  • The airline will add four frequencies to its current services until it recovers its pre-pandemic capacity with an offer of more than 300,000 seats.

  • Thanks to the recent codeshare agreement with Viva Aerobus, Iberia expanded its capillarity in the interior of the country to offer customers easy connections with 19 other Mexican cities.
  • The increased operation will favour the flow of travellers and improve connectivity between both sides of the Atlantic
  • In Europe, the airline will deploy even more capacity than in the winter of 2019, with a commitment to corporate and leisure markets.
  • The flights are operated with the latest-generation Airbus A-350/900 aircraft, which are 35% more efficient in terms of fuel consumption, with a capacity for 348 passengers.
  • Its three cabins -Business, Premium Economy, and Economy- offer features to improve customers’ in-flight experience, such as high-speed Wi-Fi, a greater sense of space and an advanced air-renewal system.
  • In addition to its renewed passenger experience, Iberia also debuted its new uniform, designed by Teresa Helbig.

Iberia flights to Mexico

Iberia is finalising its 2022-2023 winter programme -from 30 October to 25 March 2023- and continues to work on resuming its entire network of flights and destinations.

For this winter, the airline scheduled the same capacity that it offered before the pandemic, thanks, above all, to the relaunch of its last remaining routes in Latin America (Rio de Janeiro and Caracas), to its commitment to the US market and to a greater deployment of flights in its short- and medium-haul network.

In Mexico, Iberia will recover 100% of its pre-pandemic capacity and will add four weekly frequencies to its current offer, bringing it up to 21 weekly frequencies, which represents more than 300,000 seats.

With three daily flights, Mexico City will be the metropolis with the most frequencies of all the Spanish airline’s destinations, showing its firm commitment to this strategic market and reinforcing its leadership in Latin America.

The flight schedules will be:

In Mexico, thanks to the recent codeshare agreement with the Mexican company Viva Aerobus, Iberia expanded its network of connections within the country to 19 other cities including Guadalajara, Cancún, Monterrey, Veracruz, Mérida, Tampico, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tijuana, Hermosillo, Oaxaca, Huatulco, Torreón, Puerto Escondido, Ciudad Juárez, La Paz, Chetumal and Mazatlán.

Greater Connectivity with More than 100 Destinations in Europe

The increase in flights between Spain and Mexico will contribute to the flow of travellers and will improve connectivity on both sides of the Atlantic.

In its winter programme, Iberia will increase its routes in Spain and Europe, which will also enable passengers to connect with more than a hundred European cities.

For example, in Europe it will expand its services in several cities such as Milan, Rome, Lisbon, Brussels, Bordeaux and Geneva, and it will continue with its commitment to Funchal and Madeira, perfect destinations throughout the year.

In Spain, Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum will offer a flight programme focused on business traffic and on the Balearic and Canary Islands. In the winter season, Iberia will resume all its Madrid-Barcelona Air Shuttle flights, with 87 weekly frequencies and up to 15 daily flights in each direction.

On Board the Most Advanced Aircraft on the Market, the Airbus A-350

Since June 2020, Iberia has been operating this route with state-of-the-art Airbus A-350/900 aircraft, providing its passengers with all the features and improvements offered by the quietest aircraft on the market -equipped with two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines– and 35% greater fuel consumption efficiency.

With 348 seats 31 in Business class, 24 in Premium Economy and 293 in Economy– this aircraft model boasts high-speed Wi-Fi, panoramic windows, wider aisles and higher ceilings, conferring a greater sense of space, and an air-renewal system that improves the humidity levels on board by 11 to 16%.

Renewed In-Flight Experience

Each passenger is unique, and each trip is different, which is why in 2022 Iberia continues to work to offer its clients a personalised experience that anticipates their needs, offering new features and self-management options.

In June, the airline introduced its new in-flight meals by the DO & CO catering service, always with a firm commitment to sustainability and digitisation.

Iberia’s new digital concierge, available on its website, allows passengers to check out their flight’s meal options before travelling and once they are on board.

Another new service is free messaging throughout their flight for members of the Iberia Plus loyalty programme and those travelling in the Business Cabin.

Iberia flights to Mexico:

Additionally, the airline debuted its new uniforms, designed by Teresa Helbig, continuing with its support of Spanish talent. The Catalan designer is the first woman to collaborate with the airline, joining the ranks of great names who have designed Iberia’s uniforms, such as Manuel Pertegaz, Elio Berhanyer and Adolfo Domínguez, among others

Signalling travel recovery, New Zealand welcomes first cruise ship since 2020

August 12, 2022,

New Zealand has welcomed the first cruise ship to return since the coronavirus pandemic began, signalling a long-sought return to normalcy for the nation’s tourism industry. The country closed its borders in early 2020 as it sought at first to eliminate COVID-19 entirely and then later to control its spread.

New Zealand first cruise ship

Although the country reopened its borders to most tourists arriving by plane in May, it wasn’t until two weeks ago that it lifted all remaining restrictions, including those on maritime arrivals. The end of restrictions allowed Carnival Australia’s CCL, +1.93% Pacific Explorer cruise ship to dock in Auckland with about 2,000 passengers and crew Friday morning as part of a 12-day return trip to Fiji that left from Sydney.

Tourism Minister Stuart Nash said: “It’s another step in the reopening of our borders and a step closer to resuming business as usual.”

Nash said it would take some time for international tourist numbers and revenue to return to their pre-pandemic levels, when the industry accounted for about 20% of New Zealand’s foreign income and more than 5% of GDP.

TAP Air Portugal

TAP Air Portugal sees massive 526% increase in traffic between Europe and Brazil

TAP Air Portugal

TAP Air Portugal sees massive 526% increase in traffic between Europe and Brazil

August 11, 2022 –

TAP Air Portugal (TAP) experienced a massive 526% increase in customers carried between Europe and Brazil in the first six months of 2022, compared to the previous year.

TAP Air Portugal

The Portuguese flag carrier flew more than 640,000 customers on more than 3,100 flights, grabbing nearly a third (28%) of the whole market share of all customers flown between Europe and Brazil.

The new figures bolster the airline’s position as the leading carrier between Europe and Brazil.

During the first half of 2022 it operated 3,129 flights and was the third largest international airline in the number of take-offs, representing a huge increase of 130% compared to the same period in 2021.

This summer, TAP will operate 76 flights a week between Portugal and Brazil, the largest number of flights by a foreign airline flying to Brazil.

Ricardo Dinis, TAP Country Manager for the UK & Ireland, said: “Brazil is a core market for TAP and as the main international airline linking Europe and Brazil, we have matched the soaring customer demand with a significant boost in flights during the last six months.

“Portugal’s popularity as a gateway to Brazil continues to rise and our 86% capacity levels, compared to pre-pandemic flights, is an indication that TAP is increasing its market share.

“We are attracting more and more customers to fly to our extensive Brazilian destinations, many of which we are the only European carrier offering transatlantic connections.

“With a wide network of more than ninety destinations worldwide, the continued strengthening of TAP’s transatlantic frequencies is a strong sign of our continued recovery.”

TAP connects Europe to 11 cities in Brazil from its Lisbon hub, flying to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador. The airline also connects Porto with São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
TAP Air Portugal is the flag carrier of Portugal, based at Lisbon Airport and serves over 90 destinations across three continent.

Established in 1945, the European carrier has been a member of Star Alliance since 2005 and offers customers seamless connections through their Lisbon hub to destinations around the world, thanks to their highly-popular Portugal stopover programme.

Currently, TAP connects Portugal with three destinations in the United Kingdom – London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester – as well as offering flights to the Irish capital, Dublin.

The airline, which boasts one of the youngest fleets in Europe, currently operates a mix of short-haul and long-haul Airbus aircraft, from the state-of-the-art A330neo to the game changing single-aisle A321neoLR.

The carrier’s regional arm also operates a fleet of ATR and Embraer aircraft for those travelling a shorter distance.

Air India increases international flights to Canada

August 11, 2022 –

Air India will increase flights from Delhi to Vancouver, Canada, from three weekly to daily starting 31 August. The airline says the flight increase is a response to growing traffic between India and Canada, plus the return to service of the widebody Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft featuring a three-class configuration; first, business and economy.

Air India international flights

Air India, following its acquisition by Tata Group, is now deploying aircraft that were grounded for prolonged periods due to the Covid-19 pandemic and other reasons.

“The progressive restoration of these aircraft allows Air India to increase schedule resilience and support frequency and network increases over the coming months,” the airline said.

“This increase in our frequency between Delhi and Vancouver is very welcome for many reasons. It is another sign of recovery from the pandemic and caters to strong customer demand. More importantly, it marks the first step in restoring Air India’s fleet and international network,” said Air India MD and CEO Campbell Wilson.

W Costa Navarino brings style, originality, and vibrant energy to the Mediterranean

August 10, 2022 –

W Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary hotel brands, today announced the opening of W Costa Navarino. The highly anticipated debut of this Greek retreat brings a vibrant and creative energy to the Navarino Waterfront, the newest integrated resort area of Costa Navarino in the Mediterranean. The new W Escape is set within a scenic 32-acre site along a sandy beach, stretching along 1,500 feet of shoreline, and overlooking the protected and historic Bay of Navarino. Exclusively welcoming adults and young adults over 12 years old, W Costa Navarino introduces a place that fosters creativity, individuality, and freedom of expression.

W Costa Navarino

“Set against the unparalleled beauty of the Mediterranean, we are thrilled to introduce W Hotels to Greece with the opening of W Costa Navarino,” says Benoit Racle, Vice President, Brand Management, W Hotels Worldwide. “From upcycling materials to a bioclimatic design, W Costa Navarino features sophisticated architecture that leans into the broader sustainability efforts of the coastal enclave, presenting international travelers and local tastemakers an opportunity to capture the energy of Mediterranean culture. World-class dining and immersive programming celebrate authentic Mediterranean culture, promising an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experience at W Costa Navarino.”

Local Authenticity Meets Modernity in Refined Design
With architectural design led by renowned Greek architects Tombazis and Associates, W Costa Navarino takes inspiration from the region’s traditional architecture with cobbled paths, monolithic building and stone towers creating the feeling of a Greek coastal village. Using local materials, Costa Navarino’s dedication to sustainable practices is reflected in the hotel’s timeless design, unified within lush indigenous greenery and planted roofs overlooking the sea.

All guestroom, suite, and villa interiors celebrate the heritage of Greek artisans with a palette of neutral tones which are occasionally met with pops of color. Infused with the unexpected, thoughtful design elements of W Hotels, the interior design across the resort including the public areas and the culinary square – Platía – was led by London-based and globally focused studio MKV Design. Modern yet refined interpretations of traditional craftsmanship can be seen through the lighting and flooring, referencing the time-honored Greek basket weavers and leather chairs that offer a contemporary interpretation of regional saddler’s art.

The unique architectural design of the destination beach club Parelía as well as the Platía, were designed by Tombazis and Athens-based K-Studio, with the latter also leading interiors at Parelía. Moreover, the interior design at the sunset restaurant and bar, Between was created by Interior Design Laboratorium. Inspired by the local area and Greek heritage, the custom-designed W totem was crafted with reclaimed wood collected from old fishing boats, representing the notion of seafaring.

Setting the Tone, a Music and Artistic Hub
The passionate personality of W Hotels comes to life through the artistic and musical edge across the lush grounds. With its original music programming, guests at W Costa Navarino can enjoy a diverse, genre-defying programme including funky house, hot disco, afro-house, tribal and neo-soul. The Escape is set to host international and local DJs and musicians each season such as Alex Nude and Valeron & Band, to complement its roster of resident DJs including Ukrainian Rie Kiriiaka, Greek-Colombian DJ Montana Cruz and Greece’s own Vasilis Georgakopoulos.

W Costa Navarino ignites curiosity with contemporary art throughout the hotel, intended to provoke conversation among guests. The artwork curation is led by visual artist and curator Poka-Yio and a team of young artists by the Athens School of Fine Arts LAB12. It is closely linked to notions of inclusiveness and culture, aiming to have a deeper purpose and act as a means to explore and escape, surprise and challenge and ultimately contribute to what W Costa Navarino represents – a different hospitality experience.

Beach Front Dining and Mixology
W Costa Navarino is home to a number of culinary points, ensuring that – whatever the mood and whatever the hour – guests will have something that promises to please the palate.

W Lounge, at the heart of the Escape, offers a globally inspired menu alongside a range of palate cleansing spritzers, aperitifs and locally inspired, eco-conscious cocktails. Open all day, W Lounge is the perfect spot to dine, relax and take in the surrounding natural beauty and awe-inspiring sunsets.

Platía is a playful spin on the traditional Greek food market and is a destination for breakfast, daytime coffees, or a relaxed group dinner in the evening. The space evokes the informal buzz and energy of a marketplace with four separate “grab & go” outlets. The Café celebrates coffee culture with daily ground coffee selection and a roastery serving all specialty varieties, in addition to fresh juices and snacks throughout the day. For light bites and local delicacies, the Deli Store offers a selection of cold cuts of meat, cheese and regional specialities; the Bakery serves home-made daily baked indulgences, while the Cookery presents an open-style kitchen for morning breakfast and plays host to visiting chefs and pop-up concepts.

With a menu concept based on raw food, Between will offer cocktails and light dinner bites that celebrate the purity of flavor and aroma found in the natural form of ingredients – including oysters, clams, and premium caviar. Accompanied by live DJ sets and a cocktail menu focused on seasonality and simplicity, the aptly named Between will be the ideal setting for sipping a craft cocktail as the sun dips below the horizon.

The destination beach club is set to be the social hot spot of W Costa Navarino. Its name Parelía’s combines the Greek word ‘parea’, meaning friends socialising, with ‘paralia’, meaning beach. Created to encourage spontaneous moments of fun, the beach club will serve contemporary Greek Mediterranean cuisine, focusing on delectable sharing dishes accompanied by unexpected cocktail collisions. With DJs playing a mix of genres from Electro House to NuJazz and Fusion and live music throughout the day, Parelía naturally evolves from a casual beach mood for swimming and unwinding, to a high-energy venue for late night fun, dancing and partying by the sea.

Fit by the Sea
The WET Deck features a breath-taking infinity pool with views across the crystalline Ionian Sea and beyond, along with plenty of space to relax in the sun after a swim.

The AWAY® Spa offers an extensive menu of treatments to balance guests’ energy while FIT gym has a 25-meter outdoor heated swimming pool and the latest gym equipment for guests wanting to maintain their fitness routine at leisure. W Costa Navarino will also offer a programme of workout classes and wellness experiences designed for any fitness level, including beach boot camp classes, “Kalimera” yoga sessions, “5 Rhythms” dance movement meditation practice and beach power Pilates.

“W Costa Navarino celebrates a unique blend of energies immersed in a naturally beautiful setting. The new vibrant resort combines traditional elements from the Messinian culture with the unmistakable character and unique vibe for which W Hotels are known. From the thoughtfully refined and locally inspired design, with a strong focus on art to, diverse and energetic programming, W Costa Navarino is ready to make a mark in the Mediterranean hospitality scene,” said Nassos Papazoglou, General Manager of W Costa Navarino.

JetBlue Boston to London service

August 8, 2022 –

JetBlue has announced it has officially launched service from Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) to London’s Gatwick Airport (LGW). JetBlue’s daily nonstop service is part of the airline’s focus city strategy and its long-term transatlantic growth plans. London was the largest nonstop market not currently served by JetBlue from Boston and is among the most requested destinations from the airline’s large Boston customer base.

JetBlue Boston to London service

Last year, JetBlue launched its first-ever transatlantic service from New York-JFK to both Heathrow and Gatwick, London’s largest and busiest airports. The carrier plans to grow its transatlantic presence this year with new service from Boston Logan to London’s Heathrow Airport, launching September 20, 2022, and an additional Gatwick departure from New York starting October 29, 2022. Between JetBlue’s New York and Boston focus cities, the airline will offer five daily flights between the U.S. and the U.K. by October. JetBlue Boston to London service

“Our London service from New York has been an incredible success and we are thrilled to finally bring this highly anticipated service to our Boston customers, a route that has long suffered from high fares by legacy carriers,” said Robin Hayes, chief executive officer, JetBlue. “As Boston’s largest carrier, adding this nonstop service to Gatwick will only make us more relevant in our New England focus city and introduce JetBlue to a largely unserved market.”

“We are excited to welcome JetBlue’s first transatlantic service from Boston to London Gatwick,” said Massport CEO, Lisa Wieland. “We thank JetBlue for their continued partnership, and we look forward to the additional travel opportunities this will generate for our passengers.”

“We are thrilled that JetBlue is launching nonstop service between London and Boston. Visitors from the United Kingdom represent our top overseas source market,” said Martha Sheridan, Greater Boston CVB President & CEO. “Rebuilding this segment will be critical to the overall recovery of our visitor economy. We share many historical and cultural bonds with the UK and are so excited that JetBlue is investing in this route, which will surely be a great success!”

“We are delighted to welcome the launch of JetBlue’s new service between Boston and London. Demand for travel to the UK has returned to pre-pandemic levels, and the additional connectivity from Boston, a vital US market, will make it even easier for Americans looking to book their next trip over. As we head into the beautiful Autumn season, whether visitors are returning or discovering the UK for the first time, now is the perfect time to explore another side of Britain, filled with buzzing cities, exciting outdoor adventures, and iconic landmarks with a modern twist,” said Paul Gauger, VisitBritain’s Senior Vice President for the Americas.

Relais Chateaux 9 new members

Relais Chateaux 9 new members

Relais Chateaux 9 new members

August 8, 2022 – Relais Chateaux 9 new members!

Properties that respect the local environment and the communities that surround them, with kitchens responsibly sourcing every product: nine new members join the Relais & Châteaux family.

Relais Chateaux 9 new members:

Aramburu, Buenos Aires, Argentina
After honing his skills with the greatest, Chef Gonzalo Aramburu opened his restaurant in 2019 in one of the most picturesque passages of Recoleta, a chic district of Buenos Aires with beautiful 19th- and early 20th-century architecture.

The decor’s sophisticated dark hues and subdued lighting serve to highlight the vibrancy of the  restaurant. At its heart is a renowned 20-course tasting menu, served amid the dynamism of the open kitchen, showcasing locally-sourced and seasonal products paired with remarkable Argentine wines. To be a proud ambassador of his country’s culinary excellence and its vineyards: this is the calling of Gonzalo Aramburu.

 Huniik, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
Self-taught chef Roberto Solís is a fervent advocate of the cuisine of his native region of Yucatán, which has its roots in the Mayan civilization. His mission: to promote Mexican gastronomy and offer diners a warm and generous experience.

He opened Huniik in partnership with a renowned Cuban designer, Jorge Pardo, who conceived a decorative style inspired by traditional Mexican icons to complement the chef’s cuisine. The restaurant operates a zero-waste policy – an important part of Chef Solís’s philosophy. He highlights small producers of the peninsula, and serves only seasonal and emblematic products of the region, such as corn, picked daily.

By consciously highlighting the riches of the land and the labors of the region’s farmers, the property’s approach is entirely in line with the commitments of Relais & Châteaux.

Mélisse, Los Angeles, California, USA
Having been raised in Santa Monica and Venice Beach by a caterer mother and a French grandmother who loved to cook, it was perhaps inevitable that Josiah Citrin’s vocation would be in the culinary realm.

Today, with Mélisse now a Michelin two-star restaurant, Chef Citrin continues his quest for excellence by offering guests an exclusive gastronomic immersion amid decor created by local artisans.

With just five tables, fourteen guests can enjoy a unique, hosted dining experience: a nine-course tasting menu in which creativity is at the heart of the occasion, a reinvention of food and wine pairings, with products sourced from farmers in the Napa Valley, and a soundtrack drawn from his personal vinyl collection.

La Scène, Paris, France
A story of passion and family: this beautiful epicurean address, in the renowned Matignon district, has won two stars in the Michelin Guide just four months after opening.

Its chef and owner, Stéphanie Le Quellec, is a woman of character, leading a team that offers a concise French menu based on local products that move her. It pays tribute to artisans, producers and the value of ‘responsible’ cooking: these are her foundations.

In the heart of the chic eighth arrondissement of Paris, Stéphanie works like an innkeeper combining high gastronomy and excellence – combined with simplicity. From her open kitchen she conveys emotion as if on stage in a theater, part of a play in which she is the heroine.

Château de Maubreuil, Carquefou, France
Not far from Nantes, this five-star boutique hotel (part of Relais Chateaux 9 new members) enjoys an unparalleled history that evokes tales of exploration and anecdotes from across the centuries.

Once the home of the Marquis de Dion – a privateer shipowner, adventurer and pioneer of the French automotive industry and publisher of road maps (an activity that he transferred to Michelin) – this beautiful 17th-century residence is located in the heart of a fourteen-hectare wooded park with a permaculture vegetable garden.

Rooms here are lent evocative names: Burmese Nights, Babylon Gardens, Carnival in Venice, and so on… La Table du Marquis, its gourmet restaurant, is brilliantly led by Chef Quentin Gallouedec, who channels his Breton roots. The journey continues with a moment of well-being in the intimate Cinq Mondes spa. This romantic, authentic stopover in Pays de la Loire promises a destination vibrant with emotions.

Morukuru Family de Hoop, De Hoop, South Africa
A three-hour drive from Cape Town lies this design lodge, with five suites and a villa, in a private reserve where sandy dunes are populated with flamingo, ostrich, zebra and antelope.

It also faces the Indian Ocean where, from June to mid-October, whales can be seen on their annual migration. In its construction and operation, its owners endeavored to prioritize natural, recycled materials, and to reduce energy consumption to a minimum. In the restaurant, the native chefs favor local products and wines from the surrounding area.

The team, driven by a passion for the art of hospitality, pay great attention to detail in creating the most memorable of experiences. Many activities, including safaris, raise awareness about the protection of the environment, fauna and flora.

Central Park Voorburg, Voorburg, The Netherlands
This four-star hotel, with just fourteen suites, enjoys a privileged location in a grand residence from the 18th century, typical of the architectural constructions of the region.

Adjoining a deer park, just seven kilometers from The Hague, it is also something of a rural getaway, with the added bonus of a restaurant run by chefs Tim Bood and Hette Hettema.

Overlooking the park, they offer a creative menu featuring fresh products including fish and shellfish from the nearby coast. The mission of the new owner is to gradually transform the boutique hotel to reflect contemporary expectations, and to  meet environmental challenges while preserving quality.

Borgo Santandrea, Amalfi, Italy
Nestled in cliffs 90 meters above the sea, and overlooking an old fishing village, this five-star hotel’s 29 rooms and 16 suites offer breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast.

Having undergone a major renovation, its owners have integrated cutting-edge technologies while drastically reducing energy costs, limiting waste and eliminating plastics.

Most of the furniture and decorative elements, such as the earthenware tiles, come from local artisans’ workshops. There is a similar approach in the kitchen, with products sourced mostly from local producers. A private beach, pool, spa, bar and restaurants add to the charm of this little gem on the Mediterranean.

Hôtel & Restaurant Purs, Andernach, Germany
(another Relais Chateaux 9 new members)

Located in the historic part of Andernach, on the left bank of the Rhine, Purs is a harmonious kind of place: harmony between the traditional architecture, the exceptional size of the new wing, and the contemporary interiors by renowned Belgian designer and antique collector Axel Vervoordt.

Harmony, too, in the courtyard garden where wildflowers bloom; and harmony of the fine dining restaurant where chef Christian Eckhardt won two stars in the Michelin Guide soon after it opened… In his kitchen, Chef Eckhardt combines regional and seasonal products to offer creative but accessible cuisine.
