June 01 2022 –

Radisson Hotel Group is proud to announce the opening of the Barcelona Radisson Blu Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia, which marks another step forward in Radisson Hotel Group’s plans to expand in Spain and continue strengthening its presence in the country.

Barcelona Radisson Blu hotel

A mere 450 meters away from the Sagrada Familia, the most-visited monument in Spain, the renovated Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia is now ready to welcome guests to its enviable location in the Gràcia district. This hotel’s location provides excellent connections to the city center, Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça de Catalunya. It is also just two kilometers away from Parc Güell, another very popular tourist attraction bearing Antoni Gaudí’s unmistakable imprint.

Barcelona Radisson Blu Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia has 182 rooms, which include standard, superior, premium, premium deluxe, and family rooms. The rooftop, El Cel Bar terrace and pool are the perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings. It offers spectacular views of the city’s skyline and extraordinary views of the Sagrada Familia and Antoni Gaudí’s fascinating architecture.

The philosophy of Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia, is to offer sustainable, balanced, and healthy gastronomy across its four restaurants and bars, including Restaurant El Bosc, El Bosc Terrace Bar, Bobò Bar, and El Cel Bar. Guests wishing to maintain their exercise regime are catered for thanks to the hotel’s fitness center.

“It’s a privilege to introduce the Radisson Blu brand to Barcelona, one of the world’s most vibrant cities. The hotel’s unbelievable location with panoramic views from its rooftop terrace make this hotel a unique place to stay and explore the city. It’s a modern hotel with lots of style and a cozy and cosmopolitan feel,” says Tom Flanagan Karttunen, Area Senior Vice President Northern & Western Europe, Radisson Hotel Group.

As Barcelona is one of Spain’s major business centers, this new hotel has 120 square meters of corporate meeting and event space with the capacity to host up to 120 people, as well as 64 underground parking spaces for guests.

The Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia has also earned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification as a Gold Green Building, a factor that makes it the perfect option for the environmentally conscious traveler. The hotel is home to more than 4000 plants, including an 80m² vertical ecosystem of more than 3000 plants in the El Bosc Terrace Bar that can filter 10kg of dust per year and generate oxygen for 80 people. Furthermore, the hotel has Biosphere certification and a dedicated CSR neighborhood project commitment.

The interiors of the common areas in the Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia were created by renowned interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. Urban in style, its design has a contemporary aesthetic featuring special designer pieces with a more modern flair. Rosa-Violán envisioned creating a cozy and comfortable environment for guests with natural leather upholstery and high-pile rugs, which were accented by lush leafy greenery, bringing the outdoors indoors, which is a signature design element of Rosa-Violán. The color palette highlights the shades used in the some of the furniture upholstery as well as the colors used at certain points in the decorative elements. Likewise, the hotel’s interior design concept also showcases other more striking pieces, giving them an almost monumental air, which allows them to stand out in the overall decorating scheme.

Lázaro Rosa-Violán shares, “It has been an honor to collaborate on a project like this, located in such a unique area of Barcelona near the city’s most iconic monument, the Sagrada Familia, which can be admired from the hotel’s rooftop terrace, and which has also earned Gold level LEED certification for sustainability.”

With the health and safety of guests and team members as its top priority, Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia is implementing the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol program. The in-depth cleanliness and disinfection protocols were developed in partnership with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, and are designed to ensure guest safety and peace of mind from check-in to check-out.

Welcome back to paradise: InterContinental Danang Sun Vietnam

Welcome back to paradise: InterContinental Danang Sun Vietnam

Welcome back to paradise: InterContinental Danang Sun Vietnam

May 27 2022 –

Following the reopening of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, travellers can one of the world’s great hospitality jewels. Nestled in nature on the Son Tra Peninsula, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort offers the pinnacle of Vietnamese five-star hospitality in a paradise setting.

InterContinental Danang Sun Vietnam

The incredbile InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was named ‘World’s Leading Green Resort 2021’ by World Travel Awards.

Nestled in 39 hectares of nature on the unspoiled Son Tra Peninsula, overlooking the ocean, this breath-taking resort is spread across four levels – Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea – all linked by a funicular railway that rises up the forested hillside. Stay in spacious sea-facing rooms, suites and pool villas, dine at Michelin-rated restaurants, experience immersive activities or simply unwind on the 700-metre-long beach. Pure bliss!

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is a riot of colour, unconventional design and a healthy splash of whimsy, where traditional Vietnamese design is complemented by a bold colour palette of black and white with splashes of lemon yellow, acid green and sunset orange.

Wherever you go you’re likely to see something that stops you in your tracks, whether it’s the delicate curve of a silk lantern, a giant pen-and-ink bird portrait, striking geometric floor tiles, or a statue of the Ky-Lan, a mythical creature that’s half-dragon, half-dog.

Famed architect Bill Bensley has woven his magic throughout every space, crafting a resort that inhabits four levels – Heaven, Sky, Earth, and Sea – linked by a funicular train, the Nam Tram, which climbs its way through the forested slopes.

The resort’s gardens blend seamlessly with the surrounding rainforest. When the property was built, concerted efforts were made to preserve the natural integrity of the site, avoiding the removal or cutting of trees and ensuring that the Resort enjoys a position nestled into the heart of its lush, green surroundings. A team of over 100 landscapers and gardeners work to maintain the Palm Grove on the beach, to ensure that the resort’s flowering trees and shrubs are healthy, and to keep the organic garden well-tended, especially important as the source of many of the herbs and vegetables used in the kitchens.

Whichever spectacular Southeast Asian destination guests choose to visit, they are assured of a warm welcome. Following successive holiday seasons when the global pandemic significantly impacted international travel, Thailand and Vietnam are now greeting overseas guests with their famously warm and heartfelt hospitality.

W Hotels Italy portfolio debut Milan and Naples

May 26 2022 –

Marriott International has signed agreements to debut two further W Hotels in Italy with W Milan Duomo and W Naples. Both hotels are slated to welcome guests in 2024, further expanding the brand’s footprint in the country, following the recent opening of W Rome and the signing of W Florence in 2021.

W Hotels Italy portfolio

“We are thrilled to announce the signing of W Milan – Duomo with Gruppo Marseglia and W Naples with Solido S.p.A. The spirited cities of Milan and Naples have long been a destination of choice for global jetsetters, and we’re delighted to answer to the growing demand for luxury lifestyle hotels with these two significant signings,” said Gianleo Bosticco, Senior Director Development, Italy, Marriott International.

W Hotels Check into Italy’s Fashion Capital
W Milan – Duomo will bring the brand’s magnetic energy and distinctive design to the heart of Milan’s Fashion District. Situated in a prime location, W Milan – Duomo will be within walking distance of the city’s cultural landmarks including Piazza del Duomo, Teatro alla Scala and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Milan’s vibrant and iconic shopping street, Via Montenapoleone, is just a three-minute walk from the hotel.

First built as a bank in the 1920s, W Milan – Duomo will blend Milan’s classic grandeur with W’s bold branding and innovative programming. Led by Milan-based architects Stefano Boeri Architetti and international design firm Yabu Pushelberg, the hotel is expected to feature 166 guestrooms and 36 suites, including an Extreme WOW Suite.

Design plans for the hotel’s rooftop include the brand’s signature WET deck, offering spectacular views of the Duomo di Milano. The vistas continue with plans for an exclusive rooftop bar, W Lounge, and a signature restaurant; all complete with outdoor terraces and positioned to offer panoramic views of the city and the perfect aperitivo. Inspiring workout spaces are expected to include a 380-square-metre AWAY Spa, complete with an indoor pool and FIT fitness centre. Guests will also have access to the W brand’s iconic Whatever/Whenever® service.

“We are delighted to work with Marriott International on this exciting project, which will become a new point of reference in Milan for luxury lifestyle under the socially driven W brand. W Milan – Duomo will be an icon in the city for years to come,” said Leonardo Marseglia, Chairman of Marseglia Group.

The Majestic Bay of Naples Meets W Hotels Vibrant Energy
W Naples is set to become a buzzing centerpiece in the heart of the historical Piazza del Municipio square. The charming building, also formerly a bank, will receive a multi-million-pound renovation, with the historic façade remaining untouched playing homage to its historic past.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula Croatia- more than 30 million it cost to reposition the legendary Hotel Brion

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

May 24, 2022 – First Radisson Collection hotel on the Adriatic coast opens in Pula, Croatia

Radisson Hotel Group is proud to announce the debut of its luxury lifestyle Radisson Collection brand in Croatia, with the opening of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel. This follows an extensive £30 million repositioning of the legendary Hotel Brioni, one of Croatia’s best-known hotels, by Radisson Hotel Group’s partner PPHE Hotel Group and its Croatian subsidiary Arena Hospitality Group.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

Pula is home to Istria’s main international airport and serves many holidaymakers each year as the starting point for their travels. It is a popular leisure destination steeped in Roman history, and provides easy access to the most historic sites, pristine nature and an outstanding coastline. The Grand Hotel Brioni Pula occupies a dramatic cliff-side location on the Adriatic, overlooking the Brijuni islands, which were the inspiration for the hotel’s name. It offers 227 rooms, infinity swimming pools, multiple restaurants and bars and sumptuous health and wellness facilities.

Originally built in the 1970s, the hotel was one of the most prominent tourist meccas in former Yugoslavia. In its heydays, with direct flights from the United States to Pula in the 70s, it was often a getaway for many celebrities, including artists, film stars and politicians. The 14 islets of Brijuni are the epitome of tranquility and exclusivity.

The interiors, designed by Studio 92 have the “wow” factor and will take your breath away. Throughout, the hotel features art by renowned Croatian artists, connecting the heritage of this iconic hotel with the modernity of today, and taking in the striking colors of the surrounding area. The interior design is enriched with Mediterranean materials and colors with Italian and Croatian stone including Botticino Classico, Grigio Amani, Kirmenjak and Kanfanar.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel features several restaurants and bars. With the freshness of ingredients at the heart of local Mediterranean cuisine, and paying significant attention to quality and provenance, all ingredients are sourced locally from trusted producers and artisans selected by our talented team of chefs. Restaurant Brioni Forum serves international specialties with an emphasis on local recipes, always insisting on fresh, local produce, such as truffles which are an integral part of the food history of Croatia’s most famous gastronomic region. Meanwhile, the beach restaurant Brioni Lungo Mare offers a choice of Mediterranean meat and seafood specialties for a lighter meal. Guests can also enjoy Restaurant Sofia, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.

“The opening of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel is a tremendous achievement for us, as we introduce our luxury lifestyle brand to this culturally rich city and region, the first on the Adriatic coast and our first in partnership with PPHE Hotel Group. Radisson Collection properties embrace and represent the local culture and design wherever they are located, and this is true here at Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel. Guests will be able to discover Croatian art, dine in one of the many restaurants and take in all that the Istrian Peninsula has to offer.” says Elie Younes, Global Chief Development Officer of Radisson Hotel Group.

Reli Slonim, President of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of Arena Hospitality Group, adds: ‘”We are excited to have our Grand Hotel Brioni Pula join the Radisson Collection brand, which represents Radisson Hotel Group’s finest hotels around the world. Our two-year repositioning programme of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula has been completed and has resulted in a true luxury experience in one of Istria’s most spectacular locations. This premium redevelopment paves the way for our other two premium hotel openings planned for Croatia in Zagreb (2022) and Pula (2023).”

The Wellness Centre, Gemma di Brioni, is the crowning glory of the hotel. It extends over two floors, with an indoor pool and whirlpool, three saunas and six treatment rooms. In addition to a 25 meter-long indoor pool, there is a 60 meter-long outdoor infinity pool with spectacular views of the ocean. In the fitness area and gym, guests can enjoy the availability of top-of-the-range Technogym equipment.

Digital technologies are an integral part of the hotel experience and guests are encouraged to use their mobile devices to access all of the hotel’s extensive services. These include opening guest rooms using a mobile digital key, the control of air-conditioning and lights via a smartphone, and the in-room TV. Even before stepping inside the hotel, guests can check-in online and head straight to their room.

With the health and safety of guests and team members as its top priority, Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel is implementing the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol program. The in-depth cleanliness and disinfection protocols were developed in partnership with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, and are designed to ensure guest safety and peace of mind from check-in to check-out. The Safety Protocol is an integral part of Radisson Hotel Group’s Safety and Security program ensuring we always care for our guests and team members.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair set for winter opening

May 23, 2022 –

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is expanding its presence in London with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London this winter. Sitting on historic Hanover Square, in the heart of London’s most stylish neighbourhoods, where fashion, media, art, and business intersect, the new property is a discreet, sleek and intimate sister property to the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

The property comprises 50 guestrooms and 78 private residences, offering hotel guests and residents an oasis of calm and Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service alongside a vibrant atmosphere in the public spaces. It will house the first namesake Akira Back restaurant in the UK from Michelin Star award winning Chef Akira Back, as well as his ‘ABar Lounge’ concept.  There will also be an urban spa, focussed on renewal and recalibration.

“We are incredibly excited to open a Mandarin Oriental hotel in the heart of such an iconic location. Mayfair has such a rich history and pedigree within luxury, fashion and art and is continually evolving. This is a wonderful parallel for our new property, which will introduce delightful touches for which Mandarin Oriental is loved, but in a more intimate and informal setting. We feel that our warm, club-like atmosphere, which flows throughout the hotel, is set to make Mandarin Oriental Mayfair a new destination of choice in the area,” says Susanne Hatje who joins as General Manager direct from the iconic Mandarin Oriental, New York.

Design and Interiors
Designed by internationally renowned Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (the talent behind the Lloyd’s building and the ‘Cheesegrater’ in London, as well as the Pompidou Centre in Paris), the building’s design has a rich historic context, given its location on the corner of Mayfair’s oldest square.

A strong sense of place has inspired the interior design of the hotel’s public spaces, created by Tokyo based studio, Curiosity, who have based their concept on ‘a hub of nature and art’. As an homage to the hotel’s cultural and creative neighbours, artworks by local British artists feature throughout the hotel with one-off furniture pieces curated by Curiosity’s founder, Gwenael Nicolas.

Restaurants & Bars
Chef Akira Back makes his UK debut at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair. Born in Korea and raised in Aspen, Colorado, Michelin Star award winning Chef Akira Back brings a sense of adventure and boundless creativity to his culinary creations. The Akira Back brand is a diverse portfolio of over 20 restaurants and lounges around the globe which pride themselves on creating innovative culinary experiences combined with a social atmosphere and elegant ambiance. The mission statement is to make unforgettable memories for guests by revolutionizing the dining experience through one-of-a-kind dishes and gracious service.

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort Thailand opens in 2024 with 124 rooms

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

May 23, 2022 – The Kimpton Hua Hin Resort boutique luxury brand’s success story continues in partnership with AWC

Thailand – 23 May 2022: IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, is honoured to announce the signing of Kimpton Hua Hin Resort in collaboration with long-standing partner Asset World Corporation, Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real-estate group.

Opening in 2024, the 124-room resort will be the fourth Kimpton hotel in the Kingdom. Part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, the Kimpton brand’s popularity and growth in Thailand has accelerated at pace since its debut in Bangkok in 2020, thanks to its heartfelt service, boldly playful design and award-winning dining offers.

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

The agreement is part of a long-term strategic partnership between IHG and AWC to jointly manage a portfolio of properties across Thailand featuring more than 1,200 rooms which includes the highly anticipated 302-room InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping which will open this year. The announcement follows last year’s triple signing which included two hotels in Bangkok’s Chinatown – InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown and Vignette Collection Bangkok Chinatown, as well as Aquatique Pattaya, which is also part of IHG’s Vignette Collection.

A full renovation will see Kimpton Hua Hin Resort transformed from the former Imperial Hua Hin which closed in May 2019. Located on an idyllic beachfront, it will offer guests the choice of four restaurants & bars, a swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and meeting spaces.

Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG said: “We’re delighted to partner with AWC to bring our joint vision for Kimpton Hua Hin Resort to life. As the fourth Kimpton hotel to be signed in Thailand – following Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, Kimpton Kitalay Samui and Kimpton Khao Yai – the resort will further strengthen the brand’s positioning in Thailand and around the world, and establish it as a hotel of choice for travellers seeking one-of-a-kind experiences.

“IHG has 30 hotels in Thailand and more than 30 in the pipeline, and we are proud to continue working with AWC to grow sustainably – together – over the next few years. As travel returns, we know there are great opportunities for us throughout the country.

“Our recent IHG search data shows Hua Hin in the top 10 searched destinations in the region for international travellers. We look forward to Kimpton Hua Hin Resort quickly becoming a great success, and can’t wait to welcome both domestic and international guests through its doors in 2024.”

Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President, Asset World Corporation (Plc), AWC added: “AWC is confident that Thailand’s tourism industry has a strong long-term future, so we will continue to strengthen Thailand as one of the world’s most attractive destinations. The expansion of our cooperation with IHG further diversifies our hospitality portfolio and allows us to deliver even more impressive experiences while meeting a wider array of customer demands after Thailand reopens.

“Kimpton is an exciting brand offering thoughtful design and world class restaurants & bars. It will be a great brand to introduce to Hua Hin and elevate this lifestyle destination further. We’re confident that together with a global partner like IHG Hotels & Resorts, we will continue to lift the benchmark of Thailand’s tourism industry and bring new distinctive experiences across Thailand for both domestic and international guests.”

Hua Hin has been the seaside resort destination of choice for Thai royalty for almost a century and is well-established as a cosmopolitan weekend getaway destination for local residents. It is also popular with second-home investors seeking a stylish and scenic retreat away from the city, making it an ideal location for the design-led and distinctive Kimpton brand.

A two-and-a-half hour drive from Bangkok and just ten minutes from Hua Hin Airport, the destination of Hua Hin is famed for its white sandy beaches, picturesque golf courses and nearby Kaeng Krachan national park, the largest national park in Thailand featuring waterfalls, caves and hiking trails.

Thailand continues to be a strong growth market for IHG, and the signing of Kimpton Hua Hin Resort is the latest move by the company to grow its Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio in Thailand by 50%, as well as double its estate across all of its brands, in the country by 2026.

The Kimpton brand’s global expansion continues to move at pace, with 75 open hotels* and a 38-strong pipeline that will see it surpass more than 100 properties worldwide. In 2022, the opening of Kimpton Kitalay Samui in Thailand and Kimpton Margot Sydney in Australia further added to the brand’s growing presence in prime leisure destinations with Kimpton Naranta Bali opening soon.

The luxury wellness resort will also feature diverse culinary offerings, including a central dining room, the signature Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen, and a marketplace offering mindful and healthful cuisine. Various cooking classes and workshops will be offered to promote and inspire a balanced lifestyle where nutrition is a key focus. Miraval The Red Sea will also feature approximately 4,300 square feet (400 square meters) of meeting space for wellness-focused, experiential activities tailored to improving connections and communication for social and corporate groups.

“We are thrilled to announce plans for the renowned Miraval brand in one of the Kingdom’s most impressive tourism developments in recent years,” said Ludwig Bouldoukian, Hyatt’s regional vice president of development for the Middle East and Africa. “Saudi Arabia has become a thriving hub for global business, arts and culture, and pioneering hospitality experiences, and continues to represent an important growth market for Hyatt. Miraval The Red Sea will expand on Hyatt’s growing luxury resort offerings in the Middle East, catering to today’s luxury travelers seeking wellbeing experiences through alignment of body, mind and spirit.”

The Red Sea Project is one of the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism developments. It is expected to become the Kingdom’s premier international leisure destination and a cornerstone to Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry. The luxury destination is centered around one of the world’s hidden natural treasures and is committed to preserving and actively enhancing the natural environment, which spans 10,800 square miles (28,000 square kilometers). It includes 124 miles (200 kilometers) of pristine coastline and an archipelago of more than 90 untouched islands, dormant volcanoes, desert, mountains, and a wide variety of wildlife. Miraval The Red Sea will join Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, which is also under development, as the second Hyatt-branded hotel within the Red Sea development.

“We are excited to work with Hyatt to establish the prestigious Miraval brand in this part of the world,” said John Pagano, CEO at The Red Sea Development Company. “As our second Hyatt-branded property part of phase one of this development, the Miraval brand’s focus on mindfulness and creating balance make it the perfect addition to our growing portfolio of world-class luxury brands. Miraval The Red Sea will meet the growing desire for personalized wellness journeys that are fully integrated with the surrounding environment. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience a new level of unrivalled luxury and immersive wellness tourism.”

Once open, Miraval The Red Sea will become the eighth Hyatt-branded property in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, building on the success of Hyatt’s existing portfolio of properties, including Park Hyatt Jeddah – Marina, Club and Spa, Grand Hyatt Al Khobar Hotel and Residences, Jabal Omar Hyatt Regency Makkah, Hyatt Regency Riyadh Olaya, Hyatt Place Riyadh Al Sulaimania and Hyatt House Jeddah Sari Street. This development reinforces Hyatt’s commitment to grow with local hotel owners who share Hyatt’s ambition for thoughtful growth.
