Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that the Disney Treasure will have a brand-new theme, unlike anything Disney Cruise Line has done before and that the theme of adventure.

The Grand Hall, he said, will radiate adventure, inviting guests to seek all the treasures on board from the moment they set sail, and will draw on real-world influences from Asia and Africa, as well as pay homage to the far-away land of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic tale, “Aladdin.”

MSC World Europa

MSC World Europa to be christened in Doha ceremony

MSC World Europa

MSC World Europa to be christened in Doha ceremony

September 08, 2022 –

MSC Cruises will christen its new ship MSC World Europa in Doha on 13 November ahead of the vessel’s maiden season in the Middle East.
The 6,774-passenger ship, the first of MSC’s World class series, will inaugurate the Qatari capital’s Grand Cruise Terminal – capable of handling up to 28,000 passengers a day.

MSC World Europa

The ceremony will held in partnership with Qatar Airways as part of Qatar’s Vision 2030 plan to triple its number of international tourists by the start of the next decade.

World Europa will then sail its maiden voyage on 20 December, offering seven-night cruises to Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas Island and Dammam in Saudi Arabia.

From March 2023, the vessel will move to the Mediterranean operating seven-night cruises to Genoa, Naples and Messina, as well as Malta’s capital Valletta, Barcelona and Marseille.

Meanwhile, MSC Opera will also offer seven-night itineraries in the Gulf to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sir Bani Yas – as well as Muscat and Khasab in Oman.
Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chair of MSC Cruises, said: “MSC World Europa represents the future of cruising, a totally new platform that will provide our guests with an unforgettable cruise not experienced anywhere before, so it is fitting that this monumental event will take place in one of the seven new Urban Wonders of the World and inaugurate the city’s magnificent new Grand Cruise Terminal.

“Qatar will continue to play an important role in our strategy to expand our presence in the broader Gulf region as we see greater demand from our guests to visit this culturally rich and yet not fully discovered part of the world. I would like to thank Qatar Airways for its collaborative partnership and strong support in making this event happen.”
Vago said it was “only fitting” World Europa’s “state-of-the-art environmental technologies” were able to be showcased at the new cruise terminal, adding the ship would become the “most environmentally high-performing” vessel to sail the Middle East when it launches.

Akbar Al Baker, chair of Qatar Tourism and chief executive Qatar Airways Group called the naming of World Europa would “another landmark event” as Qatar looked to grow the “important tourism sector” of cruise.

“As Qatar places great importance on sustainability, it is fitting that we host this ceremony for such an environmentally-focused cruise ship. In addition, the opening of the new Grand Cruise Terminal is a state-of-the-art facility that firmly puts Qatar on the map for cruise ships and positions Doha as one of the most modern ports in the world,” he said.

Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages Has New Loyalty Program

Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages Has New Loyalty Program

September 01, 2022 –

Virgin Voyages has plans to launch its loyalty program: The Sailing Club. The line has also unveiled a perks program for the remainder of 2022. Guests who avail of these perks can achieve elite status when the loyalty program launches in 2023.

Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages’ Sailing Club is introducing two perks, exclusively available to loyal qualifying “Sailors,” or guests in 2022. The first perk includes “Deep Blue Extras,” a collection of luxuries that elevate qualifying guests to enjoy VIP treatment. These include one free “Shake for Champagne,” anytime boarding and premium Wi-Fi (when available), exclusive cocktail parties and laundry services. Deep Blue Extras are available for all qualifying guests from September through December 2022.

Virgin Voyages is also introducing “Red Hot Booking Bonus Months.” Valid until November 15, 2022 any new qualifying booking made during these select months (excludes bookings made with existing voyage credits), will allow all qualifying guests to be treated to on-board spending perks and chances to win prizes such as a trip to Ulusaba, Richard Branson’s private game reserve in South Africa, and “Virgin Points” through Virgin Red, the line’s rewards club.
In addition, guests who avail of this perk will earn an extra $200 in “Sailor Loot” (on-board spending credit), which can be combined with all other promotions, offering rewards to loyal guests.

Virgin Voyages will reward past guests with “Tokens” to track all qualifying spend to ensure “Sailors” are positioned for benefits in 2023. All of the money spent with Virgin Voyages since inception will be counted and tallied as Tokens. And as an exclusive perk for all loyal guests, every dollar spent during these “Red Hot Booking Bonus Months”–up to four Tokens per dollar for Sea-Blazers, and three Tokens per dollar for Sea-Rovers–will contribute to an individual’s future status. As the program is unveiled in 2023, these Tokens will fast-track “Sailors” to the highest tiers possible, unlocking even more perks next year.

The 2022 perks will be available to all loyal qualifying “Sailors” defined as Sea-Blazers and Sea-Rovers. Sea-Blazers are those who sailed with Virgin in 2021. Additional perks include a $125 “Bar Tab Bonus” for life. Guests who have sailed with Virgin twice in 2022 are dubbed Sea-Rovers. Perks include a $100 Bar Tab Bonus for two years (valid until 2024). Match & Sea More Sailors, or guests who are enrolled in other cruise and select airline travel rewards programs, will also be granted Sea-Rover status, which includes the $100 Bar Tab Bonus for two years (valid through 2024).

As the final component of the 2022 program, Virgin Voyages is inviting “Sailors” for suggestions on what perks they would like to be offered; how Virgin Voyages can elevate its loyalty program; and what the company can do to make its “Sailing Club” experience stand out.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean unveils line-up of holidays on Spectrum of the Seas for 2023-2024

August 30, 2022 –

Vacationers can set their sights on more ways to explore Asia and make lifelong holiday memories. Royal Caribbean International has released its line-up of holidays on Spectrum of the Seas for 2023-2024, and longer cruises are making a comeback.

Royal Caribbean Spectrum of the Seas

A mix of new 5- to 12-night cruises will whisk adventurers to far-flung destinations in Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam, joining the cruise line’s popular short getaways to Malaysia and Thailand. Next season’s year-round adventures on Asia’s largest and most innovative ship are now open to book.

On a mix of longer cruises that are 5-, 7-, 9- and 12-night itineraries, holidaymakers of all ages are in for memorable adventures and must-see destinations like Bangkok, Thailand; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Manila, Philippines. Royal Caribbean’s crowd favourite 3- and 4-night getaways, first introduced in July, round out the cruise line’s next year-round season. Spectrum will head back to the colourful Penang, Malaysia, and the stunning beach resort of Phuket in Thailand – the perfect fuss-free escapes with little to no planning required for vacationers.

“During Royal Caribbean’s first year-round season in Singapore, we’ve continued to see travellers return for more. Being able to visit international shores again has only increased that demand. People want to cruise with us, and now they can set their sights on new adventures for next year. Today’s holidaymakers seek unique experiences and a fuss-free vacation – they want to have a fun holiday without having to worry about confusing travel requirements and restrictions – and Spectrum of the Seas delivers exactly that. The combination of Asian-themed experiences and signature favourites on board with the opportunities to explore Asia’s energetic cities, traditional architecture and exotic landscapes makes for the perfect way to embark on the revenge travel vacationers are seeking today,” said Angie Stephen, vice president and managing director, Asia-Pacific, Royal Caribbean International.

The upcoming cruises include two 12-night sailings, which mean guests can visit as many as seven destinations across three countries, all in one holiday. These sailings can also be enjoyed back to back, visiting a new destination almost every day for the entire 24-night adventure. Included are 10 destinations unique to this experience, such as Hong Kong; Tokyo, Osaka and Mount Fuji, Japan; and Nha Trang and Hue/Danang, Vietnam.

From many renowned sprawling cities to secret valleys, Asia is packed to the brim with rich cultures and natural beauty. Holidaymakers can embark on off-the-grid exploration on their own or a variety of shore excursions that range from exploring sacred landmarks, such as the 19th-century Long Son Pagoda in Nha Trang, to marvelling at the majesty of Mount Fuji.

Silversea Cruises unveils 2024-2025 voyage collection

Silversea Cruises

Silversea Cruises unveils 2024-2025 voyage collection

August 04, 2022 –

Silversea Cruises has unveiled its new 2024-2025 voyage collection, comprising 341 new sailings that will unlock 695 destinations in 120 countries between March 2024 and May 2025 – bringing the total number of destinations in Silversea’s portfolio to over 900. The expansive offering is the largest in the cruise line’s history, with more options for guests thanks to a 56% increase in capacity by 2024 when compared to 2020. Eleven of Silversea’s ultra-luxury ships will embark upon the new sailings, with additional voyages aboard Silver Endeavour℠to be announced soon. The 2024/2025 voyage collection includes the inaugural season of Silver Ray, which will strengthen Silversea’s commitment to sustainability when she debuts in summer 2024 as the cruise line’s second Nova-class ship. Encompassing all corners of the world, the 2024-2025 itinerary collection includes an unprecedented variety of tailor-made experiences, immersive itineraries, and 25 maiden calls to inspire travellers’ wanderlust.

Silversea Cruises

Unveiling the new voyage collection, Silversea held an exclusive virtual premiere for selected guests and travel advisors on July 28, which incorporated a high-end fashion show. The cruise line challenged six celebrated designers to express the world’s beauty through fashion, with each taking inspiration from the cultures, colours, and tastes of one region represented in the collection. Entitled ‘Colour the World,’ the innovative production was hosted by Fernando Barroso de Oliveira, Silversea’s President’s Ambassador to the Venetian Society, who presided over a catwalk-inspired journey through select destinations of the new collection. The event also featured a Q&A session with Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Barbara Muckermann, Chief Commercial Officer, and Conrad Combrink, SVP Expeditions, Destination and Itinerary Management, who shared their insight with curious guests and travel advisors.

“Our new voyage collection for summer 2024 and winter 2024/2025 reflects our guests’ desire for new and unique experiences in the most iconic and remote destinations around the world,” said Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Silversea Cruises. “Our new collection features 11 ships in our fleet – including Silver Ray,the second ship in our Nova class – with an increase in capacity of 56% by 2024 when compared to 2020; this will enable our guests to enjoy unprecedented choice in terms of ships and voyage options. Not only will these 341 new sailings immerse travellers deep into each destination, enabling even the most experienced travellers to discover lesser-visited destinations or venture off-season to rediscover the world from a new perspective, but they will also further expand Silversea’s global reach. We also look forward to revealing new itineraries for Silver Endeavour, the most luxurious ship in expedition cruising, which will further diversify our industry-leading polar offering.”

“In an industry first, we decided to reveal our new 2024/2025 itinerary collection with an exclusive fashion show,” said Barbara Muckermann, Chief Commercial Officer, Silversea Cruises. “Not unlike haute couture, in which designers create exceptional collections that excite and inspire, we chose to colour the world this year, unveiling our new itineraries by pairing featured regions with the unique interpretations of six celebrated designers to showcase the world’s rich cultures, colours, and tastes. There are parallels between travel and fashion: both encourage a deep respect for diversity, an appreciation for different cultures, and an element of self-enrichment. I am proud of the powerful message that we have conveyed, and I hope our guests find inspiration for the experiences that await.”

“Silversea has increased its industry-leading range of experiences with the launch of its largest itinerary collection to date for 2024/2025,” said Conrad Combrink, SVP Expeditions, Destination and Itinerary Management, Silversea Cruises. “With 341 itineraries unlocking both Polar Regions, the South Pacific, Africa and the Indian Ocean, the Galapagos, and so much more, Silversea has once again demonstrated its destination leadership, immersing curious travellers into the world in a way that only we can.”

Costa Venezia departs from Istanbul with new cruises

Costa Venezia

Costa Venezia departs from Istanbul with new cruises.

May 2, 2022 – The itineraries, which include “flight + cruise” from Istanbul, are an absolute novelty in the world of organized holidays, the result of the collaboration between Costa Cruises, the Turkish National Tourist Board, Turkish Airlines and Galataport.

Costa Venezia’s new cruises to Turkey and Greece will make their debut from Istanbul on May 1. This is an absolute novelty in the current panorama of organized holidays, which marks the collaboration between Costa Cruises, Turkish Airlines, the Turkish National Tourist Board and Galataport Istanbul.

The proposed formula is the “flight+cruise” package, available from all the main European countries, with scheduled Turkish Airlines flights, which will make it possible to reach Istanbul easily, and then embark on board of Costa Venezia from the new Galataport cruise terminal, equipped with all the comforts and services for the next generation of ships.

“Our restart program ahead of summer is strengthened by a truly unique offer. The main new feature of Costa Venezia cruises is the possibility of visiting the best of Turkey in a single holiday, starting from Istanbul, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We believe Turkey has great potential for cruises, and we are trying to be the first to develop it. Istanbul can be reached from the main European countries in just a few hours’ flight time, it has good air connections and modern ports, as well as a mild climate that makes it possible to operate all year round, and above all it offers an incredible variety of experiences and attractions” – said Mario Zanetti, President of Costa Cruises.

Costa Venezia’s program in Turkey includes three different itineraries, all with embarkation and disembarkation in Istanbul, designed to include longer calls in the ports to enjoy the destinations with plenty of time, among cities rich in history, splendid archaeological and UNESCO World Heritage sites and crystal clear seas.

In spring, summer and autumn, from 1 May to 13 November 2022, Costa Venezia will offer two one-week itineraries dedicated to Turkey and Greece, interchanging with each other, which can be combined into a single 15-day “super tour”, with 8 calls in port longer than 10 hours.

Costa Venezia

The first itinerary is ideal for those who want to explore the best of Turkey and Greece in one holiday. It includes a two-day, one-night call in Istanbul, the beautiful Turkish destinations of Izmir and Bodrum, the island of Mykonos and Athens in Greece.

The second itinerary allows to explore some of Greece’s out-of-the-ordinary locations and the best of Turkey. It includes two two-day, one-night calls in Istanbul and Kusadasi, Turkey, before heading off to explore Rhodes and Heraklion, Greece.

In winter 2022-23, Costa Venezia will be offering a third 12-day itinerary to Turkey, Egypt, Israel and Cyprus, visiting Istanbul (with a two-day, one-night call), Bodrum, Limassol, Haifa (also with a two-day, one-night call), Alexandria and Kusadasi. From spring 2023, the two itineraries in Turkey and Greece will resume.

The range of excursions available has been redesigned to explore hidden and little-visited places, and to enjoy the most authentic traditions, flavors and colors. Thanks to these offers it is possible, for example, to attend a private concert in a Roman amphitheater in Ephesus; to experience Istanbul by night; to take a cruise on the Bosphorus, between the two continents; to sleep in the typical houses dug out of the rock in the lunar landscapes of Cappadocia; to relax in the natural pools of Pamukkale; to snorkel among the sunken remains of the city of Mindo, together with an archaeologist. And again, to take a walk through the vineyards of Kusadasi with a wine expert; to go horseback riding through the pine forests and sand of Pamucak beach; to explore the coast of the Bodrum peninsula on a private caique; to discover the secrets of the Acropolis in Athens or relax in the sun on the beautiful beaches of Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete.

Costa Venezia, built at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, is a 135,000-ton ship with 2,116 guest cabins. With 13 different restaurants and 8 bars, the gastronomic offer is among the widest in the fleet. On board it is possible to taste food dishes and menus specifically created for Costa by three world-renowned chefs, Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze and Ángel León, that will allow to explore every destination through food. There are many different wide outdoor spaces to fully enjoy the sailing experience. Families with children will find many activities on board, such as a water park and an adventure park, and couples will find a private spa, swimming pools and plenty of space for intimate moments.

Norwegian Bliss launches Alaskan cruise season

April 26, 2022 –

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has kicked off its 2022 Alaskan cruise season with Norwegian Bliss from Port of Seattle. This is the first ship to visit Alaska this season, as well as the first of five the group’s vessels to cruise the Last Frontier through October 2022.

Alaskan cruise season

The vessel will provide travellers with immersive experiences through Southeast Alaska, visiting natural wonders including the passage through the 25-million-acre World Heritage Site, Glacier Bay National Park. NCL was granted access to this natural wonder due to the company’s environmental commitments focused on air emissions, waste and wildlife protection. Other once-in-a-lifetime sites guests may visit include the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, which lies nearly 12 miles outside Juneau, Alaska and the Misty Fiords National Monument near Ketchikan, Alaska, a glacier-carved wilderness featuring snowcapped mountains and waterfalls.

NCL has a long history of cruising from Seattle to Alaska, having pioneered the route in 2001. The company is deeply committed to the region working with destination partners in Seattle and Alaska to drive immersive and responsible tourism. In conjunction with Port of Seattle, NCL Holdings, NCL’s parent company, invested $30 million to upgrade Pier 66, the renowned site where Norwegian Bliss was christened in 2018. The dual investment expanded the check-in area by 300 percent to more than 150,000 square feet. It also expanded two new passenger boarding bridges to provide a more comfortable and efficient embarkation process.

Harry Sommer, President and Chief Executive Officer, Norwegian Cruise Line said: “We have nearly three decades of history cruising Alaska, pioneering voyages to the Last Frontier from Seattle more than 22 years ago and christened the largest cruise ship in Seattle in 2018 with the debut of Norwegian Bliss. We could not be any prouder to return to our ‘second home’ and jumpstart the 2022 Alaska season with one of our most innovative ships and provide unforgettable guest experiences with some of the world’s most bucket list destinations.” Alaskan cruise season

Driving economic support in Alaska, the company partnered with and invested in Ward Cove Dock Group, transforming land, formerly designated as a superfund cleanup, or contaminated land, by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), into a sustainable, environmentally friendly and entertaining site for the community and cruise visitors.

Norwegian Cruise Line won ‘World’s Leading Cruise Line’ at World Travel Awards 2021

Through a partnership with the Alaska Native-owned Huna Totem Corporation, The company was able to complete a second cruise pier at Icy Strait Point, as well as expand the destination’s Wilderness Landing. Enhancements featured upgraded retail, and restaurants, as well as shore excursion offerings, including the world’s largest ZipRider zip line, and experiences highlighting the culture of the native Huna Tlingit people.

In 2021, as part of NCL’s Great Cruise Comeback to celebrate the restart of its operations, the brand restarted its U.S. voyages from Seattle to Alaska making its first call to Icy Strait Point and also officially welcoming the opening of the new Wilderness Landing pier and the first of two gondola systems to be completed as part of the joint investment between NCLH and Huna Totem.
