Vietnam reopens its borders to all travellers from 15 March – excellent news

Vietnam reopens its borders

February 23, 2022 – Vietnam reopens its borders to all travellers starting March 15.

The country with the strictest COVID-19 restrictions is getting ready to welcome visitors.

Vietnam reopens its borders to all travels

For the past two years, Vietnam’s borders have been closed for international travellers. But this spring, with the easing of restrictions, visitors will finally be able to finally plan their holiday to this beautiful country and discover its beaches, history, cuisine and culture. Vietnam is planning to reopen its borders to tourists from 15 March 2022. The proposal by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism suggests lifting of all major travel restrictions and allowing tourists into the country three months ahead of schedule. In a recent update, the country had ended its limitations on international passenger flights effective 15 February, restoring the number of flights to pre-pandemic levels.

Vietnam’s rules for entry

Requirements for visitors travelling to Vietnam:

  • All incoming travellers will need to present negative reports for COVID-19 by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method 72 hours before departure or by Rapid Antigen Test 24 hours before arrival (except for children under two years of age). They will also need to get tested within 24 hours of arrival into the country.
  • All visitors need to be fully vaccinated, with the second dose administered within the last six months and no less than 14 days prior to their travel to Vietnam.
  • While unvaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter the country as well, they will need to quarantine for seven days upon arrival.
  • Other visitors will be quarantined for one day upon arrival, and will need to carry travel insurance for up to $10,000 to cover any COVID-19 related costs.

Vietnam has followed some of the most stringent pandemic protocols in the past two years and is now looking to revive its tourism sector by easing restrictions for travellers.

Italy to ease Covid rules for non-EU arrivals on March 1st

blank

Italy to ease Covid rules for non-EU arrivals on March 1st

February 23, 2022 – Italy to ease Covid rules for non-EU arrivals on March 1st.

Italy will no longer require travellers to show both proof of vaccination or recovery from Covid and a negative test result, the health minister said on Tuesday.

“Starting from March 1st, for arrivals from all non-European countries, the same rules already established for European countries will be in force,” wrote Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza on his Facebook page.
He said either a vaccination certificate, recovery certificate or negative test result would be sufficient for entry to Italy from that date.

The change means arrivals from non-EU countries from February will no longer need to show both proof of vaccination or recent recovery plus a negative test result, as is currently the case.

It also appears to mean the removal of the requirement for unvaccinated passengers to quarantine for five days on arrival, and the lifting of restrictions on non-essential travel from ‘list E’ countries.

The health ministry has not yet updated official travel information on its website, and no further details of the new rules were immediately available.

Speranza’s announcement came shortly after a recommendation on Tuesday from the EU council, made up of member states, that all countries “should lift the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel to the EU for people vaccinated with an EU or WHO approved vaccine, provided they have received the last dose of the primary vaccination cycle at least 14 days ago and no more than 270 days prior to arrival, or have received a booster dose.”

Italy operates a two-tiered health certificate system, meaning proof of vaccination or recovery (not a negative test result) is currently needed for access to everything from hotels and restaurants to public transport under rules set to stay in force until at least March 31st.

Travellers from any other European member state can show their country’s version of the green pass, or health pass – which is recognised on par with Italy’s – to gain access to all venues where it is required.

Italy also recently announced special exceptions for some non-EU tourists meaning they may not have to show the same proof of vaccination as residents.

The Italian health ministry is set to review its other travel restrictions for arrivals by March 15th.

China recovery travel and tourism sector – could reach CNY 11 trillion this year, says WTTC

blank

China recovery travel and tourism sector:

February 23, 2022 – China recovery travel and tourism sector.

Sector’s contribution to the GDP could be just 5.2% behind pre-pandemic levels

Millions of jobs to be recovered if governments continue to remove restrictions to travel

China recovery travel and tourism sector

New research from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has revealed China’s Travel & Tourism sector’s contribution to GDP could reach CNY 11 trillion this year, just 5.2% short of pre-pandemic levels.

In 2019, before the pandemic struck, China’s Travel & Tourism sector’s contributed CNY 11.5 trillion to GDP (11.6% of the country’s economy).

However, in 2020 the pandemic had a major impact on the sector and Travel & Tourism’s contribution to the Chinese economy fell by a staggering 59.9%, to CNY 4.6 trillion.

China recovery travel and tourism sector: Latest research from the global tourism body shows that as the national economy begins to recover, the contribution of the sector to the country’s economy and jobs could reach almost pre-pandemic levels this year.

WTTC research shows that if China, with more than 87% of its population already fully inoculated, begins to ease restrictions throughout the year, the sector’s contribution to GDP could reach CNY 11 trillion in 2022, just 5.2% behind pre-pandemic levels.

After a loss of more than 16 million jobs in 2020, when Travel & Tourism businesses in China suffered serious losses due to severe travel restrictions and complete border closures, most of these could be recovered if the country continues to focus on its Travel & Tourism sector and particularly reopening its borders to international visitors.

The sector could recover more than 14 million jobs to reach nearly 81 million jobs in 2022 – just 1.7% below 2019 levels.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said: “China is a critical player in the global Travel & Tourism sector. It has done well to drive domestic tourism during the pandemic, but international travel has come to a halt. The benefits to opening borders represent a boost in both economic wealth and jobs.

“Our latest research shows 2022 could bring a strong recovery for Travel & Tourism globally, with pent-up demand and vaccination rates driving the recovery of this economically boosting sector.

“Millions of livelihoods depend on a thriving Travel & Tourism sector, but there is still work ahead if we want to achieve a full economic recovery and bring back all the jobs that were lost.”

A look at the Asia Pacific region

WTTC’s research shows the forecast for the Asia Pacific region could be equally positive, with the region’s Travel & Tourism sector also approaching pre-pandemic levels this year.

According to the research, the sector’s contribution to the region’s GDP could reach CNY 20 trillion (USD 2.9 trillion), near pre-pandemic levels, while employment could reach over 190 million jobs, surpassing 2019 figures and providing an additional five million jobs to the sector.

China recovery travel and tourism sector:

To reach close to pre-pandemic levels this year, WTTC says the Chinese government and governments around the world must continue focussing on the vaccine and booster rollout – allowing fully vaccinated travellers to move freely without the need for testing.

The global tourism body also urges governments to ditch the patchwork of restrictions and enable international travel using digital solutions that allow travellers to prove their status in a fast, simple, and secure way.

Israel allows entry of travellers

Israel allows entry of travellers

February 22 2022 – Israel will allow unvaccinated tourists entry for the first time since the pandemic began as infections and deaths caused by the coronavirus decline, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced.

Israel allows entry of travellers in 2022

“We are seeing a consistent decline in morbidity data,” Bennett said. Israel shut its borders to travellers in early 2020 as the coronavirus spread worldwide. “It is time to gradually open what we were the first in the world to close,” the Prime Minister said.

The Jewish state was also an early trailblazer of a national vaccine rollout and among the first countries to demand a vaccination certificate, which it called the green pass, to enter a range of facilities.

Under new rules taking effect on March 1, tourists will need to take a PCR test before boarding a flight to Israel and a second one upon landing. Israeli citizens will only be required to take the test upon arrival.

More than 10,000 new cases of Covid-19 were reported last week in Israel, down from a high of more than 85,000 daily cases in late January. A total of 9,841 people have died from the illness. An attempt to open the borders to vaccinated visitors last November foundered after just a few weeks because of the fast-spreading Omicron coronavirus variant.

Museum of the Future opens in Dubai

airline news

museum-of-the-future-dubai

blank

February 22 2022 – The Museum of the Future has opened in Dubai, welcoming guests to what promises to be one of the most exiting attractions in the destination.

Museum of the Future opens in Dubai

Located next to the Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed Road, it opens on the historically significant 22/02/2022.

A gateway to the world 50 years from now, the landmark development will contribute to a better humanity and stronger global economy by demonstrating how next-generation solutions – incorporating everything from artificial intelligence to augmented reality – can enhance our lives.

The building is an “architectural and engineering marvel, confidently straddling the past and the future and applying advanced technology to traditional artforms,” according to authorities in the United Arab Emirates.

It also ‘speaks Arabic’ – the facade is a canvas for the poetry of sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum rendered in the calligraphy of Mattar bin Lahej.

Of the three quotes enveloping the facade, one translates to: “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it and execute it. It isn’t something you await, but rather create.”

The form is futuristic, with the building hoping to “open a new path away from the high-rise towers that dominate skylines everywhere,” especially in Dubai.

The development was conceived by Killa Design and is composed of over 1,000 individual fiberglass and stainless-steel exterior elements.

Outside, the museum has a garden with 100 plant species reflecting the United Arab Emirates’ heritage and biodiversity.

Trees and plants, from ghaf and sidr, to palm and acacia trees, are all sprouting from the green plateau where the building stands.

A release ahead of the opening said: “The museum builds on the visionary culture that has transformed the United Arab Emirates’ into one of the most advanced nations in the world in less than 50-years.

“We are a showcase for the spirit of courage, optimism and innovation that propels Dubai forward.

“Like our home city, the museum is a place of tolerance, inviting varied cultural, philosophical, social and spiritual outlooks.

“Our goal is to provide light in dark times: in an age of anxiety and cynicism about the future, we are showing that things can and must progress.”

Furthering a global intellectual movement, the museum is also the headquarters for the city’s Great Arab Minds initiative that aims to identify 1,000 exceptional Arab talents across key fields.

The Museum of the Future is an initiative from the Dubai Future Foundation.

The organisation was formed in 2016 by sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.

The museum claims it will be a gateway to a future world, crafted by visionary designers, artists and filmmakers.

It combines elements of exhibition, immersive theatre and themed attractions.

Visitors will have the chance to engage with this game-changing technology.

Each floor of the museum is designed like an expansive, interactive movie set, brought to life by expert storytellers, technologists and visionary artists.

Topics in focus include the future of space travel and living, climate change and ecology, health, wellness and spirituality.

Aside from ground-breaking innovations, there will also be special workshops and talks from the world’s greatest minds.

Children aged three to ten can enjoy an open-world experience at the Future Heroes environment, a dedicated area designed to encourage little ones to tap into their potential.

Kempinski grows in Saudi Arabia and expands portfolio with stylish luxury hotel on the Red Sea

With direct access to the Red Sea waterfront on the secluded offshore of Al Mahar Island and part of the lively port city of Yanbu, arises the upcoming luxury five star Kempinski Hotel & Resort Yanbu, opening later this year.

Kempinski Hotel Yanbu

The property will reopen as the leading luxury resort hotel in the Royal Commission of Yanbu in western Saudi Arabia. After a complete closure during the coming months, the existing sprawling complex will be meticulously renovated and repositioned in readiness for the most discerning guests.

Offering exclusivity, a bespoke welcome, a place of belonging and a truly private enclave of tranquillity; it will be renowned for its elegance on the beachfront.

In keeping with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the property will cater to myriad travellers, no matter their reason for visiting the area. The Kempinski Hotel Yanbu will be known as a place for conducting business in addition to being a favoured location for leisure guests.

The building plan of the Kempinski hotel Yanbu includes a reduction in the number of deluxe rooms, resulting in 23 spacious additional suites, perfectly complementing the 12 architecturally designed villas and 48 designer apartments, tailored for a bespoke clientele with a taste for the extraordinary.

Five high-quality restaurants and lounges will offer exquisite culinary experiences with Kempinski bringing its world-renowned food and beverage knowledge and award-winning chefs to Yanbu.

An infinity pool, a fitness centre, a private beach, a marina for excursions to enjoy a day at sea, a diving school as well as spacious meeting and conference areas, which are also particularly suitable for stylish weddings, leave nothing to be desired. A separate and exclusive 3000 sq m Ladies’ Spa with its secluded beach, steam baths, hammam, treatment rooms, restaurant and tea lounge, as well as a future prestigious Royal Villa, round off the comprehensive offer.

Indeed, the destination of Yanbu has a lot to offer: While in the old town, an important post on the spice route, guests can visit a typical Hijazi building where the famous British military officer T.E. Lawrence lived, the night market Souk Al Lail invites to stroll in the late evening.

At Yanbu Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in the country, a botanical paradise enchants with flora from all over the world, and in the coral-rich bay of Sharm Yanbu, divers find their tourist highlight. In the northeast of the city, Mount Radwa rises to 2,200 m, the highest point in the Al-Nakhil Mountains, known for honey and wild nature and the destination of regular tours.

The future Kempinski Hotel & Resort Yanbu is only 20 minutes away from Yanbu International Airport, which offers domestic flights to Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh, as well as flights to Cairo, Istanbul, Dubai and Sharjah. By car, it is less than 2.5 hours to Al Madinah and 3.5 hours to Makkah.

Culinary delights in Munich

Culinary delights in Munich

Soak up the romantic atmosphere of the city, while
strolling through the quaint streets of Old Town
Munich and visit the 200-year-old Viktualienmarkt,
the charming local food market.

Munich is the third-largest city in Germany and famous for a lot of things, ranging from the world’s largest beer fest to men in leather shorts, but one thing Munich definitely is not known for its great, contemporary food.

Culinary delights in Munich: Not many Munich restaurants have carried their reputation across the borders of the city and even locals are quite skeptic when it comes to Munich’s culinary offering.

The type of food Munich is obviously famous for are the celebrated beer garden and Gaststuben classics: Weißwürste (the boiled, white veal sausage), Haxen (Braised pork knuckle), Leberkäse (a loaf-formed sausage) and Obazda (the intense cheese-mix-spread, best eaten with Brezeln) – the hearty dishes that are the the symbol of German food for many non-Germans.

The Bavarians do them best, and few things compare to sitting at one of the countless beer gardens and downing a couple of pints of the local brew whilst feasting on these classics.

For beer gardens you really shouldn’t miss the iconic Chinese Tower in the centre of the park Englischer Garten. The park itself is worth a longer excursion with an arm of the mountain river Isar floating right through it and city surfers riding an eternal wave in the beginning of the park.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating – after this tour no-one will go home hungry! You will learn a lot of the history and recent events of this place as well as
background information whilst enjoying various
typical specialties at different market stalls. A wide
range of culinary delicacies awaits you.

Take your time to visit the Viktualienmarkt and
taste the local delicacies from our region. A unique
experience!

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022 – dates confirmed for June 10-12 spectators allowed

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

February 21, 2022 – F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

Fantastic news – the dates have been announced for the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022. It will take place from June 10-12 this year. Spectators will be allowed.

The Grand Prix is one of the most challenging and punishing circuits on the F1 calendar, pitting drivers against some of the tightest corners and fastest straights around.

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

Initially held as the European Grand Prix in 2016, the Baku City Circuit hosted the first Azerbaijan Grand Prix a year later in one of the five street courses on the calendar in 2017.

Designed by architect Hermann Tilke, the circuit follows a series of right-angled turns into rapid flat-out sections which, before the introduction of new aerodynamics rules in 2016, pushed cars to speeds of over 360 km/h.

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022:

Comparable to the tight twists of Monaco – in the way that the track forces drivers to both commit to each turn while being aware of the perils of straying too close to the edge – the Baku City Circuit has been the site of numerous high-speed crashes.

Charles Leclerc learned that the hard way in 2019 by crashing at Turn 8 in qualifying. The section is the tightest on the Formula 1 calendar, and sees the cars work their way around Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city walls.
