Hotel Fluela – Hyatt Continues to Expand Luxury Portfolio in Switzerland

December 26, 2022 – Hotel Fluela

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with Davos Luxury Properties AG for Hotel Flüela.
Currently operating on an unbranded basis, the 50-room luxury hotel is expected to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in 2023 after an extensive refurbishment. The agreement demonstrates Hyatt’s commitment to the continued and significant growth of its luxury brands in Europe, as well as an ongoing commitment to offer unique, story-worthy experiences to guests and World of Hyatt members.

Hotel Fluela

Situated in the heart of Davos Dorf, home to one of Switzerland’s largest ski resorts and the World Economic Forum, Hotel Flüela has played an integral role in the town’s transformation from remote Alpine village to the globally recognized business and lifestyle destination it is today. In 1868, the property’s pioneering founder Andreas Gredig reimagined his father’s inn to open the first hotel in Davos as Hotel Flüela. The astounding 155-year history of this hotel is intertwined with that of its guests – ski enthusiasts, world dignitaries and explorers who have experienced traditional Swiss hospitality at Hotel Flüela over the last century.

“Today’s announcement signals Hyatt’s commitment to delivering on our ambitious growth plans for our luxury portfolio across Europe, bringing our diverse brands to some of the region’s most sought-after destinations, says Briana Swift, director of development, Western Europe, Hyatt. “Hotel Flüela is a beloved landmark, intrinsically linked to the international acclaim Davos holds. It will be a perfect addition to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, inspiring guests to discover their own stories amongst the town’s rich history.”

With thousands of business and leisure travelers visiting Davos each year, Hotel Flüela is enviably positioned to ensure guests make the most of their stay. Located directly opposite the Davos train station, the hotel is also a two minute walk from the vast slopes of the legendary Parsenn ski resort. Guests will be able to enjoy one of 50 elegantly designed guestrooms, taking in the impressive vistas of the surrounding snow-topped mountains.

“It’s a pleasure to work alongside Hyatt for this next step in Hotel Flüela’s impressive history,” says Jamie Negus, General Manager, Hotel Flüela “We look forward to combining our expertise with Hyatt’s in theluxury hospitality space to position Hotel Flüela as the hotel of choice for the many high-end travelers looking for world-class service and elevated experiences whilst visiting Davos.”

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand is a distinct collection of extraordinary and inspiring properties, encouraging guests to experience one-of-a-kind stays in some of the world’s most celebrated destinations. Hotel Fluela is set to be the second Swiss property to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, and will join the previously announced hotel in development in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, which is expected to open in winter 2023.

Other Hyatt European properties within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand include: Hôtel Reisen in Sweden, The Wellem in Germany, Il Tournabuoni Hotel in Italy, Hôtel du Louvre, Hôtel du Palais Biarritz and Hôtel Martinez in France, La Zambra in Spain, Magma Resort Santorini in Greece, Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest in Hungary, Great Scotland Yard Hotel in the United Kingdom. Costa Toscana

Costa Toscana Arrives In Dubai For Her First Middle East Season

Costa Toscana

Costa Toscana Arrives In Dubai For Her First Middle East Season

December 23, 2022 – Costa Toscana

With the arrival of Costa Toscana, Costa Cruises is consolidating its presence in the Dubai market.

The Costa Group opened the Dubai Harbour Cruise Port in December 2021, making it the city’s most sophisticated cruise terminal. The Costa flagship, which commenced service in March of this year, made its maiden visit to the terminal. Officials from the host city and country, in this case, Italy, were invited to a celebration aboard the ship during her first voyage.

Costa Toscana

Costa Toscana’s winter 2022/23 itinerary schedule out of Dubai will feature seven-day cruises across the Arabian Gulf. From 17 December 2022 to11 March 2023, a total of 13 cruises will be offered as part of a “flight+cruise” package that includes airfare and hotel accommodations, so guests need not bother about getting to and from the airport or carrying around heavy suitcases.

Long calls in Dubai, Muscat, and Abu Dhabi of up to two days and one night are planned for travel between now and 14 January 2023. In order to ring in the New Year in style, the New Year’s Eve cruise will make only one overnight call—to Dubai. From 14 January to 11 March, the ship will sail to several Middle Eastern cities like Dubai, Doha, Muscat, and Abu Dhabi.

Costa provides a broad selection of tours to see these great sites from a unique perspective, which blends the modernism of futuristic architecture with the attractiveness of the desert and old traditions. For example, a distinctive trip in Dubai is the helicopter tour, which provides a stunning view of this amazing metropolis. The off-road desert excursion is also not to be missed. Guests in Muscat may take a Dhow tour along Oman’s coast, a traditional wooden boat, or an excursion to the beautiful canyon of Wadi Al Arbeieen, with its lakes and pools of water sculpted out of Oman’s colourful mountains.

Guests in Abu Dhabi can visit one of the city’s three most famous theme parks: Ferrari World for those who enjoy speed and racing, Warner Brothers World for those who want to meet their favourite cartoon characters, and Yas Waterworld, a massive water park with 43 attractions such as slides, water games, and swimming pools.

Visit the Louvre, a genuine marvel of contemporary architecture where you can view pieces of art from all over the globe, or rest on the exclusive beach of Al Maya Island, a genuinely earthly paradise just minutes from Abu Dhabi.

You may combine your passion for golf with your love of sailing by booking the “cruise & golf” package, which offers guests the chance to play at some of the most magnificent Arabian Gulf golf courses while the ship is docked there.

The onboard amenities of the Costa Toscana will also be adapted to each specific port of call. Let’s begin with the chef trio of Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze, and Angel León and their culinary offering.

These three Michelin-starred chefs will provide a culinary introduction to the cruise ports with their interpretations of local specialities, called Destination Dishes, served in the ship’s signature restaurants. Each of the three chefs at the Archipelago restaurant has created a menu that aims to reflect the cuisine of the region through which the restaurant is passing.

An unparalleled and stunning production dubbed “Essence,” modelled after the “Arabian Nights” atmospheres of the Arabian Gulf will make its premiere as part of the ship’s entertainment schedule.

The Costa Toscana is a floating “smart city” that runs on liquefied natural gas and has cutting-edge technical advancements to lessen its adverse environmental effects.

The interiors were designed to highlight and bring to life the colours and mood of this great Italian region. They are the outcome of an exceptional creative endeavour organised by Adam D. Tihany.

All of the furnishings, lighting, textiles, and accessories are “Made in Italy” and were designed by 15 companies, which are excellent examples of Italian design.

Everything from the Solemio Spa to the entertainment spaces, the thematic bars created in partnership with major Italian and worldwide businesses, and the ship’s 21 restaurants and “food experience” zones are seamlessly woven into this unique setting.

The Squok Club, a new video gaming area, and the Splash AcquaPark, located on the ship’s uppermost deck, are geared for the ship’s younger guests.

There is a wide range of heritage sites to explore within the hotel’s vicinity, such as the 15th century Saint-Eloi Belfry monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Dunkirk, which offers breathtaking views of the coastline about 58 meters above sea level. The Dunkerque 1940 Operation Dynamo Museum, found inside the bunkers of Bastion 32, guides visitors through the events of Operation Dynamo, the largest military evacuation in history and a Second World War turning point.

Naviva Mexico

Naviva Mexico, Welcomes Guests to the Brand’s First Adult-Only Luxury Tented Resort in the Americas

Naviva Mexico

Naviva Mexico, Welcomes Guests to the Brand’s First Adult-Only Luxury Tented Resort in the Americas

December 22, 2022 – Naviva Mexico

A luxury tented resort as unique as nature itself, Naviva®, A Four Seasons Resort, Punta Mita, Mexico is now welcoming guests to a world where the deep, green jungle is the backdrop for a profoundly personalized retreat.

Naviva Mexico

Naviva Mexico, With just 15 luxury tents surrounded by 48 forested acres (19 hectares) on the edge of a private peninsula, Naviva is an adult-only sanctuary that harnesses nature to create an environment that fosters community, personal growth and appreciation for local heritage. Naviva awakens the intrinsic bond that humans have with nature through biophilic design – an architectural approach that immerses people in their natural surroundings. The transformative journey begins as soon as guests arrive, meeting their personal guide on a cocoon-inspired bamboo bridge overlooking a dramatic forest ravine.
“Naviva Mexico builds on the success of our more than 20 years in Punta Mita, reinforcing everything that our guests love about this idyllic destination while offering an entirely new experience,” says Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President, Global Operations, Hotels and Resorts. “This exceptional project is a testament to our dedication to innovating the guest experience and creating unique concepts within our portfolio that meet guest needs in meaningful, personalized ways.”

“We welcome guests to Naviva Mexico as if they are friends joining us at our own home, while giving them the space and flexibility for their own self-discovery and adventure,” says Ronny Fernández, Resort Manager, Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort. “Together with my team, we’re honoured to unveil this one-of-a-kind experience to the world, showcasing the wonders of Mexico – from embarking on a shamanic sound journey to finding a new level of focus while spearfishing – in a distinctly Four Seasons way.”
Fernàndez continues, “The joy of my role is being able to personally guide guests through these experiences and help them connect more deeply with the wonders around them.”
Biophilic Design: Living in Nature
Through the lens of biophilic design and biomimicry – in which the natural world is the driving influence for design solutions – the natural beauty of Mexico was the key source of inspiration when Naviva was conceptualized with Luxury Frontiers, an award-winning design firm and pioneer in the alternative lodging sector. All building forms, interior designs, and guest experiences tie back to a natural phenomenon, creating a resort concept that is fully derived from nature.

Naviva Mexico blurs the border between the natural and manmade worlds with 15 luxury tents that are designed to be at one with the surrounding jungle. Spacious indoor and outdoor areas invite the verdant sights and sounds of Riviera Nayarit’s unique flora and fauna. An open-air living room and separate bedroom flow to a private plunge pool and expansive outdoor living area, where a hammock, firepit and outdoor shower offer forest-framed refuge. Inside, textures and fabrics reflect natural patterns found in the environment. Oversized bathrooms house deep soaking tubs and skylit showers that reveal uninterrupted visual connections to the outdoors.

The team collaborated with Mexican artists, craftspeople, and manufacturers throughout the design and construction process, not only to support local businesses but also to create spaces with an authentic connection to Mexico’s culture. Highlights include custom furniture from Taracea and Baufaktory; artwork from Emma Boomkamp; reclaimed wooden games from Rasttro; and textiles from Anora Casa.
Life at Naviva: Daily, Signature and Unscripted Experiences
Naviva’s untamed natural setting organically sets the stage for individual transformation through Daily, Signature and Unscripted Naviva experiences that are each rooted in one or more biophilic design principles.
Daily Naviva Mexico experiences focus on movement, gastronomy and cultural insight. Guests may embark on a nature hike to the Aztatlán ruins, savour the ocean’s natural bounty during a “seacuterie” tasting or learn about Aztec culture at a Metztli mythology session.
Signature Naviva experiences bring heritage, tradition and local expertise to the forefront while rooting guests in the natural environment. Guests may challenge their mind and body in the House of Heat, a temazcal designed specifically for Naviva; catch fresh snapper along the Resort’s rocky shoreline; or visit a local artist at their private home and studio.
Contributing to the biophilic principle of mystery as a sensory experience, Unscripted Naviva moments occur spontaneously and may include a surprise picnic in the jungle or exploring little known, small batch Mexican wines.
Nurturing the Mind, Body and Soul
Naviva features a series of intimate wellness spaces including two spa pods tucked away in the forest, a House of Heat temazcal, a cliffside terrace, an open-air gym and nature trails. Each area promotes human connection to nature by grounding guests in tangible and intangible aspects of the environment.
Guests are welcomed directly into their private spa pod to fully use the space how they wish. Inspired by the seed of the local Ceiba tree, each cocoon-like spa structure offers a sense of safety that invites shifts in internal energy. Between transformative spa rituals, guests can spend time in each spa pod’s personal garden, outdoor shower or timber soaking tub.
The House of Heat invites guests on a personalized temazcal journey guided by a dedicated curandero to produce a mind-body awakening. Guests can choose from several focus areas, such as gratitude or devotion, to drive their customized experience. The House of Heat includes a ceremonial fire pit with seating inspired by traditional Mayan stools, a pre- and post-ceremony gathering space and an outdoor shower area.
Naviva guests will also discover wellbeing experiences rooted in the environment at Risco Terrace, where yoga practices include powerful vinyasas and restorative flows, and the outdoor Mar Gym overlooking the Pacific, where strength training workouts incorporate existing formations such as boulders and trees. Guests can find rest and rejuvenation at the Resort’s Selva Pool nestled in the jungle or at La Solana Beach, a private 575-foot (175-metre) expanse of Pacific beachfront.

Culinary Experiences with a Sense of Place
Central to the Resort’s fluid and informal style, every Naviva stay includes all meals, snacks and beverages – including many premium wines and spirits – whenever a guest may wish. Guests can choose to enjoy fresh seafood at Copal Cocina, graze on light bites inspired by local harvest at Selva Pool or enjoy a personalized menu on the deck of their private luxury tent. Exciting dining experiences abound, from impromptu molcajete lessons to chef-prepared dinners in the forest. In-tent dining is also available around the clock.
At the heart of Naviva, Copal Cocina welcomes guests to an open-air kitchen and living room where they may meet a local coffee roaster, pop a bottle of Mexican wine with a sommelier or join Chef Sofia Barrera behind the open-fire grill. With no more than 30 guests at any given time, Copal Cocina offers unique dining experiences that integrate uncommon ingredients and flexible daily offerings that can be adjusted to each guest’s preferences. Local purveyors – including farmers and fishermen – periodically visit the kitchen, allowing guests to develop a deeper connection to the local community.
Honouring Nature Through Sustainability
Naviva’s authentic connection to nature is rooted in its thoughtful conception, which began with the rehabilitation of the land on which it now resides. The development team carefully surveyed the land to build around existing trees and preserve the peninsula’s lush vegetation, hand-placing tents into the existing environment to minimize disruption to the surrounding forest. Select trees were relocated or salvaged for hand-carved timber hooks placed in each luxury tent, and natural stone found onsite was repurposed for benches. The team also took significant measures to protect animal life by creating new paths that mimic the colours of soil and rocks and using specific lighting types to limit light pollution.
Throughout the property, the design team utilized light-on-earth, low-impact construction materials such as reclaimed wood, local stone, copper, bamboo and concrete. In addition, natural ventilation made possible by the region’s prevailing winds limits air conditioning to only the most essential spaces.
As an advocate for sustainable water sourcing, Naviva partnered with SOURCE Water to bottle all drinking water onsite using hydropanel technology that extracts clean, pollutant-free water from the air.
A Retreat Close to Home
Naviva’s location creates the feeling of being disconnected in a faraway destination, when in reality it is only a short flight away from the US and Canada to Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and then just 45 minutes drive to the private peninsula of Punta Mita.
All-encompassing Naviva stays start at USD 3,950 per night and include all meals, snacks and drinks including specialty meals prepared to enjoy throughout the property, one 60-minute spa treatment per guest, daily practices and rituals, and Unscripted Naviva experiences. Signature Naviva experiences, rare or custom-ordered beverages, additional spa treatments, private classes or training and airport transfers are available for an additional cost.
Naviva guests also enjoy full access to the adjacent Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, located five minutes away. The Resort features ten restaurants and bars, two golf courses, three pools, two beaches and additional spa and fitness facilities.

Budapest Airport Unveils 4 New Routes

Wizz Air Vienna continues growing

Wizz Air Vienna

Wizz Air Vienna continues growing

December 21, 2022 – Wizz Air Vienna

Wizz Air Vienna, Europe’s fastest growing and most environmentally sustainable airline globally*, announced this week further expansion from Vienna, allocating one more Airbus A321neo aircraft to its base in the Austria’s capital city.

Wizz Air Vienna

The allocation of the new aircraft is enabling the launch of two new routes, starting from June 2023, as well as increased frequency on five routes from Vienna International Airport. The tickets are already available at wizzair.com or on the Wizz Air’s mobile app.

The allocation of an additional aircraft to the Wizz Air Vienna base will grow the base to six aircraft. The move brings the total number of the airline’s routes from Vienna to 38, including two newly launched. Passengers will now be able to fly with Wizz Air from Vienna to Bilbao (Spain) and Kuwait City (Kuwait). Furthermore, the additional capacity allows Wizz Air to increase the frequency of its flights from the base to Madeira (Portugal), Nice (France), Tel Aviv (Israel), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and Yerevan (Armenia).

Robert Carey, President of Wizz Air, said at the press conference: “Austria is an important market for Wizz Air and remains in our focus for continuous investment. Following today’s celebration of the first flights from Vienna to Jeddah and Riyadh, we are pleased to announce an addition of one more aircraft, growing Wizz Air’s Vienna base to six aircraft. With the new aircraft, we will expand our route network with two new routes to Kuwait City and Bilbao, increase frequency on five routes and add capacity of 350,000 seats for the Austrian market. This expansion further strengthens Wizz Air’s commitment to the Austrian market, operating Vienna’s only all-NEO fleet. We now offer the total of 38 routes to and from Vienna, providing connections to 25 countries in Europe and beyond.”

Focus on sustainability

Including the new aircraft announced today, Wizz Air will have six Airbus A321neo aircraft stationed at its Vienna base in the future. The young and modern fleet is equipped with the latest aviation technology, which brings numerous advantages and supports the airline’s ambitious sustainability strategy. The Airbus A321neo has reduced fuel emissions and noise pollution by half, and fuel consumption by 20 percent, compared to previous models. In addition, Wizz Air has the lowest carbon dioxide emissions per passenger kilometer of any airline in Europe and has committed itself to reducing emissions by a further 25 percent by 2030 compared to 2019 levels. Robert Carey noted: “We are currently the largest operator of A321neo aircraft in Europe and the only airline based in Vienna with all Airbus A321neo fleet. When it comes to decarbonizing aviation, Wizz Air is laser focused on the technology and innovation available here and now. We are confident that by investing in the most modern aircraft we will be able to continuously reduce passengers’ carbon footprint.”

In addition, Wizz Air Vienna recently became a member of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA), a voluntary initiative launched by the European Commission to pave the way for next-generation sustainable aircraft. “We are pleased to have joined AZEA and to collaborate with its members on ongoing research and development for hydrogen aircraft operations. It is imperative that all stakeholders – from airlines and airports to regulators and fuel providers – coordinate to ensure the infrastructure is ready to deploy this technology at scale. Our goal is to offer the most sustainable air travel possible through multifaceted collaborations, innovations and investments that are also affordable – because Wizz Air will continue to be the greenest choice for flying,” Carey added.

Ambitious growth up to 2030

Wizz Air has already opened three new bases in 2022, added over 230 new routes to its network and 34 aircraft to its fleet, continuing to pursue an ambitious growth strategy. To achieve this growth, Wizz Air is continuously expanding its team of dedicated personnel, both on the ground and in the air. By 2030, Wizz Air aims to employ 20,000 people and offer up to 2,000 people a year a promising and exciting job. In Vienna, Wizz Air is also looking for new staff as part of the expansion of its fleet to become a member of Team Pink and help make a lasting difference to air travel. The airline welcomes applications from anyone, with or without training, and career changers are also welcome. Interested parties can check open positions on WIZZ’s careers page and also apply for advertised positions right away.

Robert Carey said: “Wizz Air is an ambitious and growth-oriented airline with a strategy to expand its fleet to 500 aircraft within the next decade. Growth and sustainability go hand in hand at WIZZ, which is why we place particular emphasis on the numerous benefits we offer our employees. We have coped well with the crisis, operating today 135% of our pre-COVID capacity, and are already strategically positioning ourselves for the future with new employees.” Wizz Air Vienna

The baptism of Jesus in 2030 – its 2nd millenium – will be celebrated by Jordan

The baptism of Jesus in 2030

The baptism of Jesus in 2030 will be celebrated by Jordan

Jordan has launched a $100 million master plan aimed at attracting 1 million Christian pilgrims to celebrations of the second millennium of the baptism of Jesus in 2030.

The baptism of Jesus in 2030 will likely look very different from what we have seen in the past.  The baptismal site, Jordan River, and other traditional elements of Jesus’ baptism could be simulated in 3D and experienced by a global audience.

The baptism of Jesus in 2030

The ambitious $100 million master plan was unveiled by a foundation created by the Jordanian government to develop the “Bethany Beyond the Jordan” area, on the east bank of the Jordan River, long venerated as the place of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist. Archaeological discoveries of an ancient monastery at Al-Maghtas, Jordan, became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2015.

Samir Murad, chair of the new foundation, said his group plans to provide Christians access to visit and worship at the site while respecting its integrity.
U.N. backs Jordan’s claim on site where Jesus was baptized

“We wanted to provide pilgrims a chance to be able to spend quality time at the location of the baptism while respecting its spirituality and the UNESCO World Heritage site conditions,” said Murad, a businessman and former minister of labor.

Murad’s team rejected proposals for five-star hotels and fine dining and instead opted for “glamping”-style lodging for more down-to-earth accommodations. “We decided on a biblical village theme that attempts to re-create a 2,000-year-old experience,” he said.

Visitors will have a choice of eateries serving local organic food, “centered on the wilderness and plants mentioned in the Bible,” Murad said. Electricity and WiFi lines will be placed underground so as not to clutter the aboveground experience.

Murad said the initial phase of the project will cost about $15 million. A second phase, which will include a three-star hotel, restaurants, shopping area, museum, wellness center, nature sanctuary and “opportunities for pilgrims to have special quiet spiritual time,” will cost as much as $85 million.

It was unclear, he said, how the project in its entirety will be funded.
“Our initial goal is to raise the needs for the first phase so that people can see and feel what we plan to do,” Murad said.

Perspective: Did historical Jesus really exist?
Nine faith organizations have been officially granted the opportunity to build a place to welcome pilgrims to the baptism site.

One of the nine is the Baptist World Alliance, a network of Baptist churches around the globe, which is partnering with the Jordanian Baptist Convention on constructing the Baptist outpost in Bethany Beyond the Jordan.

The deadline for both phases “is set for 2029, to be ready for the 2,000-year anniversary of the baptism of Jesus at the River Jordan.”

Aer Lingus adds Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy) to its Euro destinations

Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus adds Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy) to its Euro destinations

December 16, 2022 –

Aer Lingus has unveiled a bumper 2023 summer schedule which will see it fly to 53 European destinations from Ireland, including three new exciting summer routes to Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy).

Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus also has over 2.25 million transatlantic seats on sale, making it the airline’s largest ever North American summer schedule to date. Next summer the airline will operate 15 routes from Ireland, including Cleveland for the first time and the return of Hartford, Connecticut. It will also operate two* direct transatlantic routes from Manchester to JFK and Orlando.

The summer 2023 schedule reflects the huge resurgence in leisure travel and the increasing demand for European sun destinations, particularly the Mediterranean. Aer Lingus is increasing its peak summer capacity to Malaga and Faro from both Cork and Dublin. It is also increasing capacity on other popular European routes including, Alicante, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Perpignan, Izmir, Bordeaux, and Athens from Dublin.

Tapping into Travel Trends

Industry insights reveal growing travel trends for 2023, with Forbes highlighting two interesting motivations for choice in 2023 – a feeling of familiarity when travelling as well as the quest to follow a path less travelled. Condé Nast Traveller’s fifth annual travel summit also reports very similar travel motivations for 2023, the key trends highlight people seeking experiences rather than destinations; solo travellers joining group trips with strangers; travellers splurging more than ever; and major interest in traveling to learn a new skill. Aer Lingus’ three new summer destinations will allow travellers to tap into these trends as each provides many different types of experiences to be enjoyed by those feeling wanderlust in 2023.

Summer 2023 is set to be a year of continuing resurgence in a post-pandemic world. As the demand for summer travel returned in force last year, as Irish consumers look to the skies after past summers of staycations. 2023 is forecasted to show strong demand for family favourite holiday destinations like Spain and Portugal which offer the comfort and reassurance of the familiar. Whereas younger generations seek adventure along the paths less travelled, like the streets of beautiful Brindisi and the sandy beaches of Sardinia. Popular booking website, Sky Scanner, also released research for 2023 stating that one in four are considering solo travel this year.

Europe for Summer

Greek Islands

What better destination for a summer experience than a sandy beach and beautiful views? Greek island Kos, new to Aer Lingus’ summer schedule, is steeped in rich culture and surrounded by warm, clear waters and is a perfect holiday destination. Island hoppers can also discover other popular Greek islands such as Corfu and Santorini this summer.

Culture Capitals

According to Glamour Magazine’s 2023 Travel Trends, travellers are also ready to buckle up and head to culture capitals of the world to whet their appetite for change. Aer Lingus is meeting this demand with two cultural destinations that won’t disappoint. Flying into Olbia in Sardinia, a town filled with medieval history and sandy beaches, this destination provides all the culture with a dash of beach escapism, the perfect balance! Taking a flight to Brindisi, a city steeped in history, holidaymakers can take in beautiful scenery of both sea and city views of the Apulia region.

Sun-seekers are encouraged to book early to get the best value and ensure their spot on these highly sought-after flights. Aer Lingus will commence twice weekly flights to the new destinations starting with Kos and Olbia from May and Brindisi from June.

North America Milestone

Looking to North America, Aer Lingus will have a bumper 2.25 million seats on sale for Summer 2023, making it a record schedule in its history of flying across the Atlantic. In peak summer Aer Lingus will deploy its full Airbus A330 fleet and A321neo LR aircraft on the Atlantic, enabling Aer Lingus to offer 20% more seats from Ireland to the North America than 2019.

Key favourites Boston, New York JFK, Chicago and Washington D.C will operate double-daily from Dublin during peak summer; new route Cleveland, Ohio will commence in May; and Hartford, Connecticut will resume in March for the first time since the pandemic. Aer Lingus will operate a total of 15* North American routes from Ireland next summer.

Speaking about the Summer 2023 Schedule, Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer said,

‘’Demand for European sun destinations is at an all-time high post-pandemic, with European sun high on everyone’s wish list, so Aer Lingus is delighted to announce increases across our European schedule to the most sought after, trendsetting European destinations this summer.

We have three very exciting brand-new destinations on offer in Kos (Greece), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) and Brindisi (Italy), which our customers are sure to love exploring this summer. We’re seeing a big appetite for travel and our ambitious expansion into North America continues with Cleveland and Hartford services beginning, making our summer transatlantic schedule a record breaker with 2.25 million seats on sale.’’

Ayana Estate to open Museum Saka in March 2023

Ayana Estate to open Museum Saka in March 2023

December 15 2022

AYANA Estate announced the opening of Museum Saka – a carefully curated space to showcase and celebrate art expressions that reflect the beautiful interactions of Balinese culture, mystic, and religion – in March 2023. The museum takes Nyepi, a Balinese Day of Silence, which is unique only to Bali, as its theme. Nyepi is considered to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful nights in Bali where pollution level drops and the sky is very clear that the Milky Way can be seen to the naked eye. This has been an inspiration for the museum to be a meditative space with its star-spangled ceiling and calling ambience. For the opening, the museum will boast a sizable collection of large effigies of Balinese mythical beings, ‘Ogoh-ogoh’, a contemporary community-based art that would otherwise only be seen and enjoyed once a year as part of Balinese Day of Silence processions.

Museum Saka

Located in the heart of AYANA Estate in Jimbaran, the 5,000 square meters’ museum houses eight different galleries, an archive and library area, a screening room, a café, and a curated merchandise store. The key collection of the museum will highlight ten of Ogoh-ogoh from prominent local artists, including works of Kedux and Gusman Surya. “Presenting ogoh-ogoh in its contemporary expression but as a messenger that is deeply rooted in Balinese culture, will allow visitors to be immersed in the feeling and vibrancy of the Nyepi processions. Ogoh-ogoh are created communally by the island’s youth. The creation activities showcase Balinese spirit to preserve arts and culture,” said Marlowe Bandem, a renowned Balinese culture archivist. Marlowe is a part of the museum’s expert committee responsible for museum’s curation. Other esteemed members are Professor I Made Bandem, Bruce Carpenter, James Bennett and Farah Wardani.

The word ‘Saka’ means pillar in Balinese and denotes the ideals of the museum as a strong foundation to support the advancement of Bali art and cultural expression. Saka also refers to the Balinese Saka calendar, and the role the museum will serve to connect past and present Bali and give visitors an experience that transcends time and space.

Museum Saka forms an intrinsic part of the integrated luxury AYANA Estate aimed at enhancing guests’ experiences by offering a unique Balinese art and culture experience. It is supporting AYANA Estate’s identity as a microcosm that provides insights into the mysticism of Bali as well as a must-visit destination of its own.

“As the largest integrated resort in Bali, AYANA Estate is responsible for being the frontrunner in promoting and celebrating the Balinese culture of all of our guests of national and international community. We have been doing so by intertwining Balinese influence on our resorts’ architecture, interior, and our legendary Balinese hospitality. This will then be significantly elevated with the presence of Museum Saka,” said Michi Sonoda, executive assistant manager, Sales and Marketing, AYANA Estate.

Free for guests and open to the public, Museum Saka offers guests an unrivaled meditative space all year long, immersing the senses in artistic marvels, lush landscapes and architectural wonders. It is also geared towards hosting events and receptions in its indoor and outdoor area as well as providing exciting events, performance, workshops and other creative programs for kids and adults.

Leading up to the opening, Museum Saka will invite leading voices in Bali’s traditional and contemporary arts to support Saka to become a world-class museum destination in Bali.
