Delta Air Lines flies home the Olympic flag after Paris 2024

As the Paris 2024 Olympics came to a close, Delta Air Lines, which serves as an official airline for Team USA, played a significant role in the transfer of Olympic flag during the handover ceremony. The flag was taken from Paris to Los Angeles on flight DL291 through a specially decorated LA28 aircraft; an Airbus A350 with registration N522DZ. This flight heralds the beginning of Los Angeles’ tenure as host city for the 2028 Olympics and will see the Games return to America since 2002.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Welcomes the Olympic Flag

It is through Mayor Karen Bass that Los Angeles had the privilege of disembarking with an Olympic flag thus signifying its official receipt as well as launching it into preparations for LA28 games. It was a moment reflecting what these upcoming events mean relative to those that have happened before them and are therefore likely to define greater part of LA’s history.

Delta’s LA28-Themed Airbus A350

This amazing design on Delta’s Airbus A350 called for just going LA28-thematic so that it can capture what Los Angeles means like in its spirit. Sunset colours coupled with palm trees characterize this plane’s livery which has been borrowed from previous LA Olympic Games. Through this special design, Delta demonstrates its deep involvement in this city and outlines its significance in LA28 Olympics. Delta Air Lines flies home the Olympic flag after Paris 2024.

A Shared Vision for Sustainability and Connectivity

The partnership between Delta and LA28 is more than just Games; it is about global connection as well as sustainability concerns shared by both partners. Through sustainable aviation fuel initiatives, the airline actively supports progress towards LA28 underscoring its goals of reducing environmental impacts while bringing people together globally.

Asia Best Golf Destination – which country wins the award in 2022?

Asia Best Golf Destination - which country wins the award in 2022?

Asia Best Golf Destination

November 29, 2002, TAsia Best Golf Destination – which country wins the award in 2022?At the 9th Annual World Golf Awards – WGA took place on 15th November, in Abu Dhabi (the United Arab Emirates), Vietnam nabbed the coveted “Asia’s Best Golf Destination 2022” title again. The country’s claimed this accolade 5 times before in 2017 – 2021.

At the World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony 2022, Vietnam beat out heavy hitters in the region including Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, to become the “Asia’s Best Golf Destination 2022”.

Asia Best Golf Destination

This award for Asia Best Golf Destination marks the 6th time in a row Vietnam receives this title. In the World category, Vietnam was honoured as “World’s Best Golf Destination” for 2 times in 2019 and 2021. It is a rigid affirmation of the excellent potential and reputation of Vietnam Golf tourism in the region and the world.

Mr. Graham Cooke – Chairman of the World Golf Awards 2022 shared that he has been to Vietnam many times and found that the country has a long coastline, a great climate to be able to play golf all year round. Vietnam also has many beautiful golf courses, which have been built up to international standards. That’s why Vietnam was voted as Asia’s favourite golf destination. Mr. Cooke then sent his congratulations to Vietnam and the Vietnam Tourism Golf Association.

Noticeably, at the WGA this year, the Vietnam Tourism Golf Association (VTGA) received “World’s Best Golf Association 2022” and the ELS Performance Golf Academy was crowned for “World’s Best Par 3 Golf Course 2022”.

This is a worthy achievement for Vietnam’s efforts when opening up to the world, strongly promoting the tourism industry, especially golf tourism in the post-Covid-19 period. The award resembles the success of promoting the image of Vietnam Golf, in which, Golf course investors, airlines, travel and tourism industry play a very important role in Vietnam.

Sports sector contributed $2.45bn to Dubai economy in 2021

Sports sector contributed $2.45bn to Dubai economy in 2021

September 20, 2022

The sports sector’s contribution to Dubai’s economy exceeded AED9 billion ($2.45 billion) in 2021, accounting for 2.3 percent of the emirate’s GDP for the year, said a senior official.

Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), said the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, supported by a robust regulatory framework and an active lifestyle, has enabled the emirate to consolidate its position as the world’s preferred hub for sports in addition to being a destination for business, tourism, and education.

Chairing the third meeting of the DSC’s Board of Directors, he said the sector supports the creation of 105,000 job opportunities, accounting for 3.8 percent of the total employment in Dubai, said a Wam news agency report.

He credited Dubai’s pioneering regulatory framework and robust infrastructure for shaping the emirate’s sports sector. He noted that the government’s support for the industry is an integral priority within Dubai’s drive to become the world’s best city to live and work in.

“We are proud of the significant growth in the contribution of the sports sector to Dubai’s annual GDP. In addition to nurturing and fostering Emirati and expat athletes living in the UAE and ensuring the community’s health and happiness, the sports industry is now a significant economic contributor.

“At the DSC, we were keen to measure this growth in the contribution of sports to Dubai’s economy. In line with international best practices, we conducted a study in association with a major global consultancy. The study analysed and calculated the economic contribution of sports across different areas of the industry, including sports tourism, investment in sports training academies, sports events, and others,” Sheikh Mansoor said.

“The sports sector benefits from Dubai’s position as the world’s preferred destination for living, working, studying, and investing. The DSC supports the industry and the increase in its contribution to GDP by strengthening relations with international sports institutions and bodies. The council offers state-of-the-art facilities that support the work of local and international event organisers, which contributes to the growth of the sector.

“DSC encourages international sports stars and investors to take advantage of Dubai’s world-class facilities to open sports academies and host major world championships and training camps for various clubs, national teams and champion athletes, as well as to benefit from investment opportunities in its various fields. All these factors contributed to increasing the sector’s economic contribution and the number of employees in various related companies,” he added.

Dubai’s new sports strategy focuses on sports clubs in Dubai, infrastructure for sports facilities, e-sports, sports tourism, and sports technology, among others. It also identifies the main challenges, future development plans and strategy. The meeting also reviewed plans to develop football stadiums in Dubai and directed the concerned authorities to work on implementing them according to the approved schedule.

Hong Kong Sevens 2022 in less than 3 months – get ready for excellent Rugby

Hong Kong Sevens

Hong Kong Sevens 2022: everything we know with 3 months to go

September 9, 2022 – Hong Kong Sevens

  • Covid-19 restrictions will still be in place at Hong Kong Stadium, where a limit will be placed on capacity
  • There are still plenty of questions to answer ahead of the return of city’s flagship sporting event

The Hong Kong Sevens is finally coming back in November, after officials at the “highest levels” gave it the go-ahead this week.

Fans are set to descend on So Kon Po in their droves for the first time since April 2019, with the pandemic having frustrated the Hong Kong Rugby Union’s efforts to stage the city’s flagship sporting event.

But even though the Sevens is back, Covid-19 restrictions will still be in place at Hong Kong Stadium over all three days of action – and there are plenty of questions still to answer three months out.

Here’s a rundown of everything we know so far about the return of the Hong Kong Sevens.

Hong Kong Sevens 2022 – When does it take place?

The November 22 edition of the Hong Kong Sevens has been added as an additional 11th tournament at the start of the 2023 World Rugby Sevens Series.

Hong Kong will then get a second spot on the 2023 calendar in its traditional April slot next year.

How many fans will be there?

The 40,000-seat Hong Kong Stadium in So Kon Po will operate at an 85 per cent capacity over all three days.

That means 34,000 fans will be allowed in on each day – and they will have to be separated in the stands in groups of eight people.

Which teams will be coming?

There will only be men’s sides competing at this year’s Hong Kong Sevens, with no women’s competition or mini rugby.

All core Sevens Series teams, including South Africa, Australia, Argentina, Fiji, Ireland, USA, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Samoa, Spain, Kenya, Canada, and Japan will be playing, plus Hong Kong – who will join the main competition, with no Challenger Series event scheduled.

Qatar to open three new five star hotels ahead of FIFA World Cup

Qatar to open three new five star hotels ahead of FIFA World Cup

September 06, 2022 –

Qatar is gearing up to open three new five-star hotels ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 as the country prepares to host more than a million international football fans for the world’s greatest football tournament.

Qatar five star hotels FIFA World Cup

With less than 100 days to go before fans descend on the region for the month-long event, which will kick off November 20, new hotels are opening their doors in the Gulf state – the host nation for the first-ever FIFA World Cup in the Middle East – in September and October.
They include the Wyndham Grand Doha West Bay Beach – a 278 -room resort near Doha Corniche – and the St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island on the Pearl-Qatar – a resort spanning a whole island, which will open on October 1.

A third – the Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha – is also slated to open in October near Hamad International Airport.

About 1.2 million fans, roughly half the population of Qatar, are expected to descend upon the country state during the event but providing sufficient rooms for visiting fans, teams and tournament staff has been a key challenge for Qatar and organizers have tried everything from cruise ships and desert camps to help ease the accommodation squeeze.

Berthold Trenkel, chief operating officer of Qatar Tourism, said the new hotels are in line with the country’s plans to expand its hospitality industry to fulfil the country’s ambitious goal of attracting more than six million international visitors a year by 2030.

“We are pleased to witness the continuous addition of world-class hotels to Qatar’s thriving hospitality landscape,” he said. “The exemplary service provided by our hotels plays a key role in the overall visitor experience, which in turn helps boost the tourism sector and diversify Qatar’s economy.”

“With new hospitality, cultural and retail offerings, Qatar continues to attract growing numbers of visitors each month, as demonstrated by our current summer season which sees peak figures compared to the past five years.”

The FIFA World Cup is expected to attract fans from 31 other nations to the country. Football fans have so far snapped up 2.45 million tickets to November’s World Cup in Doha, FIFA reported last month, which plans to make three million spots available in total.

What is soccer?

Soccer is known as football outside of North America. It is the most popular sport in the world.

Soccer is a team sport played by a team of 11 players against another team of 11 players on a field.

A soccer game consists of 2 teams playing two 45-minute halves, with “stoppage time” added on at the end of each half. Each team can have 11 players on the field at one time.  One of those players is the goalkeeper

A team is typically split into defenders, midfielders and forwards, though there is no restriction on players moving anywhere on the pitch.

What is Rugby?

Rugby is a contact team sport and one of the most popular sports in the world. The object of the game is to ground the ball behind the opponent’s try line, into what is called the in-goal area. Rugby is played both with the ball in hand and by kicking the ball.

The World Rugby organises the Rugby World Cup, which takes place every four years.

Rugby is played in many different variations, the most common being 15’s rugby, which simply means there are 15 players per team, with 2 teams playing against each other.

7’s – which is 7 players per team on the field, has also in the more recent years, become massively popular and was re-introduced in the 2016 Rio Olympics, as an official olympic sport.

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022 – dates confirmed for June 10-12 spectators allowed

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

February 21, 2022 – F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

Fantastic news – the dates have been announced for the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022. It will take place from June 10-12 this year. Spectators will be allowed.

The Grand Prix is one of the most challenging and punishing circuits on the F1 calendar, pitting drivers against some of the tightest corners and fastest straights around.

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

Initially held as the European Grand Prix in 2016, the Baku City Circuit hosted the first Azerbaijan Grand Prix a year later in one of the five street courses on the calendar in 2017.

Designed by architect Hermann Tilke, the circuit follows a series of right-angled turns into rapid flat-out sections which, before the introduction of new aerodynamics rules in 2016, pushed cars to speeds of over 360 km/h.

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022:

Comparable to the tight twists of Monaco – in the way that the track forces drivers to both commit to each turn while being aware of the perils of straying too close to the edge – the Baku City Circuit has been the site of numerous high-speed crashes.

Charles Leclerc learned that the hard way in 2019 by crashing at Turn 8 in qualifying. The section is the tightest on the Formula 1 calendar, and sees the cars work their way around Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city walls.

The FIFA Club World Cup is making a return for 2022 and we have all of the details you need to know regarding this upcoming tournament.

Chelsea will be the only representative from Europe after winning the Champions League during the 2020/21 season, with a Kai Havertz goal during their 1-0 win over Manchester City securing the title of European champions for only the second time in the club’s history.

Despite having played in the Club World Cup previously, the Blues are still yet to win the tournament having lost 1-0 to the Brazilian Serie A side Corinthians in the final of the 2012 competition.

Australia Formula 1

New Concept for Australia Formula 1 GP

blank

Australia Formula 1

December 10 2021 –

In a bid to promote local tourism, the Australian Grand Prix event will feature zones showcasing the very best of Victoria.

The Australian Grand Prix will return in 2022, marking its comeback after two COVID-19 cancelled events.

As always, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) strives to improve the event and in 2022 will see the introduction of the precincts, designed to enhance the fan experience.

Throughout the four-day event, the venue will be divided into five separate fan precincts with each showcasing a different Victorian region or tourist destination.

Unlike the Australian Open at the start of the year, crowds will be able to move between the precincts.

Each of these areas will offer unique experiences in a bid to boost economic growth across the state as it begins to move on from its latest pandemic lockdown by promoting regional tourism and investment.

The precincts are as follows, Melbourne, Phillip Island, Grampians, Yarra Valley, and the Great Ocean Road – each will celebrate Victoria through entertainment, culinary and cultural experiences, all of which will be inspired by its specific region.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager of Marketing and Experience, Arthur Gillion expressed that there is real excitement about the event returning.

He believes the precincts will further bolster the positive fan experience.

“There is an incredible sense of excitement and anticipation ahead of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix 2022,” he said.

“These new fan precincts will not only showcase our wonderful state, but they will also provide a brand-new way to experience April’s event.

“We’ve been hard at work reimagining this year’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and creating new and exciting fan experiences and cannot wait to see the world’s most exciting motorsport spectacle back to Victoria.

“Don’t miss your chance to live fast – Formula 1 is back!”

The 2022 edition of the Australian Grand Prix will see the debut of the tweaked circuit layout, designed to improve overtaking and action.

Visit Victoria CEO Brendan McClements believes there is no better state on earth to watch sporting events, particularly the Australian Grand Prix, and also thinks the precincts will add to the atmosphere.

“No one hosts a sporting and major event like Victoria, and the new fan precincts are a fantastic way to showcase the best of everything our state has to offer,” he said.

“From tasting tantalising food and renowned wine to music and live performance we want Formula 1 crowds to get a taste of Victoria’s vibrant and diverse scenes and be inspired to get out there and see the real thing for themselves.”

December 03 2021 –

Australian ‘Summer of Tennis 2022’ schedule announced, Australian Open from Jan 17

Tennis Australia announced its “Summer of Tennis” on Thursday, which would include a host of events across several states in the lead-up to the Australian Open 2022.

Ahead of the tournament, beginning officially on January 17, a total of 17 events will be held in the states of New South Wales (NSW), South Australia, and Victoria.

Among the warm-up tournaments announced was the ATP Cup, which was confirmed to be hosted by Sydney from January 1-9.

“There is no better place to kick off the season than in Australia and we look forward to seeing the fans out in force in January,” said ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi.

Other headline events include the Victorian Wheelchair open from January 8-12, and the Adelaide International women`s events beginning January 2.

Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said the line-up was designed to create numerous competition opportunities for some of the best players in the world.

“It`s incredibly important to have the world`s best players competing across the country, inspiring the next generation of players and growing interest and excitement in our sport,” he said.

The series of events is set to be one of Australia`s largest international events since it closed its borders due to the pandemic and would be a boon for crippled local economies.

Tiley said the pandemic has created a “massive challenge” for the event: “It`s why we waited as long as possible to secure optimal conditions for the players and fans in as many locations as we could.”

The qualifying round for the Australian Open would run from January 10-14 and the main event would run from Jan 17-30.

Tennis Australia has previously announced that unvaccinated players would not be permitted to compete in the 2022 Australian Open.
