Radisson Hotel Group becomes world’s first hotel group to offer carbon negative meetings

blank

October 18, 2021 – Radisson Hotel Group becomes world’s first hotel group to offer carbon negative meetings

Radisson Hotel Group is proud to be the world’s first hotel group to make all meetings and events across 400+ hotels in its EMEA portfolio carbon negative. For every event taking place at its participating hotels, Radisson Hotel Group will offset double the carbon footprint, to ensure that every meeting has a positive impact on the environment.

For meetings booked between 18 October 2021 and 31 January 2022 and taking place before 31st March 2022, Carbon Negative. Planet Positive will set a new sustainability standard in the global hospitality industry. The program allows clients to host meetings in a sustainable way by offsetting double the CO2 emissions from meetings and events free of charge to the client, making meetings that take place during this period at participating hotels carbon negative.

Carbon Negative. Planet Positive reinforces the Group’s 100% Carbon Neutral meetings offering, in place across the Group’s 1,600 hotels worldwide since 2019. The initiative forms part of the Group’s wider Responsible Business program which targets reducing the Group’s carbon footprint by 30%, and which aims to set science-based targets. Since the launch of the 100% Carbon Neutral Meetings program, the Group has offset over 30,300 tons of CO2 at no cost to its clients, which is the equivalent to removing more than 6,500 fuel driven cars1 off the road.

Carbon Negative, Planet Positive meetings complement the Group’s Hybrid Meetings solutions which launched in 2020 and offer owners and guests the flexibility and space optimization they require to better meet the rapid lifestyle changes of today’s travelers. Hybrid Meetings are available across more than 100 hotels in EMEA and contribute to a lighter scope 3 footprint for the client.

“The upcoming COP26 conference will see world leaders come together to discuss climate change which needs all our attention. At Radisson Hotel Group, we are constantly reviewing how we as a global business can influence positive climate action, and how we can encourage the hospitality industry to push the boundaries on green meetings and events. We are proud to be pioneering this initiative and trust that meeting organizers around the globe recognize the positive impact they can have on the environment as face-to-face meetings increase,” says Eric de Neef, Executive Vice President, Global Chief Branding & Commercial Officer.

“Carbon Negative. Planet Positive allows you to make your meetings carbon negative and your impact planet positive. With the return of business travel, now is the time to have a positive impact. For Radisson Hotel Group, it is important that we offset carbon emissions according to the highest quality standards and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is why we select offsetting projects that are not only good for the environment, but also socially relevant. This initiative plays a key role in helping us achieve our Responsible Business targets to protect people, planet, and community,” says Inge Huijbrechts, Global Senior Vice President Sustainability, Security and Corporate Communications.

For each meeting, the carbon footprint is calculated using the HCMI methodology2 and then offset through projects which are Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) recognized. These projects combat climate change and contribute to sustainable development in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and include: a clean cooking and safe water program in Kenya, wind farm projects in Turkey, India, and the US to generate green electricity, a forest protection program in Peru to reduce deforestation sustainably, and a biogas project in rural China. In addition, members of Radisson’s Radisson Rewards loyalty program can also choose to redeem their loyalty points to offset their stay.

Carbon Negative. Planet Positive. will be available from October 18, 2021 to January 31, 2022, for meetings and events taking place between October 18, 2021, and March 31, 2022. For more information, please visit:

This Five-star Paris Hotel Is a Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate Lover’s Dream

hotel news

Le Bristol Paris, part of the Oetker Collection, wants to give its guests a true taste of the finer things in life. And that includes bringing the best cheeses in the world to their brand-new, in-house fromage cellar.

In 2019, the luxury hotel in Paris unveiled the first iteration of its Les Ateliers du Bristol workshops with widely acclaimed chef Éric Fréchon’s artisanal flour mill and bakery. The following year, Le Bristol brought a chocolate factory into the mix with head pastry chef Julien Alvarez, followed quickly by an updated wine cellar. And now, the hotel is ready to unveil its latest on-site craftsman offering: a cheese-aging cellar.

“First came the living bread crafted with freshly milled heritage wheat in the on-site bakery, then the magnificent handmade delights of the chocolate factory and the exclusive wine cellar. Now, Les Ateliers du Bristol is introducing the fourth expertise to its refined offering with the addition of the in-house cheese cellar,” a spokesperson for the hotel shared in a statement to Travel + Leisure.

According to the spokesperson, the new fromagerie is the realization of a shared vision between Le Bristol’s Fréchon and award-winning cheesemaker Marie-Anne Cantin. The atelier features an aging cellar, home to a seasonal selection of cheeses, some of which are prepared at Le Bristol’s kitchens. All the cheese is left to develop and mature in the cool, dark cellar, lined in wood and maintained with the perfect balance of humidity so you can come to experience the ideal bite.

Visitors to the hotel are welcome to visit the cheese cellar for a taste of rare selections of Khorasan bread, also baked on the premises, paired with a rich comte or a smooth chevre, all aged in the on-site cellar.

“Never one to miss out on an opportunity to express his creativity, chef Fréchon will enrich the selection of cheeses from time to time with his own recipes, including a salted butter camembert marinated in calvados and enrobed in breadcrumbs,” the spokesperson added.

Cheeses from the in-house cheese cellar are served at the hotel’s restaurants including Epicure, 114 Faubourg, and Café Antonia. So, if you’re enthralled by the notion of cheese, chocolate, and wine all aged in house — with bread baked on the premises — it’s time to book a stay for an unforgettable Parisian adventure.

Zurich Unveils New Convention Facilities

hotel news

Zurich, known as Switzerland’s “Smart Meeting City,” has recently unveiled several new and renovated facilities, which further expand the offerings of the city’s meetings infrastructure, which has the ability to host all kinds of events, from sustainable “green” meetings to hybrid format meetings to full-scale conventions.

The Circle Convention Center, a new destination at the Zurich Airport, is now open. The brand-new convention center is just “a stone’s throw” from the airport terminal buildings and offers event space covering more than 54,000 square feet, which makes it well suited for hosting conventions, events and meetings, in addition to gala dinners, trade fairs and product launches. A total of 550 guestrooms and suites at the Hyatt Regency Zurich and Hyatt Place Zurich Airport The Circle can accommodate guests of large-scale events. Even the park has an infrastructure for outdoor events. Prepared for hybrid events, the convention center also offers a virtual TV studio with the latest technology.

Known for hosting smaller events, the foundation at the Arena Convention Expo (ACE) can now host large conventions. Thanks to a collaboration between the Hallenstadion, the largest covered event hall in Switzerland (more than 150,000 square feet), and its neighbour, the Messe Zurich, which offers seven halls spread over 323,000 square feet of space, this new expo space aims to provide clients with every service from a single source.

After four years of reconstruction, the Congress Center and Tonhalle Zurich is once again open for events. This is the first convention center in Switzerland where guests and event planners don’t have to think about their carbon dioxide footprint: The building itself, the catering concept and the center’s central location in the heart of the city by the lake (making it easily accessible by foot), make the implementation easy. And the centre will offset any surplus carbon impact.

LTI announces the world’s best luxury hotel brands 2021

LTI – Luxury Travel Intelligence – has taken the past 12 months to apply the perfect assessment process: a rigorously defined algorithm that measures the performance and values of luxury hotel brands.

This year, our algorithm has 131 touch points relevant to the luxury hotel sector. Each has its own weighted score value with a total maximum accumulative score of 4736.

The touch points relate to overall brand performance, rather than the performance of individual properties. It is all about a brand’s ability to deliver: its passion, commitment, ethos and values, as well as the quality of its management and staff.

Continuing investment and how well it is executed is also a major factor, particularly regarding new properties and the refurbishment of existing ones.

October 14, 2021 – Iconic Luxury Brand to Usher in a New Era of Enchantment in the World’s Most Exquisite Leisure Locales in Bermuda, Mexico, Morocco, Aruba, China, the Dominican Republic, Oman and Qatar

Solidifying St. Regis Hotels & Resorts’ position as a leader in luxury, the iconic brand expects to expand its existing portfolio of 15 curated resorts with plans to debut eleven new enchanted escapes by 2025 in some of the world’s most coveted leisure destinations, including locales most desired by the next generation of luxury travelers within the Caribbean, North America, North Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. St. Regis has 49 open hotels and resorts today, with 29 hotels and resorts in its pipeline, representing expected growth of nearly 60 percent over the next five years in both urban and leisure destination.

“This is a pivotal moment for St. Regis as we expect to nearly double our existing resort portfolio by 2025. Our resorts offer a leisure experience inspired by the glamorous private retreats of St. Regis’ founding family, the Astors, and we cannot wait to bring the brand’s spirit of invention and cherished traditions to some of the world’s most beguiling destinations,” said George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “From Los Cabos to Sanya, and Marrakech to the Riviera Maya, we are thoughtfully expanding the brand while marking a commitment to providing extraordinary resort experiences in the places where we know global luminaries want to travel.”

These highly anticipated new resorts will introduce the brand’s visionary spirit, avant-garde style and bespoke service in some of the most dynamic and compelling markets across the globe. Expanding its footprint in Mexico, St. Regis is expected to debut The St. Regis Kanai Resort in 2022 and The St. Regis Los Cabos Resort in 2023. Located in the captivating Mayan Riviera, The St. Regis Kanai Resort will feature a sophisticated design that boasts breathtaking ocean views from every vantage point, with plans that call for 124 guest rooms and suites, as well as 32 exclusive villas with private pools. The striking St. Regis Los Cabos Resort will be located on 33 pristine acres in Quivira, Los Cabos, featuring 1,200 ft. of panoramic coastal views. The resort is expected to offer 120 rooms and 60 residences, as well as a spa, golf course, beach club and three distinctive dining experiences. In the Middle East, the brand plans to grow its presence in Qatar with the expected early 2022 opening of The St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island, The Pearl, which will feature architecture influenced by the distinct Andalusian and Arabesque style and offer stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.

With a continued focus on the Caribbean in the coming years, in 2024 St. Regis is expected to debut in Aruba with The St. Regis Aruba Palm Beach Resort, as well as in the Dominican Republic with the highly anticipated opening of The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort.

The brand also anticipates celebrating its entry into Oman in 2024 with The St. Regis Al Mouj Resort in Muscat, and in the same year, expects the debut of The St. Regis Sanya Haitang Bay Resort in Sanya, Hainan’s most southern tip, which is often referred to as the “Hawaii of the East”. Additionally, St. Regis is expected to open a property in Africa, with the debut of The St. Regis Marrakech Resort slated for 2025.

St. Regis’ existing resort portfolio touches all corners of the globe, ranging from Bal Harbour to Bora Bora and Aspen to Abu Dhabi. Most recently, in May 2021, The St. Regis Bermuda Resort opened its doors in the historic town of St. George’s. Just steps from the soft white sands of St. Catherine’s Beach, the resort boasts 120 elegant guestrooms including 29 exquisite suites and an ultra-luxury residential development offering two- and three-bedroom residences. Each guestroom is designed to bring the outdoors in, with custom furnishings, marble bathrooms and a private balcony with breathtaking ocean views. Guests are able to enjoy unparalleled leisure and wellness facilities, including the historic Five Forts Golf Course, St. Regis Spa and state of the art cuisine. The St. Regis Qingdao debuted in August 2021 and features 233 guest rooms designed to pay homage to the destination and welcomes guests to enjoy one of China’s most beautiful coastal cities. Travelers can experience winding cobbled streets and heritage German architecture, or they can relax at one of the beaches nestled against the Yellow Sea. Deutsche Hospitality and the Porsche Design Group are joining forces to present the Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels brand, a hotel concept in the Luxury Lifestyle Segment. Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels will bring together design, technology and lifestyle at the very highest level. The result will be a unique brand experience created from the design philosophy and values of the exclusive Porsche Design lifestyle brand. This will be combined with the excellence and experience of Steigenberger, which boasts a representative tradition stretching back for more than 90 years.

Investor interest in Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels is considerable. The first planning stage involves the establishment of up to 15 hotels in global metropolises such as London, Singapore, Dubai and Shanghai.

“Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels creates a brand which marries the design philosophy and values of the exclusive Porsche Design brand with the hospitality and service quality of a Steigenberger hotel,” said Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG/Deutsche Hospitality. “Our joint goal is to establish a new hotel product for a global target group which seeks uniqueness and which has the highest aspirations regarding quality.”

“Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels will boast an unusual and exceptional spatial and lighting concept,” stated Dr. Jan Becker, CEO of Porsche Design Group. “Innovative rooms and suites will feature a singular design and interior which captures the spirit of the environment. Travellers in search of extraordinary experiences will be able to find Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels at some of the world’s most breath-taking locations.”

The hotels will offer at least 150 rooms, suites, and penthouses. They will also have a remarkable restaurant and bar concept, exclusive Meet&Greet Cubes, and a health and beauty facility and gym extending over a minimum area of 1,000 square metres.

Deutsche Hospitality already maintains a presence in the Luxury, Upscale, Midscale and Economy Segments via the existing brands. “We have set ourselves the objective of achieving significant worldwide growth by 2027,” Mr. Bernhardt continued. “For us, Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels constitutes an important step towards appealing to an attractive target group in the long term and towards meeting growing requirements for individuality, exclusivity, design and an inimitable hotel experience.”

The development of Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels is enabling Porsche Design to transfer its brand philosophy to exterior and interior architecture. This will allow design expertise to be made accessible to a broad section of the public via the vehicle of outstanding hotel projects. Jan Becker: “The brand perception factor is becoming increasingly important for customers. In hotels we convey the brand experience in a unique way, and this makes it possible to introduce additional differentiation to the market.”

October 12, 2021 –

The 92-key Henn na New York brings something different to one of the world’s most competitive hospitality markets.

Entering the US in style

Venturing out of Japan for the very first time, Henn na Hotel Group has made its international debut with the launch of a fun scheme at 235 West 35th Street in the US’ largest city. Henn na New York, which opened on 1 October 2021, joins the 20 other properties in its portfolio, offering a stylish and tech-forward stay paired with playful hospitality experiences.

Located at the point that some of the city’s most dynamic neighbourhoods meet, the hotel provides easy access to the Garment District, Hudson Yards and High Line Park, as well as Midtown Manhattan. Its 92 king and double guestrooms and Gosuke restaurant are accompanied by a signature feature of Henn na Hotels, a five-foot animatronic T-Rex model prominently positioned in the lobby.

Impressive Japanese amenities

The accommodation here is designed for both business and leisure travellers, with amenities including deep tubs, streaming TV, wifi, CO Bigelow bath products, luxury Kassatex linens and kimono waffle robes, as well as Toto Washlets in all the bathrooms. Executive rooms and suites come with LG Styler Closets for steaming and refreshing clothes, and suites also feature deep-soaking tubs and private balconies.

Guests and locals can dine at the first-floor Japanese restaurant, Gosuke, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner each day of the week. Acclaimed executive chef Isami Nagai is behind the culinary offering, which encompasses fresh sushi, sashimi and other authentic Japanese specialties.

Henn na Hotels is known for pioneering the robot hotel trend in Japan, with animatronic hosts undertaking basic functions such as guest check-in and luggage storage. In New York, however, real people will look after the front desk and other guest services.

Lotte Hotel accredited with ‘GBAC STAR’ by ISSA

hotel news

October 12, 2021 –

LOTTE HOTEL, the first Korean hotel brand to achieve GBAC STAR for all its five-star hotels. All hotels are equipped with strict hygiene systems to prevent diseases spreading.

The catchword for V-nomics of the post-pandemic era is safety. Global chain hotels have introduced services befitting the new normal by establishing hygiene systems and preventive measures, and by offering contactless services.

According to a survey conducted by Expedia Group in July, travellers prioritised hygiene conditions, preventive measures and contactless services when planning their trips. Whilst the expectation for safety standards continues to grow higher, the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR certification achieved by LOTTE HOTEL, the largest hotel group in Korea, draws attention.

In December 2020, the hotels SIGNIEL Seoul, SIGNIEL Busan as well as LOTTE HOTEL Seoul, LOTTE HOTEL World, LOTTE HOTEL Jeju and LOTTE HOTEL Ulsan have achieved the GBAC STAR certification from International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA). The first accreditation was given to SIGNIEL Seoul in November 2020, followed by all five-star LOTTE HOTELS in Korea’s international acknowledgement.

ISSA is the most reputable worldwide association for hygiene industry, located in Northbrook, Illinois. GBAC STAR is the accreditation for hotels, restaurants and other public facilities that strictly abide by hygiene regulations and have preventive systems.

Facilities are systematically evaluated based on 20 strict global standards concerned with cleaning, disinfection and preventive programmes. The evaluation is conducted by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council, comprising experts in biorisk field.

“The GBAC STAR certification is a global accreditation for disinfection system within a facility,” said a LOTTE HOTEL spokesperson. “A facility accredited with this certification constantly cleans and disinfects to the degree that of a hospital.”

Like this, LOTTE HOTEL has fortified disinfection and hygiene management to ensure guests’ safety against virus and contamination. In August 2020, ISSA experts gave consultation by checking on cleaning, disinfection and preventive standards through hotel inspection.

In general, hotels regularly disinfect those that are in frequent reach such as door handles, remote controllers and faucets when housekeeping. In addition to regular cleaning, LOTTE HOTEL disinfects all surfaces that come into contact with people, including tables and floors, using disinfectants for Covid19 recommended by the American EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), thus preventing cross-infection. The cleanliness of all contact surfaces is strictly controlled with regular ATP tests that measure microorganisms.

David HS Kim, CEO of LOTTE HOTEL said: “Since achieving the internationally accredited Food Safety Management System (ISO22000) certification for the first time for a Korean hotel brand in 2015, LOTTE HOTEL has been strictly managing safety and hygiene abiding by global standards. Based on our brilliant performances and know-how accumulated over the past 40 years, LOTTE HOTEL will continue to propose new prospects in hotel services in the post-pandemic era.”
