Transavia Is Betting Big on Italian Islands Summer 2026 — And It Makes Perfect Sense

Transavia Is Betting Big on Italian Islands This Summer — And It Makes Perfect Sense

There’s a very specific kind of feeling people chase every summer.

It usually involves warm air that doesn’t require a jacket, food that somehow tastes better simply because you’re not at home, and at least one quiet moment where you briefly consider not going back at all.

That feeling? Transavia seems to understand it very well.

Because for Summer 2026, the airline isn’t just adding a few extra flights and calling it expansion. It’s going all-in on the destinations people actually want — Italy’s islands. And not in a subtle way either.

This Isn’t a Small Increase — It’s a Statement

Let’s start with the headline number, because it tells you everything you need to know.

A 65% increase in flights to Italian islands compared to last summer.

That’s not cautious growth. That’s confidence.

It starts with a new route from Eindhoven to Olbia — which, if you’ve ever been to Sardinia, immediately makes sense. Clear water, quiet coves, that slightly unreal shade of blue that doesn’t quite look real until you’re standing in it.

But the expansion doesn’t stop there.

New routes include:

  • Amsterdam to Palermo
  • Amsterdam to Alghero
  • Rotterdam to Catania

And just like that, the map opens up.

Not dramatically. Not overwhelmingly. Just… more options in exactly the right places.

Sardinia and Sicily Aren’t “Trending” — They’re Established for a Reason

There’s always a conversation every year about “the destination of the summer.”

This isn’t that.

Sardinia and Sicily don’t need hype cycles. They’ve been delivering the same thing consistently for years — and that’s exactly why airlines keep doubling down on them.

Sardinia gives you space. Beaches that feel slightly removed from everything. Water that looks filtered in real life.

Sicily is different. Louder, busier, more layered. Cities like Palermo feel alive in a way that’s hard to manufacture, while Catania sits under the constant presence of Mount Etna — which adds just enough drama to make everything feel a bit more memorable.

And that’s the key point here.

These aren’t destinations you visit once and tick off a list. They’re the kind of places people go back to. Which, from an airline’s perspective, is exactly what you want.

The Quiet Shift: More Freedom, Less Packaging

There’s another change happening here that matters just as much, even if it’s less obvious.

Transavia is taking several routes that were previously charter-only and turning them into scheduled services.

That might not sound like a big deal, but it changes how people travel.

Destinations like:

Hurghada
Marsa Alam
Antalya
Karpathos
Skiathos
Lesbos

…are no longer locked behind package holidays.

You don’t have to commit to a full bundle. You don’t have to follow a fixed itinerary. You can just go.

And increasingly, that’s what people want — flexibility over structure.

The Bigger Picture: This Is About Demand, Not Experimentation

Across Summer 2026, Transavia will operate 128 routes to 84 destinations.

That’s a wide network, but it’s not random.

It’s focused. Leisure-heavy. Built around the idea that people are prioritising travel that feels easy to access and worth the effort once they get there.

Italian islands fit that perfectly.

Short-to-medium haul. High reward. Minimal friction.

And importantly — they work for different types of travellers at the same time. Couples, groups, solo travellers, last-minute planners, people who booked six months ago.

That kind of broad appeal is rare. And valuable.

The Bottom Line

This isn’t just an airline adding capacity.

It’s an airline paying attention.

More flights to Sardinia and Sicily. More flexibility across Mediterranean destinations. More opportunities to travel without overcomplicating the process.

It all adds up to something quite simple — summer, made easier.

And if you’ve been waiting for a moment to book something, anything, that gets you out of routine and into somewhere that feels a bit better…

This is probably it.

Air Cairo launch Exciting Oslo-Egypt routes for winter 2026

Air Cairo launch Exciting Oslo-Egypt routes for winter 2026

If you’re a resident of Norway and fantasize about trading your snow boots for sandals, you may want to watch the departures board at Oslo Airport Gardermoen this winter.

Why? Because Air Cairo has decided that Scandinavians need a fast-tracked way to get sunshine — and some ancient history while they’re at it.

For the winter 2026 season, Egyptian airline is preparing to launch two new direct routes from Oslo to Egypt. One goes directly to the busy capital, Cairo, and the other flies straight to the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada.

In other news: Norway will soon have a much easier option for swapping icy sidewalks for palm trees.

Two New Routes to the Sun

Let’s start with the capital.

Air Cairo will run two flights per week, on Mondays and Thursdays from Oslo to Cairo. That’s perfect for visitors looking for either a long weekend of exploration in Egypt’s hectic, wondrous capital — or a midweek getaway from the Nordic winter.

Then there’s the beach option.

It will also introduce a weekly service from Oslo to Hurghada, on Sundays. Which is ideal if, like me, you are hoping to start your week somewhere that involves sunshine, turquoise water and no snow shovelling whatsoever.

The two routes will be flown using proven Airbus A320 family aircraft (ceo and neo). Those jets have capacity for about 180 passengers, so many travelers are bound next south in search of the sun.

Flights are timed to depart and arrive around midday, a fact airline passengers the world over recognize as an invitation to reject the dreaded crack-of-dawn alarm clock.

More Than Just Two Cities

Needless to say, Cairo and Hurghada are already plenty enticing in their own right.

Cairo, after all, is among the most historically rich cities on earth. From there, travelers can visit the legendary Pyramids of Giza, explore centuries-old markets and experience that kind of buzzing, chaotic energy that makes you feel like you’re living a chapter in a history documentary.

Hurghada, on the other hand, has an entire different energy.

This Red Sea resort city is one of Egypt’s major vacation destinations, with year-round sunshine, luxury beach hotels and some of the best diving in the region. A coral reef, clear waters and lazy beach days are indeed the main draw here.

These new flights, though, aren’t just two destinations. They’re also about connections.

Travelers departing from Oslo will be able to connect through Egypt onward to other domestic cities and points in Africa, the Middle East and parts of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Yet Cairo and Hurghada are serving as gateways to a far larger network.

Air Cairo Is Growing Up, Literally

The new services form part of a wider drive for Air Cairo to move further into Europe — and Scandinavia is clearly the next target.

For decades, northern Europe has been a potent source of travellers heading south for the winter — especially to places where the sun actually appears to be put on morning duty. Egypt has been a top favourite for years — particularly among those looking for a combination of beach resorts, culture and history.

So it makes a lot of sense to connect Norway directly to Egypt.

Oslo Airport staff have also previously stated that Cairo had been on their wish list for a long while. It seems the airport had been pining for a direct connection to the Egyptian capital, which has finally come true.

What It Means for Travellers

From a Norwegian traveller’s point of view, the benefits are pretty obvious.

Instead of complicated itineraries flying to somewhere in Europe and connecting there, passengers will soon be able to take one smooth journey from Oslo to Egypt.

That means fewer layovers, fewer airport sprints and more time enjoying the destination.

It also allows for more tourism, business travel and cultural exchange between both regions — exactly what airports like to see.

A Very Tempting Winter Escape

Let’s face it: winter in Scandinavia is gorgeous, but it also happens to be… long.

Which is why the airlines pay attention when they begin to offer direct flights to sunshine, beaches and ancient wonders.

With Cairo serving up world-renowned history and Hurghada offering all the classic touches of Red Sea relaxation, Air Cairo’s new routes could quickly become a hit among Norwegian travellers escaping the cold.

And if you spot someone at Oslo Airport this winter trading a heavy winter coat for sunglasses and flip-flops… well, now you know precisely where they’re going.

eurowings

Eurowings Big Summer 2026 Plans

Eurowings Big Summer 2026 Plans: More Flights, More Sun, and Mallorca… Obviously

Eurowings has taken one look at summer 2026 and decided to go big. Very big. The airline is rolling out an expanded schedule packed with new direct routes, extra frequencies on fan-favourite destinations, and enough leisure options to make your out-of-office reply feel justified.

In total, Eurowings will serve more than 150 destinations across 40 countries, further cementing its title as Germany’s largest leisure airline. Translation? Wherever Germans are planning to escape to next summer, Eurowings would like to take them there — preferably nonstop.

Brand-New Routes: Because Direct Is Always Better

Let’s start with the shiny new stuff.

For the first time ever, Eurowings will fly direct from Düsseldorf to Madrid and Tallinn. One gives you tapas, late dinners, and a healthy disrespect for bedtime. The other delivers medieval charm, Baltic breezes, and the quiet satisfaction of visiting somewhere your friends haven’t been yet. Different vibes, same convenience: no layovers, no sprinting through transfer airports.

Berlin also gets something special with the launch of the “Capital Express”, a new concept connecting Germany’s capital directly to — fittingly — other capitals and key cities. Think Lisbon, London Heathrow, and Sarajevo, all linked nonstop from Berlin. It’s efficient, it’s practical, and it feels very grown-up… until you remember you’re booking it for a weekend city break.

Mediterranean Dreams and City Breaks on Repeat

Of course, summer wouldn’t be summer without the Mediterranean making a grand appearance. Eurowings is increasing frequencies to destinations that already know how to behave in peak season: Málaga, Naples, Nice, Faro, Cagliari, and Olbia, among others.

In other words, if your idea of summer includes beaches, seafood, historic streets, or loudly declaring “we should move here” after two days, Eurowings has you covered — and with more flight options than before.

And yes, this expansion spans all major German bases, including Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart, and Hanover. More flights, more seats, more chances to find one that actually fits your dates without selling a kidney.

Mallorca: Still the Undisputed Champion

Now let’s talk about Mallorca, because Eurowings certainly is.

The airline will operate up to 400 flights per week to Mallorca, from 25 different airports. That’s not a typo. Four. Hundred. Flights. Per. Week.

At this point, Eurowings isn’t just flying to Mallorca — it’s running a shuttle service for anyone who owns sunglasses and optimism. The island remains a cornerstone of the airline’s network, and Eurowings continues to hold its position as market leader there. If you’re going to Palma next summer, odds are very good you’ll be doing it in an Eurowings seat.

Not Just Germany: Europe Joins the Party

The expansion doesn’t stop at Germany’s borders either.

From Prague, Eurowings is adding new routes to Brindisi, Hurghada, and Ibiza, covering everything from Italian coastlines to Red Sea sunshine to dance floors that don’t believe in bedtime. Meanwhile, Salzburg gets a new direct link to Genoa, making it easier to swap Alpine views for Italian harbour life.

There are also more flights to Palma de Mallorca from regional airports, because apparently even Mallorca needed more Mallorca.

So, What’s the Big Picture?

At its core, Eurowings’ summer 2026 schedule is about choice, flexibility, and making travel easier — whether you’re planning a beach holiday, a city escape, or a carefully justified “work trip” that somehow includes Faro.

With new routes, more frequencies, and a network that stretches wide across Europe and beyond, Eurowings is clearly betting on a busy summer — and making sure passengers have plenty of options to get exactly where they want to go, without unnecessary detours.

Sun, cities, and a very full flight map. Summer 2026 is shaping up nicely.

Easyjet

easyJet Unwraps Exciting New Winter Routes from Bordeaux winter 2025

easyJet Unwraps Exciting New Winter Routes from Bordeaux winter 2025

Forget socks and chocolates—this holiday season, easyJet is handing out the gift of travel. The orange-loving airline is expanding its Bordeaux-Mérignac menu with 43 destinations this winter, including five shiny new routes launching in 2025. And because one present isn’t enough, they’re also tossing in frequency boosts on popular flights and making a few UK routes year-round. Santa could never.

Five New Routes to Brighten Your Winter

If you were already bored with the 38 destinations easyJet was offering, good news: five fresh cities are joining the Bordeaux lineup. Consider it a buffet of options, from Central Europe to the Red Sea.

  • Budapest – For when you want thermal baths hotter than your radiator at home.
  • Prague – Beer so cheap it feels like a scam (but isn’t).
  • Hurghada – Swap your scarf for sunscreen and dive straight into the Red Sea.
  • Brussels – Waffles, chocolate, and beer, aka the holy trinity of winter comfort food.
  • Vienna – Already running since November 27, this one’s so good they’re extending it until January 4, 2026. Cue waltzes, strudel, and maybe a cheeky mulled wine.

That’s a serious mix of festive markets, sunshine escapes, and culinary excuses to pack stretchy trousers.

More Flights, Less FOMO

Not content with just adding new destinations, easyJet is also beefing up flights on some classics. Translation: fewer awkward moments where you find the perfect weekend getaway… and then discover the plane only leaves on alternate Thursdays.

Here’s what’s getting an upgrade:

  • Milan Malpensa – Extra Monday flight, because nothing cures a Monday like Italian aperitivo hour.
  • Rome Fiumicino – Now daily, thanks to a bonus Wednesday service. Vatican selfies, here you come.
  • Nice – Extra Saturday flight, perfect for your Côte d’Azur weekend dash.
  • Marseille – Extra Friday flight, so you can start your bouillabaisse binge early.
  • Lille – Extra Tuesday flight, because apparently Tuesday needed more croissants.

Year-Round UK Access

Here’s one for the Anglophiles (or anyone with a soft spot for tea and unpredictable weather). Three UK routes that were previously seasonal are now sticking around for good:

  • Edinburgh – Castles, whisky, and questionable weather forecasts.
  • London-Luton – Not quite central London, but close enough for Big Ben selfies.
  • Manchester – Football, music, and meat pies. What’s not to love?

So whether it’s haggis, fish and chips, or an Oasis tribute band you’re chasing, you no longer have to wait for summer.

Why Bordeaux Loves easyJet

With a 36% market share at Bordeaux-Mérignac, easyJet isn’t just an airline here—it’s practically part of the family. And this expanded winter schedule means Bordelais travelers can swap wine country views for a whole world of adventures, all without needing to change airports.

Plus, with 43 destinations on offer, you can now procrastinate booking your holiday trip for days while you debate: mulled wine in Vienna or scuba diving in Hurghada? (Pro tip: do both. Your boss will understand.)

The Bottom Line

easyJet’s Bordeaux expansion is basically an advent calendar of travel treats: new destinations, extra flights, and year-round links to the UK. Whether you’re chasing Christmas markets, Mediterranean sunshine, or just an excuse to escape the in-laws, there’s now a direct flight for that.

So pack your bags, brush up on your “merci beaucoup,” and get ready—Bordeaux’s runway just turned into your personal winter escape route.

Because honestly, socks are overrated.

Transavia

Transavia Announces Exciting Summer 2026 Schedule

Transavia Announces Exciting Summer 2026 Schedule More Sunshine, More Gelato, More Excuses to Pack That Swimsuit

While the rest of us are still arguing about whether pumpkin spice season starts in August or September, Transavia is already thinking summer 2026. Yep, the Dutch low-cost darling has flung open its booking window for the April–October season, and it’s basically a masterclass in “how to chase the sun.”

From Sardinia to Sicily, from Greek islands to Egyptian beaches, Transavia’s schedule looks like it was put together by someone with a Pinterest board titled Mediterranean Dreaming. And let’s be honest—aren’t we all that person deep down?

New Routes, New Excuses

Kicking things off are the shiny new scheduled routes:

  • Amsterdam–Alghero (Sardinia): Because your Instagram feed definitely needs another beach with turquoise water and pastel-colored houses.
  • Amsterdam–Palermo (Sicily): Perfect for mixing cannoli with culture, and maybe a mafia movie rewatch on the flight over.
  • Eindhoven–Olbia (Sardinia): Great news for Brabanders—no more sneaky drives to Schiphol just to get to paradise.
  • Rotterdam–Catania (Sicily): Rotterdam folks, you can now swap cube houses for Mount Etna. Fair trade, right?

Basically, Transavia is doubling down on Italy—because nothing says “holiday” like pasta followed by gelato followed by regret, followed by more pasta.

From Charter to Click-and-Book

In another plot twist, Transavia is making charter routes bookable directly. Translation: you don’t need to sell a kidney to get a package deal—you can just grab the flight and DIY the rest.

Here’s what’s now up for grabs:

  • Greek islands galore: Skiathos, Karpathos, and Lesbos. If you can’t pronounce them after two ouzos, don’t worry—you’re in the right place.
  • Egyptian classics: Hurghada and Marsa Alam. Guaranteed sun, coral reefs, and the occasional camel photo bomb.
  • Turkey’s favorite beach club: Antalya. Think mega resorts, hammams, and bazaars big enough to lose your partner in.

It’s like Transavia went shopping in a “top 10 holiday spots” list and just bought the lot.

Mediterranean Obsession (and Brussels Too)

Notice a theme? Yep, Transavia’s heart beats Mediterranean. Sardinia, Sicily, Greece, Egypt, Turkey—the only thing missing is a route to a vineyard in Provence with unlimited rosé service. (Give it time.)

And let’s not forget, it’s not just Amsterdam hogging the fun. Eindhoven, Rotterdam, and Brussels are also getting in on the action. Because apparently, sunshine is a basic human right, not just a Randstad luxury.

Why This Matters (Besides Your Tan)

On paper, this is about network growth, strengthening Transavia’s position, blah blah blah. But for the rest of us, it means cheaper, easier ways to justify a holiday. With flights spread across the Netherlands and Belgium, there are fewer excuses left for not taking that Sardinian escape or Greek island-hopping adventure.

Also, by expanding into Egypt and Turkey, Transavia is giving winter-weary travelers what they crave most: guaranteed Vitamin D. Because let’s face it, Dutch summers are about as reliable as an IKEA Allen key.

The Bottom Line

Transavia’s summer 2026 schedule is like one giant Mediterranean buffet: Sardinia, Sicily, Greek islands, Egypt, Turkey—you name it, it’s there. Add in multiple departure points (Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, and Brussels), and you’ve got sunshine practically gift-wrapped.

So whether you’re team “lazy beach holiday,” team “ancient ruins and culture,” or team “drink Aperol until you forget your PIN code,” Transavia has you covered.

Summer 2026: more routes, more sun, fewer excuses.

Now go ahead—dust off the suitcase, practice your Italian hand gestures, and start arguing over whether to pack flip-flops and hiking boots. Transavia’s already planned the holiday; you just have to show up.

Additionally, these destinations are not random, and might actually be on the summer wishlist which include areas such as Gdansk, Bari, Zadar, Skiathos, and Milan Malpensa. Also, can we get a Mediterranean beach please?

In a shocking turn of events, the airline Ryanair seems to be opening more aircraft options which can only signal good things for tourists hoping to visit the beautiful regions in Bratislava. Ryanair confirms that in about a months time, they will have two additional planes in their fleet. But it’s not just the planes, they are planning on increasing the airport capacity by 25%, and the best part is this will help generate around 1000 jobs and create a great deal of joy with 90 high paying aviation jobs. Ladies and gentlemen, there is only one way to say this, but Bratislava has officially made it’s mark on the world.

Norwegian Airlines Brings the Nordic Cool Back

Missed the chill vibes of Scandinavia? Norwegian Airlines is bringing back its direct route to Copenhagen starting June 28, 2025—10 years after it was last in the air. Why? Because Slovaks have been itching for that Nordic experience. With two flights per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, you can now pop over for some hygge and maybe a little Viking flair.

Oh, and let’s not forget Antalya—still flying strong after it became a local favourite last year. Pegasus is basically your golden ticket to affordable European and beyond adventures.

Bratislava’s Skyrocketing Growth

In 2024, almost 2 million passengers flew in and out of Bratislava. That’s pretty impressive, right? Well, with these exciting new routes, 2025 is shaping up to break that record in a big way. Plus, the Slovak government is all in with its National Aviation Strategy, which means more tourists, more business, and more reasons to celebrate. Basically, Slovakia’s future in aviation looks pretty darn bright.

Bratislava Airport: Europe’s New Favourite Hub
