Iberia flights to Mexico

Iberia is finalising its 2022-2023 winter programme -from 30 October to 25 March 2023- and continues to work on resuming its entire network of flights and destinations.

For this winter, the airline scheduled the same capacity that it offered before the pandemic, thanks, above all, to the relaunch of its last remaining routes in Latin America (Rio de Janeiro and Caracas), to its commitment to the US market and to a greater deployment of flights in its short- and medium-haul network.

In Mexico, Iberia will recover 100% of its pre-pandemic capacity and will add four weekly frequencies to its current offer, bringing it up to 21 weekly frequencies, which represents more than 300,000 seats.

With three daily flights, Mexico City will be the metropolis with the most frequencies of all the Spanish airline’s destinations, showing its firm commitment to this strategic market and reinforcing its leadership in Latin America.

The flight schedules will be:

In Mexico, thanks to the recent codeshare agreement with the Mexican company Viva Aerobus, Iberia expanded its network of connections within the country to 19 other cities including Guadalajara, Cancún, Monterrey, Veracruz, Mérida, Tampico, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tijuana, Hermosillo, Oaxaca, Huatulco, Torreón, Puerto Escondido, Ciudad Juárez, La Paz, Chetumal and Mazatlán.

Greater Connectivity with More than 100 Destinations in Europe

The increase in flights between Spain and Mexico will contribute to the flow of travellers and will improve connectivity on both sides of the Atlantic.

In its winter programme, Iberia will increase its routes in Spain and Europe, which will also enable passengers to connect with more than a hundred European cities.

For example, in Europe it will expand its services in several cities such as Milan, Rome, Lisbon, Brussels, Bordeaux and Geneva, and it will continue with its commitment to Funchal and Madeira, perfect destinations throughout the year.

In Spain, Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum will offer a flight programme focused on business traffic and on the Balearic and Canary Islands. In the winter season, Iberia will resume all its Madrid-Barcelona Air Shuttle flights, with 87 weekly frequencies and up to 15 daily flights in each direction.

On Board the Most Advanced Aircraft on the Market, the Airbus A-350

Since June 2020, Iberia has been operating this route with state-of-the-art Airbus A-350/900 aircraft, providing its passengers with all the features and improvements offered by the quietest aircraft on the market -equipped with two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines– and 35% greater fuel consumption efficiency.

With 348 seats 31 in Business class, 24 in Premium Economy and 293 in Economy– this aircraft model boasts high-speed Wi-Fi, panoramic windows, wider aisles and higher ceilings, conferring a greater sense of space, and an air-renewal system that improves the humidity levels on board by 11 to 16%.

Renewed In-Flight Experience

Each passenger is unique, and each trip is different, which is why in 2022 Iberia continues to work to offer its clients a personalised experience that anticipates their needs, offering new features and self-management options.

In June, the airline introduced its new in-flight meals by the DO & CO catering service, always with a firm commitment to sustainability and digitisation.

Iberia’s new digital concierge, available on its website, allows passengers to check out their flight’s meal options before travelling and once they are on board.

Another new service is free messaging throughout their flight for members of the Iberia Plus loyalty programme and those travelling in the Business Cabin.

Iberia flights to Mexico:

Additionally, the airline debuted its new uniforms, designed by Teresa Helbig, continuing with its support of Spanish talent. The Catalan designer is the first woman to collaborate with the airline, joining the ranks of great names who have designed Iberia’s uniforms, such as Manuel Pertegaz, Elio Berhanyer and Adolfo Domínguez, among others

Relais Chateaux 9 new members

Relais Chateaux 9 new members

Relais Chateaux 9 new members

August 8, 2022 – Relais Chateaux 9 new members!

Properties that respect the local environment and the communities that surround them, with kitchens responsibly sourcing every product: nine new members join the Relais & Châteaux family.

Relais Chateaux 9 new members:

Aramburu, Buenos Aires, Argentina
After honing his skills with the greatest, Chef Gonzalo Aramburu opened his restaurant in 2019 in one of the most picturesque passages of Recoleta, a chic district of Buenos Aires with beautiful 19th- and early 20th-century architecture.

The decor’s sophisticated dark hues and subdued lighting serve to highlight the vibrancy of the  restaurant. At its heart is a renowned 20-course tasting menu, served amid the dynamism of the open kitchen, showcasing locally-sourced and seasonal products paired with remarkable Argentine wines. To be a proud ambassador of his country’s culinary excellence and its vineyards: this is the calling of Gonzalo Aramburu.

 Huniik, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
Self-taught chef Roberto Solís is a fervent advocate of the cuisine of his native region of Yucatán, which has its roots in the Mayan civilization. His mission: to promote Mexican gastronomy and offer diners a warm and generous experience.

He opened Huniik in partnership with a renowned Cuban designer, Jorge Pardo, who conceived a decorative style inspired by traditional Mexican icons to complement the chef’s cuisine. The restaurant operates a zero-waste policy – an important part of Chef Solís’s philosophy. He highlights small producers of the peninsula, and serves only seasonal and emblematic products of the region, such as corn, picked daily.

By consciously highlighting the riches of the land and the labors of the region’s farmers, the property’s approach is entirely in line with the commitments of Relais & Châteaux.

Mélisse, Los Angeles, California, USA
Having been raised in Santa Monica and Venice Beach by a caterer mother and a French grandmother who loved to cook, it was perhaps inevitable that Josiah Citrin’s vocation would be in the culinary realm.

Today, with Mélisse now a Michelin two-star restaurant, Chef Citrin continues his quest for excellence by offering guests an exclusive gastronomic immersion amid decor created by local artisans.

With just five tables, fourteen guests can enjoy a unique, hosted dining experience: a nine-course tasting menu in which creativity is at the heart of the occasion, a reinvention of food and wine pairings, with products sourced from farmers in the Napa Valley, and a soundtrack drawn from his personal vinyl collection.

La Scène, Paris, France
A story of passion and family: this beautiful epicurean address, in the renowned Matignon district, has won two stars in the Michelin Guide just four months after opening.

Its chef and owner, Stéphanie Le Quellec, is a woman of character, leading a team that offers a concise French menu based on local products that move her. It pays tribute to artisans, producers and the value of ‘responsible’ cooking: these are her foundations.

In the heart of the chic eighth arrondissement of Paris, Stéphanie works like an innkeeper combining high gastronomy and excellence – combined with simplicity. From her open kitchen she conveys emotion as if on stage in a theater, part of a play in which she is the heroine.

Château de Maubreuil, Carquefou, France
Not far from Nantes, this five-star boutique hotel (part of Relais Chateaux 9 new members) enjoys an unparalleled history that evokes tales of exploration and anecdotes from across the centuries.

Once the home of the Marquis de Dion – a privateer shipowner, adventurer and pioneer of the French automotive industry and publisher of road maps (an activity that he transferred to Michelin) – this beautiful 17th-century residence is located in the heart of a fourteen-hectare wooded park with a permaculture vegetable garden.

Rooms here are lent evocative names: Burmese Nights, Babylon Gardens, Carnival in Venice, and so on… La Table du Marquis, its gourmet restaurant, is brilliantly led by Chef Quentin Gallouedec, who channels his Breton roots. The journey continues with a moment of well-being in the intimate Cinq Mondes spa. This romantic, authentic stopover in Pays de la Loire promises a destination vibrant with emotions.

Morukuru Family de Hoop, De Hoop, South Africa
A three-hour drive from Cape Town lies this design lodge, with five suites and a villa, in a private reserve where sandy dunes are populated with flamingo, ostrich, zebra and antelope.

It also faces the Indian Ocean where, from June to mid-October, whales can be seen on their annual migration. In its construction and operation, its owners endeavored to prioritize natural, recycled materials, and to reduce energy consumption to a minimum. In the restaurant, the native chefs favor local products and wines from the surrounding area.

The team, driven by a passion for the art of hospitality, pay great attention to detail in creating the most memorable of experiences. Many activities, including safaris, raise awareness about the protection of the environment, fauna and flora.

Central Park Voorburg, Voorburg, The Netherlands
This four-star hotel, with just fourteen suites, enjoys a privileged location in a grand residence from the 18th century, typical of the architectural constructions of the region.

Adjoining a deer park, just seven kilometers from The Hague, it is also something of a rural getaway, with the added bonus of a restaurant run by chefs Tim Bood and Hette Hettema.

Overlooking the park, they offer a creative menu featuring fresh products including fish and shellfish from the nearby coast. The mission of the new owner is to gradually transform the boutique hotel to reflect contemporary expectations, and to  meet environmental challenges while preserving quality.

Borgo Santandrea, Amalfi, Italy
Nestled in cliffs 90 meters above the sea, and overlooking an old fishing village, this five-star hotel’s 29 rooms and 16 suites offer breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast.

Having undergone a major renovation, its owners have integrated cutting-edge technologies while drastically reducing energy costs, limiting waste and eliminating plastics.

Most of the furniture and decorative elements, such as the earthenware tiles, come from local artisans’ workshops. There is a similar approach in the kitchen, with products sourced mostly from local producers. A private beach, pool, spa, bar and restaurants add to the charm of this little gem on the Mediterranean.

Hôtel & Restaurant Purs, Andernach, Germany
(another Relais Chateaux 9 new members)

Located in the historic part of Andernach, on the left bank of the Rhine, Purs is a harmonious kind of place: harmony between the traditional architecture, the exceptional size of the new wing, and the contemporary interiors by renowned Belgian designer and antique collector Axel Vervoordt.

Harmony, too, in the courtyard garden where wildflowers bloom; and harmony of the fine dining restaurant where chef Christian Eckhardt won two stars in the Michelin Guide soon after it opened… In his kitchen, Chef Eckhardt combines regional and seasonal products to offer creative but accessible cuisine.

Park Hyatt Milan reopens after a €20 Million Makeover

Park Hyatt Milan

Park Hyatt Milan

August 3, 2022 – Park Hyatt Milan Reopens its Doors After a €20 Million Makeove.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced that the iconic five-star luxury establishment Park Hyatt Milano opens its doors today after two years of extensively reimagining its spaces, while staying true to the property’s unmatched, historic character. A stone’s throw from the Duomo and with direct access to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the former bank, formidable palazzo and historical hotel offers a brand-new, luxury experience to its international and local guests, in perfect harmony with the city’s cultural context.

Park Hyatt Milan

Strategically positioned in the heart of Milano, the exclusive hotel and its recent enhancements provide the perfect backdrop to discover authentic Italian luxury. The 106 guestrooms and 25 suites, as well as the common spaces, have been preserved to reflect the property’s historical identity.

Elements of contemporary design combined with classic interiors in a delicate and neutral palette evoke a feeling of understated Milanese elegance, delivering guests a refined, home-away-from-home. Sustainability aspects came into play during the restoration of the building’s foundations – while equipping the house with new water pipes and modern air conditioning units as well as focusing on FSC® certified materials for many of the refurbishments.

“The reinvented atmosphere of the new Park Hyatt Milano combines well-beloved and unexpected touches to a deeply personal, luxury offering,” said Monique Dekker, area vice president, Hyatt. “Being able to make such an investment during a critical time for the hospitality industry is reassuring and, I know our team in Milan is thrilled to host local and international guests again.”

The four Terrace Suites, the Presidential Suite and the Duomo Suite with their unbeatable panoramic terraces each overlook the city skyline. Warm-toned durmast oak parquet and original light travertine marble from Breccia Mdicea quarries reference the neutral color palette of the Duomo of Milan and are used for the custom furnishings designed by Venetian Uno Contract. In the bathrooms, elegant medici pebbles on the floors and marble vanities combined with hand-blown glass light fixtures represent a traditional interpretation of Italian luxury. Among others, artwork from Stefano Meriggi, Matteo Boato and Luca Brandi adorn the rooms.

Park Hyatt Milano’s common areas have been revisited with great attention to detail. Located next to La Cupola and illuminated by the natural light coming from the nearly 30-foot-high (nine-meter-high) glass dome, the new fine dining restaurant Pellico 3 Milano attracts both travelers and locals. With its unique culinary experience, the menu sources ingredients and taps into the culinary traditions of France, Spain, Greece and Italy to awaken all five senses while respecting each product and its unique seasonality. The bright space, designed by architect Flaviano Capriotti, features a color palette inspired by the ingredients: warm chestnut brown, urchin yellow, a cool artichoke green with orange and purple tying in pumpkin and saffron. The ceiling and floor reflect the magic of the sky and the productive capacity of the earth, setting the perfect scene for Chef Guido Paternollo’s haute cuisine.

The reopened AQVAM Spa – which features a Turkish bath, multifunctional showers, and a jacuzzi bath adorned with an intricate gold mosaic – offers a selection of treatments utilizing the 111SKIN treatment line. The urban wellness oasis and the gym, equipped with latest generation Technogym equipment, round out the property’s refreshed offering.

Air Serbia to launch 12 new routes

Air Serbia to launch 12 new routes

Air Serbia to launch 12 new routes

August 1, 2022 – Air Serbia is preparing to expand its route network with around twelve new routes, some of which will be launched as early as this winter season, although the majority will be added next summer.

The carrier’s CEO, Jiri Marek, told “Aviation Week”, “We are currently planning around a dozen of new destinations for next year, as well as more frequencies in the region to guarantee connectivity to Chicago, New York and China. And some of the new destinations, even exotic ones, might come already in the winter season”.

Air Serbia to launch 12 new routes

Mr Marek noted that Air Serbia does not need additional destinations in Europe, but more frequencies, indicating that many of the upcoming new routes will be outside of the continent.

Air Serbia is planning a greater presence in the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to its planned new services to China and the United States. The Serbian carrier has been absent from the Middle East since March 2020, having discontinued flights to Beirut, and suspending operations to Cairo and Tel Aviv, as well as shelving plans to serve Amman in Jordan this summer.

However, the airline did operate regular charter services between the Serbian capital and Dubai during the Expo 2020 event from October 2021 until this March. According to OAG data, the busiest unserved destinations in the Middle East from Belgrade include Kuwait City, Tehran, Muscat, Baghdad, Amman and Bahrain.

Air Serbia to launch 12 new routes: Air Serbia has said it will grow its fleet with the addition of an Airbus A320 aircraft. Furthermore, due to high seasonality, the airline is looking to either make a capacity provider agreement on a long-term basis or attempt to enter into a Joint Venture agreement with reverse-seasonality operators in order to have wet-leased equipment available over the peak summer months. In addition, the company will add a further two ATR72-600s to its fleet by the end of the year and is believed to be considering more turboprops next year.

Air Serbia to launch 12 new routes: Air Serbia recently announced it would be hiring new cabin crew members for the “announced expansion of intercontinental, Euro-Mediterranean and regional destinations”.

Ryanair strikes will continue until January 2023 –

Ryanair strikes

Ryanair strikes continues

July 28, 2022 – The Spanish Unions have called for a walk out that will last five months running from 8 August to 7 January 2023.

Spanish cabin crew union members plan strikes on four days of every week until January to press demands for higher pay and better working conditions, a leader of the USO union said on Wednesday.

More than 40 Ryanair flights were cancelled in mid-June due to strike action by the airline’s French crew. This was followed by coordinated walkouts in Spain, Belgium, Portugal and Italy. Now, the airline’s Spanish crew are striking in July.

“We are seeing a trickle of dismissals almost daily. Last week it was the tenth worker and yesterday another colleague from Barcelona who had been with the company for 12 years,” union sources say.

They are also calling for an end to disciplinary proceedings against almost 100 workers who took part in the stoppages.

Ryanair strikes

This new action will mainly affect the airports of Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Seville and Palma de Mallorca. Both national and international connections will be disrupted.

Lufthansa strike on July 27 – cancels almost all flights in Germany over planned strike today

Lufthansa strike

Lufthansa strike

July 27, 2022 – Lufthansa strike affects many passengers this week.

The strike announced by the trade union ver.di for Wednesday already ruined the travel plans of almost 7,500 passengers on Tuesday.

On the day before the actual strike, Lufthansa had to cancel a total of around 45 flights in Munich and Frankfurt.

Lufthansa strike long haul effect

For example, Lufthansa guests could not fly to Munich today as planned from the following cities: Bangkok, Singapore, Boston, Denver, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seoul (among many others).

A lot of passengers could also not board their flights to Frankfurt as planned. Connections from the following cities, among others, had to be canceled: Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Miami or New-Delhi.

The long-haul flights were all almost fully booked.

This means that the strike is already affecting guests who would have normally landed in Munich or Frankfurt tomorrow.

Lufthansa is currently working flat out to restore the flight operation to normal in view of the upcoming start of the holidays in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

Adele in Las Vegas – shows have been rescheduled to November 2022

Adele in Las Vegas

Adele in Las Vegas

July 26, 2022 – Adele’s long-postponed Las Vegas shows will finally begin in November. These shows will take place 11 months after its original launch date. “Words can’t explain how ecstatic I am to finally be able to announce these rescheduled shows,” she said on social media as she revealed the new dates. “I truly was heartbroken to have to cancel them.”

Adele in Las Vegas

The decision to cancel the original shows came just 1 day before the first show was due to take place in January, leaving fans hugely disappointed.

“I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready,” the star told fans in a tearful Instagram post at the time.

Adele in Las Vegas: Many fans complained they had spent thousands of dollars on tickets, accommodation and plane fares, only for Adele to cancel last-minute when they were already en route to Vegas.

Since then, there have been few updates, and left fans dangling –  wondering if the show would ever go ahead. In a statement on Monday, the singer apologised for the delays, but defended her right to postpone the concerts.

“I know for some of you it was a horrible decision on my part, and I will always be sorry for that, but I promise you it was the right one,” she wrote on Instagram.

After an “eternity of figuring out logistics”, she said she hoped fans could look forward to the new dates.

“To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I’ve most been looking forward to and I’m going to give you the absolute best of me,” she wrote. Come see Adele in Las Vegas!

The rules of Roulette – a popular game

The rules of Roulette

The rules of Roulette

The roulette game was first played in France. The good news about a game of Roulette, is that it requires no skill at all. So, if you are new to gambling, you can jump right in.

The Roulette is a spinning wheel that contains slots numbered 1 to 36, as well as two additional slots, 0 and 00. A white ball is spun around the wheel as the wheel rotates, and when the ball loses speed, it drops, falling into one of the numbered slots.

In Las Vegas, roulette slots are numbered from 1 to 36 alternating between red and black. There are also two green slots numbered 0 and 00. Some casinos also offer the European style roulette, which has a single 0 along with the standard 36 numbers.

The rules of Roulette

The purpose of Las Vegas casino roulette game is to try and guess which numbered slot the ball will fall into next.

You place your bets on the roulette layout according to where you think the ball might land. There is a house advantage of 5.26% if the ball lands in the 0 or 00 pocket. If that happens, all the other wagers will automatically lose.

As the game was first played in France, there are still many expressions in the French language in the casino.

Faites vos jeux

Even before the croupier starts spinning the ball, he says “Faites vos jeux”, in other words make your game. The players may now place their chips on the numbers on the playing field. While the players are betting, he will throw the ball contrarily into the spinning roulette wheel.

Rien ne va plus

When the ball has made a few rounds and is about to fall, the croupier will say the famous “Rien ne va plus”. At the same time, he makes a swinging movement with his arm over the playing field. From that moment on, the players are not allowed to bet anymore. If you still bet after this announcement, you will be called a “Pousette” (walker) in France.

AEGEAN airlines and sustainability – the 1st airline in Greece to launch a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) program

AEGEAN airlines and sustainability

AEGEAN airlines and sustainability

July 25, 2022 – AEGEAN airlines and sustainability -the first Greek carrier to power its fleet with sustainable aviation fuel

AEGEAN the leading Greek airline announced its first ever Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) program and thus became the only carrier in Greece, and one of the few in Europe, to operate part of its domestic and international network using a SAF blend.

AEGAN airlines and sustainability

AEGEAN joined forces with longtime partner HELLENIC PETROLEUM, one of the leading energy groups in South- East Europe, for the supply of SAF blend on flights departing from its Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” hub. Flights from Athens International Airport are expected to follow soon.

AEGEAN airlines and sustainability – the airline is committed to the long-term sustainability goals of the aviation industry and is taking an active role to support various initiatives towards achieving net zero by 2050. As part of its sustainability strategy, AEGEAN managed to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions by investing in a large Airbus A320/321neo fleet renewal program. The launch of its SAF program aims at further reducing its environmental footprint, while continuing to expand its network and operations.

This strategic initiative for supply of SAF in Greece was welcomed by the Greek government, as it enables Greece to make an effective contribution to all international efforts that target to make air transport more sustainable. It is also the first step for airlines and airports to align in a proactive manner with the upcoming European Union SAF targets by 2025.
