Costa Cruise To Place Three Ships To South America In 2023-24

Beginning with the 2023–2024 winter season, Costa Cruises will have three ships operating out of South America.

A news release states that the six-month local programme will feature the Costa Diadema, the Costa Favolosa, and the Costa Fascinosa.

From November 2023 through May 2024, the ships will sail one of the company’s longest seasons in the area, providing a wide range of itineraries to Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.

With more time and bigger ships, Costa will be able to increase its market share and exceed its capacity projections for the 2022-2023 season.

When looking at the development of the cruise industry in South America, it is impossible to separate the story of Costa from that of the whole region. They will have served the area for 75 years in March of 2023.

Costa Cruises’ Executive President for South and Central America, Dario Rustico, has said that the company’s recent years of record growth in customer preference can be credited to its robust and ambitious business strategy, which has always prioritised sustainable and lasting expansion.

One of the programme’s highlights is the return of the Costa Diadema for a second season in the region.

The ship will set sail from Santos, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador and provide a variety of weekly trips to Bahia.

The Costa Diadema provides the Brazilian market with a new option for unforgettable cruise holidays.

Commercial Director for Costa Cruises in Brazil, Ruy Ribeiro, said passengers well received the ship during her inaugural season.

The city in the southern part of Brazil is the embarkation point for five-week cruises to Argentina and Uruguay aboard the Costa Fascinosa.

The Costa Favolosa will sail from Santos and Itajai (Brazil), providing a full complement of local cruise options with voyages ranging from three to seven nights.

The ship’s itinerary covers ports in Argentina and Uruguay and various ports in Brazil.

Marriott International has announced it has signed an agreement with Suzhou Jingyuan Hotel Management Co., Ltd., to bring the design-driven AC Hotels by Marriott® brand to Greater China. Expected to open in December 2022, the 135-room AC Hotel by Marriott Suzhou will sit ideally at the heart of Suzhou, bringing “The Perfectly Precise Hotel™” experience to locals and travelers alike.

Disney Cruise Line’s sixth ship, Disney Treasure, will join the fleet in 2024, and Peter Pan was on hand at the recent D23 Disney Fan Expo to assist unveil the ship’s details. On stage at the Anaheim event, the crew revealed the ship’s name and other unknown information to the audience by playing a smart concept film in which the famous character flies over the ship.

Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that the Disney Treasure will have a brand-new theme, unlike anything Disney Cruise Line has done before and that the theme of adventure.

Inspired by Walt Disney’s love of exploration, it is intended to serve as a platform for “epic experiences that immerse guests in some of the company’s most legendary stories.”

“A treasure is at the core of every journey, and we can’t wait for you to make memories aboard this wonderful ship,” D’Amaro added.

The Grand Hall, he said, will radiate adventure, inviting guests to seek all the treasures on board from the moment they set sail, and will draw on real-world influences from Asia and Africa, as well as pay homage to the far-away land of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic tale, “Aladdin.”

The Disney Cruise Line distinctive atrium figure statue will represent Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Magic Carpet sailing out into the sunset towards “a whole new world of adventure.”

As a follow-up to the Disney Wish, which sailed away in July, this ship is expected to arrive in 2024. The second of three brand-new vessels scheduled for delivery by 2025 will provide 1,254 guest cabins.

Meanwhile, in late October 2023, Disney Cruise Line will begin offering “Disney Magic at Sea” trips to passengers in Australia and New Zealand. The ship is the final stop on these unique cruises, designed to provide local customers with an unforgettable experience inspired by their favourite Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars films.

Through February 2024, the Disney Wonder will set sail on “Disney Magic at Sea” trips from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Auckland. These cruises range in length from two to six nights.

Changing a territory through culture. The Bergamo and Brescia initiative will kick off a wide-ranging project to tackle contemporary challenges focused on culture, sustainability, enhancement of the artist heritage, welfare and innovation. Italian Capital of Culture 2023 has a packed programme of 100 major projects and another 500 initiatives, the work of many organisations through a network of joint planning.

It begins with a magnificent inaugural ceremony on the 21st and 22nd of January, 2023 and continues all year with events linked to music, theatre, art and much more. The Festival of Lights will get the ball rolling: Brescia (10-19 February) and Bergamo (17-26 February) will become open-air art galleries, featuring prestigious national and international artists.

The campaign to draw in an international public will unveil an unexpected face of Italy, breaking out of the “information bubble”: Bergamo and Brescia are less well-known destinations than the main Italian cities popular with foreign visitors but art, centuries-old tradition, innovation, majestic natural landscapes, historical monuments, food, wine and much more can all be found there.

“Bergamo and Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023,” said Bergamo’s Mayor, Giorgio Gori, “is a joint approach to the challenge our two cities wanted to tackle at a historic time of great change. Culture, as well as being an essential lever for attracting tourism, is vital for the improvement of the life of our communities.”

The tiny island of Isla Mujeres off the Caribbean coast of Mexico is getting a major new resort.

All-inclusive brand Secrets is opening its new adults-only Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres in December.
The new all-suite, boutique resort is slated to open its doors on Dec. 12, according to the company’s Web site.

The resort will feature a total of 125 suites, all with personalized butler service and Secrets’ “Endless Privileges” inclusions.
It will also have 16 different food and beverage concepts, from a wine cellar for private dining to a steakhouse to a rooftop bar called “The Top.”

Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres will also have a Secrets Spa, with six treatment rooms (three of which are for couples’ treatments) and a Hammam, among other amenities.

Secrets is part of Apple Leisure Group’s AMR Collection and also part of Hyatt’s new Inclusive Collection of global all-inclusive destination resorts.

The Isla Mujeres resort is part of a growing Secrets sub-brand called Impression, one that will soon adorn three different properties in the Mexican Caribbean.

It will be the AMR Collection’s second resort on Isla Mujeres, joining the existing Zoëtry Villa Rolandi.

Qatar Airways and British Airways have completed the next phase of their partnership development, providing worldwide access to more countries than any other airline joint venture.

The airlines have added 42 additional countries to its common network, including Italy, the Maldives, Norway, Singapore, and Sweden, providing customers with improved connectivity between European, Middle Eastern, African, Asian, and Pacific destinations.

Customers will now have even more pricing and schedule options, with direct flights and connections via hubs in London and Doha. This is all part of Qatar Airways and British Airways’ ambition to “Move Further Together” by expanding their combined network and offering passengers the best of both carriers.

The extension will allow for smooth connecting travels on single tickets between Doha and London, raising the total number of destinations offered by the two airlines to 185, spanning more than 60 countries.

The complementing networks give access to dozens of countries that no other alliance or joint venture does. The collaboration also assures access to more cities worldwide, supporting global trade, tourism, investment, and cultural exchange.

Customers will also have more freedom to engage in both airlines’ loyalty programmes, earning and spending Avios, their common currency. Customers may link their Qatar Airways Privilege Club, and British Airways Executive Club accounts to transfer Avios and combine balances to collect rewards from both programmes.

Access to both airlines’ luxury lounges and cabins to suit all budgets and needs, including British Airways’ new Club Suite and Qatar Airways’ award-winning Qsuite, is also included in the partnership.

Aer Lingus is to launch a new transatlantic route for summer 2023 which will see the airline operate its first service to Cleveland in Ohio, with connections from nine UK airports.

Starting on 19 May 2023, the new North America service will operate four times a week. This will be Aer Lingus’ 15th transatlantic route from Ireland and the only direct European service to Cleveland.
UK customers will be able to connect on onto Aer Lingus’ Cleveland service via Dublin from nine UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Southampton, and Leeds Bradford.

Fares start from £249* each way as part of a return journey.
Flying via its Dublin Hub, UK customers can benefit from US Immigration Pre-clearance, which allows them to arrive into the US like a domestic passenger, avoiding any lengthy immigration queues.

Next summer Aer Lingus will offer customers a choice of 15 transatlantic routes between Ireland and North America, as well as three long-haul services from its Manchester bas

Rebuilding connectivity and growing its transatlantic network is critical to Aer Lingus’ long-term growth strategy as it continues its recovery following the pandemic.

The addition of Cleveland as a new destination demonstrates the airline’s commitment to connecting Europe to North America via its Dublin Hub.
Travellers from Cleveland will benefit from a direct connection to Ireland and its seamless onward connections to more than 20 key European cities – London, Paris, Manchester, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Brussels, Lyon and Edinburgh, among others.

Reid Moody, Aer Lingus Chief Strategy & Planning Officer, said: “This is a significant announcement for Aer Lingus as we deliver on our ambition to grow our transatlantic network.
“The commencement of a new route, accompanied with further network connectivity, is an exciting milestone for the airline during a critical time of recovery for our business.
“The new service to Cleveland not only provides a direct connection to Ireland but connections to over 20 popular European destinations via our Dublin Hub.”

“We are truly excited for the opportunity to have nonstop service for travellers to connect to Ireland and the many other European destinations. Our team has worked for years to bring this route to Cleveland for our community.”
The new Dublin-Cleveland service will be served by an Airbus A321neo LR, which is Aer Lingus’ most sustainable long-haul aircraft.

The Airbus A321neo LR, which comprises both Business Cabin and Economy Class cabin, delivers up to 20% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions and close to 50% reduction in noise footprint, when compared to previous generation aircraft.
Located in the U.S. state of Ohio, Cleveland is the largest city on Lake Erie and one of the biggest in the Great Lakes region.

Cleveland is known as the birthplace of rock and roll, for its vibrant art and culture scene and its picturesque parklands

According to research conducted by OAG, a company specialising in aviation analytics on a global scale, Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, was one of the most punctual carriers in the Middle East and the world during the busiest summer travel period.

Etihad has earned an on-time arrival performance rating of 83% or better within 15 minutes since April.

Since April 2022, OAG has rated Etihad as one of the few airlines in the Middle East that routinely achieves an 80% on-time arrival performance and has one of the lowest cancellation rates in the world.

Emirates expands flight schedules across Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban

Emirates will be bringing new travel opportunities, choice and convenience for customers traveling to and from South Africa with additional services to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. The ramp up of flights are part of the airline’s ongoing commitment to support South Africa’s economic and tourism recovery through enhanced connectivity across all of its gateways. The airline’s latest move also reaffirms South Africa’s strategic importance on its network, as it prioritises service expansion and rebuilding its capacity to unlock further growth potential.

Emirates Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban

The airline will be expanding its schedule to and from Johannesburg with three daily flights from 1 March 2023. Cape Town will be served with double daily services starting from 1 February 2023. Emirates will also be adding two more flights to Durban, making it a daily operation from 1 December 2022. The reintroduction of the new flights between Dubai and the airline’s three gateways in South Africa will enhance Emirates’ schedule to 42 weekly services.

Emirates’ flight EK 767 from Dubai to Johannesburg will operate with a Boeing 777 aircraft, complementing its double daily A380 operation. The flight will depart at 2325hrs, arriving at 0535hrs the next day to Johannesburg. The return flight will depart Johannesburg at 2220hrs and arrives in Dubai at 0820hrs the next morning. The third daily flight from Johannesburg will help meet high demand with more than 300 available seats each way, and will offer additional flexibility for South African travellers with a new evening departure* for easier connectivity to Europe, the Americas, West Asia and Far East via Dubai.

Emirates’ second daily service to Cape Town will depart Dubai at 0910hrs, landing at 1645hrs. It will then depart Cape Town at 1325hrs, arriving in Dubai at 0110hrs the next day. With the double daily service to Cape Town, the airline will have restored its pre-pandemic schedule, supporting the city’s tourism industry right during peak season arrivals by providing convenient connectivity from key source markets such as Europe, the Middle East, West Asia and Australasia. As part of its longstanding commitment to support tourism recovery efforts in South Africa, Emirates and the South African Tourism Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this year to jointly promote tourism and boost visitor arrivals to South Africa across the airline’s network of over 130 passenger destinations.

The additional services to all three gateways will also benefit customers with more connecting choices to an array of domestic and regional cities across Southern Africa via Emirates’ codeshare and interline partners including South African Airways, Airlink, FlySafair and Cemair. The unique connections and onward travel options are not offered by any other airline.

Customers flying between Dubai and South Africa can look forward to an elevated experience across every cabin class, with thoughtfully designed menus and locally sourced beverages, signature amenities and exceptional hospitality delivered by the airline’s diverse, multinational crew.

The airline continues to raise the bar on the premium experience for its South African customers with a local selection of South African wines including Ken Forrester, Porseleinberg, Klein Constantia, Waterkloof, Boekenhoutskloof, amongst others. In addition to this, customers can look forward to dining on authentic, proudly South African dishes and flavours with an array of local cheeses and Rooibos-inspired cuisine.

In addition to providing much needed seat capacity in and out of South Africa, Emirates’ new flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban will collectively provide more cargo belly-hold capacity to further scale up import and export opportunities for local businesses, helping carry vital exports including seafood, fruits and vegetables, fresh and frozen meats, wine, pharmaceuticals, and gold – between the UAE, South Africa and beyond.

Radisson Hotel Group announces a record year of growth for Greece with four signings and three openings to date, leading international development activity in the country.

2022 marks an impressive year for the Group as it continues to build on its growing trust from strategic investors and partners. With the signing of two hotels in Athens and two resorts in Mykonos and Skiathos, both of which also opened earlier this year, the Group’s portfolio now stands at seven hotels and resorts with more than 800 rooms in operation and under development.

In recent months, Radisson Hotel Group introduced several of its brands to the Greek market. It announced the signing of its first Radisson RED property in Greece, Radisson RED Mitropoleos Square Athens, set to open in the second half of 2023 and will see the introduction of its upscale lifestyle brand to the country. A conversion of an old office building, the Radisson RED Mitropoleos Square Athens will feature 100 rooms, 150 sqm of meeting space, and a fitness area. An all-day dining restaurant will be located on the ground floor with prime views of the local square. The highlight of the property will be its rooftop bar and restaurant with direct views of the Acropolis in association with a celebrity chef that will be announced in the coming months.

Opening this November, The Social Kolonaki Athens Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals is a new addition to the Group’s growing Radisson Individuals portfolio. The hotel will be the only branded hotel on Voukourestiou Street, the most upscale retail street in the center of Athens. The seven-story hotel with lively, urban interiors to match the hotel’s fashionable location will offer 24 spacious guest rooms and suites, including one presidential suite. The hotel is expected to become a lifestyle destination with a trendy restaurant and bar area on the ground floor, a mezzanine breakfast area, and private dining facilities. The hotel lobby will be the ideal space for all types of art events and social gatherings in the city.

The Group also marked another milestone this year with the expansion of its resort portfolio with the addition of two resorts on the popular islands of Mykonos and Skiathos, joining the other island resort locations of Santorini and Crete where Radisson Hotel Group is already present. Radisson Blu Euphoria Resort, Mykonos opened in May as the Group’s first hotel and the island’s first core international brand in this world-renowned destination. The hotel is located steps from golden Kalo Livadi and features 34 stylish rooms and suites that draw inspiration from the famous whitewashed architecture of the Cyclades. Most rooms offer spectacular views of the bay and the Aegean Sea, including the grand Euphoria Suite with its spacious terrace and private pool. Radisson Resort Plaza Skiathos opened its doors in July and prides itself as the island’s first internationally branded hotel, located at Kanapitsa beach with 84 rooms and suites and decorated in a modern, minimalist style that offer views of the hotel pool or the sea. The resort is also ideally suited for weddings with its own on-site orthodox chapel and versatile outdoor pool area that offers receptions with stunning views.

Radisson Hotel Group currently operates five hotels and resorts in Greece, Radisson Blu Park Hotel in Athens; Radisson Blu Beach Resort, Milatos in Crete; Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort, Santorini; Radisson Blu Euphoria Resort, Mykonos; and Radisson Resort Plaza Skiathos with two more to open in the coming months.

The Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun offers guests a range of accommodation options, from unparalleled luxury to more modest comfort. With 9 room types on offer, there’s a little something for everyone. The spacious Luxury Junior Suite is ideal for small families or couples and is complete with either ocean or mangrove views.
Visitors seeking the utmost comfort and luxury can opt for the Luxury Sky Chairman Two Bedroom Ocean Front suite, the property’s most lavish offering. Sleeping up to eight people across two bedrooms, the massive space is meant to give guests expansive views of the surrounding ocean.

However, all rooms come with a private balcony and 24/7 room services. And thanks to the DreamBed technology found in all of the hotel’s beds, guests can get a good night’s rest to help them make the most of their stay.

Visitors can already book a stay at the new resort from December 20 onwards. A 6-night stay in January 2023 will set guests back $2,300 (or $386/night) when choosing the Luxury Junior Suite. A stay of the same duration in the more upscale Luxury Junior Suite Ocean Front room will cost $6,309.

The new resort also offers guests plenty of dining and drink options. There are 12 restaurants and 10 bars to choose from. Focusing on both local and international flavors, guests can enjoy a versatile dining experience during their stay.
Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean have been experiencing a hotel boom in recent times. As international travel continues to bounce back following a two-year hiatus, more hotels and resorts are popping up across the region. In addition to Royalton, AMR is betting heavily on the area, with three new hotels set to open soon. Overall, the Riviera Maya has seen the newest hotel openings, followed by Cancun and Isla Mujeres.
