Emirates airlines to operate extra flights for upcoming Hajj season

June 23, 2022 –

With the significant demand for air travel during Hajj, Emirates is deploying extra flights to ensure more connectivity for the scores of pilgrims making their way to the Holy City of Makkah. Emirates will be operating special flights to Jeddah and Medina during the upcoming Hajj season to carry pilgrims for this special period.

Emirates airlines

Emirates will be deploying 31 additional flights to Jeddah and double daily flights to Medina from 23 June to 20 July to help transport pilgrims to carry out one of the key pillars of Islam. These services will run in parallel with Emirates’ regularly scheduled services.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has greatly expanded its Hajj participation this year to nearly a million pilgrims. This year, Emirates has seen strong demand for Hajj travel from Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Turkey, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malaysia, the UK, US, UAE and Algeria.

The special services are available to travellers holding a valid Hajj visa. Pilgrims must also be under the age of 65, hold a valid vaccination certificate with a vaccine authorised by the Saudi Ministry of Health, and must also carry a negative PCR test done within 72 hours of departure.

Given the significance of the once-in-a-lifetime Hajj experience, the airline’s teams have been working hard to ensure that every detail of the pilgrim’s experience is aligned with the tenets of their faith.

From the moment pilgrims step onto the aircraft, a range of initiatives have been planned in keeping with the values and traditions of the Hajj journey.

Extra provisions to accommodate Hajj traveller needs such as ablution cleansing rituals, unperfumed towels, advising passengers while en route to Jeddah about when they have entered Al Miqat zones (state of sanctity) and changing of Ihram robes through special PAs, and other arrangements have been planned to ease their journey and ready them for the rest of their pilgrimage. Emirates’ award winning ice system will also feature a special Hajj video that covers safety, general formalities and information about performing the Hajj pilgrimage. Pilgrims will also be able to tune into the Holy Quran channel, in addition to other religious content.

On flights from Jeddah, passengers can check-in up to 5 litres of holy water (Zamzam), which will be placed in special areas in the cargo hold.

Hilton expands luxury portfolio in Japan with Conrad Hotels Resorts in Nagoya

June 14 2022 –

Hilton has announced the signing of an agreement with Mitsubishi Estate Co to open Conrad Nagoya in the summer of 2026. The hotel will be part of a multi-company* mixed-use development, located in Nagoya’s central business district of Sakae, Aichi Prefecture.

Conrad Hotels Resorts in Nagoya

“Together with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., we are delighted to bring Conrad Hotels  Resorts in Nagoya, Japan’s center of manufacturing and craftsmanship, and one of Japan’s leading metropolitan areas with a population of more than 10 million,” said Clarence Tan, senior vice president, Development, Asia Pacific. “Nagoya attracts travelers from Japan and abroad and remains an important market for Hilton since the opening of the Hilton Nagoya in 1989. The signing of Conrad Nagoya marks a continued expansion of our luxury footprint in Japan’s most sought-after destinations, following the opening of ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts, in Kyoto and the signings of Waldorf Astoria in Tokyo and Osaka.”

Situated alongside four main thoroughfares of the city center, Conrad Nagoya will span 13 stories of a new 41-story mixed-use building complex housing commercial facilities, a multiplex cinema, and offices in addition to the hotel. Travelers will enjoy convenient access to the Chubu Centrair International Airport, approximately 50 kilometers away, as well as key business districts with the building directly connected to Sakae Subway Station. For tourists looking to explore Nagoya at leisure, the hotel is located near attractions such as Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Art Museum, Atsuta Shrine, Nagoya Noh Theater, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, and Osu shopping district.

“We are pleased to have Hilton, a world-renowned global hospitality company, join us in this mixed-used development project to open a luxury Conrad Hotels & Resorts property,” said Takashi Kobari, executive officer and general manager, Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. “We are confident that the opening of Nagoya’s first international luxury hotel will contribute to the further revitalization of the Sakae area and, by extension, the international competitiveness of the city of Nagoya as it prepares to open the new maglev line. We will make every effort to promote this project so that Conrad Nagoya will be a space where all visitors can enjoy an incredible experience.”

Conrad Hotels Resorts in Nagoya will feature a total of 170 guest rooms, four restaurants including an all-day dining restaurant and rooftop bar, a gym, spa, and indoor pool. An executive lounge, meeting rooms, and a 180-person capacity ballroom will appeal to the needs of banquets and business meetings, all while delivering Conrad’s signature intuitive service. With inspiration drawn from the rich cultural heritage of the region, the hotel’s bold, locally inspired design will incorporate the art and exquisite craftsmanship that Aichi Prefecture is renowned for – enabling guests to fully immerse themselves in the destination.

“Each Conrad property is known for the discreet yet sophisticated luxury it brings to its destination. Once open, Conrad Nagoya will – without a doubt – be an outstanding addition to our luxury portfolio as it joins other award-winning Conrad Hotels & Resorts spanning five continents,” said Nils-Arne Schroeder, vice president, Luxury, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “We are confident that Conrad Nagoya will be perfectly positioned to offer guests inspiring travel experiences with personalized connections to the local culture for which Nagoya is known – supported by the contemporary design and the brand’s signature purposeful, passionate service which speaks to the hearts and minds of the modern traveler.” Conrad Hotels Resorts in Nagoya

Botanika Osa Peninsula debuts as Costa Rica’s premier eco resort

June 13 2022 –

Botánika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton, a premier eco-resort in Costa Rica’s unspoiled South Pacific Coast, is now open. Managed by Aqua-Aston Hospitality, Botánika Osa Peninsula promises to deliver a distinctive resort experience and exclusive access to some of the region’s best sportfishing and eco- and adventure-tourism activities.

Botanika Osa Peninsula

Located beside two of Costa Rica’s most prized natural jewels—Corcovado National Park and the Pacific Ocean’s Golfo Dulce—Botánika Osa Peninsula is in perfect harmony with nature, set across 21 acres of lush flora and fauna. The resort provides travelers an unspoiled rainforest escape with well-appointed residence accommodations, upscale dining outlets, a 100-seat event space, along with rainforest-inspired experiences at the resort’s Clubhouse, neighboring Crocodile Bay Marina and the new Botánika Science and Nature Center. Activity guides curate unforgettable recreation experiences and excursions throughout the Osa Peninsula. Guests traveling by air will arrive at Puerto Jiménez Airport, just minutes from the resort. Botánika Osa Peninsula’s location also allows for daily arrivals by water via the Golfo Dulce.

“Our goal is to make it easier for travelers to experience the hidden gem that is the Osa Peninsula,” said Diego Oviedo, general manager. “We thoughtfully created a resort environment to serve as the perfect home base. We offer a welcoming respite for our guests – which include avid sport anglers, adventurers, and first-time visitors to Costa Rica – to seamlessly immerse themselves in all the dynamic experiences our destination has to offer.”

The resort features contemporary architecture by Gensler and Modus Operandi that perfectly coexists with the environment. The interior design, by Francisco Jove of Modus Operandi, evokes a refined sense of place where the lines between outdoor and indoor blur throughout the public spaces and guest accommodations, featuring wide verandas, expansive glass walls and indigenous landscaping.

The resort is opening with 44 rainforest residences, available in studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, modern kitchenettes or full kitchens with high-end appliances, oversized terraces, and a private rooftop lounge for nature viewing and stargasing. Each spacious suite has a bright color palette and biophilic aesthetic that complements the lush rainforest landscape. In 2023, Botánika Osa Peninsula will have a total of 123 rainforest residences.

The resort staff will meet guests at the airport where they will accompany them on a short shuttle ride to the resort, arriving at the Clubhouse – the heart of the resort, located at the property entrance. From there, guests are ushered into the lobby and greeted with a refreshing beverage. The Clubhouse space is complete with a reception area, concierge desk, outdoor seating and a courtyard terrace. The Clubhouse also houses the resort’s signature restaurant, lounge, wine bar, and a 2,600 square foot state-of-the-art fitness center, as well as unique gardens where guests can see wildlife such as monkeys, hummingbirds and flora like orchids and bamboo.

Executive Chef Jose Tizado leads the resort’s four culinary outlets. His elevated menus feature sustainable ingredients sourced from regional purveyors and the resort gardens. Tierra a la Mesa, the resort’s signature restaurant, serves daily breakfast and dinner and offers indoor and alfresco seating. Its menus showcase the bounty of local farmers and fishers. Guests can look forward to trying dishes like the Tomahawk steak or freshly caught Mahi Mahi prepared in a custom charcoal barbecue grill using traditional Costa Rican cooking techniques. Becra is a more casual dining option and the perfect place to have a quick bite in between excursions or enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. Driza, the resort’s poolside cocktail lounge, is open for lunch and happy hour and features live musical performances by local artists. Wine bar Babanca provides a perfect environment for VIP tasting experiences and small events.

“With locally influenced culinary offerings, inspired design and an array of curated activities enabling guests to connect with nature, every element of Botánika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton reflects Costa Rica’s rich culture and gorgeous landscape,” said Jenna Hackett, global brand head, Curio Collection by Hilton. “We’re excited to welcome this distinct new property to the portfolio and provide travelers an authentic experience in this one-of-a-kind destination.”

Surrounded by indigenous gardens and flanked by poolside cabanas and two Jacuzzis, the lagoon-style swimming pool offers an ideal environment for a tranquil dip. Fitness devotees will enjoy the state-of-the-art fitness center, which features a stretching area, weight training equipment, cable training gear, advanced cardio machines and HIIT training. Guests can cool down on various walking trails that meander through the resort’s gardens.

A forthcoming spa with restorative therapies that target the mind, body and spirit is set to open in 2023. The menu will feature customised treatments inspired by the rainforest and surrounding botanicals, from hot stone massages to chocolate wraps and coffee scrubs. Rooftop yoga will also be offered for guests.

The Osa Peninsula, dubbed “the most biologically intense place on Earth” by National Geographic, is a remote destination. Botánika Osa Peninsula offers guests the chance to discover the region’s rich wildlife, national parks, forest reserves and protected beaches with its guided land and sea eco-adventures.

The Botánika Science and Nature Center hosts visiting scientists from major universities, including Stanford University, the Billfish Research Laboratory at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, and the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. The scientists educate guests about the local fauna and lead excursions to tag fish, dolphins and sharks for research. Botánika has also partnered with the non-profit foundation BioSur to host the largest insect museum in southern Costa Rica with over 6,000 species of endemic butterflies, beetles and moths. The collection is so expansive that it has been designated a National Heritage Site by Costa Rica.

Those who want to take in the rainforest’s incredible wildlife can enjoy overnight and day hikes through the tropical lowland, take a guided zip-line tour of the rainforest, or embark on bird and monkey watching tours. One of the most coveted hiking destinations in the world, Corcovado National Park is in close proximity to the resort, perfect for a full day adventure for guests to experience the impressive wildlife and forest. Guests interested in marine life can adventure on an ocean safari and explore the waters of the Golfo Dulce while spotting humpback whales, whale sharks and dolphins. Gulfo Dulce is one of only four tropical fjords in the world and is rich with volcanic reefs, crevices and caves that boast a staggering variety of marine life.

To help preserve the region’s rich ecosystem for future travelers, the resort partners with Surcos Tour on beach cleanup efforts in the community and supports the non-profit BioSur foundation in efforts to rescue endangered wildlife. In addition to rescuing, the resort also works to educate guests and the local community on the dangers of disrupting any animals but specifically poaching sea turtle eggs through a local Sea Turtle Conservation project. Botánika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton also serves as a community recycling hub, with team members dedicating their own time and vehicles to travel to the nearest recycling center nearly 30 miles away.

Botánika guests enjoy access to Crocodile Bay Marina’s famous world-class sportfishing excursions, complete with local expert guides and best-in-class equipment. The marina is expanding into a full-service international marina with 257 boat slips that can accommodate yachts up to 250 feet in length, a yacht club, a flagship over-water restaurant and seaside shops.

Botánika Osa Peninsula is part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton’s 18 distinct hotel brands.

Centro Mada Amman Jordan opens its doors

June 13 2022 –

Rotana has announced the soft opening of Centro Mada Amman, a concept hotel designed for a new generation of business travellers demanding both finesse and functionality at reasonable rates. The new property is the first of the Centro by Rotana brand to open in Amman and the third Rotana-managed hotel to join the hospitality group’s growing portfolio in the kingdom.

Centro Mada Amman Jordan

Nestled in the heart of the Jordanian capital’s business and leisure hub of Abdoun, Centro Mada Amman is minutes away from key embassies, historical sites and Queen Alia International Airport, making it the ideal base for travellers seeking a convenient, comfortable stay. Combining elegance with contemporary design, the hotel delivers a modern twist on long-standing Jordanian cultural elements, including the warm hospitality for which Jordanians are renowned.

Imad Akil, General Manager of Centro Mada Amman, said: “We are thrilled about the opening of our first Centro property in Amman and we are confident that Centro Mada will positively meet the demands of the new generation of travellers who seek superior experiences and good value. During this soft opening phase, we are excited to offer a taste of the Centro Mada experience, with its lifestyle approach that provides guests with a distinct combination of style, warmth, and convenience with a dash of creativity in all its offerings.”

The opening highlights the group’s firm belief in the country’s potential as a vital tourism and business hub in the region. Akil, who brings more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality sector and has played key leadership roles in the launch of several Rotana hotels across the region, also noted that Centro Mada bridges the gap in Jordan’s mid-tier market, which currently occupies only 27 percent of the local hospitality sector.

At Centre Mada, Akil has successfully cultivated a team of about 90 highly skilled staff who have been specifically trained to ensure that the experience lives up to the high standards established by the Rotana brand. Moreover, the entire experience is driven by an eco-friendly strategy that relies almost exclusively on solar power and prioritises resource conservation as much as possible, maintaining Rotana’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. Six Senses Ibiza

Six Senses Ibiza debuts new villas

Six Senses Ibiza

Six Senses Ibiza debuts new villas

June 10 2022 –

Six Senses Ibiza debuts its collection of 19 Residences and two exclusive Mansions, enhancing the resort’s room inventory to 137 keys. Spanning from three to ten bedrooms, these masterfully designed accommodations – perfect for families and groups – answer the desire to reconnect with loved ones away from everyday routines.

Six Senses Ibiza

“Ibiza has always been about coming together and celebrating life,” says General Manager David Arraya. “Our new multi-bedroom villas invite guests to spend quality time with friends and family in a private setting while also enjoying a unique community and vibe here in the magical north of the island.”

The Residences and Mansions are the perfect setup for a sophisticated villa vacation, offering a stunning location, large ensuite bedrooms, indoor gathering areas, private pools, outdoor spaces for sunrise salutations and sundowner cocktails, and special services such as an in-villa chef, concierge, spa treatments, and more. Here, guests gather to celebrate life with their tribe.

These villas are truly distinct because guests also belong to the Six Senses Ibiza community. This gives them unparalleled access to the resort’s comprehensive range of amenities and programming, including farm-to-table dining in three diverse restaurants, the famed Six Senses Spa, fitness center, one-of-a-kind kids’ club as well as a rich schedule of daily activities including yoga, Pilates, fitness, sound healing, breath, kayaking, cliff jumping and more. Most scheduled activities are also available as private sessions, so guests can choose to either roll out their yoga mats on their private terrace or join a group sunset session on the large rooftop yoga deck in the heart of the resort.

Each villa comes with a personal Guest Experience Maker, or GEM, available to make each stay most comfortable and unlock Ibiza’s best-kept secrets, from local restaurants to the island’s nightlife or private day trips on the resort’s fleet of boats to unexplored beaches and adventures on neighboring Formentera.

The Residences – Prime location with modern yet elegant finca design
Designed and conceived by architect and owner Jonathan Leitersdorf, the Residences are a contemporary interpretation of a traditional finca aesthetic with comfort, luxury, and accessibility in mind. Situated above the resort and with unobstructed sea views, infinite sunrises and sunsets create the ideal backdrop to dramatically scaled living spaces. The interiors offer up to 10,764 square feet (1,000 square meters) of living space incorporating sustainable, natural materials such as wood and micro terrazzo stone, echoing local design influences. Outside, there are intimate terraces and private pools for lounging or larking. Inside, guests will find fully equipped open plan kitchens, expansive living and dining spaces with custom-made furniture, and artwork from the resort’s photography collaboration with Magnum Photos.

The Mansions – Six Senses Ibiza’s most exclusive private villas
Located high up on either side of the resort, two beautifully designed Mansions – the ten-bedroom Pinnacle and the five-bedroom Cliffhanger – are perfect for anyone seeking extra privacy, space, and top-end amenities and services. With extensive terraces and soul-expanding views across the sparkling Xarraca Bay, any special occasion celebrated here will be etched in memory forever.

The Cliffhanger gains its name from its prime position suspended over the cliffs, offering uninterrupted views across the bay from its floor to ceiling windows. The villa features 4,876 square feet (453 square meters) of indoor space with a private open plan kitchen and dining area, including a spacious living area leading to a large outdoor terrace and a 15-meter private infinity pool. There’s the flexible option for larger parties to link to the adjacent three-bedroom Residence, enhancing the Cliffhanger to eight bedrooms and opening access to an expansive rooftop terrace with a private bar and lounge area, perfect for entertaining and private events.

The ten-bedroom Pinnacle boasts 9,235 square feet (858 square meters) of interior living space and 7,050 square feet (655 square meters) of private outdoor space. It welcomes guests through a private entrance opening onto a Mediterranean-style courtyard and dramatic staircase leading to its main living floor. Besides a large open plan kitchen, spacious living area, degustation room, and private pool, the Pinnacle features a cinema and extensive outdoor terraces. The master bedroom opens to a large private terrace with a standalone bathtub taking center stage with views across the bay.

Six Senses Ibiza is a 35-minute private transfer from the airport.
