Removal Thailand Pass registration scheme from 1 July 2022

No more masks

Removal Thailand Pass

Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today approved the removal Thailand Pass registration scheme and an US$10,000 health insurance requirement for foreign visitors, effective 1 July, 2022. Both requirements were initially removed for Thai nationals from 1 June, 2022.

Removal Thailand Pass

From 1 July, 2022, foreign nationals are only required to show proof of either a certificate of vaccination or a negative RT-PCR or professional ATK test result within 72 hours of travel. These can be in a print or digital format. Random checks will be made on arrivals at Thailand’s international airports or land border checkpoints (in 22 provinces). Unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated travellers who are random checked and who are unable to show proof of a pre-arrival negative test will be required to undergo a professional ATK test at the point of entry.

Meanwhile, the CCSA also approved the designation of Bangkok and 76 provinces as the Surveillance or green zone, thus allowing resumption of new normal businesses and activities nationwide. And while maintaining the safety and health measures under the universal prevention, the Royal Thai Government is preparing to announce a new set of guidelines as the nation is stepping into post-pandemic.

TAT Newsroom will be providing updates in detail via www.tatnews.org once the official directives have been announced in the Royal Thai Government Gazette.

Direct flight Washington DC and Cape Town -3 weekly flights by United proposed

Direct flight Washington DC and Cape Town

Direct flight Washington DC and Cape Town

May 27, 2022 -Proposed nonstop flights from Washington Dulles to Cape Town will create a long-overdue, direct route supporting critical diplomatic and thriving economic ties between the legislative capitals

Washington D.C. to Cape Town is the most in-demand route between the U.S. and South Africa without nonstop service

Direct flight Washington DC and Cape Town

United Airlines announced today it has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for three weekly nonstop flights between Washington, D.C. and Cape Town, South Africa. If approved, United’s flights will become the first nonstop service ever between Washington D.C. and South Africa’s legislative capital, Cape Town. This long-overdue route will benefit important government-to-government connections and increase communication and commerce with a region that has strong cultural ties to South Africa.

United’s Direct flight Washington DC and Cape Town would begin Nov. 17, 2022, and operate on 787-9 aircraft, maximized to meet consumer demand and benefit both U.S. and South African travelers. If approved, the flights between Dulles and Cape Town will connect 55 cities across the United States to Cape Town, representing more than 90 percent of the entire U.S. travel demand to Cape Town. United’s Washington Dulles hub is a gateway to the nation’s capital and elsewhere, operating more than 230 daily flights to nearly 100 destinations around the world – including more than 10 world capitals and new service to Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria.

“From creating new jobs, to supporting key civic and aid organizations, United has taken tremendous pride in growing our family and operations in South Africa, and across the African continent,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of International Network and Alliances. “If awarded by the DOT, this historic nonstop service will significantly enhance travel options for consumers, strengthen ties between our countries legislative and diplomatic epicenters, and benefit thriving travel and tourism industries serving our respective countries.”

United has worked diligently to develop an African network to promote competition and provide affordable and consistent service options for U.S. travelers. The service will supplement United’s existing flights to four cities in three countries in Africa. It will also allow customers to connect in Cape Town to other points in South Africa, and to other countries in the southern region of the African continent with its South African based partner Airlink and their Cape Town hub.

The Washington D.C. to Cape Town route is the largest between the U.S. and South Africa without nonstop service. D.C. is the second largest point in the U.S. for Cape Town demand and holds the fifth largest South-African-born population. United’s proposed weekly flights will address this gap and complement United’s existing South Africa service between New York/Newark and Cape Town and Johannesburg, providing nearly daily service to Cape Town offered by a single carrier.

United also maintains a close relationship with the Mandela Foundation and BPESA (Business Processing Enabling South Africa) a not-for-profit company that serves as the industry body and trade association for Global Business Services in South Africa. United recently announced a collaboration with travel company Certified Africa. Certified Africa’s mission is to make travel to African countries easy, immersive, and life changing for millions of the African Diaspora across the United States.

World Series of Poker starts May 31

World Series of Poker

World Series of Poker

May 25, 2022- World Series of Poker Announces 2022 Daily Event Schedule

The 53rd World Series of Poker® (WSOP®) – the richest, most prestigious and longest-running poker series.

Following a successful 17-year run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the WSOP moves to the Las Vegas Strip for the very first time at Bally’s, the future Horseshoe, and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, and will feature the WSOP’s inaugural Master of Ceremonies, Vince Vaughn.

The move to the Strip builds upon the legacy for Caesars Entertainment’s World Series of Poker, as the first-ever tournament was played at Las Vegas’ original Horseshoe in 1970. Doors open on Tuesday, May 31 with exciting action through the event’s conclusion on Wednesday, July 20.

World Series of Poker

“This year is particularly historic for the WSOP with its move to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and debut in the best facilities we’ve ever had,” said Ty Stewart, the WSOP’s Executive Director residing over his 17th WSOP. “We’re ready to welcome players from all over the world to our housewarming party at Bally’s, soon-to-be Horseshoe, and Paris. The schedule is jam-packed with first-class events and we expect this to be the biggest and most anticipated WSOP yet.”

WSOP will again feature the much-anticipated $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, also known as the “Main Event”, which in 2021 hosted 6,650 entrants from around the world despite taking place during a pandemic. This year’s Main Event is back to its traditional time frame around the July 4 holiday, beginning on Sunday, July 3. The legendary deep-stack tournament will continue play through the Final Table on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16.

The WSOP’s new home will include all convention space at both Paris Las Vegas and Bally’s. This will create the largest tournament capacity in the event’s history with over 200,000 square feet and 600 poker tables. The 2022 World Series of Poker will host a wide variety of tournaments ranging in price from $400 to $250,000. The main cage will be placed at Paris Las Vegas while the TV set staging will be in the Bally’s Event Center as the two buildings are connected and share a parking garage.

This year’s tournament will also feature a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool WSOP opening weekend dubbed “The Housewarming”, featuring a $500 buy-in. This popular price point for the opening weekend has generated some of the largest field sizes in the history of poker. Last year’s “Reunion” event generated a whopping 12,973 entrants and organizers are expecting an even larger field as the event returns to its traditional summer schedule.

World Series of Poker will work with broadcast partner CBS Sports for a second season of coverage with daily streaming on PokerGo. Produced exclusively by Poker Central, there will be 18 different bracelet events to be televised with a minimum of 15 hours of coverage for the 2022 Main Event.

When booking early, entrants of the World Series of Pokerbracelet events can enjoy reduced hotel room rates at Bally’s and Paris, as well as all Caesars Entertainment resorts in Las Vegas by using the special advanced booking code “WSOP22”. Rates are based on availability and are subject to change. To view a complete list of rates across all Caesars Entertainment properties, please visit our Reservations page.

Holiday Inn Express Singapore Novena

May 24, 2022 –  Hotel giant expands country portfolio to 14 hotels across seven brands

IHG Hotels & Resorts and partner Marlow Hotels & Resorts today announce the signing of Holiday Inn Express  Singapore Novena.

With four Holiday Inn Express properties in Clarke Quay, Katong, Orchard Road and Serangoon, this will be the fifth property under the brand in Singapore, expanding IHG’s portfolio to 14 hotels across seven brands.

Facilities at the hotel include flexible meeting spaces of more than 500 square metres, a gym, swimming pool and self-service laundry. Within South East Asia, the brand recently welcomed Holiday Inn Express & Suites Johor Bahru, and will introduce Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites properties in Phuket, Penang and Vientiane within the next few years.

Marlow Hotels & Resorts spokesperson said: “We made the decision to convert and upgrade our hotel to Holiday Inn Express & Suites Singapore Novena because we believe the brand’s positioning of providing simple, smart travel is ideal for meeting the changing needs of our guests.

“As borders reopen, we know that travellers will be looking for comfortable, fuss-free stays. Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG commented: “It is fantastic to work with Marlow Hotels & Resorts on our second property together and we thank them for their continued trust in IHG. This agreement takes us to 14 hotels in the country, covering a wide portfolio of brands that appeal to all types of travellers.

“It’s another great example of the appetite of owners to join the IHG family as the strength, resilience and attractiveness of our brands continue to shine through as the industry recovers from the pandemic.

“The Holiday Inn Express brand celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and accounts for more than a third of IHG’s global pipeline. Its simple and smart travel experience provides an avenue for that warm in-person connection that has been so missed over the past two years. Elizabeth line opens today in London – new railway stops at 41 stations – 10 of them new –

Singapore joins the Global Destination Sustainability-Index

Elizabeth line opens today

May 24, 2022-  when fully open – add around 10% more capacity to central London’s rail network as well as an estimated £42bn to the UK economy.

High-frequency services connecting to more places – for many the new railway means shorter journey times between popular destinations in the Capital. The travel experience is more comfortable on the spacious trains and in the new and newly refurbished stations.

Opening stage

The Elizabeth line is initially operating as three separate railways – services from Reading, Heathrow and Shenfield will connect with the central tunnels from autumn this year. When the final stage is complete, customers will be able to travel seamlessly from Abbey Wood to Heathrow and Reading, and from Shenfield to Heathrow.

From 24 May 2022 (subject to final safety approvals)

  • Services running as TfL Rail were rebranded as the Elizabeth line
  • The central section opened, adding nine new stations to the TfL network (Bond Street will open to Elizabeth line customers later in 2022)
  • Service starts with 12 trains an hour (a train every 5 minutes) running between Paddington and Abbey Wood from 06:30-23:00, Monday to Saturday.

Work will continue outside those hours, on Sundays (except for the weekend of the Platinum Jubilee, Sunday 5 June 2022) and select full weekends to allow for any testing and software updates. By doing so, we can bring forward the next phase of the Elizabeth line to this autumn. The number of trains running through the central area and direct journeys from the east and west is expected to nearly double in autumn 2022.

The line operates in London as three separate railways, in the east, west and through central London. Elizabeth line customers travelling between:

  • Shenfield and the central section of the route will need to change trains at Liverpool Street, walking to/from the new Elizabeth line Liverpool Street station
  • Reading or Heathrow and the central section will need to change trains at Paddington, walking to/from the new Paddington Elizabeth line station
  • Paddington and Abbey Wood only – no changes needed

    From autumn 2022

The lines from Reading, Heathrow and Shenfield will connect with the central tunnels. This means customers travelling:

    • From Reading and Heathrow can travel east all the way to Abbey Wood without changing at Paddington
    • From Shenfield can travel west all the way to Paddington without changing at Liverpool Street

    By May 2023

    • The separate sections of Elizabeth line are fully connected and services run to the final timetable
    • 24 trains an hour will run at the busiest times between Paddington and Whitechapel.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula Croatia- more than 30 million it cost to reposition the legendary Hotel Brion

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

May 24, 2022 – First Radisson Collection hotel on the Adriatic coast opens in Pula, Croatia

Radisson Hotel Group is proud to announce the debut of its luxury lifestyle Radisson Collection brand in Croatia, with the opening of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel. This follows an extensive £30 million repositioning of the legendary Hotel Brioni, one of Croatia’s best-known hotels, by Radisson Hotel Group’s partner PPHE Hotel Group and its Croatian subsidiary Arena Hospitality Group.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula

Pula is home to Istria’s main international airport and serves many holidaymakers each year as the starting point for their travels. It is a popular leisure destination steeped in Roman history, and provides easy access to the most historic sites, pristine nature and an outstanding coastline. The Grand Hotel Brioni Pula occupies a dramatic cliff-side location on the Adriatic, overlooking the Brijuni islands, which were the inspiration for the hotel’s name. It offers 227 rooms, infinity swimming pools, multiple restaurants and bars and sumptuous health and wellness facilities.

Originally built in the 1970s, the hotel was one of the most prominent tourist meccas in former Yugoslavia. In its heydays, with direct flights from the United States to Pula in the 70s, it was often a getaway for many celebrities, including artists, film stars and politicians. The 14 islets of Brijuni are the epitome of tranquility and exclusivity.

The interiors, designed by Studio 92 have the “wow” factor and will take your breath away. Throughout, the hotel features art by renowned Croatian artists, connecting the heritage of this iconic hotel with the modernity of today, and taking in the striking colors of the surrounding area. The interior design is enriched with Mediterranean materials and colors with Italian and Croatian stone including Botticino Classico, Grigio Amani, Kirmenjak and Kanfanar.

Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, A Radisson Collection Hotel features several restaurants and bars. With the freshness of ingredients at the heart of local Mediterranean cuisine, and paying significant attention to quality and provenance, all ingredients are sourced locally from trusted producers and artisans selected by our talented team of chefs. Restaurant Brioni Forum serves international specialties with an emphasis on local recipes, always insisting on fresh, local produce, such as truffles which are an integral part of the food history of Croatia’s most famous gastronomic region. Kimpton Hua Hin Resort Thailand opens in 2024 with 124 rooms

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

May 23, 2022 – The Kimpton Hua Hin Resort boutique luxury brand’s success story continues in partnership with AWC

Thailand – 23 May 2022: IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, is honoured to announce the signing of Kimpton Hua Hin Resort in collaboration with long-standing partner Asset World Corporation, Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real-estate group.

Opening in 2024, the 124-room resort will be the fourth Kimpton hotel in the Kingdom. Part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, the Kimpton brand’s popularity and growth in Thailand has accelerated at pace since its debut in Bangkok in 2020, thanks to its heartfelt service, boldly playful design and award-winning dining offers.

Kimpton Hua Hin Resort

The agreement is part of a long-term strategic partnership between IHG and AWC to jointly manage a portfolio of properties across Thailand featuring more than 1,200 rooms which includes the highly anticipated 302-room InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping which will open this year. The announcement follows last year’s triple signing which included two hotels in Bangkok’s Chinatown – InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown and Vignette Collection Bangkok Chinatown, as well as Aquatique Pattaya, which is also part of IHG’s Vignette Collection.

A full renovation will see Kimpton Hua Hin Resort transformed from the former Imperial Hua Hin which closed in May 2019. Located on an idyllic beachfront, it will offer guests the choice of four restaurants & bars, a swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and meeting spaces.

Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG said: “We’re delighted to partner with AWC to bring our joint vision for Kimpton Hua Hin Resort to life. As the fourth Kimpton hotel to be signed in Thailand – following Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, Kimpton Kitalay Samui and Kimpton Khao Yai – the resort will further strengthen the brand’s positioning in Thailand and around the world, and establish it as a hotel of choice for travellers seeking one-of-a-kind experiences.

“IHG has 30 hotels in Thailand and more than 30 in the pipeline, and we are proud to continue working with AWC to grow sustainably – together – over the next few years. As travel returns, we know there are great opportunities for us throughout the country.

“Our recent IHG search data shows Hua Hin in the top 10 searched destinations in the region for international travellers. We look forward to Kimpton Hua Hin Resort quickly becoming a great success, and can’t wait to welcome both domestic and international guests through its doors in 2024.”

Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President, Asset World Corporation (Plc), AWC added: “AWC is confident that Thailand’s tourism industry has a strong long-term future, so we will continue to strengthen Thailand as one of the world’s most attractive destinations. The expansion of our cooperation with IHG further diversifies our hospitality portfolio and allows us to deliver even more impressive experiences while meeting a wider array of customer demands after Thailand reopens.

“Kimpton is an exciting brand offering thoughtful design and world class restaurants & bars. It will be a great brand to introduce to Hua Hin and elevate this lifestyle destination further. We’re confident that together with a global partner like IHG Hotels & Resorts, we will continue to lift the benchmark of Thailand’s tourism industry and bring new distinctive experiences across Thailand for both domestic and international guests.”

Hua Hin has been the seaside resort destination of choice for Thai royalty for almost a century and is well-established as a cosmopolitan weekend getaway destination for local residents. It is also popular with second-home investors seeking a stylish and scenic retreat away from the city, making it an ideal location for the design-led and distinctive Kimpton brand.

A two-and-a-half hour drive from Bangkok and just ten minutes from Hua Hin Airport, the destination of Hua Hin is famed for its white sandy beaches, picturesque golf courses and nearby Kaeng Krachan national park, the largest national park in Thailand featuring waterfalls, caves and hiking trails.

Thailand continues to be a strong growth market for IHG, and the signing of Kimpton Hua Hin Resort is the latest move by the company to grow its Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio in Thailand by 50%, as well as double its estate across all of its brands, in the country by 2026.

The Kimpton brand’s global expansion continues to move at pace, with 75 open hotels* and a 38-strong pipeline that will see it surpass more than 100 properties worldwide. In 2022, the opening of Kimpton Kitalay Samui in Thailand and Kimpton Margot Sydney in Australia further added to the brand’s growing presence in prime leisure destinations with Kimpton Naranta Bali opening soon.

Blackjack – How to play Blackjack – a popular card game

Blackjack

Blackjack – how to play Blackjack

This game is also known as Twenty-One. If you visit a casino, it sure helps to know the rules.
James Bond certainly seems to be a genius at it.

Blackjack rules

When you are able to count cards, the odds may be in your favor.

Maybe you have heard of Ed Thorp, one of the most successful money managers in history. His fortune and career started with trip to Las Vegas in the late 1950s.  Find out more about Ed Thorp and his Blackjack successes.

Even if you have not played it before, Blackjack is one of the most attractive casino games for players.

History of Blackjack
It all started in the 18th century in France – it was called Vingt-et-un.

Today, it is a game that can be found in any casino in the USA.

Some basics
The house is the dealer and remains standing, the players are seated. The dealer shuffles, deals and handles all bets.

Cards

The standard 52-card pack is used, but in most casinos several decks of cards are shuffled together. The six-deck game (312 cards) is the most popular. In addition, the dealer uses a blank plastic card, which is never dealt, but is placed toward the bottom of the pack to indicate when it will be time for the cards to be reshuffled.

The Goal

Each participant tries to beat the dealer by getting  as close to 21 as possible, without going over 21, otherwise, game over! The ace can be worth 1 or 11, the individual player can decide.

Betting on Blackjack

Each player places a bet, in chips, in front of them, like you can see in the picture. This is one lucky player so far.

The Shuffle and Cut

The dealer thoroughly shuffles until all the cards have been mixed and combined. The dealer designates one of the players to cut, and the plastic insert card is placed so that the last 60 to 75 cards or so will not be used.

Each player except the dealer receives two cards face up, and the dealer receives one card face up and one card face down.

What is playing a Blackjack?

If a player’s first two cards are an ace and a “ten-card” you immediately have 21. This is a natural or “blackjack.” If the dealer is not as lucky, the player receives 150% of their bet. If the player and the dealer both have 21, the chips are given back.

Say “Hit” or “Stand”
Once the game starts, you can “stand” (not ask for another card) or “hit” (you get another card.

When the dealer has served every player, the dealers face-down card is turned up. If the total is 17 or more, it must stand. If the total is 16 or under, they must take a card. The dealer must continue to take cards until the total is 17 or more.

Splitting pairs
If you have two of the same cards (two Jacks or two 6’s), you can split and run two games

Future Travel In Las Vegas: Likely Attractions In The Next Few Years

Future Travel in Las Vegas

Future Travel in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a city known for investing in ambitious projects and contracts with the intention to attract audiences from all around the country. Last year saw 32.2 million visitors come to Vegas and more are expected in the future. They already have a replica of Venice, and host the most important mixed martial arts and poker events on the planet. However, if there’s something this city is known for it is constantly trying to find new ways to capture the attention of tourists with attractive events and monumental architecture. As expected, in the next few years visitors will see the emergence of new and imposing structures, spectacular sports events, and maybe even new teams. Let’s take a look.

Moon Resorts Las Vegas

For the first time in history, commercial space travel has been made possible, although for a particularly high price. This renewed interest in space hasn’t gone unnoticed by a Canadian company, which has plans to invest $5 billion to build a resort inspired by the moon. By this, we don’t just mean a big hotel with moon-themed nightclubs or a planetarium. The company has revealed that this will be an actual replica of the moon, which will stand 735 feet tall.

Apart from the impressive structure that would make it seem like the moon has landed in the middle of the city, the main attraction has been described as a lunar colony. For $500 per visitor, people will be able to explore an area resembling the surface of the moon on a buggy, and visit “moon colonies” resembling those planned by NASA.

The MSG Sphere

The Venetian, one of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas, is known for sparing no expenses when it comes to building new attractions. The casino already hosts an impressive replica of the popular Italian city, together with channels and authentic Gondola drivers. But their next project is even more ambitious.

The MSG Sphere, a massive spherical structure of 336 feet tall, is expected to become the biggest building of its kind. Its function will be to host events and shows for as high as 20,000 spectators. The MSG Sphere is also going to have a 160,000 square foot LED display, and its potential uses are currently being discussed with Hollywood executives.

New Sports Teams

Up until recently, the city of Las Vegas was trying to become the home of a new professional sports team. This all changed in 2017 when the Las Vegas Golden Knights became the NHL’s newest expansion team, a decision that has received a warm welcome from its citizens. In fact, as stated in a Poker.org guide on exciting Las Vegas activities, fans were immediately “all-in” on the team, creating an electric atmosphere right from the start.

After the successful deal with an NHL team, Las Vegas managed to get The Raiders to move into the city back in 2020. Now there are even talks of an NBA expansion, which is something a city famous for hosting great sports events is likely to put a lot of effort into making a reality.

Super Bowl LIX

As we mentioned, Las Vegas has managed to attract some interesting sport-focused investors. These efforts have resulted in the city being recognized as a mandatory visit for enjoying sports like mixed martial arts, as the most prestigious and popular event, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is held in Las Vegas, together with important boxing matches.

But this is not enough for the city, and there has been a recent push for it to become the host of traditional sports tournaments. As a result, CBSSports.com reports that Vegas will host the Super Bowl LIX in 2024. The match will take place at the Allegiant Stadium, and will be televised by CBS in the U.S. and BBC One in the United Kingdom.

Las Vegas is a city known for constantly reinventing itself: from a paradise for poker enthusiasts to a destination offering family-friendly entertainment. The city has no problem spending billions appealing to the most varied preferences. The result is a city that will feature its own moon replica, the Super Bowl LIX, and probably a new NBA team; making sure that new generations develop an interest in visiting Las Vegas.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden will shine in new glory in 2023

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

May 19, 2022 – Extensive renovation of the first 5-star hotel in Saxony

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden will be extensively renovated in 2023. In 1995, the traditional hotel was opened as the first five-star hotel in Saxony and has since offered its guests a luxurious comfortable atmosphere in Dresden’s best historical location.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

Now, the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden lobby and rooms as well as the Café Vestibül are being extensively renovated according to the highest standards of contemporary and luxurious interior design and equipped with new highlights. At the same time, the technical installations are also being modernised under ESG aspects.

This extensive work cannot be carried out during ongoing operations. Therefore, the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden will close its doors for around ten months from 4 January 2023. A reopening is expected to take place in November 2023, so that the first guests can enjoy a stay in the new exclusive rooms in the Advent season 2023.

The hotel’s staff will remain on board during the renovation period, so that they can welcome guests as usual when the hotel reopens.

Markus Hilzinger, Studio Berlin, who has already accompanied several renovations of prestigious five-star hotels, acts as design author and interior designer. The lighting design is in the hands of Kardorff Ingenieure Lichtplanung from Berlin. Ronald Hetzke, hp developments, was chosen, as an experienced hotel planner, for the project management, and TSSB Architekten is also accompanying the renovation work on the culturally significant building.

The renovation activities, which also serve to preserve the value of the historical property, were decided by its owners, the RFR Group from Frankfurt and the RAG Foundation in Essen, in close cooperation with Kempinski. The owners as well as Kempinski are aware of the great cultural significance of the Taschenbergpalais.

For this reason, the highest attention is being paid to a modern appearance of the hotel area while at the same time taking into account and preserving the origin and tradition of the house. With the façade and the spa area having already been renovated in recent years and the Kastenmeiers restaurant having also moved in, the renovation work, now scheduled for the coming year, will be the crowning glory.

The forecast from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) shows by 2032, the sector’s contribution to the nations GDP could reach nearly TRY 1,036 billion (US$117 billion), representing 11% of the total economy.

The sector is also expected to create more than 716,000 new jobs over the next decade.

By the end of this year, the sector’s contribution to GDP is expected to grow 15.5% to nearly TRY 607 billion (US$68.5 billion), amounting to 8.3% of the nation’s economy, while employment in the sector is set to grow by 4% to reach more than 2.5 million jobs.

Travel and Tourism sector in Turkey: Latest flight booking data from WTTC’s knowledge partner ForwardKeys shows that over the key summer period this year, Turkey is set to be the fourth most popular European hot spots amongst sun-seeking travellers, who will be heading to city destinations such as Istanbul, and the beaches of Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman.

The data shows that flight bookings are already overtaking pre-pandemic levels with bookings from the UK up 101%.

Other source markets are also outperforming 2019, with bookings from the U.S., Canada, and Ireland up 57%, 28% and 18% respectively.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said: “The future looks bright for Travel and Tourism sector in Turkey sector with its contribution to GDP set to outpace the national economy for the next 10 years, creating almost three quarters of a million new jobs.

“Flight booking data from our partner ForwardKeys clearly shows that this popular destination is set to enjoy a bumper summer season.

“Before the pandemic, Turkey’s economy was highly reliant on international tourism, so its recovery is critical to both the economy and jobs.”

Turkey’s Travel & Tourism sector’s contribution to GDP was 11% (TRY 693.3 billion or US$78.2 billion) in 2019, falling to just 5.1% (TRY 327.2 billion or US$36.9 billion) in 2020, which represented a painful 52.8% loss.

The sector also supported nearly 2.6 million jobs across the country, before suffering an 18% drop, falling to 2.1 million.

WTTC’s latest EIR report also reveals that 2021 saw the beginning of the recovery for the Turkish Travel & Tourism sector.

Last year, its contribution to GDP climbed 60.6% year on year, to reach TRY 525.5 billion (US$59.3 billion).

The sector also saw a recovery of almost 300,000 Travel & Tourism jobs, representing a 14% rise to reach more than 2.4 million.

The global tourism body says the sector’s contribution to the economy and employment could have been higher if it weren’t for the impact of the Omicron variant, which led to the recovery faltering around the world, with many countries reinstating severe travel restrictions.

The new agreement between KLM and IndiGo provides customers immediate access to the airlines’ respective networks. This constitutes a major expansion for KLM in India. KLM currently operates daily service to Delhi and five weekly flights to Mumbai. From 23 May, it will operate three weekly flights to Bangalore.

The new codeshare agreement ensures that these flights seamlessly connect with IndiGo’s extensive network in India, including cities such as Hyderabad, Jaipur, Goa and Chennai, ensuring the passengers have access to key business centres as well as popular holiday destinations.

Pieter Elbers, president & CEO KLM: “We’re very pleased with this new agreement with IndiGo. Now that the world is reopening, our partnership with IndiGo will allow us to offer customers more business and leisure destinations in the booming and thriving Indian market.

Thanks to these partner networks, we offer an increasing range of connections with the world. This agreement is an important step forward for both airlines on the way to further recovery. IndiGo is a successful airline with a modern fleet and, just like KLM, it has won many customer satisfaction awards.”

KLM adds 16 new destinations in India: Good connections with India are of great importance to KLM. India has one of the world’s fastest growing economies. It is also one of the key trading partners of the EU and has long been an important trading partner for the Netherlands.

The expansion of the number of KLM destinations in India offers many new opportunities and connections for customers who do business with India or who have established businesses there. Moreover, the easing of travel restrictions presents a growing range of holiday destinations outside Europe.

The new agreement with IndiGo offers passengers all sorts of opportunities to explore the diverse natural and culture wonders of India. With its expansive network in the United States, KLM offers a wider array of flight options to many people in India wishing to travel to the US, and vice versa.

IndiGo is amongst the fastest growing low-cost carriers in the world. IndiGo has a simple philosophy: offer fares that are affordable, flights that are on time, offering a courteous, hygienic, and hassle-free travel experience. With its fleet of 275+ aircraft, the airline is operating over 1,000 daily flights and connecting 70 domestic destinations and 24 international destinations.
