Circa Resort & Casino’s 35,000-square-foot meeting and convention space is now open and available for booking. The state-of-the art facility marks the second phase of development for the downtown Las Vegas’ resort, providing meeting planners contemporary, tech-forward options to book events, galas, meetings and more, off the Strip.

Las Vegas Circa Resort

Circa’s meeting spaces offer groups top-tier, turnkey audio and visual capabilities and customizable rooms for up to 1,000 guests. Featuring a ballroom, breakout and banquet rooms, adjacent pre-function space and a 1,600-square-foot outdoor terrace, the spaces are outfitted to complement Circa’s mid-century, art deco and modern design motifs.

“As the meetings and events industries continue to ramp up after the pandemic, we are thrilled to introduce our incredible facilities to downtown Las Vegas,” said Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa. “It has always been our intention to add this to Circa’s repertoire, and we look forward to kicking off our first series of events in September.”

Equipped with best-in-class technology, Circa makes it easy for on-the-spot event functionality. Unique environmental measures have been implemented including LED lighting and adaptive, intelligent controlled HVAC systems that adjust temperatures to changing ecosystems. Additional technological offerings include 16K LU laser projectors, retractable screens, audio tie lines, patchable ethernet lines, strands of patchable single mode fiber in pairs on LC connectors, quad outlets and LED screens. The facility also features a large freight elevator to transport large vehicles and displays directly to the third floor for ease of access. A full kitchen is dedicated to Circa’s convention area, serving up delectable food and beverage experiences to elevate any event into an unforgettable occasion.

Sasha Lee, Circa’s Director of Sales, said “When creating these spaces, we kept meeting planners in mind with details such as flexible room sizes, in-house IT to maintain lower costs and a large elevator for easy load out. We are so pleased with how the area turned out and proud to introduce Las Vegas’ newest convention area.”

Circa’s meetings and conventions facility was designed by JCJ Architecture with the original design concept from Steelman Partners. For an overview of Circa’s meeting and event spaces, click here.

Room Offerings

Circa’s event offerings were planned with adaptability and customization in mind, accommodating multiple configurations and combination seating to support meeting planners’ needs. Continuing the property’s tradition of honoring Las Vegas’ history, each of the five main meeting spaces are named after iconic Las Vegas motels from past eras:

Galaxy: The largest of Circa’s meeting rooms, Galaxy shares its name with the short-lived Galaxy Motel. Four adjoining meeting rooms boast 14,456 square feet and a 1,677-square-foot outdoor terrace overlooking the city. It was designed to be able to host a multitude of events with a large LED screen, built in audio-visual capabilities, full rigging and a partition wall that opens the ballroom to the pre-function spaces.

Starlite: Opened in the 1950s and still operating today, Starlite became popular due to its star-themed rooms during the height of the Space Age. Starlite spans 3,572 square feet across three rooms and includes built in audio-visual, full rigging and access to pre-function spaces.

Carousel: Circa sits on the site formerly home to the Carousel, a casino where guests could dine on an assortment of delicacies for 96 cents. Carousel offers 1,651 square feet across three rooms and boasts built in audio-visual and access to pre-function spaces.
Ambassador: Beginning as apartments in the 1930s and remaining open as a motel through 2007, the Ambassador vintage sign can still be seen at downtown Las Vegas’ Life is Beautiful festival. Circa’s two Ambassador meeting areas can be booked together for a total of 1,055 square feet with built in audio-visual and access to pre-function spaces.
La Concha: Described as “The Jetsons meets coffee shop,” La Concha Motel was built on a shoestring budget and remained open for 45 years. Circa’s La Concha room features 920 square feet and has built in audio-visual capabilities and access to pre-function spaces.

Bonanza Office: The Bonanza Office is named after the iconic Bonanza Casino, which is now Bally’s on the Strip. The hard-walled office features 192 square feet of private space.

Additional Resort Amenities

Circa Resort & Casino also is home to a multitude of meeting options across the property, including stunning suites, the resort’s 60th floor cocktail lounge, restaurants and entertainment areas:

Circa Suites: Standing at 458 ft. tall and 35 stories high, Circa’s hotel tower is the tallest building north of the Las Vegas Strip, affording breathtaking views of the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding mountains. With design elements that pay homage to vintage Vegas, Circa’s rooms range from 439 to 1,830 square feet.

Founder’s Suite: The largest of the rooms and a unique meeting option within Circa’s collection, the Founder’s Suite boasts 1,830 square feet with two bedrooms, living room, dining area, bar and a spectacular Strip view.

Hospitality Suite: Whether closing a deal or prepping for meetings, the Hospitality Suites are an ideal locale with 1,612 square feet of luxury including a large dining table, marble bar, and living room with a variety of seating options.

Stadium Swim: The country’s largest pool destination for sports fans, Stadium Swim, is open year-round and features a 143-foot diagonal screen that plays the day’s biggest games. The pool amphitheater can be rented for semi-private events or full buyouts for groups of up to 4,000.

Legacy Club: Sitting sky-high on the 60th floor of Circa’s hotel tower, the indoor/outdoor, 9,330-square-foot Legacy Club delivers extraordinary 360-degree views of Las Vegas and is complemented by an upscale lounge, expansive outdoor terrace with fire pits and iconic artwork. The venue can hold 200 seated or 400 standing guests and can host private and semi-private events.

World’s Largest Sportsbook: Circa is home to the world’s largest sportsbook, boasting a 78-million-pixel screen capable of playing up to 19 games at once. The book has a 1,000-person viewing capacity, 350 stadium-seating capacity and is ideal for sports groups.

Vegas Vickie Cocktail Lounge: Circa’s elevated lobby cocktail lounge Vegas Vickie surrounds the iconic neon kicking cowgirl sign herself. The 130-person-capacity lounge is perfect for cocktail-only receptions.
Restaurants: Circa houses five unique new-to-Vegas dining experiences from renowned chefs and restaurateurs that can be rented for meetings or enjoyed pre- or post-event:

Barry’s Downtown Prime, the first downtown venture from Chef Barry S. Dakake, is 17,000 square feet and can host up to 350 guests. The restaurant can tailor experiences with custom menus, floral and audio-visual offerings, and a floor plan that can be secluded or cater to a large gathering.

8 East, the first pan-Asian restaurant from Chef Dan Coughlin, is home to a private dining area for up to 16 guests and features a cutting-edge take on Pan-Asian cuisine.

Victory Burger & Wings Co. from American Coney Island’s Chris Sotiropoulos and Grace Keros, offers a secluded overlook for up to 15 people with views of the world’s largest sportsbook. Their menu boasts mouthwatering burgers, wings and appetizers.
Saginaw’s Delicatessen from Detroit restaurateur Paul Saginaw serves up deli favorites, all-day breakfast and world-famous sandwiches so big guests need two hands to eat them.

Project BBQ by Chef Rex Bernales is the first permanent food truck and Carolina barbecue joint on the Fremont Street Experience. The high-energy space features a front yard in the heart of downtown’s entertainment scene that can accommodate 50 people.

Korean Air to launch Budapest route and resume flights to Dubai, Phuket and Chiang Mai

Korean Air

Korean Air to launch Budapest route and resume flights to Dubai, Phuket and Chiang Mai

August 31, 2022 –

Korean Air will launch its inaugural flight to Budapest, Hungary from October 3. The airline will operate a 269-seat Boeing 787-900 once a week on Mondays departing from Seoul Incheon at 11:25 am and landing in Budapest at 5:05 pm. The return flight leaves the next day at 7:15 pm and arrives in Seoul Incheon one day later at 12:50 pm. There will also be an extra flight on Saturday October 29.

Korean Air

From October 31, Korean Air will offer flights twice a week that depart from Seoul Incheon at 12:25 pm on Mondays and Saturdays and arrive in Budapest at 5:15 pm. The returning flights will take off on the same day at 7:35 pm and land in Seoul Incheon at 2:15 pm the next day.

Following the launch of cargo services to Budapest in February 2020, Korean Air plans to bolster the competitiveness of its European network, especially in Eastern Europe.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a UNESCO World Heritage site with a rich history and beautiful landscapes. The city is famous for its night view and major tourist attractions such as Fisherman’s Bastion, Buda Castle and the Hungarian Parliament Building. Not only is there high travel demand for tourists, but also for businesses. The Hungarian government’s investment policy in the car manufacturing industry has attracted many Korean companies to Hungary, bringing much business related travel demand.

Resuming routes to Dubai
From October 1, Korean Air will resume its routes to the United Arab Emirates and Thailand, which have been suspended since March 2020.

Korean Air will restore its Middle East network by resuming services to Dubai three times a week. The Incheon-Dubai route will be served by the airline’s A330-300 fleet, and will depart from Seoul Incheon every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 1:20 pm and arrive in Dubai at 6:55 pm. The return flight will depart on the same day at 11:00 pm and arrive in Seoul Incheon at 12:40 pm the following day.

Dubai, known for its sightseeing attractions and luxury shopping, is a fascinating destination for those planning a vacation in the winter season. As the only Middle Eastern city served by Korean carriers, Dubai is also expected to be a major gateway to the Middle East for Korean travelers.
Resuming routes to Phuket and Chiang Mai
The airline will also resume services to Phuket, a popular honeymoon destination in Thailand. The flights will depart from Seoul Incheon on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 5:55 pm and land in Phuket at 10:00 pm. Return flights leave Phuket on the same day at 11:20 pm and arrive in Seoul Incheon at 7:55 am the next day.

Phuket is popular with sun seekers looking to enjoy the destination’s sandy beaches and a wide range of water activities in its blue waters that are famous for stunningly colorful corals and marine life.

Korean Air is also reinstating flights to Chiang Mai with a Boeing 737-800. The airline will offer four flights a week – every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday – departing from Seoul Incheon at 5:55 pm and arriving in Chiang Mai at 9:30 pm. The return flights leave Chiang Mai at 11:00 pm and arrive in Seoul Incheon at 6:25 am the following day.

Chiang Mai is a city located in a mountainous area 500 meters above sea level, and it maintains a pleasant temperature of more than five degrees lower than other cities in Thailand. You can enjoy an exceptional trip such as relaxing in a quiet, rural setting away from the city for a month. The city is also well known for golf tourists who flock here to avoid the cold winter weather.

Korean Air will continue to closely monitor the market and return of demand, and reinstate our remaining suspended routes accordingly.

Behavioural differences among Gen Z and Millennials shoppers

Behavioural differences among Gen Z and Millennials shoppers

Behavioural differences among Gen Z and Millennials shoppers

The research by leading industry travel research agency m1nd-set, is the focus of a two-month study across Millennials and Gen Z shoppers this month and Middle Aged and Senior consumers in September. Among the major differences, m1nd-set reports, is their respective tendency to engage with important shopping influencers, such as communications touch points and sales staff. Gen Zs tend to approach the sales associates in Duty Free shops considerably less than Millennials. Only 38% of the younger age segment say they engage with sales associates, 30% lower than Millennials, 68% of whom interact with store staff. The research, which also compares the shopper behaviour with the average across all age groups reveals that the tendency to engage with sales associates is above average among Millennials as 65% of travellers from all age groups interact with sales staff, according to the m1nd-set research.

The impact of the interaction is also lower among Gen Z shoppers.

More than eight out of ten shoppers among Millennials and all age groups combined report a positive outcome following the interaction, while only 67% of Gen Z shoppers said they purchased a product thanks to the interaction.

Another significant difference in shopper behaviour can be seen in how Gen Zs and Millennials react to communications touch points. More than half of Millennials (55%) notice touch points prior to their purchase in GTR when travelling, above the total for all passengers, which is just below half, at 47%. This contrasts significantly with the behaviour among Gen Zs as only 15% of this younger generation say they noticed touch points prior to purchase. This indicates the generational behaviour differences in general regarding how and where the various age groups source and digest their information.

Peter Mohn, Owner & Chief Executive Officer at m1nd-set, explained: “It is extremely important for travel retail marketers marketing to Millennials and Gen Z travelling consumers to understand where to reach their target audiences when they are not travelling. For both these age segments, it’s clearly online where they can be found but among Gen Zs it’s most commonly on the mobile and via certain social media services.”

”Platforms such as TikTok, Mohn continued “have to be integral to the marketing mix for marketers who are intent on reaching Gen Z shoppers while Millennials are more prone to be across multiple platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.”

Average spend is another area where m1nd-set reports considerable differences between Millennials and Gen Z consumers in Travel Retail. Spend among both age segments is significantly lower than the average among all age groups which is US$101.

For Millennials, average spend is $70, with the highest spend allocated to the Electronics category at $124, followed by Jewellery & Watches at $118 and Fashion & Accessories at $98. Average spend in Travel Retail among Gen Z shoppers is considerably lower at $44, with the highest spend being allocated to Perfumes with $111, Electronics, $103 and Alcohol, $61.

One of the major differences is the overall spend among both age groups. Whether in domestic or Travel Retail, Millennials represent a higher proportion of the overall consumer spend. Both generations combined currently represent just over 30% of total retail spend, but this share is set to increase to 48% by the end of the decade. In Travel Retail, the spend is currently 6% among Gen Z consumers and 25% among Millennials. According to m1nd-set the Millennials’ share of spend in Travel Retail will increase by only a few percentage points by the end of the decade while the growth in spend by 2030 among Gen Zs consumers is expected to be more than
threefold.

Mohn added: “Although a sizeable proportion of the Gen Z consumer generation is still below 18 and whose purchasing power barely surpasses their parents’ allowance, the potential among this generation – both as future customers and disruptors – is not to be underestimated.

“Both Millennials and Gen Zs have a strong tendency to favour sustainable practices when shopping in Travel Retail” Mohn continued. “While they are keen on championing brands with a strong social and environmental impact and story, they are equally intent on shouting out on social media about less virtuous brands and will be quick to name shame companies and brands which do not demonstrate ethical and environmentally friendly practices. This is particularly true among Gen Zs” Mohn concluded.

Meeting With King Tut! Egypt is celebrating the centennial of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb!

A grand Conference is taking place in Luxor from the 4th to the 6th of November this year, featuring keynote speaker, the renowned Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawas.

Meeting with King Tut

The opening session will be presented by Lord and Lady Carnarvon who are the descendants of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, the sponsor of Howard Carter’s excavation for the discovery of Tutankhamun tomb 100 years ago.

Meeting with King Tut: The celebration will spot the light on the iconic discovery by contextualizing it and presenting the latest research on the Youngest King Tutankhamun, his tomb and its contents. Be part of the great event, and let us help you with the travel arrangements.

Conference details:  British Archaeologist and Egyptologist Dr. Howard Carter led the excavation mission who discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb in November 1922.

Meeting with King Tut: As a result of the quantity and spectacular appearance of the burial goods, the tomb attracted a media frenzy and became the most famous find in the history of Egyptology.

Tutankhamun became one of the best-known pharaohs, and some artefacts from his tomb, like the golden funerary mask, are among the best-known artworks from ancient Egypt.

The tomb of Tutankhamun, tomb number KV62 in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, is the burial place of the youngest Pharaoh King Tutankhamun who reigned c. 1334–1325 BC.

Besides the king’s Mummy, the tomb contains his coffin, furniture, clothing, jewellery and over 5,000 items. which gives an insight into the material culture of wealthy ancient Egyptians Pharaohs, despite the relatively small tomb due to the premature death of Tutankhamun.

The Grand Egyptian Museum will have a dedicated area to exhibit all the belongings of King Tutankhamun all in one place for the first time in history.

Radisson RED Gdansk opens with 30 rooms

Radisson RED Gdansk.

Radisson RED Gdansk

August 24, 2022 –  Radisson RED Gdansk
The first Radisson RED property in Poland is now welcoming guests. Radisson RED Gdansk is part of the redevelopment of Granary Island in the center of the Pomeranian capital on the Baltic Sea. With this new opening, Radisson Hotel Group’s portfolio in Poland has grown to 22 properties in operation and under development.

Gdańsk, the capital of Pomerania, has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, thanks to its strategic location on the Baltic Sea and its rich history as a member of the city of the Hanseatic League. The historic center of Gdansk, rebuilt after its destruction in 1945, is home to many famous landmarks, including St. Mary’s Basilica, the Golden Gate, Artus Court, and the Main City Hall, and can easily be discovered on foot from the hotel. Among the museums of Gdańsk are the European Solidarity Centre, devoted to the Solidarność civil rights movement, and the Museum of the Second World War with its rich collection of military equipment, documents, and memorabilia.

Radisson RED Gdansk is housed in a reconstructed port warehouse right by the Motława River. During its reconstruction, the original walls were retained, giving the building a truly unique loft-style look. The property enjoys a prime location at the northern end of Granary Island and is connected to the Main City by a newly installed footbridge.

Radisson RED Gdansk

The hotel consists of 30 rooms and suites, some of which have a mezzanine level featuring an extra bed, as well as four one- and two-bedroom suites of up to 50m2. The rooms offer magnificent views of the Motława and the Main City with the famous Gdańsk Crane.

The interiors are designed in an eclectic, playful style with surprising decorative elements that play on the building’s history and location. The property is home to the Whiskey in the Jar steakhouse as well as a grab-and-go station located in the lobby. Guests of Radisson RED enjoy access to the public areas and amenities of Radisson Hotel & Suites Gdańsk, including its restaurant and bar, as well as its fitness and wellness area, located a mere 200m from Radisson RED Gdansk.

Qantas Sydney to Tonga – weekly flights to this tropical destination

Qantas Sydney to Tonga

Qantas Sydney to Tonga

August 23, 2022 – Qantas Sydney to Tonga – weekly flights to this tropical destination

Qantas is expanding its South Pacific presence with the addition of Tonga to its network, offering a new tropical destination for Australian travellers to explore.

Qantas Sydney to Tonga

Following the recent reopening of Tonga’s borders, Qantas will fly weekly between Sydney and Nuku’alofa’s Fua’amotu Airport. The four and a half hour flights will be the only direct services between Australia and Tonga.

Qantas has been operating services since December 2020, supported by the Australian Government’s Pacific Flights Program. These flights have maintained critical passenger and freight links while international borders were closed. From today, passengers can book a flight directly on qantas.com with services operating every Thursday to Tonga.

Qantas Sydney to Tonga: The inclusion of Tonga to the international network follows the recent commitment of weekly services to Samoa as Qantas grows its presence in the South Pacific Islands off the back of strong holiday travel demand.

Qantas will initially operate one flight a week with a A330 aircraft between Tonga and Sydney alongside the Samoa service.

Qantas Sydney to Tonga are on sale at Qantas.com starting from $866 return.  Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn and redeem Qantas Points on Tonga flights as well as earn status credits.

Quotes from a Qantas spokesperson

“Since the opening of Australia’s border, we have seen strong demand across our Qantas operated South Pacific services. In fact, Fiji is 50 per cent higher than pre-COVID demand, Noumea is 13 per cent higher and flights to Samoa are performing ahead of expectations.

“These flights will help Australian-based South Pacific Islanders visit family and friends back home, as well as providing travel hungry Australians a choice of Pacific neighbours to explore.

“We anticipate the Tonga services will be well-supported by both Tongan nationals and Australians and are excited to help strengthen family and community connections as well as boost tourism opportunities to this beautiful Pacific Island kingdom.”

International flights are subject to government and regulatory approval.
