The 28-storey, 220-key Waldorf Astoria Sydney is now taking shape in AW One Circular Quay’s mixed-use development, One Circular Quay. From here, views take in the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
The hotel joins a brand portfolio of more than 30 hotels, with 20 more in the pipeline, worldwide. This Sydney opening will mark the brand’s entry to Australasia and join six other Waldorf Astoria properties in the Asia Pacific region.
Waldorf Astoria hotels all promise to pair landmark locations with world-class cuisine and personalised service.
“As the first Waldorf Astoria property to debut in Australia, Waldorf Astoria Sydney signals Hilton’s commitment to expanding our luxury portfolio to the world’s most sought-after destinations,” said Matt Schuyler, chief brand officer, Hilton.
“Our highly personalised, elegant service and iconic environments are at the heart of every hotel, and we look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests in Sydney.”
Guy Phillips, senior vice president of development, Asia and Australasia, Hilton, added: “Hilton is thrilled to partner with AW One Circular Quay for the entry of the Waldorf Astoria brand into Australasia, which marks a significant milestone in the growth of our luxury portfolio.”
“The introduction of Waldorf Astoria to Sydney underscores our development strategy of organically bringing our world-class brands to discerning travellers in key global markets.”
Designed for guests and locals
With its location at 1 Alfred Street in the One Circular Quay development, Waldorf Astoria Sydney will adjoin a 61-level luxury apartment tower and place guests within walking distance of attractions including Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Royal Botanic Gardens and Museum of Contemporary Art.
The hotel is being designed by Tokyo-based Kengo Kuma & Associates and Sydney-based Crone Architects to fuse cutting-edge design with contemporary living.
On completion, the hotel will house 179 guest rooms and 41 suites reflecting the signature Waldorf Astoria aesthetic, along with an array of public spaces and the Waldorf Astoria Spa.
The property will add to Sydney’s gastronomic scene with two original restaurant concepts and a highlight of the hotel is set to be its rooftop bar commanding views over Sydney Harbour. The brand’s signature space, Peacock Alley, will serve as the hotel’s central gathering space.
