Dubai’s Burj Khalifa is the most visited iconic landmark on Street View on Google Maps across the Middle East and North Africa. Today, Google announced the top 10 most visited locations on Street View in the region over the past year.

They are:

  1. Burj Khalifa – UAE
  2. The Kaaba – Saudi Arabia
  3. Giza Necropolis – Egypt
  4. Masjid Al-Haram – Saudi Arabia
  5. The Great Pyramid of Giza – Egypt
  6. Al Masjid an Nabawi – Saudi Arabia
  7. Burj Al Arab – UAE
  8. The Sphinx of Giza – Egypt
  9. The Dubai Fountain – UAE
  10. Dubai International Airport – UAE

Street View offers panoramic, street level imagery of the world, allowing people to experience places, right from their computer or phone. Google uses Street View imagery to capture 360 images of places around the world to help people keep discovering, including the Middle East & North Africa’s diverse landmarks.

Street View was first launched in MENA in 2013 in the UAE and has since helped people explore the region virtually including in Jordan, Tunisia, the UAE and more. The Pyramids of Meroë is one the most recent Street View projects.

Globally, over the last 15 years, Street View cars have travelled over 10 million miles – a distance that circles the entire globe more than 400 times – and have collected more than 220 billion images. On Google Maps Street View, you can also look into historical images for some of these locations  to see how they’ve changed over time.

Hilton has announced plans to open one of the world’s largest Hampton by Hilton hotels in Vienna. Following a franchise agreement with partner Primestar Hospitality, the new development is scheduled to open in autumn 2024.

In Europe, Hampton by Hilton has more than doubled its portfolio in the last five years, arriving in new markets including Belgium, Latvia and Austria, which welcomed 32 million international visitors in 2019. Working with our trusted partner Primestar, we are excited to build on the brand’s Viennese presence with a second Hampton by Hilton, the largest in Europe and a valuable addition to the brand’s European portfolio.”

As part of a EUR40 million new development, Hampton by Hilton Vienna City West’s 358 guest rooms will be constructed under Hampton by Hilton’s modern design, featuring contemporary furnishings and signature bedding. The hotel will include a fully-equipped fitness centre and a multi-functional open concept lobby space designed to accommodate guests’ needs during their travels. Hampton by Hilton’s complimentary breakfast will also be available at Hampton by Hilton Vienna City West, ensuring guests are well ready to explore the city’s many attractions.

Consistently named the most liveable city in the world, Vienna boasts abundant green spaces and museums, architectural marvels and cultural cornerstones like the city’s famous coffee houses. Schönbrunn Palace, just over 20 minutes’ walk from Hampton by Hilton Vienna City West, is one of Europe’s grandest Baroque palaces. Radisson has announced the opening of its latest Tunisian hotel offering in the historic city of Sfax. This new opening is part of the group’s 2022 development plan to add more than a dozen hotels in Africa and reach just over 100 hotels in operation and under development on the continent.

Located within walking distance of the city centre and the historic medina, the Radisson Tunisia Hotel Sfax offers its guests the opportunity to discover the cultural wonders of Sfax, such as the Kasbah Museum set in an ancient fortress, and other equally impressive landmarks with origins dating back to 849 AD. Sfax is the Tunisian city with the greatest number of World Heritage Sites. The medieval Medina of Sfax which dates back to the 9th century AD is unique and rare because it has maintained intact its original Arab-Muslim town plan as well as Arabic, Roman, and Ottoman elements which were added over the centuries.

Radisson Tunisia Sfax offers 88 bright, contemporary rooms and suites, all with views of the city. The hotel will be the first and only internationally branded upscale hotel in the city, catering to growing government, corporate, and MICE demand in the local and wider areas with seven fully equipped meeting rooms and a separate breakout area.

Radisson Hotel Sfax’s two dining venues, La Medina and Younga Sky, offer a range of cuisines, from traditional Tunisian fare to European and Oriental favorites. La Medina gives guests the chance to watch chefs prepare their order at a live cooking station, while Younga Sky offers stunning views of the city and coastline from its perch on the ninth floor. The hotel’s Eden Spa comprises three massage cabins with showers, an herbal tearoom, a relaxation room, a sauna, a Turkish hammam, a sensory shower, an exfoliation cabin, and an affusion shower, in addition to a sun terrace and an outdoor pool.

Four Seasons Italy will assume management of the historic Hotel Danieli. Following extensive renovations, the property will be reintroduced as Hotel Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel in 2025.

Located in the Riva degli Schiavoni region of Venice along the Grand Canal, adjacent to Piazza San Marco, the Hotel consists of three buildings: the 14th century Palazzo Dandolo and two 19th century additions linked by bridges – Palazzo Casa Nuova and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior. Hotel Danieli’s rich heritage is on display throughout the property, showcased in the beautifully preserved Venetian Gothic style architecture, along with art and antiques from throughout the property’s history.

Venice is a significant travel market globally, celebrated for its art, culture and architecture. The city is also known for its unique geography, as it is built on an archipelago of hundreds of islands, some of which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, connected by bridges and canals. Travellers explore the city via water or on foot, allowing them to take in the extraordinary sights and attractions at every turn.

Hotel Danieli has a long history of being one of the most luxurious hotels in Venice with an ideal location in the heart of the city. Guests will be a short walk from myriad attractions, including the market stalls of Piazza San Marco, gondola rides along the canal and Basilica San Marco. Four Seasons Italy 

Guests will be immersed in the splendour of the property from the moment their stay begins, enjoying unique arrival experience on boat via the Grand Canal. Guest rooms feature exceptional views of the Grand Canal, surrounding city and Venice’s Bay. The property also features four restaurant and bar outlets, which also benefit from exquisite views, as well as seven meeting and event spaces.

The Hotel will undergo extensive renovations prior to reopening as a Four Seasons experience, with renowned designer Pierre-Yves Rochon overseeing the interiors. Rochon has worked on several other historic Four Seasons properties in Europe, including in Florence, Paris, Cap-Ferrat and Megève. During the renovation period, the property will remain open with select services and amenities available. During this time, the hotel will be operated and managed by Gruppo Statuto under the name The Hotel Danieli, Venezia.

Upon reopening as a Four Seasons experience in 2025, Hotel Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel, will join Four Seasons growing collection of properties in Italy, including Four Seasons Hotel Milano, which recently underwent extensive renovations of its common areas; Four Seasons Hotel Firenze; San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel; and an upcoming resort in Puglia.

The interiors of the common areas in the Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia were created by renowned interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. Urban in style, its design has a contemporary aesthetic featuring special designer pieces with a more modern flair. Rosa-Violán envisioned creating a cozy and comfortable environment for guests with natural leather upholstery and high-pile rugs, which were accented by lush leafy greenery, bringing the outdoors indoors, which is a signature design element of Rosa-Violán. The color palette highlights the shades used in the some of the furniture upholstery as well as the colors used at certain points in the decorative elements. Rosewood Red Sea will boast 149 guest rooms and suites. Elevated food and beverage offerings will include three restaurants, two lounges, a signature Manor Club and a central hub featuring authentic eateries. Additional recreational spaces will include event pavilions and Asaya™, Rosewood’s integrative well-being concept consisting of seven treatment rooms, a gym, two movement studios and a yoga pavilion.

Encompassing 22 islands and five inland sites by the time it completes in 2030, The Red Sea destination will be home to a luxury and upper-upscale segment composed of mono-island resorts, beach resorts, centralized island-hubs, and inland resorts in the desert and mountains. The destination is located 550 km north of Jeddah. For travellers near and far, the new Red Sea International Airport will provide access and airlift to the destination. It is set to welcome its first flight by the end of 2022.
