Austrian Airlines expands for Summer 2026 with 7 new destinations

Hold on to your Sacher-Torte — Austrian Airlines just dropped its Summer 2026 schedule, and it’s bursting with new destinations, more Mediterranean getaways, and even a few “coolcation” escapes for those who’d rather wear a sweater than sunscreen.

From March 29 to October 24, 2026, Austria’s flag carrier will serve 133 destinations worldwide (because apparently, 127 just wasn’t enough last year). That includes 113 short- and medium-haul routes and 20 long-haul ones — proof that Austrian is in full-on “let’s go everywhere” mode.

Seven shiny new destinations

Because seven is the magic number (and also the number of times you’ll repack before your flight), Austrian Airlines is adding:

  • Ponta Delgada, Azores – Weekly from late June to early September. Think volcanic landscapes, whale watching, and that smug feeling of being “off the beaten path.”
  • Alicante, Spain – Twice weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays). For those who like their beaches with a side of sangria.
  • Bilbao, Spain – Twice weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays). Where modern art meets mouthwatering pintxos.
  • Bastia, Corsica – Twice weekly (Tuesdays and Saturdays). Perfect for anyone who can’t decide between France and Italy.
  • Ohrid, North Macedonia – Twice weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays). A fairytale lake city with medieval charm and water so clear you’ll question reality.
  • Mytilene, Lesbos, Greece – Weekly on Mondays. Sunshine, seafood, and serenity — because Mondays deserve a little love.
  • Bergen, Norway – Three times weekly (early June to mid-September). A “coolcation” dream with fjords, fresh air, and zero chance of sunburn.

A Mediterranean comeback tour

If your 2026 travel mood board looks like “somewhere warm with olives,” you’re in luck. Austrian Airlines is boosting flights to the Med’s hottest spots, adding:

  • +5 weekly flights to Barcelona (because one can never have too many tapas options).
  • +3 to Málaga, for those who enjoy sunshine and pretending they’re in a music video.
  • +1 to Funchal and Tenerife, because even the Atlantic islands want in on the fun.

In total, the network now includes 21 Greek and 11 Spanish destinations — plus Italy, which remains irresistible as ever. Milan Linate even joins the summer schedule after a successful winter debut. Apparently, Milan’s fashion doesn’t take a vacation either.

Chilling is the new thrilling

For those who believe that sweating through your linen outfit isn’t a holiday, Austrian is embracing the “coolcation” trend — the art of escaping the heat in style.

The airline is ramping up flights to Norway, now offering 13 weekly services (up from 9), including Oslo, Tromsø, the Lofoten Islands, and the newcomer Bergen.

Also back for summer 2026: Edinburgh (where castles meet bagpipes) and Sylt, Germany’s chic North Sea island that’s basically the Hamptons with more pretzels.

Long-haul legends

Of course, Austrian Airlines isn’t forgetting the big adventures. Its long-haul lineup stays strong with:

  • Africa: Cairo (year-round), Mauritius, Marrakech
  • Asia: Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai, Malé
  • North America: Boston, New York (JFK & EWR), Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Montreal

Basically, if you spin a globe, Austrian probably flies there — or will soon.

Extra planes, extra possibilities

To keep up with all these new routes, Austrian Airlines will add two aircraft through its wet-lease partner airBaltic. This ensures everything runs smoothly (and Vienna doesn’t turn into a game of “find the empty gate”).

CEO of Austrian Airlines, Annette Mann,  summed it up best:

“With our 2026 summer schedule, we aim to serve our guests’ favourite Mediterranean destinations with increased frequencies while also offering exciting new opportunities for travel planning.”

Translation: We’re flying you to the sun, the snow, and everywhere in between — because you deserve options.

She added that expanding capacity reaffirms the airline’s commitment to its home base in Vienna — and to the noble mission of making every summer itinerary a little harder to choose.

So whether you’re craving Greek beaches, Nordic fjords, or just another excuse to tell your boss you’ll be “working remotely,” Austrian’s summer schedule has you covered — literally from the Azores to the Arctic Circle.

Better start packing now. (And don’t forget the sunscreen and the scarf — just in case.)

Wizz Air

Wizz Air Goes Big in Poland 2025: New Routes, More Planes, and a Whole Lot of Purple Pride

Fasten your seatbelts, Poland — Wizz Air just hit the “expansion” button again. The low-cost legend is turning 2026 into a masterclass in how to grow fast and look good doing it. With over one million extra seats, shiny new aircraft, and 11 brand-new routes split between Gdansk and Wroclaw, the airline isn’t just flying — it’s flexing.

Gdansk Gets the Glow-Up

First stop: Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, where Wizz Air is adding its ninth Airbus A321neo — because apparently eight wasn’t enough. This upgrade comes with five new routes that sound like a European travel wish list: Poprad-Tatry (Slovakia), Tallinn (Estonia), Vilnius (Lithuania), Athens (Greece), and Nice (France). Whether you’re chasing mountain air, Baltic charm, or Mediterranean sunshine, there’s now a Wizz Air boarding pass with your name on it.

The expansion means more than 500,000 extra seats and 39 routes connecting Gdansk to 19 countries — basically making the city the unofficial HQ of affordable adventure. CEO József Váradi called the move a “vote of confidence in Poland and Gdansk.” Translation: Wizz Air believes in Gdansk the way Poles believe in pierogi — wholeheartedly.

Meanwhile in Wroclaw…

Not to be outdone, Wroclaw is getting its own glow-up. Come June 2026, Wizz Air will park a third Airbus A321neo here, because clearly there’s no such thing as too much purple. Alongside it comes a fresh lineup of six new destinations: Reykjavik (Iceland), Dortmund (Germany), Varna (Bulgaria), Gran Canaria (Spain), Catania (Italy), and Ohrid (Macedonia). Whether you fancy the Northern Lights, the Mediterranean sun, or just a solid tan in the Canaries, there’s a new route calling your name.

Wizz Air isn’t just adding cities — it’s also boosting flights to crowd-pleasers like Barcelona, Bari, Tirana, and Malaga. So if your summer plans involve sangria, seafood, or selfies in southern Europe, your Wroclaw departure just got a whole lot easier. By the numbers, Wroclaw’s network will hit 22 routes across 17 countries and another 500,000+ seats. That’s half a million more reasons to book a trip you “definitely deserve.”

The Stats Don’t Lie

From January to October 2025, Wizz Air operated more than 50,000 flights in Poland, carried 11 million passengers, and achieved a 99.8% completion rate. That’s the aviation equivalent of an A+ student who also runs marathons on weekends. Basically, Wizz Air doesn’t just promise — it delivers (on time and usually for less than your Uber ride to the airport).

Poland’s Purple Power Move

These twin expansions aren’t just about flights — they’re about momentum. Gdansk and Wroclaw are now central to Wizz Air’s grand plan to make travel across Poland (and beyond) more connected, more affordable, and just a little more fun. It’s a big win for regional tourism, local jobs, and anyone who likes seeing “Total: €24.99” at checkout.

The skies above Poland are getting busier, brighter, and a whole lot more purple — and Wizz Air is leading the charge with a grin, a plan, and a few million extra seats.

So, whether you’re a spontaneous traveler or a professional flight deal hunter, this is your sign to start packing. Because with Wizz Air doubling down on Gdansk and Wroclaw, 2026 is officially the year to go wherever your wanderlust (and budget) take you — just make sure your carry-on meets the size limits.

So what are you waiting for? Europe has never been so accessible – Wizz Air Goes Big in Poland 2025: New Routes, More Planes, and a Whole Lot of Purple Pride!
