Condor announces exciting network expansion to London Gatwick 2026

Condor announces exciting network expansion to London Gatwick 2026

Condor has finally decided that 2026 is the year it stops pretending London doesn’t exist. Starting April 2026, the airline will swoop into London Gatwick (LGW) with all the confidence of someone who’s just discovered budget spreadsheets and turmeric lattes. For the first time ever, London joins Condor’s network — which is kind of wild, considering half of Europe flies to London simply to buy a Pret sandwich and complain about the weather.

But Condor is not tip-toeing into the UK. Oh no. It’s kicking the door open with three daily flights between Frankfurt (FRA) and Gatwick. Morning, midday, evening — pick your flavour. Whether you’re a business traveller, a stressed parent, a tourist with a Harry Potter bucket list, or someone who just desperately needs access to Marks & Spencer’s meal deals, Condor’s got you sorted.

Why This Route Actually Matters (Even if You Pretend It Doesn’t)

Let’s be honest: Frankfurt and London are like two overachieving siblings who spend their weekends comparing GDP figures and arguing about who invented efficiency. A direct connection between the two financial superpowers? It’s basically aviation therapy.

For business travellers, this route is the holy grail:

  • Early flight to London, do your meetings, have an overpriced flat white, maybe buy a tie at Heathrow, and fly home by dinner.
  • Or flip it: Frankfurt in the morning, schnitzel in the evening.
  • All without having to explain why you blew your travel budget on surge-priced taxis.

Meanwhile, tourists are about to win big too. Weekend in London? Yes please. Catch a musical, visit Buckingham Palace, take blurry photos of Big Ben, and pretend you understand cricket. London’s calling — and now Condor’s answering the phone.

Condor’s CEO, Peter Gerber, even called the launch “a clear signal of growth in the European market,” which is CEO language for: We’re feeling bold and we’re here to play. Gatwick’s Chief Commercial Officer Jonathan Pollard also chimed in with a cheerful welcome, probably thrilled that yet another airline wants a slice of London’s aviation buffet.

Wait, There’s More — Condor’s Pulling Out Its Travel Calendar

Because Condor doesn’t do things halfway, the airline is also bringing back two fan-favourite routes, the kind customers kept asking about like persistent toddlers.

1. Düsseldorf → Sulaymaniyah, Iraq

Starts: December 2025

Frequency: Weekly

Purpose: Mainly visiting family and friends
Think heartfelt reunions, big gatherings, and probably a lot of luggage filled with gifts and mysterious snacks that airport security side-eyes with curiosity. It’s wholesome. It’s emotional. It’s the kind of route that keeps cultures connected — plus, Düsseldorf locals finally get their shortcut back.

2. Frankfurt → Tbilisi, Georgia

Starts: June 2026

Frequency: Daily

Purpose: Culture, wine, mountains, more wine
Tbilisi is one of Europe’s rising stars — warm hospitality, food you’ll dream about for months, vibrant architecture, and a wine culture older than your entire family tree. A daily flight means Condor is clearly betting big on Georgia becoming everyone’s favourite long weekend escape.

So What’s the Big Picture?

Condor is expanding like it just discovered a motivational podcast. London Gatwick joins the map. Former routes return with fanfare. Business travellers get convenience. Tourists get adventures. Frankfurt gets more bragging rights. Gatwick gets more planes. And we all get another excuse to book a spontaneous trip.

In short: Condor’s not just growing — it’s glow-ing. And 2026 travel just got a whole lot more interesting. With Condor back in the game, London’s sky just got brighter, tastier, and a whole lot better connected. Cheers to that!

Eurowings Adds 4 Exciting Sunny Routes from Cologne this Summer

Eurowings Adds 4 Exciting Sunny Routes from Cologne this Summer

Pack your sunscreen, hiking boots, and maybe a translator—Eurowings is turning up the heat for Summer 2025 with four sizzling new destinations from Cologne/Bonn Airport! Starting this summer, travelers can hop on direct flights to Bastia (Corsica), Porto (Portugal), Klagenfurt (Austria), and Erbil (Iraq). Oh, and Funchal (Madeira)? That one’s sticking around for winter and summer now. Because when it comes to island getaways, we don’t do seasonal flings anymore.

Yes, Eurowings is on a mission: more sunshine, more city breaks, more family reunions, and more choices for people who just can’t sit still.

Your Summer Just Got Four Destinations Hotter

Porto, Portugal – Three Times a Week

You had us at port wine. Starting Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, Cologne travelers can escape to Porto’s charming riverside, tiled buildings, and seriously Instagrammable sunsets. This city is all about good food, great vibes, and vino that doesn’t break the bank.

Bastia, Corsica – Saturdays Only, So Plan Accordingly

One flight a week, but oh boy—it’s worth it. With its mix of Mediterranean beaches and rugged mountain trails, Bastia is perfect for both sunbathers and amateur hikers who think they’re Bear Grylls. Corsica is where lazy beach days meet dramatic coastal drives (with minimal effort required).

Klagenfurt, Austria – Mondays and Fridays

This is for the “I want mountains, lakes, and schnitzel” crowd. Nestled in Austria’s south, Klagenfurt is the gateway to Lake Wörthersee, a sparkling body of water so pretty you’ll wonder if it’s been filtered. Fly in, breathe out, and dive in.

Erbil, Iraq – Wednesdays

Looking for something off the beaten path? Say hello to Erbil, one of the world’s oldest cities and a hub for Kurdish culture. Whether you’re visiting family, exploring ancient citadels, or just want to go where your friends definitely haven’t, this once-a-week route makes northern Iraq more accessible than ever.

Wait, Funchal Is Staying?

Yup. Madeira is no longer a winter-only romance. Eurowings will now offer year-round flights to Funchal on Thursdays and Sundays, meaning you can enjoy lush mountains, volcanic coastlines, and wildly twisty roads whenever your heart desires.

Because let’s face it—Madeira is one of those places where you start planning your return trip before you’ve even left.

Cologne/Bonn Gets a Bigger Wing (Literally)

To support all this new wanderlust, Eurowings is increasing its fleet to 17 aircraft based at Cologne/Bonn Airport. That’s a lot of wing power.

Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH, is understandably thrilled:

“These new routes highlight the strength and growth of our partnership with Eurowings. Travellers now have even more choice for holidays, family visits, or city getaways.”

Translation: Cologne/Bonn is becoming the one-stop shop for both your beach escape and your grandma visit.

Bottom Line: More Destinations, More Flexibility, More Summer Wins

Whether you’re craving coastal chill in Corsica, wine and wanderlust in Porto, alpine serenity in Austria, or a cultural deep-dive in Erbil, Eurowings has officially made it easier than ever to go places—without maxing out your credit card or burning your vacation days all at once.

So, go ahead:

  • Set that out-of-office reply
  • Pack that slightly-too-large carry-on
  • And book yourself a summer worth bragging about

Because with Eurowings, Cologne is your runway—and Europe (and beyond) is wide open.
