More Flights, More Choices, and More Double-Deckers

Let’s start with the good news—Qatar Airways is going all in on several popular destinations. If you love options (and who doesn’t?), here’s what’s in store:

• Bangkok is getting an upgrade, with flights increasing from 35 to 38 per week from June through September. And for those who appreciate a grand entrance, 10 of those flights will be on the legendary Airbus A380—a flying palace in the sky.
• Nice is getting, well, nicer! Instead of four flights per week, Qatar Airways is boosting its service to daily flights to the French Riviera. Because nothing says summer like sipping rosé on the Côte d’Azur.
• Phuket keeps its 14 weekly flights, dodging a planned reduction. Seems like someone at HQ really wanted their beach holiday secured.
• London Gatwick flyers, rejoice! From July 16, both daily flights will be on the swanky Boeing 787-9, offering a smoother, more comfortable ride.

And that’s not all—Frankfurt, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City are also getting a flight frequency boost, proving once again that Qatar Airways refuses to sit still.

Plane Swaps: Bigger, Smaller, or Just Different?

• Denpasar (Bali) will experience a game of aircraft musical chairs, starting with a 787-8 before upgrading to a 777-300ER in June. Perfect for stretching out after a yoga retreat.
• Isfahan returns to the map with twice-weekly flights from August 1, operated by the Airbus A320. It’s not the biggest, but hey, it gets you there!

Now for the Not-So-Great News…

Not all routes are winners this time around. Some destinations are getting trimmed down, and others are disappearing altogether. Here’s what’s on the chopping block:

• Belgrade, Copenhagen, Geneva, and Osaka are seeing frequency reductions, so travellers in these cities might want to lock in their seats early.
• Paris and Rome are getting slight downgrades, possibly to make space for all those extra Bangkok flights. Priorities, people.

And the biggest disappointment?

• No extra flights for New York or Los Angeles. If you were hoping for an extra daily flight to JFK or that much-hyped increase to 14 weekly flights to LAX, sorry—Qatar Airways just isn’t feeling it this year.
• Lyon and Mersin? Gone. The airline has officially pulled the plug on these routes. Blink and you missed them.
