March 8 2022 – If you are looking for a truly authentic experience in the Middle East, Oman is the place to be. It has a rich cultural heritage; stunning scenery; and luxurious hotels to match.

Oman travel restriction, PCR test removed for fully vaccinated visitors

As soon as the pandemic struck, this place was on the verge of becoming one of the world’s most popular destinations. A protracted hiatus has now ended, and the country is once again open for business, with pre-flight testing regulations being eliminated in an effort to capitalise on the burgeoning tourism industry.

A PCR test is no longer required for fully vaccinated travellers to enter Oman as of Tuesday.

With this move, the Sultanate’s Supreme Committee dealing with COVID-19 would lift pandemic-related restrictions.

Wearing facemasks will only be required indoors and Hotels can accommodate all their guests and operate at 100 pct capacity.

Outdoor activities, conferences, events, and social gatherings can be held at 70% capacity if all attendees follow preventive and precautionary measures.

In contrast to the rest of the Middle East, Oman offers a unique blend of culture, tranquilly, and sheer natural beauty.

Oman, in contrast to many of the region’s “newer” countries, has authentic souks that give its cities an old-world charm. It was a major factor in the development of regional cuisine and style, among other things, as a result of trade routes.

Some of the nicest beaches in the Middle East can be found along the Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman, and a short drive away from Muscat, you can experience the breathtaking Hajar mountains and canyons.

Luxury hotel brands have created breathtakingly gorgeous properties near Muscat’s coast, in the Hajar mountain, and in Salalah.

Belgium quarantine rules – lifted from 7 march

belgium_quarantine_rules

March 7 2022 – The Belgian authorities have announced that starting from today, March 7, the country will switch to code yellow. This means that citizens of the country, as well as travellers, will now be subject to facilitated national COVID-19 restrictions.

Belgium quarantine rules – lifted from 7 march

Following the new update, no one will no longer be required to present a valid COVID Certificate when accessing bars, restaurants, and cafes, among others. In addition, the current restrictions that apply for different events will also be lifted.

“From March 7, the corona barometer will switch to code yellow. That has been decided by the Consultation Committee. For example, the Covid Safe Ticket will disappear in the catering industry, and restrictions for events will expire. The epidemic emergency and the federal phase of the national emergency plan will also be cancelled after two years,” the statement of the Belgian authorities reads.

The authorities have explained that the decision to ease the COVID-19 rules has been taken after concluding that the measures no longer halt the spread of the virus. According to the data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), Belgium has reported 31,703 new COVID-19 infection cases in the last seven days.

As for the vaccination rates, the figures from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reveal that 88.9 per cent of the entire adult population have completed their primary vaccination. In addition, another 74.5 per cent have also already received an additional vaccine dose.

Even though the requirement to present one of the passes when entering different public places has been lifted, it has been highlighted that mask-wearing remains mandatory when entering healthcare institutions. This requirement must be followed by all persons over the age of 12.

“In healthcare institutions such as hospitals and residential care centres, the mouth mask remains mandatory from the age of 12, just like on public transport,” the authorities added.

In addition, Belgium will also make other changes during the upcoming days. It has been revealed that starting from March 11, travellers will be able to enter the country without having to follow additional entry rules. According to the statement of the authorities, the requirement to complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) will no longer remain valid for travellers who reach Belgium from one of the European Union or Schengen Area countries.

Direct flight New Zealand to NY

Direct flight New Zealand to NY – Air New Zealand will launch flight in 2002

Direct flight New Zealand to NY

March 4, 2022 – Air New Zealand is launching a non-stop service between Auckland and New York City this year, making it one of the world’s longest flights.

Direct flight New Zealand to NY – Air New Zealand will launch flight in 2002

The flight is scheduled to take roughly 18 hours, falling only 60 minutes short of Singapore Airlines’ current non-stop record for the longest flight between Singapore and New York.

Originally scheduled for October 29, 2020, the Auckland-New York flight was postponed due to the worldwide spread of Covid-19, but the bum-numbing route is now back on the map after a lengthy delay.

“The end of this calendar year, we will be ramping up more passenger flights to North America and looking forwards to starting up our direct service to New York City,” CEO Greg Foran said during the release of Air New Zealand’s half-yearly financial results.

It is expected that Qantas, give the formal go-ahead for its own ambitious Project Sunrise flights linking Sydney and Melbourne with New York, London, and Paris soon after Air New Zealand believes the non-stop flight will hold increased appeal to passengers looking to skip stopovers in the post-pandemic area.

For this 14,200-kilometer trip, the Boeing 787-9 will proudly carry the flight numbers NZ1/NZ2 and have a “premium-heavy” seat distribution that tilts the balance towards business and premium economy to generate more income with fewer people on board, respectively.

Planned flights to Newark Liberty International Airport, which serves as a hub for Star Alliance partner United Airlines, were originally scheduled to depart from Auckland three times per week in October 2020.

Air New Zealand’s all-new business class seating has been in development for several years, with carefully selected groups of Air New Zealand passengers – including many who regularly fly the airline’s longest routes – helping to trial the seats in a secure workshop dubbed ‘Hangar 22’ located near the airline’s Auckland headquarters.

Only one passenger — an Airpoints Elite member who goes to the US every month – talked highly of the seat, even though all participants were had to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Customers who booked front-row seats in Business Premier in late 2020 will have the opportunity to improve their experience, according to a poll put out by the Star Alliance member.

There would be extra legroom, shared dining and privacy in the new suites, which Air New Zealand has also suggested may be branded as the Business Premier Alcove or Retreat.

Hawaii quarantine rules – lifted this month

Hawaii quarantine rules

March 3 2022 – Hawaii quarantine rules – Hawaii plans to lift its COVID-19 quarantine requirement for travellers this month. Starting on 26 March, those arriving from other places in the U.S. won’t have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to avoid sequestering themselves for five days.

Hawaii quarantine rules lifted

Hawaii is the only U.S. state to implement a coronavirus quarantine program of this kind. Gov. David Ige said the requirement saved lives and was a major factor in limiting the spread of COVID-19 in the islands. Hawaii has one of the lowest coronavirus infection rates in the nation. The quarantine period for travellers lasted 14 days when Hawaii first imposed it in March 2020. The state later created testing and vaccination exemptions.

The state screened 11.3 million passengers since the testing exemption was launched in October 2020, Ige said. Those arriving in Hawaii from outside the country still must adhere to U.S. federal guidelines, which vary depending on American citizenship. International tourists do not need to quarantine but still need proof of vaccination and a negative test.

The governor said he would maintain Hawaii’s indoor mask mandate at least through March 25, and would be evaluating whether to lift it after that. Hawaii is last state in the nation with a statewide mandate in effect. The governor said the state Department of Health will review the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before he decides, Ige said.

Bali to allow travellers from 14 March

March 2 2022 – The government of Indonesia will conduct a trial on receiving international travellers without quarantine in the resort island of Bali beginning March 14 under certain conditions. If the trial in Bali is successful, the government will expand the policy across Indonesia.

Bali to allow travellers from 14 March

The trial may be launched before March 14 if the government sees positive development in the next one week for the continued downward trend in the Covid-19 cases in Bali, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said.

Foreign visitors have to show proof of hotel booking payments for at least four days if they want to enter Bali, while Indonesians who arrive in the holiday island from abroad are required to show proof of domicile in the island, said Luhut, who is also coordinator of the public mobility restrictions policy for Java and Bali.

The international travellers who want to enter Bali should have been fully vaccinated or received booster jabs of the Covid-19 vaccine, besides conducting entry PCR tests and waiting at hotels for negative test results, he added. “If the tests show negative results, the international travellers are allowed to do other activities under health protocols,” the Indonesian official said, adding that they should also carry out PCR tests again on the third day at their hotels.

Jamaica loosens restrictions as pandemic recedes

Travellers 12 years of age and older will only need to provide a negative result from a Covid-19 antigen or PCR test conducted within 72 hours prior to their travel.

Additionally, travellers to Jamaica will no longer face travel-related quarantine measures.

“Eliminating travel-related quarantines and the need for travellers to fill out and receive approval of the travel authorisation form are key steps in relaxing our travel protocols as the global spread of Covid-19 declines,” said Edmund Bartlett, minister of tourism, Jamaica.

“We are confident that these refreshed entry requirements will increase the appeal of Jamaica as a destination of choice and help us continue on our path to recovery for the tourism sector and wider economy as a whole.”

“We are continually reviewing our Jamaica Cares program and travel protocols to align with best practices from internationally recognised organisations and ensure that Jamaica retains its position as one of the leading tourism destinations,” noted Donovan White, director of tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board.

“These changes are timed to go into effect as destinations across the globe are enacting similar revisions to their travel requirements.”

The health and safety of every Jamaican and every visitor to the country remains the island’s top priority through its comprehensive Jamaica Cares program.

Jamaica Cares is a nationwide response to Covid-19 that includes a comprehensive health and safety protocols which were among the first to receive the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Safe Travels recognition and allowed the island to safely reopen in June of 2020.

February 28, 2022 – Fully-vaccinated tourists arriving in Dubai will no-longer need to show a negative PCR test as the emirate loosens Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Instead, passengers will only be required to present an approved vaccination certificate, complete with QR code.

However, PCR requirements will remain in place for unvaccinated travellers, who will need to provide a negative PCR test conducted within 48 hours of departure.

Authorities also confirmed the wearing of masks outdoors is now optional in Dubai and throughout the UAE, though it remains mandatory across indoor public spaces.

Restaurants have also returned to 100 per cent capacity for the first time since the start of 2020.

Shisha cafés are also back to 100 per cent capacity, but as per United Arab Emirates’ law, smoking areas must allow space for two square metres per person.

In response to the change, Dubai-based Emirates said passengers flying to the holiday hotspot would now only need proof of vaccination, rather than a negative PCR test.

In Abu Dhabi, the National Emergency Crisis & Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) has removed the green list for travel.

The requirement for a green Al Hosn pass to cross the border between Abu Dhabi and Dubai has also been scrapped.

The pass remains a requirement for those wishing to enter public spaces, such as malls and restaurants.

The news comes as the United Arab Emirates sees a significant decrease in Covid-19 cases combined with high vaccination and booster jab rates.

February 25, 2022 – Taiwan announced plans on to reopen to business travellers and shorten quarantine for all arrivals, slightly loosening restrictions in one of the few places alongside China still pursuing a zero-Covid strategy.A mask mandate and some other restrictions will also be eased from March 1, authorities said.

Taiwan to open borders to travellers in March

The island was hailed for keeping Covid-19 at bay for the first year of the pandemic, but an outbreak detected last April forced Taipei to implement economically painful restrictions. That included banning all foreign visitors, with the exception of a few categories such as residency holders and diplomats, since a surge in local infections last May.

Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Centre (CECC) said that restrictions would ease beginning early March for foreigners coming in for business purposes, including inspection, investment, employment or fulfilling contractual obligations.

“We will open to foreign business people starting March 7 in line with some relaxations in the overall pandemic prevention measures,” said Chen Tsung-yen, deputy head of the CECC. Currently, Chinese, Hong Kong and Macau residents can only apply for entry to fulfil business contracts or due to transferrals within multinational companies.

February  25, 2022 – London City Airport (LCY) is preparing for the return of flights to Milan Linate, as the city-centre hub seizes on pent-up consumer demand to revitalise its short-haul connections.

London City to relaunch Milan Linate connection

ITA Airways, Italy’s flag-carrier, will begin operating a triple-daily service (18 weekly) from LCY to Milan Linate Airport from March 28th.

The move to restart flights follows the European Council’s recommendation that all fully vaccinated British travellers will be allowed into the European Union (EU) without pre-departure tests.

Children aged six to 18 who have not been fully vaccinated will also be allowed to travel into EU countries provided they have a negative pre-departure PCR test.

The route cements tourist and business links between two of Europe’s primary financial hubs.

At its peak in 2018, 360,000 passengers flew between the airports, particularly business travellers from large corporations, including JP Morgan, Barclays and Credit Suisse.

The re-opening of one of London City’s most popular routes is the latest show of confidence in the resilience of its key leisure and business network.

The airport is reinstating 95 per cent of its top-performing pre-pandemic routes.

Barcelona will return to the network for the first time in almost a decade, while new routes, such as Thessaloniki, join established summer favourites like Split, Mykonos and Faro for summer 2022.

London City Airport chief commercial officer, Richard Hill, said: “We’re delighted to announce the return of flights to Milan, which has historically been one of the most popular business and leisure destinations from our airport.

“Our recovery is going from strength to strength, as the sector builds back confidence after a difficult period for aviation and international travel. We’re so excited to be able to help quench passengers’ untapped thirst for travel this summer.”
