May 24, 2022 – First Radisson Collection hotel on the Adriatic coast opens in Pula, Croatia

Radisson Hotel Group is proud to announce the debut of its luxury lifestyle Radisson Collection brand in Croatia, with the opening of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel. This follows an extensive £30 million repositioning of the legendary Hotel Brioni, one of Croatia’s best-known hotels, by Radisson Hotel Group’s partner PPHE Hotel Group and its Croatian subsidiary Arena Hospitality Group.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

Pula is home to Istria’s main international airport and serves many holidaymakers each year as the starting point for their travels. It is a popular leisure destination steeped in Roman history, and provides easy access to the most historic sites, pristine nature and an outstanding coastline. The Grand Hotel Brioni Pula occupies a dramatic cliff-side location on the Adriatic, overlooking the Brijuni islands, which were the inspiration for the hotel’s name. It offers 227 rooms, infinity swimming pools, multiple restaurants and bars and sumptuous health and wellness facilities.

Originally built in the 1970s, the hotel was one of the most prominent tourist meccas in former Yugoslavia. In its heydays, with direct flights from the United States to Pula in the 70s, it was often a getaway for many celebrities, including artists, film stars and politicians. The 14 islets of Brijuni are the epitome of tranquility and exclusivity.

The interiors, designed by Studio 92 have the “wow” factor and will take your breath away. Throughout, the hotel features art by renowned Croatian artists, connecting the heritage of this iconic hotel with the modernity of today, and taking in the striking colors of the surrounding area. The interior design is enriched with Mediterranean materials and colors with Italian and Croatian stone including Botticino Classico, Grigio Amani, Kirmenjak and Kanfanar.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel features several restaurants and bars. With the freshness of ingredients at the heart of local Mediterranean cuisine, and paying significant attention to quality and provenance, all ingredients are sourced locally from trusted producers and artisans selected by our talented team of chefs. Restaurant Brioni Forum serves international specialties with an emphasis on local recipes, always insisting on fresh, local produce, such as truffles which are an integral part of the food history of Croatia’s most famous gastronomic region. Meanwhile, the beach restaurant Brioni Lungo Mare offers a choice of Mediterranean meat and seafood specialties for a lighter meal. Guests can also enjoy Restaurant Sofia, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.

“The opening of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel is a tremendous achievement for us, as we introduce our luxury lifestyle brand to this culturally rich city and region, the first on the Adriatic coast and our first in partnership with PPHE Hotel Group. Radisson Collection properties embrace and represent the local culture and design wherever they are located, and this is true here at Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel. Guests will be able to discover Croatian art, dine in one of the many restaurants and take in all that the Istrian Peninsula has to offer.” says Elie Younes, Global Chief Development Officer of Radisson Hotel Group.

Reli Slonim, President of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of Arena Hospitality Group, adds: ‘”We are excited to have our Grand Hotel Brioni Pula join the Radisson Collection brand, which represents Radisson Hotel Group’s finest hotels around the world. Our two-year repositioning programme of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula has been completed and has resulted in a true luxury experience in one of Istria’s most spectacular locations. This premium redevelopment paves the way for our other two premium hotel openings planned for Croatia in Zagreb (2022) and Pula (2023).”

The Wellness Centre, Gemma di Brioni, is the crowning glory of the hotel. It extends over two floors, with an indoor pool and whirlpool, three saunas and six treatment rooms. In addition to a 25 meter-long indoor pool, there is a 60 meter-long outdoor infinity pool with spectacular views of the ocean. In the fitness area and gym, guests can enjoy the availability of top-of-the-range Technogym equipment.

Digital technologies are an integral part of the hotel experience and guests are encouraged to use their mobile devices to access all of the hotel’s extensive services. These include opening guest rooms using a mobile digital key, the control of air-conditioning and lights via a smartphone, and the in-room TV. Even before stepping inside the hotel, guests can check-in online and head straight to their room.

With the health and safety of guests and team members as its top priority, Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel is implementing the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol program. The in-depth cleanliness and disinfection protocols were developed in partnership with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, and are designed to ensure guest safety and peace of mind from check-in to check-out. The Safety Protocol is an integral part of Radisson Hotel Group’s Safety and Security program ensuring we always care for our guests and team members.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair set for winter opening

May 23, 2022 –

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is expanding its presence in London with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London this winter. Sitting on historic Hanover Square, in the heart of London’s most stylish neighbourhoods, where fashion, media, art, and business intersect, the new property is a discreet, sleek and intimate sister property to the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

The property comprises 50 guestrooms and 78 private residences, offering hotel guests and residents an oasis of calm and Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service alongside a vibrant atmosphere in the public spaces. It will house the first namesake Akira Back restaurant in the UK from Michelin Star award winning Chef Akira Back, as well as his ‘ABar Lounge’ concept.  There will also be an urban spa, focussed on renewal and recalibration.

“We are incredibly excited to open a Mandarin Oriental hotel in the heart of such an iconic location. Mayfair has such a rich history and pedigree within luxury, fashion and art and is continually evolving. This is a wonderful parallel for our new property, which will introduce delightful touches for which Mandarin Oriental is loved, but in a more intimate and informal setting. We feel that our warm, club-like atmosphere, which flows throughout the hotel, is set to make Mandarin Oriental Mayfair a new destination of choice in the area,” says Susanne Hatje who joins as General Manager direct from the iconic Mandarin Oriental, New York.

Design and Interiors
Designed by internationally renowned Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (the talent behind the Lloyd’s building and the ‘Cheesegrater’ in London, as well as the Pompidou Centre in Paris), the building’s design has a rich historic context, given its location on the corner of Mayfair’s oldest square.

A strong sense of place has inspired the interior design of the hotel’s public spaces, created by Tokyo based studio, Curiosity, who have based their concept on ‘a hub of nature and art’. As an homage to the hotel’s cultural and creative neighbours, artworks by local British artists feature throughout the hotel with one-off furniture pieces curated by Curiosity’s founder, Gwenael Nicolas.

Restaurants & Bars
Chef Akira Back makes his UK debut at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair. Born in Korea and raised in Aspen, Colorado, Michelin Star award winning Chef Akira Back brings a sense of adventure and boundless creativity to his culinary creations. The Akira Back brand is a diverse portfolio of over 20 restaurants and lounges around the globe which pride themselves on creating innovative culinary experiences combined with a social atmosphere and elegant ambiance. The mission statement is to make unforgettable memories for guests by revolutionizing the dining experience through one-of-a-kind dishes and gracious service.

Wellness
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, will provide the perfect antidote to the fast pace of London life for hotel guests, residents and the local community, offering sublime serenity in the heart of Mayfair. The overall spa features an indoor 25-metre swimming pool, sauna, vitality pool, relaxation room and a myriad of bespoke wellness treatments that abound in a Mandarin Oriental spa.

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort Thailand opens in 2024 with 124 rooms

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

May 23, 2022 – The Kimpton Hua Hin Resort boutique luxury brand’s success story continues in partnership with AWC

Thailand – 23 May 2022: IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, is honoured to announce the signing of Kimpton Hua Hin Resort in collaboration with long-standing partner Asset World Corporation, Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real-estate group.

Opening in 2024, the 124-room resort will be the fourth Kimpton hotel in the Kingdom. Part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, the Kimpton brand’s popularity and growth in Thailand has accelerated at pace since its debut in Bangkok in 2020, thanks to its heartfelt service, boldly playful design and award-winning dining offers.

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

The agreement is part of a long-term strategic partnership between IHG and AWC to jointly manage a portfolio of properties across Thailand featuring more than 1,200 rooms which includes the highly anticipated 302-room InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping which will open this year. The announcement follows last year’s triple signing which included two hotels in Bangkok’s Chinatown – InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown and Vignette Collection Bangkok Chinatown, as well as Aquatique Pattaya, which is also part of IHG’s Vignette Collection.

A full renovation will see Kimpton Hua Hin Resort transformed from the former Imperial Hua Hin which closed in May 2019. Located on an idyllic beachfront, it will offer guests the choice of four restaurants & bars, a swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and meeting spaces.

Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG said: “We’re delighted to partner with AWC to bring our joint vision for Kimpton Hua Hin Resort to life. As the fourth Kimpton hotel to be signed in Thailand – following Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, Kimpton Kitalay Samui and Kimpton Khao Yai – the resort will further strengthen the brand’s positioning in Thailand and around the world, and establish it as a hotel of choice for travellers seeking one-of-a-kind experiences.

“IHG has 30 hotels in Thailand and more than 30 in the pipeline, and we are proud to continue working with AWC to grow sustainably – together – over the next few years. As travel returns, we know there are great opportunities for us throughout the country.

“Our recent IHG search data shows Hua Hin in the top 10 searched destinations in the region for international travellers. We look forward to Kimpton Hua Hin Resort quickly becoming a great success, and can’t wait to welcome both domestic and international guests through its doors in 2024.”

Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President, Asset World Corporation (Plc), AWC added: “AWC is confident that Thailand’s tourism industry has a strong long-term future, so we will continue to strengthen Thailand as one of the world’s most attractive destinations. The expansion of our cooperation with IHG further diversifies our hospitality portfolio and allows us to deliver even more impressive experiences while meeting a wider array of customer demands after Thailand reopens.

“Kimpton is an exciting brand offering thoughtful design and world class restaurants & bars. It will be a great brand to introduce to Hua Hin and elevate this lifestyle destination further. We’re confident that together with a global partner like IHG Hotels & Resorts, we will continue to lift the benchmark of Thailand’s tourism industry and bring new distinctive experiences across Thailand for both domestic and international guests.”

Hua Hin has been the seaside resort destination of choice for Thai royalty for almost a century and is well-established as a cosmopolitan weekend getaway destination for local residents. It is also popular with second-home investors seeking a stylish and scenic retreat away from the city, making it an ideal location for the design-led and distinctive Kimpton brand.

A two-and-a-half hour drive from Bangkok and just ten minutes from Hua Hin Airport, the destination of Hua Hin is famed for its white sandy beaches, picturesque golf courses and nearby Kaeng Krachan national park, the largest national park in Thailand featuring waterfalls, caves and hiking trails.

Thailand continues to be a strong growth market for IHG, and the signing of Kimpton Hua Hin Resort is the latest move by the company to grow its Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio in Thailand by 50%, as well as double its estate across all of its brands, in the country by 2026.

The Kimpton brand’s global expansion continues to move at pace, with 75 open hotels* and a 38-strong pipeline that will see it surpass more than 100 properties worldwide. In 2022, the opening of Kimpton Kitalay Samui in Thailand and Kimpton Margot Sydney in Australia further added to the brand’s growing presence in prime leisure destinations with Kimpton Naranta Bali opening soon.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Like many historic locales found throughout the Silver State, some of Nevada’s oldest history traces back to areas early explorers and pioneers were drawn to. In the scorching Mojave Desert heat, many pioneers were not drawn to the Spring Mountains for their spectacular scenery or even shady valleys, but for the water supply. The uncharacteristic bevy of natural cold springs in the area are what initially drew people to the picturesque valley in the 1830s, and interestingly enough, continue to do so to this day.

This lush oasis proved invaluable to exhausted pioneers forging West, following the Spanish Trail. This heavily-depended-upon pioneer stopover proved to be a reliable place to rest and stock up on supplies required for the remainder of their journey West.

By the 1870s, the area had attracted James Wilson and George Anderson, who had recently acquired a large amount of funds after their working ranch was purchased by a former business partner. With deep pockets and serious ambition, Wilson and Anderson took over the property, maintaining the two existing buildings and land. Additionally, James’ wife Annie and her two sons James Jr. and George Jr. occupied the land and expanded the existing cabin on-site during the 1870s. Tragedy struck in the early 1880s when Annie mysteriously vanished and was never seen or heard from again. James also dies in 1906, passing the ranch onto James Jr. and George Jr., who eventually sold the ranch in 1929.

 Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

The next owner of the ranch—Williard George—had even mightier dreams when getting hold of this iconic property. As a big-time fur coat maker for the Hollywood elite, George had plans to purchase the Spring Mountain Ranch and turn it into a chinchilla ranch to support his business. Though not difficult to predict, his grand idea eventually failed and the ranch turned hands again, this time to radio-turned-movie star Chet Lauck.

When the Wilson family originally got hold of the property in the 1870s, the blacksmith shop and original expanded cabin were the only structures on-site, rivaling some of the oldest buildings in the state of Nevada. When Chet Lauck moved on-site, he constructed the main house in 1948, which serves as State Park Headquarters for the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area today. By the 1950s, Spring Mountain Ranch commanded the attention of Hollywood stars—both foreign and domestic—due to its alluring remoteness and exotic beauty.

German movie star Vera Krupp honed in on Spring Mountain Ranch State Park property in 1955, after divorcing from coffee guru Alfred Krupp in Germany. With a brand new, immaculately constructed mansion on her hands, Vera was in heaven. Here, she spent her days rockhounding, hosting parties, ranching with the boys, and living life to the fullest in the Spring Mountains until she fell ill and needed to relocate to be closer to adequate medical care. Despite a serious personal interest in selling the property to the Nevada State Parks system in order to preserve the property, Howard Hughes snapped up the Spring Mountain Ranch in 1967.

Visiting Spring Mountain Ranch State Park Today

Skip the crowds at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and head for Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, which offers the same experiences without thousands of people. With six babbling springs on the property, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park owns all the water rites, and that alone is worth more than all 520 acres of land and all the buildings put together. Crazy, right? Be sure to take notice of the natural amount of water on the property, which is what makes such a deliciously manicured lawn possible for your enjoyment. Think about it: a lawn in the middle of the Mojave Desert? Not exactly something most people living or visiting in the region can enjoy—at Spring Mountain Ranch, this is arguably the largest, though simplest, attraction.

Reserve a large amphitheater-style area that is equipped to host 200 people, discover amazing hiking loops throughout the park (complete with charming picnic areas with featuring shade, barbecues and tables) and be sure to swing through the historic Main Ranch House for an even more detailed glimpse of the owners who once lived here. Ask about Living History Programs, Summer Theater, and special events like “Yoga on the Lawn” or “Paint with a Ranger” offered throughout the year.

Future Travel In Las Vegas: Likely Attractions In The Next Few Years

Future Travel in Las Vegas

Future Travel in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a city known for investing in ambitious projects and contracts with the intention to attract audiences from all around the country. Last year saw 32.2 million visitors come to Vegas and more are expected in the future. They already have a replica of Venice, and host the most important mixed martial arts and poker events on the planet. However, if there’s something this city is known for it is constantly trying to find new ways to capture the attention of tourists with attractive events and monumental architecture. As expected, in the next few years visitors will see the emergence of new and imposing structures, spectacular sports events, and maybe even new teams. Let’s take a look.

Moon Resorts Las Vegas

For the first time in history, commercial space travel has been made possible, although for a particularly high price. This renewed interest in space hasn’t gone unnoticed by a Canadian company, which has plans to invest $5 billion to build a resort inspired by the moon. By this, we don’t just mean a big hotel with moon-themed nightclubs or a planetarium. The company has revealed that this will be an actual replica of the moon, which will stand 735 feet tall.

Apart from the impressive structure that would make it seem like the moon has landed in the middle of the city, the main attraction has been described as a lunar colony. For $500 per visitor, people will be able to explore an area resembling the surface of the moon on a buggy, and visit “moon colonies” resembling those planned by NASA.

The MSG Sphere

The Venetian, one of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas, is known for sparing no expenses when it comes to building new attractions. The casino already hosts an impressive replica of the popular Italian city, together with channels and authentic Gondola drivers. But their next project is even more ambitious.

The MSG Sphere, a massive spherical structure of 336 feet tall, is expected to become the biggest building of its kind. Its function will be to host events and shows for as high as 20,000 spectators. The MSG Sphere is also going to have a 160,000 square foot LED display, and its potential uses are currently being discussed with Hollywood executives.

New Sports Teams

Up until recently, the city of Las Vegas was trying to become the home of a new professional sports team. This all changed in 2017 when the Las Vegas Golden Knights became the NHL’s newest expansion team, a decision that has received a warm welcome from its citizens. In fact, as stated in a Poker.org guide on exciting Las Vegas activities, fans were immediately “all-in” on the team, creating an electric atmosphere right from the start.

After the successful deal with an NHL team, Las Vegas managed to get The Raiders to move into the city back in 2020. Now there are even talks of an NBA expansion, which is something a city famous for hosting great sports events is likely to put a lot of effort into making a reality.

Super Bowl LIX

As we mentioned, Las Vegas has managed to attract some interesting sport-focused investors. These efforts have resulted in the city being recognized as a mandatory visit for enjoying sports like mixed martial arts, as the most prestigious and popular event, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is held in Las Vegas, together with important boxing matches.

But this is not enough for the city, and there has been a recent push for it to become the host of traditional sports tournaments. As a result, CBSSports.com reports that Vegas will host the Super Bowl LIX in 2024. The match will take place at the Allegiant Stadium, and will be televised by CBS in the U.S. and BBC One in the United Kingdom.

Las Vegas is a city known for constantly reinventing itself: from a paradise for poker enthusiasts to a destination offering family-friendly entertainment. The city has no problem spending billions appealing to the most varied preferences. The result is a city that will feature its own moon replica, the Super Bowl LIX, and probably a new NBA team; making sure that new generations develop an interest in visiting Las Vegas.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden will shine in new glory in 2023

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

May 19, 2022 – Extensive renovation of the first 5-star hotel in Saxony

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden will be extensively renovated in 2023. In 1995, the traditional hotel was opened as the first five-star hotel in Saxony and has since offered its guests a luxurious comfortable atmosphere in Dresden’s best historical location.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

Now, the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden lobby and rooms as well as the Café Vestibül are being extensively renovated according to the highest standards of contemporary and luxurious interior design and equipped with new highlights. At the same time, the technical installations are also being modernised under ESG aspects.

This extensive work cannot be carried out during ongoing operations. Therefore, the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden will close its doors for around ten months from 4 January 2023. A reopening is expected to take place in November 2023, so that the first guests can enjoy a stay in the new exclusive rooms in the Advent season 2023.

The hotel’s staff will remain on board during the renovation period, so that they can welcome guests as usual when the hotel reopens.

Markus Hilzinger, Studio Berlin, who has already accompanied several renovations of prestigious five-star hotels, acts as design author and interior designer. The lighting design is in the hands of Kardorff Ingenieure Lichtplanung from Berlin. Ronald Hetzke, hp developments, was chosen, as an experienced hotel planner, for the project management, and TSSB Architekten is also accompanying the renovation work on the culturally significant building.

The renovation activities, which also serve to preserve the value of the historical property, were decided by its owners, the RFR Group from Frankfurt and the RAG Foundation in Essen, in close cooperation with Kempinski. The owners as well as Kempinski are aware of the great cultural significance of the Taschenbergpalais.

For this reason, the highest attention is being paid to a modern appearance of the hotel area while at the same time taking into account and preserving the origin and tradition of the house. With the façade and the spa area having already been renovated in recent years and the Kastenmeiers restaurant having also moved in, the renovation work, now scheduled for the coming year, will be the crowning glory.

About Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden
Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski is a classic European grand hotel. Built by the Saxon king August “The Strong” in the 18th century as a pledge of love to his favourite mistress and faithfully restored in 1995, Grand Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski is a beautiful composition of Baroque art and contemporary elegance. It is located in the very heart of Dresden’s historic city centre, which also includes some of the city’s most renowned sights, such as the Semper Opera House, the Royal Palace and the Dresdner Zwinger. The hotel offers 213 elegant guestrooms and spacious suites. Dining options include the hotel’s French restaurant, the lobby café and the hotel bar with its remarkably large selection of whiskies. All of them offer large summer terraces. The hotel’s Bel Etage, with views of Dresden’s historic city centre, provides a proper setting for meetings, conventions, exclusive dinners or unforgettable cocktail receptions. All six function rooms feature connecting doors and are individually accessible through the Baroque double-barrelled staircase, which can provide a beautiful background for elegant receptions. Additionally, the divisible meeting space – the ballroom and the 800 sq m (8,611 sq ft) inner courtyard – can host events for up to 500 persons each. The Taschenbergpalais spa and pool area features an indoor pool, and a sauna and wellness area, making it the perfect place to relax and ease your body and mind.

May 18, 2022 –

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, is proud to announce the signing of InterContinental Resort Crete – marking the luxury brand’s debut on the Greek island.

InterContinental Greece

Set to open in spring 2023, IHG is developing this unique hotel in partnership with Henderson Park, the private equity real estate firm, and Hines, the international real estate firm.

InterContinental Resort Crete will feature 205 guest rooms, all boasting private verandas – and half featuring private jacuzzies – as guests are offered the brand’s signature slice of InterContinental life while enjoying their stay in one of Europe’s leading resort destinations.

Providing idyllic views over Mirabello Bay, the hotel may be directly accessed from a seafront promenade, making it the only property in Agios Nikolaos to offer such great accessibility to its guests. It is ideally located less than an hour’s drive from Crete’s capital Heraklion, and Heraklion International Airport.

Willemijn Geels, VP Development Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “InterContinental is the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand and has been renowned by guests as the epitome of luxury hotel experience for the past 75 years. We are delighted to be partnering with Henderson Park and Hines to introduce the brand in Crete and look forward to bringing our shared vision to life.

Philippe Couturier, Managing Director at Henderson Park, said: “Our success in attracting the InterContinental brand, one of the world’s leading luxury hotel names, to commit to this resort in Crete is a strong endorsement for its quality and appeal, as well as the huge potential we believed it offered from the outset. InterContinental Resort Crete is an exciting addition to Henderson Park and Hines’ Greek hospitality portfolio, and we hope that this agreement will mark just the first stage of building a rewarding long-term relationship with IHG at this exceptional property.”

Paul Gomopoulos, Senior Managing Director and Country Head of Hines in Greece added: “We’re proud to be working with IHG Hotels & Resorts on this truly unique property. Our joint venture has established a strong track record in the Greek hospitality market, and we are delighted to partner with IHG and look forward to harnessing the power of its global enterprise and utilising its market-leading expertise.

“With a prime location and unrivalled facilities, InterContinental Resort Crete will be the first choice of guests seeking a luxury stay on the island. There are many exciting developments planned for Crete, and we’re confident that our new hotel will be at the heart of the island.”

The interior of InterContinental Resort Crete is inspired by elements of the sea, air and rock, and enriched with local history, materials and craft, offering guests the ultimate combination of peace and relaxation. The entrance lobby, lounge and reception will feature an exposed rock face lit from above by a water-filled skylight, drawing from the island’s scenic coastal character.

When it comes to relaxing, the hotel will offer something for every guest with four restaurants, three bars and a range of facilities including a pool terrace, indoor spa, infinity pool deck and rooftop pool. There will also be a wellness and fitness leisure centre, while those looking to work can visit the extensive, fully equipped range of meeting spaces.

The data shows that flight bookings are already overtaking pre-pandemic levels with bookings from the UK up 101%.

The global tourism body says the sector’s contribution to the economy and employment could have been higher if it weren’t for the impact of the Omicron variant, which led to the recovery faltering around the world, with many countries reinstating severe travel restrictions.

Mercure Amsterdam North Station opens in Gare du Nord

May 16, 2022 –

Mercure has opened up the doors to a new stylish four-star hotel next to metro station Noord in Amsterdam. The North/South metro line takes just minutes to reach the city center, making Mercure Amsterdam North Station the perfect home base for visitors of the capital.

Mercure Amsterdam

The Mercure Amsterdam North Station offers 110 modern rooms, all equipped with the comforts you would expect from a Mercure hotel, such as free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds and a flat-screen TV. The common areas consists of a fully equipped 24/7 gym, great coffee bar, breakfast restaurant and a sky bar with stunning views for a special night out.

The hotel’s design is inspired by water, reflecting Amsterdam’s world-renowned water-ways and encouraging guests to be inspired by water and ‘go with the flow’. The result is a stunning hotel designed with a natural palette of pastel colours brought to life with textures and patterns to evoke the natural flow and gentle pace of water.

Dutch design – tranquillity and soft materials
Mercure Amsterdam North Station is carefully designed by Dutch designer Charlotte Emmerig of design agency Lotz. Emmerig used the water-rich landscape as a source of inspiration and created a hotel with a cosy tranquillity and where soft and transparent materials are used everywhere. Mercure Amsterdam North Station feels like a home away from home.

A new hotel for a new neighbourhood
The newest flagship of Mercure is located in the increasingly popular and upcoming neighbourhood Amsterdam-Noord, with attractions such as Eye Film Museum, A’dam Lookout and the NDSM wharf close by. Gare du Nord is a new area in Amsterdam-Noord, where homes and schools are being built and a thriving new local community. Mercure Amsterdam North Station is located in a new-build development right next to the metro station Noord; the start/end point of the North/South line. Due to this excellent connection, the city center is within easy reach, but also crowd-pullers such as RAI Amsterdam. The hotel is also close to several nature reserves to the north of the capital. Ideal for both international and national tourists and families.

The Mercure brand, which is part of the international hospitality group Accor, is known for its locally inspired hotels. Combining detailed décor and staff knowledgeable of the local area, Mercure aims to ensure that guests are immersed in their destination, inviting guests to discover local people, places, stories and experiences. The hotels are popular with travellers looking for unique experiences and globally renowned high levels of service.

Roos Bruyn, General Manager of Mercure Amsterdam North Station: “We cannot wait to welcome guests to our beautifully designed new hotel. We have used many Dutch based products in the design of our hotel, from the wallpaper, flooring to the unique indoor lighting features in our beautiful 110 hotel rooms. As we know that our guests loves to have an authentic local inspired stay, we will make sure that our team provides our guest the insights of all those hidden Amsterdam gems for a real Dutch experience. We invite our guests to go with the flow, to enjoy every moment, to embrace the city and relax in the hotel and enjoy the beautiful and calm design inspired by our fantastic location.”
