The ‘Accessible French Way of the Camino de Santiago’

October 11, 2021 Turismo de Navarra and the ONCE Foundation present the Accessible Camino de Santiago Francés in Navarra. Its objective is to improve the experience of those with disabilities who wish to do the route by making it more accessible.

The ‘Accessible French Way of the Camino de Santiago’ will feature geolocation technology which will allow pilgrims with disabilities, especially blind people, to guide themselves along the entire Camino and locate different hostels to stay. The initiative will also evaluate the accessibility of accommodation options along the route. The project has been launched now as Spain is celebrating Xacobeo 2021, the Compostela Holy Year when pilgrims are most inclined to make the pilgrimage, and has received recognition from the Xacobean Council as part of the official programme. The ground-breaking project will make the Camino de Santiago accessible and provide equal opportunity for those with disabilities that wish to tick off a true bucket-list item.

The Director of Tourism of the Government of Navarra explained that “the Camino de Santiago is a fundamental element of Navarra’s heritage, and also a priceless tourist resource that offers many different route options for people making the journey. However, the most important thing is not just completing the Camino de Santaigo walk, but also the experience along the way.  So it should be universally accesible so that everyone can partake in the experience given its suitable routes, accommodation and services. The walker has to be able to travel, take in their surroundings and discover the Camino de Santiago without limitations. It is also a fantastic trip to reactivate tourism in a safe, sustainable, inclusive and innovative manner.”

October 11, 2021 – IHG Hotels & Resorts is excited to be continuing its push into suburban and regional Victoria with the signing of Holiday Inn Dandenong with hotel owners, the Pelligra Group.

This will be IHG’s fifth hotel with the Pelligra Group, making them one of IHG’s largest owners in Australasia. It signifies the continued, successful partnership between the two groups, building on other open or signed hotels which include Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport, the newly opened Holiday Inn Werribee, and upcoming Holiday Inn Melbourne Richmond and Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton.

Formerly the Ramada Encore by Wyndham Dandenong, the hotel will undergo a state-of-the-art $10m refurbishment, before opening as a next-generation Holiday Inn in April 2022. The news continues IHG’s rapid growth across Victoria, following the opening of Holiday Inn Werribee and upcoming Holiday Inn openings in Geelong, Ringwood, Richmond, Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall and Ballarat.

Once open, all of the hotel’s 108 guestrooms will receive a major refurbishment and an additional 18 new rooms added, and the lobby will be completely transformed, incorporating Holiday Inn’s Open Lobby cutting edge concept, designed to bring people together in a convivial setting.

Holiday Inn will add significant value to the property post transformation, taking it from a limited-service hotel to a completely refreshed, full-service upper midscale positioning under the much loved and globally recognised Holiday Inn banner

Located around 30 kilometres from Melbourne, Holiday Inn Dandenong is set to be a central hub for visitors in a growing area, bustling with new infrastructure projects, big business headquarters, universities and potentially a new, $110m 15,00-seat sports stadium and events centre.

In 2006, a 15-year, $290m ‘Revitalising Central Dandenong’ (RCD) program was announced by the Victorian Government aimed at improving the general amenity of the Dandenong CBD and re-establishing Dandenong city centre as the capital of Melbourne’s growing south east region. Holiday Inn Dandenong will be located just a few metres from the centre of the RCD initiative and will be a vibrant and welcomed addition to the precinct.

IHG’s Director of Development for Australasia & Pacific, Jael Fischer, said “The Holiday Inn brand has undergone a huge, global transformation over the last 18 months, unveiling a level of next-generation design which is making leisure and business travellers take note, fast tracking the brands growth across the region.

“This will be our fifth hotel with the Pelligra Group and we are honoured to be working with the team again to bring this completely refurbished Holiday Inn to the Dandenong community and build on our network in Victoria.”

Ross Pelligra from Pelligra Group, said “There is no question we are passionate about the Holiday Inn brand and we are thrilled to once again be branding our newest acquisition under IHG’s fastest growing hotel banner. We love working with the IHG team and we are excited to be building on our partnership with them.

“The location of this hotel is what really drew us to the property; just across the road from the town’s main shopping centre and metres from Dandenong’s major revitalisation project. Having the internationally recognised Holiday Inn brand attached to our hotel will be of great benefit as domestic and international travel returns and we are proud to be continuing our partnership with IHG.”

Holiday Inn Dandenong will join the 42 open or pipeline Holiday Inn brand family hotels in Australasia & Pacific. Globally, it’s the world’s largest brand family with more than 4,100 open and over 1,000 in the pipeline, delivering the Joy of Travel in almost every corner of the world.

October 8, 2021 – The most affordable destinations to rent a traditional bicycle are the Swiss city of Zurich, and Cluj-Napoca în România, where visitors can explore the sights without spending a thing.

Tourists in The Hague (Netherlands), Madison (USA), and the Australian city of Brisbane can take advantage of the cheapest e-bike rental costs

Luxembourg city and Chiang Mai in Thailand leads the way when it comes to the highest proportion of cycle repair shops per 10,000; while Singapore, Switzerland, and Norway emerged as the safest countries, experiencing the fewest annual road traffic fatalities

After researching a cross-section of cycling-related elements across 40 global cities  – bicycle and e-bike rental costs, cycling laws, number of mapped bike paths per resident, pollution levels and average annual temperatures/rainfall levels – a ranking score was assigned to each location out of a possible 280.

The 10 cities emerging as the most friendly for bikes emerged as follows:

Alongside the average cost of hiring a bicycle and e-bike for 24 hours within each city, researchers also factored in other elements that would all contribute towards tourists enjoying a safe and enjoyable city cycling experience.

Cities with the most KM of mapped bike paths per resident are Timisoara (0.89km), Geneva (0.86km) and Tallinn (0.86km).

Of the locations analysed, Chiang Mai in Thailand and Haifa in Israel emerged as the two cities with the highest pollution levels, with both cities standing to benefit enormously from an increase of tourists and residents switching to bike travel where possible. At the other end of the scale, the Finnish capital of Helsinki – one of the most affordable cities to rent a bike in – was revealed as the city with the lowest pollution levels.

Taking the average temperatures for each city throughout the year, the top 10 cities to visit per season were also determined based on the locations that would provide the most comfortable temperature to ride in.

The Slovenian capital of Llublijana emerged as having the most comfortable average temperatures during the Autumn and Spring months, while Limassol in Cyprus creates the ideal Winter conditions for cycling tourists. Finally, bikers looking to avoid overheating are advised to head to Vilnius in Lithuania during the Summer months, where temperatures average a comfortable 17.7°C.

Salman Haqqi, personal finance expert at money.co.uk, offers some guidance for any travellers wanting to sight-see from the perspective of two wheels:

Whether you’re an experienced cyclist who feels more at comfortable on two wheels than by any other means of transportation, or you struggle to remember the last time you sat on a bike, it’s worth researching how to ensure your cycling plans are as affordable, safe and straightforward as possible ahead of your trip:

“Firstly, if a bike rental is a definite part of your itinerary, make sure you purchase the correct type of travel insurance. Some insurance companies may classify cycling as a dangerous activity, so it’s worth checking if your policy covers any injuries that may occur so you’re not left out of pocket.

“Next, bear in mind that cycling under the influence of alcohol in certain countries can result in a financial fine. The most commonly agreed limit amongst cities researched for the report is that cyclists cannot have a blood alcohol limit greater than 0.5 grams per litre.

“Despite the fact that some, less experienced, cyclists might feel more comfortable staying clear of the road and riding along pavements, many cities also consider this disruption to foot traffic a finable offence.

“Finally, make sure that once you’re on your bike, that you don’t check your mobile phone or any other handheld device unless in a stationary position. Many countries class texting while cycling to be as dangerous as doing so behind the wheel of a car. Officials in Singapore are known to hand out three month jail sentences for rule-breaking bike riders in some extreme cases.”

October 8, 2021 – The world’s most famous secret agent is back. Celebrating its 25th edition, and after being postponed for over a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ‘No Time to Die’, features some of the world’s most spectacular and remarkable destinations.

From the quaint English countryside to the vibrant streets of Istanbul, previous movies of this franchise have been careered through iconic locations all over the globe, making this agent one of the most frequent travellers in the secret agent industry.

With a mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world, Booking.com has delved into its more than 28 million listings across over 1,52,000 destinations to inspire fans of the movie to experience a slice of the secret agent life themselves with a stay in one of these famous filming locations. Here are some travel ideas:

Taj Lake Palace – Udaipur, India

A stay at the Taj Lake Palace, also known as the floating palace, is a once in a lifetime travel experience. Situated in the middle of Lake Pichola, this luxury hotel was one of the filming locations for the secret agent movie in the 80s. The property is built with marble and features majestic architecture.

Guests can only reach the hotel by boat, which makes the property even more unique. But no worries, the city centre is still within walking distance, so guests can easily make a day trip to Udaipur as the city is surrounded by the serene waters of Lake Pichola. After a short boat ride, travellers can explore the beautiful architecture, temples and Indian cuisine the city has to offer.

Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel-London, United Kingdom

In 2012, the secret agent famously took a swim in the rooftop pool of the Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel. With views over the River Thames and London city, the Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel boasts elegant rooms that will make any agency feel at home during their time in the city.

The hotel is a short walk from the Tube station and Canary Wharf Pier, which offers links to the Thames Clipper Boat, giving access to London’s most popular attractions. For the biggest fans of the film franchise, London even offers secret agent guided tours that will introduce fans to other filming locations in the city.

Fontainebleau Miami Beach – Miami, USA

Miami was the backdrop for multiple movies in this famous film franchise. For travellers who not only want to experience movie magic for themselves but also want to soak up the sun, a stay at Fontainebleau Miami Beach is a must. Parts of the third edition from the secret agent series were filmed in this enormous beachfront resort that offers scenic ocean views and six outdoor swimming pools.

The resort is an ideal stay for travellers who like to relax. For those who want to explore, the resort has a nightclub, nine restaurants and a spa. Guests can enjoy their Martini, shaken not stirred, in one of the resort’s lounge bars, while enjoying the stunning Miami beach views.

Grandhotel Pupp- Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

In 2006, the secret agent played Russian Roulette at an impressive casino which in real life is Grandhotel Pupp. Located in the historical centre of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, just a two-hour drive from Prague, this hotel has a tradition dating back to 1701.

The hotel offers spacious rooms and suites, a restaurant and an exclusive spa. Karlovy Vary is not only famous for its scene in a spy movie, the Czech city is also famous for its amazing thermal springs discovered in the 14th century. It is a must-go destination for travellers who enjoy relaxation and wellness during their travels to return back home completely zen.

Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico- Mexico City, Mexico

The opening scene of the twenty-fourth edition of the popular secret agent movie started with the ‘Day of the Dead’ parade in the streets of Mexico City where the unrecognisable agent casually strolls through the street in a skull mask.

It was Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico where the secret agent walked, changing into a suit and kicking off the action. The hotel features historic architecture and is a great place to stay for those who enjoy exploring the city and local culture during their trip as it’s located within walking distance to main attractions such as the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Presidential Palace, which can also be explored by joining a full-day tour of the city.

GoldenEye- Oracabessa, Jamaica

Right under the Jamaican sun is where this now-famous spy franchise all started. The original writer of the secret agent novel series wrote all 14 novels about the world-famous secret agent at the tropical property GoldenEye.

This property features private beaches, hidden coves and a saltwater lagoon, a perfect retreat for travellers (or spies in training) who prefer privacy while enjoying a relaxing beach vacation. And for fans of the blockbuster movies, it’s a must-visit destination since multiple movies from the franchise were also filmed in Jamaica.

London’s new five star hotel feels more like a Private Club – steps away from Buckingham Palace

hotel news

blank

blank

blank

blank

October 8, 2021 –The Guardsman brings understated decadence to Londontown.

Against all odds, London’s hospitality scene has emerged from the other side of several lockdowns and near-openings with a crop of buzzy new luxury hotels. From Covent Garden’s bold U.S. import NoMad to Marylebone’s Nobu, LXR’s new Biltmore Mayfair, and Leicester Square’s The Londoner. Quietly joining that line-up is The Guardsman, an intimate and sophisticated stay that feels more like a private member’s club than a central London hotel.

Like The Londoner, The Guardsman is one of several new openings from Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest independent hotel brand. It reopened this summer after a brief soft launch in October 2020 before another London lockdown. Tucked away on a quiet street near St. James’ Park, the five-star property is so discreet that guests often don’t realize it’s there.

That member’s club feel is exactly what designer Richard Tomlin at London’s Tonik Associates was going for. Inside, the team turned the purpose-built property into an elegant and distinctly British hideaway, dotted with Herringbone parquet floors, vintage furniture, and Tom Dixon lighting throughout.

But outside The Guardsman’s guests will find yet another draw for the hotel: It’s next to the capital’s top landmarks — Buckingham Palace is just a six-minute stroll away. Tate Britain and the Houses of Parliament are within walking distance, too.

There are nods to The Guardsman’s royal and political neighbors throughout the property, from jewel-toned fabrics to regal paintings. Design fans can settle down for a nightcap in the Drawing Room on a replica of Jackie Kennedy’s deep-buttoned sofa from the White House, while history buffs can find carefully curated books like “Women of Westminster: The MPs who Changed Politics” ($34, amazon.com) in the hotel’s cozy library.

Even the six bespoke residences found on the top three floors of the property are named after famous female politicians. Most notably is the Astor penthouse suite, named after British American politician Lady Nancy Astor, the first woman to sit in parliament. The sprawling residence takes up the entire top floor and boasts a wraparound terrace with views of Buckingham Gate. It comes with three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen (which can be stocked before arrival), a wine fridge, and a Japanese soaking bath to unwind in with toiletries from Noble Isle – a UK brand inspired by the natural riches of the British isles.

Pets also get the royal treatment. Staff are on hand with treats, dog beer, and an array of seasonal dishes for your pooch sourced from local markets and organic farms (think: poached cod with garden peas and crushed potatoes, or rib eye steak with doggie chips).

When it comes to food for humans, guests can wander down a gilded winding staircase to reach the hotel’s cozy dining room. Only those staying at The Guardsman (as well as their guests) can dine here. But there are no rules when it comes to dining times (which also means 24-hour room service) and the British-led menu changes often but always centers around farm-fresh, UK-sourced ingredients.

The bar isn’t to be sniffed at either, it serves up classic cocktails, new gems, and more than 250 whiskies. And to help guests rest easy, The Guardsman’s serious stance on sustainability means it’s using 100% renewable energy supplemented by the solar panels installed on the roof.

India’s Jet Airways could return to the skies by early next year

airline news

October 8, 2021 – India’s Jet Airways could return to the skies by early next year, according to an investor consortium that is pulling the carrier out of insolvency.

“Jet Airways 2.0” plans to begin domestic operations, starting with service between Delhi and Mumbai, in the first quarter of 2022, according to Murari Lal Jalan, lead member of the Jalan Kalrock Consortium, consisting of Dubai-based Jalan and London-based Kalrock Capital. Short-haul international operations would follow in the back half of 2022.

Jet Airways, then India’s second-largest carrier, suspended all operations in April 2019 due to lack of funding. The Jalan Kalrock Consortium had the winning bid to acquire the airline, and its resolution plan was approved this summer by the National Company Law Tribunal.

The consortium’s plans are to have 50 aircraft for Jet Airways within three years and more than 100 in the next five years, according to Jalan. It already has hired more than 150 employees and plans to add more than 1,000 more over the next fiscal year.

The new Jet Airways will be headquartered in Delhi rather than Mumbai, its previous headquarters location.

Czech Republic has received Safe Travels Stamp

News from around the world
More news

October 8, 2021 – The Czech Republic has received the international mark “Safe Travels Stamp” awarded by the World Tourism & Travel Council (WTTC) and boasts the status of a safe destination. The CzechTourism National Tourism Office applied for the mark for the Czech Republic, which, based on documents from the Czech Chamber of Commerce, professional associations and the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, developed a set of preventive safety and hygiene recommendations for individual tourism sectors.

It’s great that today’s World Tourism Day is celebrated by the Czech Republic with the Safe Travels Stamp. I believe that the status of a safe tourist destination, by which the Czech Republic and Czech companies meeting Safe Travels standards will present themselves abroad, will bring other foreign tourists to the Czech Republic, “says Klára Dostálová, Minister for Regional Development.

Entrepreneurs and associations in tourism can apply for the Safe Travels mark from 1 October 2021 via the registration form on the CzechTourism agency’s website. Here you will also find recommendations and the resulting principles, rules and conditions of using the Safe Travels mark for individual industries (eg retail stores, hotels, restaurants, saunas, swimming pools, golf courses, cinemas, cable cars and others), which undertakes to comply with by submitting the form. The granting and use of the Safe Travels mark is free of charge. Compliance with binding health and hygiene standards in operations and companies will be carried out by an external supplier in the form of mystery shopping.

Like the Open forever initiative, the Safe Travels Stamp is based on a system of self-regulation,” says Jan Herget, director of CzechTourism, adding: “Both our projects will help not only to remain open forever, but also to attract foreign tourists. If you look at the booking portals today, you will see that some hotels already have the Safe Travels mark embedded in their profiles. Therefore, I believe that obtaining the mark will be an important competitive advantage for Czech entrepreneurs. “

Safe Travels Stamp – The Safe Travels stamp is an award for destinations and companies around the world that have adopted the global standardized SafeTravels recommendation in the field of health and hygiene. This mark will help travelers identify countries and companies around the world that have implemented these globally standardized ‘safe travel’ standards.

The World Tourism Council is a global authority on the economic and social benefits of tourism. The WTTC supports the sustainable growth of the tourism industry, working with governments and international institutions to create jobs, promote exports and prosperity. The members of the Council are the presidents, presidents and CEOs of the world’s leading private tourism companies.

October 8, 2021, Customers of both airlines will benefit from convenient access to more than 65 global codeshare destinations

RwandAir’s new Kigali – Doha nonstop flights from December will provide a seamless travel experience connecting Africa to the world

Doha, Qatar – Qatar Airways and RwandAir have signed a comprehensive codeshare agreement to offer travellers more choice, enhanced service and greater connectivity to more than 65 destinations across Africa and the rest of the world. As part of the deal, the Rwandan flag carrier will also launch new non-stop flights between their Kigali hub and Doha from December.

The agreement benefits travellers from across the globe who fly with both airlines, which expands each carrier’s route network. Passengers can enjoy the simplicity of purchasing connecting flights on both airlines using one seamless reservation system, that simplifies ticketing, check-in, boarding and baggage-check processes for the entire journey.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said “We share a very close and collaborative bond with Rwanda and welcome RwandAir’s new non-stop service between Kigali and our home in Doha. With this comprehensive codeshare agreement, we are committed to deliver greater choice and connectivity to our customers in Africa and around the world. The new partnership will help position Qatar Airways in the region and complement our African expansion strategy. As we brace ourselves to meet significantly increased demand for long-awaited travel, I see dynamic partnerships like this one helping to steer travel, tourism and trade firmly on the path to recovery.”

RwandAir Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Yvonne Makolo, said: “This is a major milestone for RwandAir and marks the beginning of an exciting new journey with Qatar Airways. We are also immensely proud to welcome Doha to our route network, connecting customers with Qatar’s hub and further expanding their flight map.

“This codeshare agreement will give our customers significantly more choice and flexibility, allowing RwandAir to strengthen its global presence and build on its strong and loyal African customer base.

As we continue to grow out of the pandemic, this partnership represents yet another extremely important step on our recovery runway, and we hope to deliver more commitments like this to our customers in the very near future.”

The new codeshare partnership will enable customers to book attractive offers across different continents like the U.S., Europe and Asia, and enable customers to fly to different cities like New York, Washington D.C., Dallas and Los Angeles, London, Zurich and Madrid, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. The agreement will further increase Qatar Airways’ footprint in Africa, with access to destinations such as Bujumbura, Kinshasa and Lubumbashi.

Additionally, the airlines recently announced loyalty partnerships giving RwandAir Dream Miles and Qatar Airways Privilege Club loyalty members access to each other’s destinations with the opportunity to accrue and redeem miles across their reciprocal route networks. Customers will also have access to the airlines’ airport lounges at their hubs in Doha and Kigali.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar continues to rebuild its network, which currently stands at over 140 destinations. With more frequencies being added to key hubs, Qatar Airways offers unrivalled connectivity to passengers, making it easy for them to change their travel dates or destination as required.

A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was announced as the ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2021 World Airline Awards, managed by the international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax. It was also named ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Seat’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering’ and ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’. The airline continues to stand alone at the top of the industry having now won the main prize for an unprecedented sixth time (2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and now 2021). The airline’s hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), was recently recognised as the ‘Best Airport in the World 2021’, by the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2021.

In addition to this, Qatar Airways has become the first global airline to achieve the prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by Skytrax. This follows the success of HIA as the first airport in the Middle East and Asia to be awarded a Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating. “MHA had been receiving representations from several State Governments as well as various stakeholders in the tourism sector to start Tourist Visas also, to allow foreign tourists to come to India. British airways launches its biggest schedule since March 2020

airline news

October 7, 2021 – British Airways is set to welcome back its first A380 aircraft in November and operate its biggest schedule since March 2020, with additional services to cities across the globe, including the US.

British Airways’ A380 will initially operate to a number of short-haul destinations to allow for crew service familiarisation in November, shortly followed by operating to Miami and Los Angeles in the US, as well as Dubai in December.

News that the airline’s A380 aircraft is re-joining its fleet follows the announcement that vaccinated Brits will be able to travel to the United States from November. The airline is set to fly to 23 US airports this winter* with up to 246 flights a week, more than any other transatlantic carrier.

Across its US network, British Airways will be increasing the number of flights it operates with services to city destinations including New York, which will initially be increasing to five a day, followed by eight in December. The airline will also be operating double-daily services to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, Dallas, Miami and Toronto, as well as daily services to Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, Atlanta, Denver, Houston and Vancouver

In addition to frequency increases, in October and November British Airways will restart services to Austin, Orlando, Tampa, San Diego, Las Vegas and Baltimore **. In December the airline will also start flying to Nashville and New Orleans once again, which both proved to be a hit with customers when they first launched.

Closer to home, British Airways has increased flights to a number of short-haul destinations by adding 13,000 more seats to holiday hot spots for families to get away this October. Popular leisure destinations Marrakech and Dalaman will appear on flight schedules again in time for October half-term, and brand-new services to the Turkish resort of Antalya will also be launching. Looking ahead to the winter, British Airways will be restarting a number of ski destinations including Innsbruck, Grenoble and Salzburg from December.

To help customers get away for some much-needed summer sun this Christmas, British Airways is extending its Caribbean programme with 12 services a week to Barbados and nine each to Antigua and St Lucia, which will be split across Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Flights to popular luxury Indian Ocean destinations, Maldives and Mauritius, will also be increasing to 10 and six per week over the Christmas period.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Network and Alliances, said: “This is an exciting time for British Airways and our customers as we see borders re-opening. With welcome news from the US, we are dramatically increasing flights and bringing home some of our A380s to give our customers as many options as possible. Elsewhere across our network we are also adding additional services to destinations all over the world, to ensure our customers can take advantage of a much-needed holiday.”

Elsewhere across its short-haul network British Airways will be increasing flights year-round to key European cities with 48 weekly services to Amsterdam, 33 to Geneva, 35 to Dublin, 28 to Milan and 21 to Berlin, Paris and Rome.

British Airways’ subsidiary BA City Flyer, is expected to operate a schedule of 43 flights a week to Edinburgh, 33 to Dublin, 25 to Glasgow, 18 to Belfast, 16 to Amsterdam, 15 to Rotterdam, 15 to Berlin, 12 to Frankfurt, 12 to Dusseldorf and 11 to Zurich. The airline is also set to launch a new route from Belfast to Birmingham, as well as new ski destination Salzburg, from London City and Southampton.

To coincide with the increase in services as the world re-opens, the airline’s lounges are also welcoming customers back. In September customers were invited to enjoy British Airways’ Concorde Room in London and New York. Lounges in Chicago, Washington, San Francisco and Houston are expected to open this week.

Customers using exclusive lounges can benefit from exciting new developments, such as the introduction of ‘Your Menu’ – a new initiative developed in the last few months to allow customers to order food and drink directly to their seat by simply scanning a QR code on their mobile device.
