June 23, 2022 –   IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, is proud to announce the signing of InterContinental Penang Resort, in partnership with THR Hotel (Penang) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of a leading Malaysian hotel owner, Tradewinds Corporation Berhad (Tradewinds Corp).

The collaboration will see IHG grow its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Malaysia by transforming the former Penang Mutiara Beach Resort at Teluk Bahang into an IHG-branded luxury beach resort. Truly nostalgic and immersive, the resort will create a haven for couples and families whilst redefining luxury beach tourism for Penang.

Opening in 2025, InterContinental Penang Resort will welcome guests to Penang’s Glowing Bay in Teluk Bahang, where they can relax in a tropical beach sanctuary amidst biodiverse flora and fauna. With the Teluk Bahang Fishing Village, Penang National Park and the Penang Tropical Spice Garden as its immediate neighbours, guests will also enjoy unobstructed views of the Malacca Straits featuring white sand beaches, clear emerald waters and a backdrop of lush mountainous forests for an unforgettable experience.

A 30-minute drive from central Georgetown, InterContinental Penang Resort will feature 355 rooms and suites, up to three bedrooms, and a private enclave of six villas for guests seeking a truly immersive stay amongst nature. The stay experience is complemented by a holistic wellness village which will house 10 treatment villas, a yoga studio, and a relaxation pavilion, all within a development surrounded by stunning Angsana trees that will be delicately preserved and protected during the construction process.

The hotel will attract a wide range of guests, from families and “bleisure” travellers to those attending weddings and events. Facilities include three swimming pools (including a kids pool), five restaurants and bars, 1,000 square metres of meeting and event space (including a glass marquee and private lawn for garden weddings and special occasions), and the brand’s world-renowned Club InterContinental Lounge offering views of the Straits of Malacca.

The inclusion of a holistic wellness component within the resort is perfectly aligned with the growing wellness travel trend1. Having experienced long periods of isolation, travellers are re-evaluating their personal priorities and favouring destinations offering opportunities to improve their physical, mental, and spiritual health. According to a Wellness Tourism Industry statistic, the global wellness tourism market is expected to surpass US$900 billion by 2022.

InterContinental Penang Resort will be the second InterContinental hotel in Malaysia (after InterContinental Kuala Lumpur), and will bring IHG back to Penang, together with the upcoming Holiday Inn & Suites Penang Prai.

In Malaysia, IHG currently has six hotels across three brands – InterContinental, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. IHG® Hotels & Resorts (IHG®), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, today announces a debut signing for its leading luxury InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand in Uzbekistan. Intercontinental Tashkent is expected to open towards the end of 2022, showcasing a new modern luxury experience within the capital city. This latest signing follows IHG’s recent growth announcement, which will see 50 new hotels added to the global Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio in 2022.

Enjoying a central location, the newly built hotel will comprise of 216 rooms including 40 signature suites, of which two will be Presidential Suites, with stunning city views as well as expert wellness facilities and delectable dining offers.

Intercontinental Tashkent is being developed in partnership with UzTur Investment and Development as part of the all-new Trilliant Business Park development complex, which comprises Intercontinental Tashkent, state-of-the-art offices, high-end retail space and a landscaped park, consciously designed over three towers, and a convention centre.

As a cornerstone of the Trilliant development, Intercontinental Tashkent will play an important role in delivering luxury experiences in a more sustainable way, being the first example of a LEED Gold Certified project in Uzbekistan. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is a globally recognised symbol of sustainability, achievement, and leadership, awarded to construction projects being developed in accordance with a framework outlining criteria for efficient and sustainable ventures.

When completed, InterContinental Tashkent will meet growing demand from consumers for more conscious travel, through the provision of electric charging points for cars, sustainable landscaping, and thoughtful details to minimise its environmental impact. This approach aligns with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow, furthering the company’s commitment to sustainable growth.

InterContinental Tashkent brings InterContinental, the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand, to a key new city-centre location. The state-of-the-art hotel will transform Tashkent’s skyline as one of the most striking modern buildings within the city’s heartland. Stretching 94 metres above sea-level, InterContinental Tashkent’s exterior will be a glamourous example of artistic architecture, designed with the modern luxury traveller in mind.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Ember, is set to become one of the most lauded eateries in the region, serving fire-grilled steaks, sushi and shellfish. Ember bar will feature a landscaped garden with a whisky library, cocktail menu and panoramic skyline views. Other dining options include No’mad, an all-day dining space specialising in Central Asian produce with an open kitchen and bar, and Chach, a lounge area with a patisserie, serving coffee and sharing plates.

The hotel’s Convention Centre will boast over 2,500 sq m of space – ideal for conferences, luxurious weddings and smaller-scale meetings – with a ballroom, 10 meeting rooms and four VIP suites with sweeping city views.

Intercontinental Tashkent will also lead the way for the city’s wellness and lifestyle offerings with a superior spa and wellness club located on the first floor. Facilities will include a 150 sq m swimming pool, treatment rooms, Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam, split-level gym, large roof terrace and a pool bar serving smoothies and a grazing menu.

An urban retreat

The hotel is home to 219 guest rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows providing views over the skyline and River Main. The hotel commissioned one of the most famous painters in Germany, Hartwig Ebersbach, to create 230 paintings for the property.

During their stay, guests can dine at the first-floor restaurant Max on One offering modern French cuisine with an Asian twist and head to Ember Bar & Lounge for cocktails and champagne. The hotel produces its own honey from beehives on the rooftop.

Wellness facilities within the property include a fitness centre and The Spa by JW home to an indoor pool, spa and sauna. The overall hospitality experience is designed with guests’ well-being in mind.

The property is connected to the Zeil shopping area, moments from the heart of Frankfurt and a 15-minute drive from Frankfurt International Airport.

Hilton has announced the signing of an agreement with Mitsubishi Estate Co to open Conrad Nagoya in the summer of 2026. The hotel will be part of a multi-company* mixed-use development, located in Nagoya’s central business district of Sakae, Aichi Prefecture.

Situated alongside four main thoroughfares of the city center, Conrad Nagoya will span 13 stories of a new 41-story mixed-use building complex housing commercial facilities, a multiplex cinema, and offices in addition to the hotel. Travelers will enjoy convenient access to the Chubu Centrair International Airport, approximately 50 kilometers away, as well as key business districts with the building directly connected to Sakae Subway Station. For tourists looking to explore Nagoya at leisure, the hotel is located near attractions such as Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Art Museum, Atsuta Shrine, Nagoya Noh Theater, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, and Osu shopping district.

Located beside two of Costa Rica’s most prized natural jewels—Corcovado National Park and the Pacific Ocean’s Golfo Dulce—Botánika Osa Peninsula is in perfect harmony with nature, set across 21 acres of lush flora and fauna. The resort provides travelers an unspoiled rainforest escape with well-appointed residence accommodations, upscale dining outlets, a 100-seat event space, along with rainforest-inspired experiences at the resort’s Clubhouse, neighboring Crocodile Bay Marina and the new Botánika Science and Nature Center. Activity guides curate unforgettable recreation experiences and excursions throughout the Osa Peninsula. Guests traveling by air will arrive at Puerto Jiménez Airport, just minutes from the resort. Botánika Osa Peninsula’s location also allows for daily arrivals by water via the Golfo Dulce.

The resort features contemporary architecture by Gensler and Modus Operandi that perfectly coexists with the environment. The interior design, by Francisco Jove of Modus Operandi, evokes a refined sense of place where the lines between outdoor and indoor blur throughout the public spaces and guest accommodations, featuring wide verandas, expansive glass walls and indigenous landscaping.

The resort is opening with 44 rainforest residences, available in studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, modern kitchenettes or full kitchens with high-end appliances, oversized terraces, and a private rooftop lounge for nature viewing and stargasing. Each spacious suite has a bright color palette and biophilic aesthetic that complements the lush rainforest landscape. In 2023, Botánika Osa Peninsula will have a total of 123 rainforest residences.

The resort staff will meet guests at the airport where they will accompany them on a short shuttle ride to the resort, arriving at the Clubhouse – the heart of the resort, located at the property entrance. From there, guests are ushered into the lobby and greeted with a refreshing beverage. The Clubhouse space is complete with a reception area, concierge desk, outdoor seating and a courtyard terrace. The Clubhouse also houses the resort’s signature restaurant, lounge, wine bar, and a 2,600 square foot state-of-the-art fitness center, as well as unique gardens where guests can see wildlife such as monkeys, hummingbirds and flora like orchids and bamboo.

Executive Chef Jose Tizado leads the resort’s four culinary outlets. His elevated menus feature sustainable ingredients sourced from regional purveyors and the resort gardens. Tierra a la Mesa, the resort’s signature restaurant, serves daily breakfast and dinner and offers indoor and alfresco seating. Its menus showcase the bounty of local farmers and fishers. Guests can look forward to trying dishes like the Tomahawk steak or freshly caught Mahi Mahi prepared in a custom charcoal barbecue grill using traditional Costa Rican cooking techniques. Becra is a more casual dining option and the perfect place to have a quick bite in between excursions or enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. Driza, the resort’s poolside cocktail lounge, is open for lunch and happy hour and features live musical performances by local artists. Wine bar Babanca provides a perfect environment for VIP tasting experiences and small events.

Surrounded by indigenous gardens and flanked by poolside cabanas and two Jacuzzis, the lagoon-style swimming pool offers an ideal environment for a tranquil dip. Fitness devotees will enjoy the state-of-the-art fitness center, which features a stretching area, weight training equipment, cable training gear, advanced cardio machines and HIIT training. Guests can cool down on various walking trails that meander through the resort’s gardens.

A forthcoming spa with restorative therapies that target the mind, body and spirit is set to open in 2023. The menu will feature customised treatments inspired by the rainforest and surrounding botanicals, from hot stone massages to chocolate wraps and coffee scrubs. Rooftop yoga will also be offered for guests.

The Osa Peninsula, dubbed “the most biologically intense place on Earth” by National Geographic, is a remote destination. Botánika Osa Peninsula offers guests the chance to discover the region’s rich wildlife, national parks, forest reserves and protected beaches with its guided land and sea eco-adventures.

The Botánika Science and Nature Center hosts visiting scientists from major universities, including Stanford University, the Billfish Research Laboratory at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, and the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. The scientists educate guests about the local fauna and lead excursions to tag fish, dolphins and sharks for research. Botánika has also partnered with the non-profit foundation BioSur to host the largest insect museum in southern Costa Rica with over 6,000 species of endemic butterflies, beetles and moths. The collection is so expansive that it has been designated a National Heritage Site by Costa Rica.

Those who want to take in the rainforest’s incredible wildlife can enjoy overnight and day hikes through the tropical lowland, take a guided zip-line tour of the rainforest, or embark on bird and monkey watching tours. One of the most coveted hiking destinations in the world, Corcovado National Park is in close proximity to the resort, perfect for a full day adventure for guests to experience the impressive wildlife and forest. Guests interested in marine life can adventure on an ocean safari and explore the waters of the Golfo Dulce while spotting humpback whales, whale sharks and dolphins. Gulfo Dulce is one of only four tropical fjords in the world and is rich with volcanic reefs, crevices and caves that boast a staggering variety of marine life.

To help preserve the region’s rich ecosystem for future travelers, the resort partners with Surcos Tour on beach cleanup efforts in the community and supports the non-profit BioSur foundation in efforts to rescue endangered wildlife. In addition to rescuing, the resort also works to educate guests and the local community on the dangers of disrupting any animals but specifically poaching sea turtle eggs through a local Sea Turtle Conservation project. Botánika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton also serves as a community recycling hub, with team members dedicating their own time and vehicles to travel to the nearest recycling center nearly 30 miles away.

Botánika guests enjoy access to Crocodile Bay Marina’s famous world-class sportfishing excursions, complete with local expert guides and best-in-class equipment. A focus of the property, the hotel’s signature restaurant will showcase the design of renowned Californian architecture and design group, Studio PCH, which has led the design of several Nobu sites.

The launch of this hotel and restaurant will bring the brand’s Europe portfolio to 11 properties.

Hilton has announced plans to open one of the world’s largest Hampton by Hilton hotels in Vienna. Following a franchise agreement with partner Primestar Hospitality, the new development is scheduled to open in autumn 2024.

As part of a EUR40 million new development, Hampton by Hilton Vienna City West’s 358 guest rooms will be constructed under Hampton by Hilton’s modern design, featuring contemporary furnishings and signature bedding. The medieval Medina of Sfax which dates back to the 9th century AD is unique and rare because it has maintained intact its original Arab-Muslim town plan as well as Arabic, Roman, and Ottoman elements which were added over the centuries.

Radisson Tunisia Sfax offers 88 bright, contemporary rooms and suites, all with views of the city. The hotel will be the first and only internationally branded upscale hotel in the city, catering to growing government, corporate, and MICE demand in the local and wider areas with seven fully equipped meeting rooms and a separate breakout area.

Radisson Hotel Sfax’s two dining venues, La Medina and Younga Sky, offer a range of cuisines, from traditional Tunisian fare to European and Oriental favorites. Located in the Riva degli Schiavoni region of Venice along the Grand Canal, adjacent to Piazza San Marco, the Hotel consists of three buildings: the 14th century Palazzo Dandolo and two 19th century additions linked by bridges – Palazzo Casa Nuova and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior. Hotel Danieli’s rich heritage is on display throughout the property, showcased in the beautifully preserved Venetian Gothic style architecture, along with art and antiques from throughout the property’s history.

Guests will be immersed in the splendour of the property from the moment their stay begins, enjoying unique arrival experience on boat via the Grand Canal. Guest rooms feature exceptional views of the Grand Canal, surrounding city and Venice’s Bay. The property also features four restaurant and bar outlets, which also benefit from exquisite views, as well as seven meeting and event spaces.

The Hotel will undergo extensive renovations prior to reopening as a Four Seasons experience, with renowned designer Pierre-Yves Rochon overseeing the interiors. Rochon has worked on several other historic Four Seasons properties in Europe, including in Florence, Paris, Cap-Ferrat and Megève. During the renovation period, the property will remain open with select services and amenities available. During this time, the hotel will be operated and managed by Gruppo Statuto under the name The Hotel Danieli, Venezia.

Upon reopening as a Four Seasons experience in 2025, Hotel Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel, will join Four Seasons growing collection of properties in Italy, including Four Seasons Hotel Milano, which recently underwent extensive renovations of its common areas; Four Seasons Hotel Firenze; San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel; and an upcoming resort in Puglia.

Cannes will soon be home to the new Canopy by Hilton Cannes, with 143 guest rooms in central Cannes, a short walk from the city’s beaches, Old Port and the renown Palais des Festivals. The hotel is expected to welcome its first guests in 2023 and marks Hilton’s first property in Cannes.

The hotel is comprised of a mixture of guest rooms and suites, with most featuring balconies and sea views of the French Riviera. Led by acclaimed designer Ramy Fischler, the hotel’s design aesthetic takes inspiration from the soft glamour of Cannes, with organic tones used throughout to reference the tree-lined boulevards and enduring beauty of Provencal architecture.
