October 26, 2021 –  Egypt has been preparing for a huge celebration to promote Luxor city as a major tourist destination.

Madbouly’s remarks came during his visit to Luxor to inspect a number of projects being implemented in the tourism, service, and development fields.

The prime minister said that the large projects that the state is currently implementing to revive a number of archaeological areas in Luxor will make this city an open museum that attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world.

The Prime Minister inspected the excavations under part of the building of the Church of the Virgin Mary, in which the Ministry of Antiquities found three distinct rams including one of the most magnificent statues of rams found in this site.

Madbouly and his accompanying delegation also inspected the Karnak Temple, where he listened to an explanation from Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled El-Anani, about the development work in the temple.

El-Anani explained that the Karnak Temples Visitors Center had been comprehensively developed, in terms of renewing paints and lighting, and floors.

The Prime Minister directed the completion of the works of renovating the tiles in the courtyards associated with the temple.

Madbouly also witnessed the restoration work of a ram’s head that was discovered as well as the restoration of a number of columns in the Karnak Temple.

El-Anani indicated that the restoration team also restored the largest known statue of King Tuthmosis II in front of the eighth edifice in the Karnak temple. The restoration work will be completed before the end of October.

El-Anani has also explained that the project to discover and prepare the Road of Rams in Luxor is one of the most important archaeological projects undertaken by the state in order to transform Luxor into the largest open museum in the world, by linking the temples of Karnak, Luxor, Mut and the ruins of ancient Thebes.

Holiday fair for individual Travel taking place in Amsterdam

blank

blank

October 12, 2021 – The Amsterdam holiday fair for special trips 2022 will take place on January 8 & 9, 2022.

The aim of this ‘holiday fair for special trips’ is to create an environment where mass tourism does not set the tone, but where quality and authenticity are selectively chosen!

At this special holiday fair you will not find tourist information stands, but almost exclusively specialized tour operators, who often offer a country or a type of travel and also know everything about
it! ‘Special’ means, in addition to going unfamiliar paths, – off the beaten track – also that your journey only starts in the country or area of arrival. They are mostly active holidays and not sitting or beach holidays.
‘Special’ also means that you are guided past tourist ‘highlights’ that you can get from a guide but through customization that get to know facets of a country that a connoisseur can only tell you.
Be surprised on two fantastic days where you also have the opportunity to choose from around 250 ‘live presentations’ about unknown parts of Europe and parts of the world that are often cheaper than you
think! ‘Special’ means: gaining refreshing new experiences!

Disney World Is Celebrating Its 50th Anniversary

hotel news

News from around the world

blank

On Oct. 1, 1971, Walt Disney World Resort welcomed guests to “The Most Magical Place on Earth” for the first time; 50 years later, “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” commemorates the decades of memories and ushers in a future of continued excitement with a spectacular combination of Disney nostalgia and new, over-the-top experiences. For five decades, millions of guests have visited the theme park resort to ride iconic attractions, see their favourite characters, and feel that unparalleled Disney magic.

Disney is celebrating its anniversary with an 18-month-long event, which kicked off this week with the grand opening of new night time spectaculars, restaurants, and a “Ratatouille”-themed ride. At Epcot, a recently expanded France pavilion offers a new, family-friendly attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and a tasty restaurant, La Crêperie de Paris. Also at Epcot, a new night time spectacular, “Harmonious,” celebrates the unifying power of Disney music and storytelling by highlighting beloved films that take place around the globe. The show uses fireworks, massive LED panels, choreographed fountains, and much more to breathe new life into the songs Disney fans know and love.

At Magic Kingdom Park, another incredible night time spectacular debuted on Oct. 1. “Disney Enchantment” takes guests on an inspiring and moving adventure featuring favourite stories through fireworks, music, lighting, and projections on Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A.. Over at Animal Kingdom, guests can find new daytime entertainment — “Disney KiteTails” — with flying windcatchers and kites depicting animals from Disney movies.

In all four theme parks, guests can spot the golden sculptures that make up the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection. And at night, each park’s icon transforms into a “Beacon of Magic,” illuminated in the “EARidescent” glow that’s shining on decorations, merchandise, Mickey and pals’ new celebratory outfits, and even food and beverage offerings during the event.
Speaking of food and beverage, there are plenty of delicious and delightful options across the resort, ranging from retro-inspired theme park classics to tasty new cocktails. At Magic Kingdom Park, guests can find treats influenced by 1970s attractions, like The Toad Burger inspired by Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, the Happy Haunts Milkshake inspired by the Haunted Mansion, and Squids Revenge inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Other 50th anniversary treats are also available across the theme parks, hotels, and Disney Springs. There’s even a new Magical Beacon Cocktail served at locations throughout Walt Disney World — the perfect drink to mark the occasion. Out-of-this-world Space 220 restaurant opened this month in Epcot, offering a stellar experience aboard the Centauri Space Station, and at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, guests can find the new Steakhouse 71 restaurant.

And there’s even more magic to come. Throughout the 50th anniversary celebration, guests can look forward to more exciting openings, including the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, set to open on March 1, 2022, and the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind indoor coaster, set to open at Epcot some point in 2022.

International Art Exhibition “Forever Is Now”

airline news

Travel news from around the world
More travel news

blank

“Forever Is Now” is the name of the international art exhibition at the Great Pyramids that will be held from 21 October till 7 November 2021. The exhibition will feature works of the world’s leading contemporary artists, while combining ancient heritage and contemporary art, showcasing how ancient Egypt has been a monumental source of inspiration for artists throughout history.

Forever Is Now is an international art exhibition that both reflects the profound, global influence of ancient Egypt and draws on the ongoing inclusiveness of contemporary cultural practices. Whether practiced by ancient Egyptians or by contemporary artists, the making of art permits one generation to bear witness of the present and speak to the next. It is an unrelenting undertaking that reflects humankind’s enduring talent for creating works that inspire the imagination, works that reveal the wonder of humanity itself, its tenacity and, through the arts, its unity. Forever Is Now will be cross-cultural and will showcase how ancient Egypt has been a monumental source of inspiration for artists throughout history.

‘I have always been in awe of this extraordinary ancient civilization that has influenced generations with discoveries in the sciences, arts, math, social justice, cultural development, and innovation,” said Nadine A. Ghaffar, French-Egyptian founder of Art D’Égypte. “It is a civilization that managed to invent and build monuments that we as human beings to this day cannot fathom and have not been able to replicate. Egyptian culture is a gift to humanity, and the purpose of this exhibition is to showcase these treasures in a dialogue with the contemporary on an international scale, to the rest of the world. Ancient Egypt has influenced artists from around the world, and so we bring the world to Egypt and Egypt to the world through art. It’s a privilege to stand at the foot of these monuments that have survived turmoil, wars, and pandemics, and have endured. This exhibition is a token of hope for humanity and a humble tribute to a civilization that stands the test of time.’

Forever Is Now is the first exhibition of its kind in the 4500-year history of the Pyramids of Giza. The exhibition represents a merging of ancient heritage and contemporary art at the oldest and last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which today survives as a UNESCO world heritage site. The exhibition involves some of the world’s leading experts and institutions, with centuries-worth of experience and knowledge on Egyptology, the archaeological history of the plateau, and the ancient history of the Great Pyramids of Giza & have hosted some of the strongest international and regional art exhibitions.

(Safe) comeback of the MICE/event industry

Upcoming mega events like the Expo Dubai or the World Travel Market in London, give proof that the global meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions or MICE industry celebrates a cautious comeback. Despite ongoing worries about booster vaccines and the delta variant of Covid-19, there are multiple ways to keep social mass gatherings secure for everyone.

It could have been the comeback summer for mega-events with real humans after a -year long hiatus. But neither the Euro football championships nor the Summer Olympics in Tokyo could keep their promises of holding safe games, unfortunately. The tournament’s final in London’s Wembley Stadium became a super-spreader amid 60,000 football aficionados, triggering a surge in the spread of the delta variant in the UK.

And Nippon saw despite a global sports spectacle sans fans a rebound of new COVID-19 infections too. Other major international events like the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos or the Paris air show had to be cancelled in 2021. By March 2020, the events industry had already lost $16.5bn, according to UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and the global tourism industry witness a fall of around 74% in international tourist arrival during the pandemic.

Good-bye zoom calls, hello conferences!
However these setbacks do not discourage the big shots of the global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) industry from going ahead with their very own plans in the coming months. Researchfive.com has reported the global MICE industry is anticipated to hit U$1,619.3 billion in the 2021–2028 period, growing from $1,007.2 billion in 2020 and representing a healthy 5.9% per year growth rate. Examples of upcoming events around the corner are:

  • The six month World Expo in Dubai will kick off on October 1st after the event had to be postponed last year due to the pandemic. Lasting until April 30 2022, Expo Dubai (slogan: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”) expects 25 million visitors to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). But Dr. Nasser Saïdi, a leading Dubai-based economist has judged this projection as “ somewhat too optimistic” amid ongoing travel restrictions globally and prevailing uncertainty among travellers.
  • The global real state congress MIPM in Cannes has held its first post-pandemic gathering of property experts and architecture industry in early September.
  • Under the slogan “Reconnect and Rebuild” the international air transport body IATA invites industry pundit and delegates to the Global Airport, Passenger & Accessibility Symposium to Prague, Czech Republic from 15 – 18 November.
  • The World Travel Market (WTM) in London hopes to inject to the global tourism industry a booster shot by hosting the hotel chains, airliners, and tour operators, and country pavilions from 1-3 November at ExCeL Centre London.

Keep it clean
All events have one thing in common: they hope to bank on the FOMO (fear of missing out) effect. In order to keep events safe and sound, several measures have to be implemented and monitored:

  • Functioning electronic devices which guarantee a smooth entry for delegates with the required QR code to proof they are tested negatively or vaccinated (in France even dining in a café or restaurant currently requires the QR code).
  • Obligation to wear a mask which covers mouth and nose at all times.
  • Placing of hand sanitizers at entry and exit points as well at every booth, seating or stage.
  • Installation of thermal cameras at arrival points to check the temperature of visitors before entry to the site.
  • Physical distancing measures. At least 1 meter or better 1.5 meters of distance shall be kept between visitors and delegates encouraged by markings on the floor and by appropriate seating schemes. These distancing rules shall be monitored by security personnel.
  • Limiting the numbers of visitors per day by implementing a pre-registration scheme available on smart phones.
  • Assurance of appropriate medical and emergency facilities onsite.
  • Strict control of health pass or vaccination status, e. g. in France only visitors with a negative antigenic test or proof a double vaccination with an approved dose by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Astra-Zeneca, or Johnson and Johnson (vaccinations by Sputnik or Sinopharm are not accepted in France or any other EU country)
  • Strict distancing of chairs and tables at kiosks, coffee shops, or restaurants onsite.

Aside from these relatively known (and hopefully respected) measures, other initiatives are supportive to keep the spread of the tenacious Sars-COV-2 virus too. These implementations include the technological support in keeping the pandemic at bay.

  • Contactless payment terminals at entry gates, eateries, and booths (in case instant product sales are possible), and for food delivery boys and girls who walk around and sell drinks and sandwiches.
  • A dense cleaning scheme which ensures that door handles, handrails, and buttons are disinfected on a regular basis.
  • Automatic door opening systems shall be used in order to limit the need to open doors by hand.
  • Regular cleaning of eateries and hygienic facilities at the MICE venue.

While these additional instruments translate into a higher cost base for arenas and event managers, they are the grease towards a step by step comeback of the MICE industry. Word of mouth by happy delegates will raise the reputation of a congress or cultural happening and ultimately lead to more delegates, sponsors, business partners in the post-pandemic era.

Uphill struggle
Michael Rennschmied, CEO of global conference organizer coliseum-online.com, which does both virtual and physical conferences, said that he expects events in the late 2021 and early 2022 to benefit mostly from their domestic markets due to ongoing travel restrictions. Example: the UAE remains on the UK’s amber list of countries which means that a visitor from London to the Expo Dubai can visit the event but he or she must quarantine upon return for seven days which makes the trip rather unattractive.

“If you want a high number of delegates (if permitted) you need to intensively source the local market (same country),” Rennschmied told Nets Switzerland. He added: “The era for online events is not over yet, but in 2022 everyone should go back to live events. As of now, there are too many uncertainties in relation to travel restrictions and quarantine requirements. Events work more on a local basis at the moment and on a lower scale than pre-pandemic.” In fact, Event organizers reported that 23.6% of their events in 2021 will include a virtual component and will be smaller local events. They will have less than 25 attendees who do not need to travel by air or stay in hotel rooms, according to AMEX.

The World Tourism Organization has found that of the total 10 billion pre-pandemic travels, around 14% accounted for business travel. Bearing in mind that business travelling is about “the art of the deal” which creates investments, jobs, and opportunities, the imminent rebound of the MICE industry can function like a nudge effect for the world economy after Covid-19.

The road to Qatar – The World Cup and more

airline news

Travel news from around the world

The England national football team took another step toward qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup when they drew with Poland in Warsaw’s Stadion Narodowy last week.

It looked as though a superb strike from captain Harry Kane in the 72nd minute would be enough to see England record their sixth successive victory, but it was not to be. A late goal from Damian Szymanski thwarted them in the dying seconds of injury time.

England should have won the game. They were in control for most of the match, but their failure to score a second goal to secure the win meant they were left open to an equalizer which is exactly what happened in stoppage time when Szymanski converted the perfect opportunity created by the Polish marksman, Robert Lewandowski.

Despite having the skills of Jack Grealish, England did not create enough opportunities. They desperately needed someone like Jadon Sancho to be brought on. Unfortunately, he was not available due to a thigh injury.

It was forecast that Sancho would be joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window of 2020. As it turned out, it was this summer before he left Dortmund to join the Red Devils for a fee of £73 million. His skills might have made all the difference to the outcome of the game against Poland had he been available. But that is life.

England is still almost certain to be journeying to Qatar. With 16 points from six games, four points ahead of second-placed Albania and five ahead of third-placed Poland, they are sitting pretty. They are yet to play Andorra away and Hungary at home in October. They then face Albania at home and San Marino in November, so their trip to Qatar looks all but set.

The fact that Qatar is hosting the World Cup finals is the perfect opportunity, not just for football fans but for travellers who enjoy visiting exotic locations around the world.

Qatar offers a superb fusion of both the old and new worlds. It is rapidly becoming one of the best and most exciting tourist destinations in the world.

Situated in the Persian Gulf, you will find a country with a shoreline of stunning sandy dunes and bustling, busy marketplaces amidst futuristic-looking skyscrapers and a sensational waterfront. Features include the Ras Abrouq rock formations plus the famous Al Thakira mangroves spreading across the country’s unique and fascinating peninsular.

The city of Doha is not just the perfect place to watch the World Cup unfold; it also provides a unique environment of sights and shopping opportunities for football widows and widowers.
