April 8, 2022 – Marriott expanding in Vietnam with 30 new hotels

With the reopening of Vietnam’s borders, Marriott International has announced plans to expand its portfolio in Vietnam, expecting to add nearly 9,000 rooms within the company’s portfolio, as well as debuting brands Ritz-Carlton Residences, Marriott Hotels, Westin, and Courtyard by Marriott.

“Vietnam experienced impressive pre-pandemic economic growth driven in part by coordinated development policies and the strong investment in infrastructure,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International. “Our growth in Vietnam reflects the trust our local owners and franchisees continue to have in Marriott International, and we look forward to presenting them with opportunities to leverage our comprehensive portfolio of 30 brands, as well as our strong distribution network.”

Premium Brands Lead the Way
Marriott’s premium brands continue to resonate in Vietnam. As the most global brand within the portfolio, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, expects to make its debut in several new destinations across Vietnam, including on the Emerald Island of Phu Quoc, the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, the “City of Eternal Springs” Dalat and the shores of Binh Chau. A stylish new Renaissance Hotels is planned to open in the seafront city of Danang, while Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts plans to debut in Danang and Cam Ranh.

The flagship Marriott Hotels brand is expected to debut in Hanoi, and Hoi An, while the Westin – the company’s leading wellness brand – is expected to open in Hanoi and Cam Ranh. Marriott Executive Apartments, the popular longer-stay brand, is also slated to start welcoming guests in Danang.

Select Service Brands Continue Rapid Growth
Marriott’s select service portfolio is driving strong momentum for growth in Vietnam, providing a range of offerings for both domestic and international travelers. Fairfield by Marriott is slated to be introduced in locations such as Vinh Yen, Ha Long and Hanoi, while several Courtyard by Marriott hotels are expected to open across Danang, Ha Long and Nha Trang.

A Burgeoning Branded Residences Market
Marriott continues to lead the branded residential segment with nearly 190 projects open or in development worldwide. Asia Pacific (excluding China) is one of the world’s fastest growing regions for branded residences, led in part by significant growth in Vietnam where Marriott International anticipates opening several Marriott branded residences over the next four years.

In 2021, the company announced a milestone branded residential project that is expected to include close to 4,200 dual-branded residential and officetel units in Ho Chi Minh City. The project is expected to serve as the world’s largest hotel-branded residential project and is slated to open in phases in late 2024. The highly anticipated The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Hanoi also expects to make its debut in Vietnam in 2024.

“Vietnam is a vibrant destination and has over the years experienced record levels of tourism as international travelers flocked to the country and domestic travelers began to discover the many wonders available in their own backyard,” said Jakob Helgen, Area Vice President – Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International. “With the recent reopening of borders, we are hopeful for Vietnam to rebound rapidly, and we are excited to expand across even more parts of this captivating country.”

Marriott International currently operates ten properties in Vietnam, comprising 3,294 rooms and spanning six of the company’s brands. These hotels and resorts are located across six key business and leisure destinations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Binh Duong.

Introducing new lodge in Maun Thamo Telele 2022

Introducing new lodge in Maun Thamo Telele

blank

blank

April 6, 2022 – Introducing new lodge in Maun Thamo Telele.

Thamo Telele is a 250-hectare private game reserve on the outskirts of the iconic safari town of Maun with an enviable location bordering the Thamalakane River. Not only is Maun the gateway for travel into the Okavango Delta, but this country town with its fascinating people and quirky culture has blossomed into a tourism destination in its own right.

The lodge itself is set amongst a lush forest of old growth leadwood, bird plum and acacia trees. Each suite and chalet is a little bush haven, wrapped around the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful forest area.

Thamo Telele having just undergone an exciting refurbishment, is warm, relaxed and colourfully quirky. Expect new giraffe themed interiors, air-conditioned rooms, beautiful bathrooms, outside showers, a cool bar and lounge area for sundowners and best of all a refreshing pool for a little sundeck and solitude.

This is the ideal stop-over either side of your safari!

A great place to relax and rejuvenate, here you can enjoy nature-based activities which include close encounters with our resident giraffe herd, horse rides, birding, nature walks, a local cultural tour and mountain bike rides.

One of the most captivating things about the lodge is its resident herd of 20 giraffe, which you can observe while on activities in the reserve and most enthralling get up close and personal to in the morning and evening while they feed at the waterhole. There are even naturalists on hand to tell you all about these fascinating animals, including giraffe conservation issues throughout Africa. This is a very special experience and one that we at Thamo Telele are particularly excited about!

In fact, the lodge was named after our littlest resident giraffe, born during our refurb in 2021. Surprisingly tall from birth, she was soon called Thamo Telele, meaning ‘long neck’ in Setswana. As we observed her growing day-by-day, she captured our hearts in such a profound way, that we decided to rename our ‘new’ lodge after her.

The abundant bird life will set any twitcher twitching and anyone with a soft spot for giraffe will be in a state of pure bliss as they get up close and learn more about our resident herd from our team of naturalists. In fact, the lodge was named after our littlest resident giraffe, born during our refurb in 2021. And as she continues to capture our hearts, upon arrival, she’ll be waiting to welcome you to this very special place in Maun she calls home.

The three historical buildings of this twenty-one-room boutique hotel stretch along the Casco Antiguo, the oldest and most authentic district of this Andalusian city. Its owners resolved to restore the architectural splendor of this sixteenth-century building. This began with archaeological digs that produced surprising treasures, such as the nave of an old church, which are presented in a small museum at the entrance of the hotel. From a raw food bar to grilled fish and party platters – and the bonus of a rooftop cocktail bar – the restaurant keeps pace with the Costa del Sol spirit, and is set to become the not-to-be-missed epicurean destination of this historic district.

April 1, 2022 – Marriott planning ten new hotels in Turkey

Marriott International has announced its intentions to expand its portfolio in Turkey, with 10 new hotels set to open by the end of 2022. Company’s portfolio in Turkey is also planned to consist of 43 hotels with approximately 7,000 rooms spread across eight markets. The group also announced two recent transaction signings under the Four Points by Sheraton brand, reinforcing its long-term emphasis on the market.

Marriott planning ten new hotels in Turkey

Consumers seeking residential property in communities that offer a convenient lifestyle and an array of on-demand amenities and services, as well as developers seeking to differentiate and elevate their products with trusted brands, continue to show interest in the company’s branded residential business in Turkey.

Marriott International currently has three branded residential properties in Turkey, including the Le Méridien Residences, Bodrum and The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Bodrum, which were the company’s first standalone branded residences in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Istanbul, and The Residences at the Sheraton Istanbul Esenyurt are also planned to open in 2022.

Select accommodations continue to grow strongly across the country

Marriott planning ten new hotels in Turkey:
The firm is scheduled to debut its extended stay brand, Residence Inn by Marriott, with the planned inauguration of Residence Inn by Marriott Istanbul Atasehir later this year, to fulfill the demand for longer-stay hotels in the country.

Modern, adaptable apartments with complete kitchens and separate living and sleeping spaces are suitable for visitors seeking the comforts of home, providing the perfect solution for travelers mixing business and leisure travel.

Owner desire for Marriott’s Premium brands

The company’s well-known premium brands continue to be a key growth engine in the Turkish market.

Marriott planning ten new hotels in Turkey:
Following the recent inauguration of the Orientbank Hotel Istanbul, Autograph Collection, two additional Autograph Collection hotels are set to open in Istanbul in 2021 and 2022 : The Burdock, Autograph Collection and Orient Occident Hotel, Autograph Collection. Autograph Collection hotels celebrate originality while benefiting from Marriott International’s size, allowing independent hoteliers to use the company’s distribution, sales, and loyalty network while preserving their independent character.

Delta Hotels by Marriott, which provides guests with exactly what they need for a seamless travel experience, made its debut in the country in 2019 with the opening of Delta Hotels by Marriott Istanbul Halic. The brand is slated to open Delta Hotels by Marriott Istanbul Levent by the end of 2021.

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts remains a popular brand in Turkey, despite undergoing a much-anticipated design makeover. Sheraton Istanbul Esenyurt is expected to open next year, following the recent launches of Sheraton Istanbul City Center and Sheraton Istanbul Levent.

The new Sheraton experience delivers services and design that promote sociability, productivity, and customization, drawing on its heritage as a community hub for locals and visitors. With the recent inauguration of the Izmir Marriott Hotel, the company’s flagship brand continues to expand its portfolio in Turkey.

Growth in conversion opportunities

Marriott planning ten new hotels in Turkey:
While a large majority of the company’s previous growth in Turkey has come from new-build initiatives, conversion prospects have increased. The business has inked six conversion deals throughout the country in the last two years.

Since then, Marriott International has launched five of the conversion transactions, including Sheraton Istanbul City Centre and Sheraton Istanbul Levent. There has also been a surge in interest in the adaptive re-use sector, as developers are trying to transform old structures into hotel rooms.

In the past three years, the company has also signed four adaptive re-use conversions in Turkey including JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus and The Burdock, Autograph Collection.

March 31, 2022 – New Novotel Melbourne hotel

A multi-million dollar investment to transform an existing property into a new Novotel hotel has today been unveiled.

New Novotel Melbourne hotel opens in april 2022

Developed by GCP Hospitality and operated under Accor’s midscale Novotel brand, the new Novotel Melbourne Preston emerges following an extensive refurbishment and rebrand.

Rising seven levels and offering captivating views of the Dandenong, the hotel comprises 383 guestrooms, suites and fully self-contained studio apartments and is ideally positioned on Bell Street at Preston – home to eclectic pockets of vintage shops, cafés, bars and a diverse range of restaurants.

GCP Hospitality CEO and Co-Founder, Christophe Vielle, said: “The opening of Novotel Melbourne Preston is a crucial milestone for GCP Hospitality as it demonstrates our dedication to expanding our hotel portfolio in Australia. Combining comfort, convenience and boasting a great location within easy reach of Melbourne’s CBD and top attractions, Novotel Melbourne Preston is poised to be an exciting destination for business travellers and tourists alike.”

Novotel has one of the largest international brand footprints across the Pacific with more than 40 hotels in key metropolitan and leisure destinations.

Accor Pacific CEO, Sarah Derry, said: “We are delighted to introduce our Novotel brand to Melbourne’s inner-north. Novotel Melbourne Preston is a celebration of innovative interior design, thoughtful detail and, importantly for this location, will provide great food and beverage options for our loyal guests and the local community. The hotel has been tailored to suit smart, successful business and leisure travellers who value great guest service and leading design.”

Melbourne-based architecture and design studio, Architectus, were engaged to create contemporary and sophisticated spaces throughout the hotel, including re-designed guestrooms, a designer reception and lobby area, a brand-new café Stampton & Co and restaurant The Stampton.

Taking inspiration from the intertwining lively, urban commercial area to the west of the hotel and spacious, relaxed residential area to the east, the hotel’s design context boasts a rich mixture of contrasting textures and materiality, along with a relaxed yet lively combination of colours.

The ground floor of the hotel has been activated with the addition of two new reception spaces, new grab and go Stampton & Co café, as well as an assortment of seating arrangements and furniture, offering guests a range of options from a quick set down, lounge area, co-working and informal meeting spaces, plus large meeting tables with integrated power. Finishes include custom-designed carpets, ceramic floor tiles laid in various directions, formats and tones, as well as custom timber screens, dropped timber ceilings, and curtains to define different spaces.

Guestrooms have been designed to maximise a sense of light and space, with custom design carpets and bespoke wall graphics of commissioned photography from the local area. Loose furniture adds warmth and pops of colour throughout the rooms and is reflected in the custom-designed vanities and mirrors in the bathrooms. All rooms also feature modern technology and facilities including a Smart TV, multiple USB hubs, workspace, in-room safe and minibar on demand.

The hotel will also be home to a new onsite restaurant, The Stampton, when it opens in April 2022. Serving a simple yet delicious all-day dining menu of fresh and local homestyle food with a bistro edge, the restaurant has been carefully designed to marry the rustic charm of a farmhouse with Melbourne’s urban hospitality scene. The restaurant’s comfortable and stylish indoor / outdoor spaces will transition seamlessly from day to night, and evoke a sensory experience though quality touches, handmade elements and a focus on ambience and a convivial marketplace atmosphere.

The hotel’s 16 meeting and events spaces have also been refreshed and renovated with new carpets, curtains, reupholstered chairs and an AV upgrade.

March 31, 2022 – Armani Hotels Diriyah

Armani Hotels & Resorts and Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) have announced plans for a signature Armani Hotel to be built in the city of Diriyah within Saudi Arabia.

Armani Hotels Diriyah – new property in Saudi Arabia

With resemblance to Armani Hotels & Resorts’ current hotels in Dubai and Milan, the property will be managed by Emaar Hospitality Group.

The 300-year-old site of Diriyah is located just 15 minutes from Riyadh’s centre.

The area is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, At-Turaif, the valley and lush palm groves of Wadi Hanifah, and will soon include the Diriyah development, an acclaimed pedestrian-centric project that preserves the rich history and culture of Saudi Arabia.

Upon completion, Diriyah will comprise 13 unique districts inclusive of museums, cultural institutions, fine dining, residences, hospitality offerings, office space, retail and outdoor attractions.

“Armani Hotel Diriyah allows me to interpret my idea of lifestyle and hospitality in a particularly subtle and embracing way.

“After celebrating the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Armani Hotels in Milan and Dubai, I am ready to take on this exciting new challenge.

“I am inspired by this initiative and delighted to be part of a project of such wide geographical and cultural scope.”

Armani Hotels Diriyah – The third Armani property globally, Armani Hotel Diriyah represents a new interpretation of Armani hospitality, conversing with the unique architecture and landscape of the destination.

Armani Hotel Diriyah, developed by Diriyah in collaboration with Giorgio Armani and his in-house interior design team and the architects who are involved in the design of the development, is characterised by essential lines that enhance the precious materials utilised, and a subtle interplay of volumes, light and shadow — perfectly in line with the aesthetics and landscape of Saudi Arabia.

Jerry Inzerillo, group chief executive of Diriyah Gate Development Authority, commented: “It is an honour to partner with Armani Hotels on this prestigious project.

“Their elegant and forward-thinking approach to modern hospitality will bring a new dynamic to Diriyah’s hospitality offering and bring with it an exciting guest experience to the kingdom.

“As we develop what will become one of the world’s great gathering places, rich in culture, history and authenticity, we are proud to partner with brands such as Armani who demonstrate such a timeless approach to hospitality.”

Overlooking Diriyah’s ultra-luxury hospitality and retail quarter, the hotel will include 70 luxuriously designed rooms, two restaurants and a high-end spa, with suites having their own spa and a swimming pool, offering a variety of wellness, hospitality and relaxation experiences.

The hotel is connected to approximately 18 exclusive self-contained ultra-luxury Armani Branded Residences designed and furnished by Armani – with spacious interiors and outdoor pools, landscaped terraces and rooftops.
