love — Curitiba is a hub for innovation, tech, and trade. So whether you’re chasing meetings or meat skewers, TAP’s got you covered.

What This Means for You
For Europeans, this means easier access to one of Brazil’s hidden gems — no need for awkward layovers or 20-hour airport marathons. For Brazilians, it means one more reason to hop over to Europe, eat too many pastéis de nata, and pretend they’re not planning their next trip back before they’ve even landed.
And for TAP Air Portugal, it means bragging rights. With Curitiba in the mix, TAP officially operates the most extensive European network to Brazil, making it the ultimate “air bridge” between Europe and South America.
So if you’ve ever dreamed of sipping espresso in Lisbon one morning and enjoying a barbecue in Curitiba the next, TAP’s making that dream a whole lot easier — and with a touch of Portuguese flair.
Pack your bags, polish your Portuguese, and get ready — TAP’s got a new route, and it’s one worth celebrating.
