Tallinn Christmas Market Estonia – declared most beautiful market 3 years ago

Tallinn Christmas Market

Tallinn Christmas Market

Already awarded the title of the most beautiful Christmas market in Europe 3 years ago, Tallinn has become a must-see destination at Christmas.

The Tallinn Christmas Market

The market delights everyone with its coziness, historical location, centuries-old buildings and long traditions.

Christmas in Latvia will be a great experience for a short break in the Baltic States. Along with having multiple markets, Riga is one of the most affordable winter break destinations in Europe with many things to do around the city. While Riga might not be one of the first destinations that come to mind when thinking about Christmas, it’s worth noting that Riga is believed to be the first city in the world to put up a decorated Christmas tree back in 1510.

The reason to love Christmas markets is that you can find such unique gifts for loved ones back home. The Vilnius Christmas Markets have stalls that sell handmade products or organic produce from Lithuanian companies.

Royal Caribbean reveals Icon of the Seas

October 21, 2022 –

A new era of vacations starts here. Royal Caribbean International has revealed the first look at the highly anticipated Icon of the Seas, the Icon of Vacations. Arriving in late 2023 ahead of its January 2024 debut, the first Icon Class ship will be the travel industry’s first-of-its-kind combination of the best of every vacation.

Royal Caribbean

From the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure, with Icon, every kind of family and adventurer can experience their version of the ultimate family vacation. Vacationers can book their iconic adventure on Royal Caribbean’s website on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Crown & Anchor loyalty members can look out for special access on Monday, Oct. 24.

“With each new ship, we raise the bar in the travel industry while enhancing what our guests know and love,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “From the moment they step on board, every experience is specifically designed to give them the best vacation anywhere on land and at sea. With Icon of the Seas, we’ve taken this to a new level and made the ultimate family vacation.”

Whether “family vacation” means getting away as a family, couple or friends, Icon’s all-encompassing lineup features a variety of firsts and next-level favorites for everyone. There are adrenaline-pumping thrills, including the largest waterpark at sea, and unrivaled ways to chill with more ocean views and pools – one for each day of the week – than ever before, plus a blend of more than 40 new and returning dining, bar and nightlife options, and cutting-edge entertainment.

“Icon of the Seas is the culmination of more than 50 years of delivering memorable experiences and our next bold commitment to those who love to vacation,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Now more than ever, families and friends are prioritizing experiences where they can bond and enjoy their own adventures. We set out to create a vacation that makes all that possible in one place for the thrill-seekers, the chill enthusiasts and everyone in between, without compromise. It’s this first-of-its-kind combination that makes Icon the future of family vacations, and that future is here.”

Royal Caribbean begins to spotlight what’s in store with the first look at eight neighborhoods that come alive day and night, including five brand-new adventures and three bold, returning favorites. Each one is a destination in and of itself filled with an array of experiences, live entertainment and ways to grab a bite and a drink, so that everyone can make memories their way every day.

Ways to Play Across Five New Neighborhoods

Thrill Island – Vacationers can test their limits, scale new heights and reach top speeds at the center of thrill. This lost island adventure is home to highlights like Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, with six record-breaking slides: Pressure Drop and its 66-degree incline make it the industry’s first open free-fall slide; the 46-foot-tall Frightening Bolt, the tallest drop slide at sea; Storm Surge and Hurricane Hunter, the first family raft slides at sea with four riders per raft; and Storm Chasers, cruising’s first mat-racing duo. Living on the edge takes new meaning with Crown’s Edge. Part skywalk, part ropes course and part thrill ride, it culminates in a surprising, shocking moment that will see travelers swing 154 feet above the ocean.
Chill Island – Among the seven pools on board, four are in this three-deck slice of paradise. There’s a pool for every mood, each with prime ocean views: the vibrant Swim & Tonic, the line’s first swim-up bar at sea; Royal Bay Pool, the largest pool at sea; Cloud 17, an adults-only retreat; and the serene, infinity-edge Cove Pool. Plus, The Lime & Coconut returns with four locations, including Royal Caribbean’s first frozen cocktail bar.
Surfside – Introducing a neighborhood made for young families from end to end, where adults and kids ages six and under will want to stay and play all day. Grownups can soak up the endless views at Water’s Edge pool, as they keep an eye on the kids at Splashaway Bay and Baby Bay. Only steps away are dining options, places to lounge, a bar, the signature carousel, an arcade, Adventure Ocean, and Social020 for teens.
The Hideaway – Tucked away, this neighborhood 135 feet above the ocean combines the good vibes of beach club scenes around the world and the uninterrupted ocean views only a cruise can offer. The first suspended infinity pool at sea is at the center of it all, and it’s surrounded by a multilevel sun terrace with whirlpools, a variety of seating and a dedicated bar.

AquaDome – Perched at the top of Icon, what’s in store is a transformational place unlike any other. In a tranquil oasis by day, guests can take in wraparound ocean views and an awe-inspiring waterfall as they enjoy a bite or drink. By night, it becomes a vibrant place great for a night out, complete with restaurants, bars and the cruise line’s marquee aqua shows at the next-level AquaTheater. The signature entertainment venue takes artistry and cutting-edge technology to new heights, with a transforming pool, four robotic arms, state-of-the-art projection and more.
Ways to Play Across Three Familiar Neighborhoods and Favorites

The cruise line has raised the bar even further with each of its signature neighborhoods: A grander Royal Promenade features its first floor-to-ceiling ocean views, plus more than 15 restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges; a more lush and livelier Central Park has more ways to dine and be entertained; and the largest Suite Neighborhood is three decks of luxury, offering a multilevel suite sun deck – The Grove – that has a private pool, whirlpool and dining, and a two-story Coastal Kitchen. More returning favorites include experiences like new takes on mini golf at Lost Dunes, rock climbing at Adrenaline Peak, and Absolute Zero, Royal Caribbean’s largest ice arena, and dining venues such as Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar on the Royal Promenade and the Asian-inspired Izumi in Central Park.

With 28 ways to stay, even the rooms are thoughtfully designed for every type of vacationer. It’s come one, come all with more choices, ocean views and room. There are new layouts made for families of three, four, five and more, like the Family Infinite Balcony and Surfside Family Suite – with kids alcoves tucked away from the adults – and the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse, complete with its own white picket fence and mailbox. When it comes to views, among the best are from the brand’s first Sunset Corner Suites and Panoramic Ocean Views in AquaDome.

The debut of Icon Class will also mark firsts and the next step in Royal Caribbean’s journey toward a clean-energy future. Icon will be the cruise line’s first ship with fuel cell technology and powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the cleanest-burning marine fuel. Along with other proven applications, such as shore power connection and waste heat recovery systems, the new ship will be the cruise line’s most sustainable to date.

The bold, new standard of vacations also extends to the home away from home for those at the heart of Icon – the crew. Where they live and work has been reimagined with more intuitive design, amenities, room and activities, including a new, patented stateroom created by crew for crew.

Icon will sail year-round, 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean vacations from Miami. Every cruise will visit Royal Caribbean’s top-rated private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, The Bahamas, where adventurers can create their ideal vacation day. In store is everything thrill and chill, from Thrill Waterpark’s 13 waterslides, including the tallest in North America; to Coco Beach Club, featuring the first overwater cabanas in The Bahamas; and Up, Up & Away, a helium balloon adventure. When Icon arrives, the cruise line will debut the island’s adults-only oasis, Hideaway Beach, with an expansive pool, private cabanas with pools, and unmatched views of the ocean hues. Vacationers will also visit Caribbean gems like Cozumel, Mexico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and Roatan, Honduras.

The transformative project across the entire Grande Lakes Orlando resort, which also includes The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, offers guests continued legendary hospitality, enhancement of on-property, world-class experiences amongst 500 acres of natural setting—hidden in the heart of Orlando.

JW Marriott Orlando

With the goal of seamlessly integrating the lush outdoor environment with the thoughtfully appointed interiors, JW Marriott Orlando’s new amenities and offerings include: an expansive waterpark, an original culinary venue from award-winning chef John Tesar, refreshed guest rooms and suites, the introduction of inspired executive family suites, and a redesigned and upgraded lobby lounge.

“We are very excited about the completion of the repositioning of JW Marriott Orlando.” said Greg Dickhens, a Managing Partner of Trinity Real Estate Investments LLC, one of the owners of the resort. “The well-appointed guestrooms, reimagined food and beverage offerings and the spectacular new water park and poolside amenities make the JW Marriott Orlando one of the best resorts in the United States. Along with the completed renovations of The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, the Grande Lakes Resort is a premier destination in Orlando of which we are extremely proud.”

New Waterpark Experience
The newly reconfigured and expanded Grande Lakes Waterpark, inspired by the natural surroundings, now features a variety of private, full-service cabanas and a transformed outdoor space with six distinct zones that include a signature lazy river, Headwaters Slide Tower with three waterslides, a celebrated restaurant and a VIP firepit lounge—Oasis. With separate areas designed to encourage family fun or facilitate more secluded relaxation, the Grande Lakes Waterpark fits seamlessly into its lush environment and is set to become a primary attraction for guests looking for an all-ages vacation or luxury escape. Grande Lakes Orlando looks forward to welcoming guests to explore the new waterpark experience, open November 20, 2022.
New Poolside Dining
On the heels of earning one Star in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Florida 2022 for his steak and seafood restaurant Knife & Spoon at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, chef John Tesar has opened the new poolside restaurant Knife Burger at JW Marriott Orlando. Part of the completed Grande Lakes Waterpark experience, guests can now enjoy creative and casual fare by Tesar without leaving the poolside area. Tesar’s culinary mission with Knife Burger was to create the best tasting patty in town, sourcing beef from high-quality Texas-raised cattle at 44 Farms. Guests can pair their choice of burger with crispy fries or a handspun frosty shake.

New Lobby Lounge
The new EvrBar, open dusk to dawn on the lobby level, celebrates the natural Florida lifestyle, offering signature cocktails, craft beer and light bites. Situated next to Primo, the hotel’s MICHELIN Guide Florida 2022 recommended restaurant, the newly restored EvrBar space boasts an elevated experience and panoramic views of the new waterpark through floor to ceiling windows.
New Guest Rooms & Suites

Inspired by the 500-acres of lush grounds and lakes that surround Grande Lakes Orlando, the freshly updated spaces feature soft but rich tones with an overall serene and bright aesthetic to seamlessly integrate outdoor and indoor experiences across the hotel property.

For growing families, the hotel now offers seven new executive family suites with options for two- and three-bedrooms that feature built-in bunk beds perfect for teens and little ones, king-size beds for parents and separate living areas to give everyone the space they need to feel right at home. Families reserving a new family suite will receive a customized VIP pre-arrival experience that includes guest services’ assistance in building an age-appropriate itinerary for the children visiting; one in-room amenity treat per night, ranging from a chocolate to milk and cookies; board games and books; and in-suite toys and activities geared for even the youngest guests.

Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador opens with 196-key

October 21 2022 –

Accor unveils a captivating boutique hotel in Seoul with the opening of Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador. Designed to highlight an array of unique stories, South Korea’s first hotel in the MGallery Hotel Collection celebrates a perfect harmony of contemporary Korean design with the iconic Han River.

Hotel Naru Seoul

Named after the original name of the area, Maponaru, the 196-key Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador reflects the spirit of the neighbourhood through its design aesthetic and guest offerings. Artists, poets, and painters have been drawn to Maponaru’s charming nature for generations. The natural beauty and artful roots of Korean culture serves as inspiration for this captivating hotel. Featuring a modern exterior, shadow glass panels look out across the Seoul skyline connecting guests with the sweeping views of the river and allowing natural daylight to flow inside. Biophilic-inspired interiors create an intimate connection between guests and nature. The atmosphere is peaceful and calm. The Green Building certified hotel has been engineered to leave a minimal carbon footprint.

Before entering the hotel, art lovers can spend a moment admiring a giant sculpture, The Present of the Century, by local artist Jeonghwa Choi, which tells the inspiring stories of hope and love. Upon arriving in the natural-toned lobby on the 20th floor, guests are welcomed by another large cascading aluminium art installation, Airy Navigation, by the artist Haegyu Yang, reminiscent of Mapo’s history as a historic port location.

“Each MGallery hotel has a strong identity with a singular design that is steeped in the stories of each location. Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador has been authored by its surroundings and history, so it will become more than just a place to stay but an outstanding story to be lived. We are excited to offer an inspiring hotel journey that will leave passionate explorers with memorable moments at our first MGallery hotel in South Korea,” said Garth Simmons, chief executive officer of Accor Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea.

Every detail of the 196 guestrooms has been curated to create a sense of tranquillity. Natural materials, subtle colour tones of white and walnut, and comfortable rounded-edge furniture ensure an air of peacefulness. Bathroom dry amenities are made from nature-friendly materials.

The hotel offers five unique dining journeys. Overlooking the Han River, the chic French bistro Restaurant Voisin weaves the stories of the location into its design, with speciality dry-aged grills. Bar Voisin is a unique bar inspired by a traditional Asian pharmacy, where the mixologist is ready to prescribe the perfect herb-laced concoction. The Lounge & Deck is a serene spot to escape from the bustling city with locally harvested tea, handcrafted coffee, wine, and serene river views. The Pool Bar serves refreshing drinks and flavourful light bites by the infinity pool. The ground-floor café, Mapo Eight, will draw in residents, Han River runners, and visitors to enjoy its freshly baked pastries, freshly brewed coffee, and fresh juices.

The leisure facilities will nourish the soul and empower a balanced lifestyle. The hotel has two pools, an infinity pool with dramatic views and a 25-meter indoor swimming pool with floor to ceiling windows. The use of translucent and mirrored materials in the pool area harmonises water, light, and nature. The hotel also offers a natural feeling of meditative and healing ties in the fitness centre, and sauna.

The hotel’s second floor is dedicated to meetings and events, with flexible spaces to gather or celebrate. A large-sized media wall in the ballroom will make all the events even more memorable.

“We are proud to introduce the new boutique hotel concept to South Korea. Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador strives to deliver a memorable experience that is as unique as the neighbourhood itself. Maponaru and the Han River have inspired many artists in the past. Today, I believe the hotel will also inspire our guests, as they will be surrounded by the iconic views, compelling design, and art pieces from local artists,” said Simon Kim, general manager of Hotel Naru Seoul – MGallery Ambassador.

For memorable discoveries, the Mapo Hangang-Gil trail road is suitable for running or bicycling along the Han River. Also conveniently located within a few minutes’ walk are the Mapo Food Culture Streets and Subway Station.

Six Senses

Six Senses reopens in Cambodia and Bhutan with a renewed focus on elevated experiences

Six Senses

Six Senses reopens in Cambodia and Bhutan with a renewed focus on elevated experiences

October 20 2022 –

The silver lining to the pandemic has been the opportunity to rethink and reset tourism. As a priority sector in both Cambodia and Bhutan, both nations are moving away from mass tours and consumerism into rare, authentic, and meaningful experiences. By capturing the growing global trend in this direction, they aim to boost economic and environmental benefits and improve livelihoods.

Six Senses

Six Senses Bhutan
In Bhutan, high-value, low-volume tourism enables investment in transformative programs that preserve Bhutan’s cultural traditions, protect its heritage and environment, upgrade infrastructure, create opportunities for its young people, and build resilience. This model, which includes a Sustainable Development Fee, also protects the Kingdom’s natural resources, with 70% of the land remaining under forest cover.

Bhutan’s appeal is as much about its people as it is about its beauty, which is another important part of the guest experience. Visitors make deep connections with their guides, hosts, and local communities and want to come back.

Located in the Kingdom’s western and central valleys, each of the five Six Senses lodges has a unique character and interpretation of Bhutan’s spirituality, heritage, and hospitality. Six Senses Thimphu is perched on an auspicious hillside overlooking the shimmering lights of Thimphu. The “Flying Farmhouse Amidst the Rice Fields” Six Senses Punakha is a stone’s throw from the majestic Punakha Dzong. Six Senses Paro is set among stone ruins and is designed to maximize what is undoubtedly one of the most scenic settings within the Six Senses Bhutan journey. Six Senses Gangtey is in a quaint and charming area in central Bhutan, well-known as the winter residence of the black-necked cranes. Built as a forest within a forest, Six Senses Bumthang is an auspicious base to discover monuments, monasteries, and winter festivals.

Guests can visit one or any combination as part of innovative itineraries or “Khamsas”, accompanied by a private Guest Experience Maker guide and driver throughout the journey. To mark the Reopening Celebration, guests booking by October 31, 2022, will enjoy one additional complimentary night with any six-night paid stay and two extra nights with a nine-night paid stay. Landing at Paro International Airport, the 10-Night Khamsa journey offers a mix of some of Bhutan’s not-to-be-missed sites, visiting some lesser-known places along the way.

“We have a real opportunity to showcase the more hidden side of Bhutan,” says General Manager Andrew Whiffen. “From weaving through glacial valleys, rice fields, and remote mountain villages to joining Thimphu residents for circumambulations at the Memorial Chorten, trekking up to the Tiger’s Nest monastery, which dangles off a cliffside, or joining young monks for breakfast or a game of football, guests are blown away. We combine these experiences with returning to the lodge to take a dip in the pool, sample local culinary delicacies, and visit Six Senses Spa for a pampering treatment.”

Six Senses Krabey Island, Cambodia
Post-pandemic recovery in Cambodia will rely in part on a business-enabling environment for higher-value travel and tourism. Beyond the Angkor complex and Siem Reap, Cambodia is also endowed with beautiful coastlines, important conservation areas, and a significant number of heritage and cultural sites, many of which are easily accessible from Six Senses Krabey Island. With the mainland reception just a 10-minute drive from Sihanouk International Airport, it is then a short 15-minute water transfer to the resort to enjoy cultural, wellness, sporting, and signature dining experiences.

The resort will reopen on December 2 with a renewed focus on community-based experiences to interact with locals, nature, and wildlife. Guests booking the Festive Getaway by November 30 will save 20% on the Best Flexible Rate.

The 40 spacious pool villas offer a private island hideaway feel without forgoing guestroom amenities, guest services, and a spa, which crowns the island and offers a wide range of holistic rejuvenation therapies. Days are as hands-on as guests like. A visit to the organic garden on the mainland includes a pick-your-own lunch. The Hook, Line, and Catch experience starts with an ethical fishing line in hand. A Spice Trail trip to the Kampot meanders past paddy fields and houses on stilts to an authentic pepper-infused lunch at La Plantation. Time-honoured tips can be acquired during a Khmer Cooking Class.

There is a range of villas, from the Hideaway (perfect for two) to the Ocean (elevated for the views). Groups of friends or families can stay together in the Oceanfront duplex, which sleeps six and extends over two floors to maximize privacy. Set on the west side of the island, The Beach Retreat sleeps five and, as its name suggests, not only offers a private sundeck for lounging and alfresco dining but also direct access to a private beach cove. The toughest part about this one is leaving it.

“From December to February, the slightly cooler temperatures, low humidity, and long periods of sunshine make it an ideal time to visit,” says General Manager Ateeb Shrestha. “During the dry season, you can enjoy morning yoga on the rooftop pavilion or take a spin around the island jungle gym, visit temples, go on a hike or tour, or simply relax and sunbathe during the day and enjoy our boardwalk dining or movie nights under the stars at night. The Experiences Center offers a wide range of on-island and on-water activities within the resort, plus boat excursions to the surrounding islands. Teens will love the Double-Dip Hangout, which is adjacent to the horizon-edge pool and serves house-made gelatos, and children aged 4 to 12 are kept busy at the kids’ club.”

United Airlines Adds Summer Service To Three New Cities in 2023

October 20, 2022 –

United Airlines announced the launch of its 2023 summer schedule, which includes new service to three cities – Malaga, Spain; Stockholm, Sweden; and Dubai, UAE – as well as six additional flights to some of Europe’s most popular destinations, including Rome, Paris, Barcelona, London, Berlin, and Shannon. Next summer, United will operate to 37 cities in Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East, more than any other U.S. airline combined.

United Airlines

United observed unprecedented demand for travel to Europe during the summer peak, up 20% from the previous year. It is committed to expanding its network to meet continuing demand strength.

Along with new flights, United will continue to operate nine routes launched last summer, including direct flights between Newark and Nice, Denver and Munich, Boston and London Heathrow, Chicago and Zurich, and Chicago and Milan, as well as flights to four destinations not served by any other North American airline, including Amman, Jordan, Azores, Portugal, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and Tenerife, Spain.

Malaga – Newark

With additional direct flights between New York/Newark and Malaga, United adds a sixth Spanish destination to its worldwide network. Beginning 31 May 2023, passengers will be able to experience Spain’s Mediterranean coast with three weekly flights to Malaga on a Boeing 757-200.

Newark – Dubai

United will begin daily direct flights between Newark and Dubai on a Boeing 777-200ER on 25 March 2023 as part of its historic commercial deal with Emirates. Customers may then fly on Emirates or its sister airline, flydubai, to over 100 cities, providing them with more possibilities to connect around the Middle East than ever before.

Stockholm – Newark

United will resume service to Stockholm from Newark on 27 May 2023 for the first time since 2019. In 2005, United began servicing Stockholm, which residents lovingly call “beauty on the water.” With daily flights on a Boeing 757-200, United will reconnect passengers with this culturally rich and dynamic capital city.

San Francisco – Rome

United expands its industry-leading European network from San Francisco with daily flights to Rome beginning on25 May 2023 on a Boeing 777-200ER. United is the only U.S. airline that offers direct flights to Europe from its San Francisco hub. It will offer non-stop flights to seven popular European cities next summer. United continues to fly to more Italian cities from the United States, with flights to Rome, Milan, Venice, and Naples.

Shannon – Chicago

Beginning 25 May 2023, United will offer new daily flights from Chicago to Shannon, Ireland, providing travellers with more alternatives to visit some of the country’s most picturesque places, including Limerick and Galway. United is the only U.S. carrier with direct flights to Shannon from Newark. It also has direct flights to Dublin from Chicago, Newark, and Washington Dulles. This flight will be operated using a Boeing 757-200.

Washington Dulles – Berlin, Germany

United will launch a capital-to-capital service between Washington, D.C. and Berlin on 25 May 2023. United will be the only carrier to operate non-stop flights between these two cities, with daily flights on a Boeing 767-400ER.

Chicago – Barcelona

Beginning 25 May 2023, United will expand its best-in-class European network from Chicago with new direct, daily flights to Barcelona on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. United will fly more to 14 European destinations from Chicago next summer than any other airline.

Additional Flights to Paris and London

Next summer, United will have 23 daily flights to London Heathrow, with a second daily route between Los Angeles and London Heathrow beginning on 25 March on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. United has more flights and business class seats to London from New York and the west coast than any other U.S. carrier. Beginning next summer, all United flights to London Heathrow will include all-aisle access Polaris and Premium Plus seats. United’s latest London expansion includes more flights from Newark, San Francisco, and Denver, as well as new flights from Boston.

United will also add a second daily flight between Washington Dulles and Paris Charles de Gaulle on 2 June, which will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Year-round flights to Paris are now available from Newark, Washington Dulles, Chicago, and San Francisco.

New flights are subject to government approval.

Park Hyatt

Park Hyatt begins Indonesian odyssey 2023

Park Hyatt

Park Hyatt begins Indonesian odyssey 2023

October 18 2022 –

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened its first Park Hyatt property in Indonesia as part of further expansion in south east Asia.

Park Hyatt

Following the debut of Park Hyatt Jakarta, the contemporary luxury brand will be further stretching its legs into south east Asia, with upcoming sister sites in the region including island resort Park Hyatt Phu Quoc in Vietnam (Q2 2023) and Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in the Malaysian capital, delivering in Q4 2022.

Rainforest inspiration
The latest opening is situated within the Menteng area in the heart of Jakarta’s bustling central business district, occupying the top 17 floors of the 37-storey Park Tower.

The residential-style interiors of Park Hyatt Jakarta were designed by London-based design practice Conran and Partners led by partner Tina Norden. Inspired by the beauty of the Indonesian rainforests, traditional crafts and indigenous natural materials, the design uses elements such as lava stone and copper as well as handwoven ikat textile motifs, intricate wood carvings and shields to create a welcoming oasis of calm and elegance for its guests.

The visual journey through the property symbolises the layers of a rainforest, starting with a richer, darker colour scheme on the lower floors that calls to mind the forest’s understory. Reflective of branches wrapped around the trunk with dappled light filtered through the canopy, the palette becomes lighter on the higher floors with warm tones incorporated throughout. Through the atmospheric transition and evocative design, the intention is to transport guests from Jakarta’s urban bustle into a tranquil, sophisticated and comforting environment with a strong sense of location overlooking the city.

A custom art collection, curated by Indonesia’s Hadiprana design consultants, merges traditional heritage with contemporary designs. Guests can also admire specially commissioned works by celebrated Indonesian artist John Martono, whose swirling abstracts blend painting and hand embroidery on silk. European inspirations are also evident.

One of the hotel’s most striking features is a series of hand-blown crystal installations and chandeliers, made up of thousands of delicate orbs that hover like clouds, reflective of rainfall and starlit skies.

Crowning glory
A nod to the archipelago’s diverse cultural heritage, guestrooms feature exquisite traditional Indonesian crowns made from copper, which is also widely applied as an interior accent.

Park Hyatt Jakarta features 220 elegant, oversized rooms, including 36 suites. The rooms range from approximately 615 to 915 sq ft, while the suites are between approximately 935 and 2,450 sq ft. All rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Rooms are adorned with classic Indonesian decorative objects from jewels to paintings and shields, as well as marble baths and large flat-screen TVs with an integrated media hub. The hotel’s Presidential Suite covers an expansive 3,230 sq ft with its own VIP entrance, and includes a spacious bedroom with an 82-inch LED TV and a living area anchored by a work desk made from solid Trembesi wood.

High dining
Each dining outlet is adorned with natural daylight and numerous outdoor terraces. The restaurants start on level 22, where the Dining Room serves a collection of breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings that highlight Indonesian and Italian cuisines in an interactive live-cooking setting. On level 23, the Conservatory provides a selection of spaces for different occasions, serving comfort foods from savoury snacks to sweet treats with specialty teas. The Bar is where diners can enjoy light bites and crafted beverages alongside live entertainment as they admire views of Jakarta from the outdoor terrace.

Occupying the top two levels of the building and opening in the coming months, Kita喜多 Restaurant & Bar will be a choice destination for socialising and special occasions, where guests can enjoy elevated modern Japanese dining and creative cocktails amid spectacular city views. Located on level 37, the authentic Japanese concept includes a series of private rooms, comprising tatami rooms and a large VIP room with private kitchen, while Japanese motifs, textures and artworks enhance the experience. Visitors can then take in the stunning rooftop views from Kita Bar on the broader dimensions of level 36, while enjoying live sets from the resident DJs.

Celebration and relaxation
Park Hyatt Jakarta offers 10 function rooms which can accommodate up to 750 people, whether for wedding receptions or intimate gatherings. Each event space features an open kitchen and bars in the welcome foyers, creating an engaging restaurant-style environment suited for all private social gatherings and corporate meetings. Spread over four levels, the venues include the Ballroom duplex on levels 2 and 3, and the level 22 Salons overlooking Menteng. The Observatory, on level 36, offers an impressive event space with its open-air-terraces and panoramic views of Jakarta.

Located on levels 34 and 35, The Spa and fitness centre at Park Hyatt Jakarta offers a selection of wellness and leisure experiences. Personalised treatments and beauty products crafted from natural ingredients, such as betel leaves for glowing skin, can refresh guests. Pampering therapies, saunas and pools, as well as the latest Technogym cardiovascular equipment are all available.

Home from home
Park Hyatt Jakarta general manager Fredrik Harfors said: “We are delighted to welcome discerning domestic and global travellers to the first Park Hyatt hotel in Indonesia. The brand’s home-away-from-home concept unites our personalised luxury philosophy with Indonesia’s renowned gracious hospitality.

David Udell, group president, Asia-Pacific, Hyatt, added: “With Hyatt hotels operating in Indonesia for over 40 years, we are delighted to share that the Park Hyatt brand has launched in the country, introducing its refined hospitality and personal service to local residents and visitors from near and far. As more countries reopen their borders and travel confidence grows, Park Hyatt Jakarta is an exciting addition to our Park Hyatt portfolio, complementing new hotels that have opened in recent years in Auckland, Kyoto, Niseko and Suzhou.”

Ritz Carlton Luxury Yacht Evrima To Set Sail

October 17, 2022 –

The long-awaited Evrima of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection will officially begin operations this week, with the first guests welcomed on board in Barcelona on Saturday.

Ritz Carlton Luxury Yacht Evrima

The 298-passenger yacht was initially scheduled to debut in June 2020; however, it was delayed owing to severe building delays at its Spanish shipyard, followed by several deferrals due to the subsequent onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CEO Douglas Prothero stated that the line’s staff would “create history as we reinvent the ultra-luxury experience at sea,” telling Bloomberg that the ship was fully booked by Ritz-Carlton enthusiasts, many of whom had never cruised before.

Calls to the Greek Isles, Balearic Islands, and French Riviera are among the Mediterranean destinations. The routes will feature 14 ports, including Seville, Spain; Sardinia, Italy; Syros, Greece; Trogir, Croatia, and others, and overnights in Casablanca, Morocco; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Portofino, Italy, among others.

Most cruises last seven to eleven nights. Throughout the tour, passengers enjoy private, yacht-style itineraries and a slow sailing pace, immersing themselves in the region’s rich cultures, local cuisines, and natural beauty.

Qantas Resumes Direct Brisbane Tokyo Flight On 1 December

October 17, 2022 –

The Sunshine State’s tourism industry will get a boost from 1 December 2022, when Qantas will resume three weekly flights between Brisbane Airport and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

Brisbane Tokyo Flight

Ryan Both, the Executive General Manager of Aviation at Brisbane Airport, said that restoring non-stop flights between Tokyo and Brisbane would open this pipeline and benefit local businesses and the tourism economy.

The route was secured thanks to the Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, a cooperative initiative between the Queensland government and the aviation industry that has so far brought in over $200 million to promote tourism in Queensland.

The launch of Qantas flights was hailed as a significant event for Brisbane and the state of Queensland by Stirling Hinchliffe, the minister responsible for tourism in Queensland.

He stated that in the year ending in December 2019, “Japan constituted the third-largest market by expenditures and the fourth-largest by visits to Queensland before COVID-19.”

There were around 219,000 Japanese tourists in 2019, who spent $459.7 million during their visits and stayed an average of 15.8 days.

CEO of Qantas International, Andrew David, believes the new service between Haneda and Brisbane will increase tourism in Australia’s Sunshine State.

Forward reservations are tracking well, especially for the forthcoming Australian holiday period. He noted, “Qantas is the first airline to run commercial scheduled flights between Haneda and Brisbane.”

In the aftermath of the 11 October news that border restrictions were being lifted, there has been an uptick in interest among Australian tourists in visiting Japan, with 38% saying they want to do so within the next six months.

On 1 December, Qantas will launch its new service, which will see Airbus A330-300 planes depart Brisbane for Tokyo on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 11:50 a.m.

Radisson RED launches in Spain by bringing its vibrant energy to the heart of Madrid

October 13 2022 –

Set in the center of Madrid’s cultural, artistic and culinary scene, Radisson Hotel Group opens its first Radisson RED in Spain, welcoming the vibrant lifestyle brand to the country.

Radisson RED launches in Spain

Located on Calle de Atocha, one of the main bustling avenues in Madrid and in the heart of the Golden Triangle of Art, Radisson RED Madrid is steps away from some of the world’s most renowned art museums, galleries and UNESCO heritage sites. The hotel is a culinary destination in its own right, featuring three offerings from 5-star Michelin chef Eneko Atxa, one of which is situated on the rooftop providing unrivaled city views. The opening of the first Radisson RED in Spain is part of the Group’s ambitious growth plan to open 20 new hotels within the next five years, following the recent successful openings of Radisson Collection Hotel, Magdalena Plaza Sevilla, Radisson Collection Hotel Gran Vía Bilbao, and Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia.

Radisson RED Madrid occupies a historic site, originally an industrial building used as a sawmill in the 1800s before becoming a hotel 100 years later. Now on arrival, guests are welcomed by a red, statement sculpture of a bear and a tree, which takes center stage at the hotel’s entrance. The sculpture takes inspiration from the city’s original bear and strawberry tree monument which is situated in the Puerta del Sol square and represents the symbols of Madrid.

The hotel features 260 modern rooms, 10 of which are suites. Each of the rooms and suites embody Radisson RED’s signature design-focused bold, cutting-edge design and creative artwork, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows, and balconies with city views. Artwork seen throughout the property is inspired by the Renaissance and Baroque eras, as well as by works seen at the nearby Prado Museum. The Radisson RED art collection aims to be flexible, connecting with the guests’ global mindset. The hotel interiors are welcoming guests to the lobby with cozy, comfortable seating, and warm lighting. Local touches are seen in the elevators, where panels are upholstered using the typical fabrics of Madrid.

Situated just 500 meters away from Madrid Atocha railway station, Radisson RED Madrid is located in proximity of renowned heritage sites and art museums. Among these are the internationally-acclaimed Museo Reina Sofia, known for its impressive collection of 20th century paintings; the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the second largest private collection in the world after the British Royal Collection; and the iconic Prado Museum, home to the world’s largest and most important collection of Goya and Velázquez paintings, as well as works by many other Spanish and foreign artists. The hotel is also only few meters away from the Royal Botanic Gardens, as well as the Landscape of Light, recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Radisson RED Madrid will be home to three signature culinary experiences by 5-star Michelin chef, Eneko Atxa. On the ground floor, guests can enjoy Basque and Japanese fusion cuisine at NKO, which first opened earlier this year at Radisson Collection Hotel, Gran Vía Bilbao, while the rooftop terrace will feature Nigiri Basque House by NKO, offering impressive panoramic views of the Madrid skyline and the perfect photo opportunity while enjoying Atxa’s signature, original nigiris. Both restaurants will open in early November. A third culinary experience, DeBokata, will be a takeaway corner where Atxa will pay tribute to his favorite street foods by serving different takes on sandwiches with a touch of innovation, as well as offering takeaway cocktails and craft beers. The hotel’s lobby also has a bar, Oso Rojo, featuring cocktails, live music on selected days and an all-day menu including light snacks, sandwiches and small plates.

Tom Flanagan Karttunen, Area Senior Vice President for Northern & Western Europe at Radisson Hotel Group says, “We’re extremely proud to open the doors to Spain’s first Radisson RED property. The brand showcases a playful twist on the conventional with a strong focus on art and design, which is celebrated throughout the hotel. This new property fits right into the city’s vibrant offering, and we can’t wait to introduce it to the local and international market.”

Sam Bath, General Manager of Radisson RED Madrid, says, “Radisson RED Madrid is the perfect addition to this cosmopolitan city. Thoughtful local touches, including the statement bear and strawberry tree sculpture at the hotel’s entrance, promise to create a truly unique and dynamic experience for guests. Complete with exciting culinary options, a lively bar, and spacious lobby with upbeat music and quirky design pieces, Radisson RED Madrid will be an urban getaway like no other.”

Alongside the hotel’s cool communal spaces where locals and guests can gather and socialize, a gym featuring the latest fitness equipment will open in early November. Radisson RED Madrid also provides the perfect location for any type of meeting or celebration. Facilities include a large main meeting area as well as more intimate meeting spaces for up to 12 people with a terrace, offering spectacular views of Madrid. These elegant and sophisticated areas blend high tech with playful design to create the ideal spot for business events or social functions. The hotel operates a digitalized check-in and check-out service, allowing guests to maximize their time in Madrid and explore the rich cultural attractions the city has to offer, as well as app-based service personalization and BYOD (bring your own device) for Chromecast connection.

With the health and safety of guests and team members as its top priority, Radisson RED Madrid is implementing the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol program. The in-depth cleanliness and disinfection protocols were developed in partnership with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company, and are designed to ensure guest safety and peace of mind from check-in to check-out.
