Lisbon Cruise – Silversea’s Silver Dawn is launched

Silversea Cruises has officially named its 10th ship, Silver Dawn, in Lisbon. Executives from Royal Caribbean Group®, Silversea Cruises, and Fincantieri, as well as local dignitaries and esteemed guests, celebrated the milestone with a formal ceremony and gala dinner. An expression of Silversea’s rapid expansion, Silver Dawn becomes the cruise line’s third new ship to debut in nine months. The launch of Silver Dawn also marks the debut of Otium, travel’s most indulgent new wellness programme, as well as the next iteration of Silversea’s S.A.L.T. culinary programme.

FIRST: THE NAMING CEREMONY MARKS SILVER DAWN’S OFFICIAL DEBUT

After Royal Caribbean Group’s customary bagpipe performance, which opened the formal naming ceremony, performers took to the stage, entertaining attendees with a performance that weaved a narrative from the 2021 launch of Silver Moon to the modern day and the launch of Silver Dawn. Singers recited the national anthems of the U.S.A., Italy, and Portugal, before a religious leader blessed the ship and dignitaries delivered speeches. The newly named Godmother of Silver Dawn, Nilou Motamed—an influential food and travel editor, tastemaker, and television personality—subsequently cut the ribbon to trigger a champagne bottle to smash on the ship’shull, signalling the end of the ceremony.

“Celebrating the naming of Silver Dawn in Lisbon marked an incredibly proud moment for all involved,” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “I thank and congratulate Roberto Martinoli and our entire team, including Captain Failla and thecrew, as well as everyone at Fincantieri, our ship building partners. Silver Dawn is a jewel in the Silversea fleet and speaks to Royal Caribbean Group’s commitment to delivering the best vacation experiences in a responsible way.”

“An evolution of our unique take on luxury, Silver Dawn is the third Silversea ship to be named in the last nine months,” said Roberto Martinoli, President & CEO, Silversea Cruises. “As well as S.A.L.T., our immersive culinary programme, Silver Dawn enriches guests’ travels with Otium, our indulgent new wellness programme, which is inspired by the ancient Roman lifestyle. She really is magnificent. I extend my gratitude to Jason Liberty and all involved at Royal Caribbean Group, as well as to the team at Silversea, Fincantieri, and Captain Failla and his crew—our most valuable asset. Moreover, I proudly welcome Nilou Motamed as the Godmother of Silver Dawn.”

NILOU MOTAMED: GODMOTHER OF SILVER DAWN

An Emmy-nominated television personality and former editor-in-chief of some of the world’s leading culinary brands, including Food & Wine and Epicurious, Nilou Motamed has been shaping the conversation in food and travel for more than 20 years. Born in Iran, raised in Paris and New York, Motamed is fluent in four languages — and believes “food is a language of its own, one in which everyone can find comfort, compassion, and community.” Her passion for culinary adventures and far-flung cuisines has found a perfect match in Silversea’s S.A.L.T. programme, which the New York resident first experienced with its launch in 2021.

“It’s a great honour to have been selected as the Godmother of Silver Dawn and to have been on board for her naming ceremony in Lisbon,” says Motamed. “Growing up in multiple countries has helped me recognize that one of our deepest common bonds, wherever we go, is food. Like many of Silversea’s guests, I always pair my cultural explorations with culinary ones. That’s why I’ve loved seeing the world through Silversea’s S.A.L.T. programme. I’ve dedicated my career to celebrating authentic, local cuisines and cultures. For me, nothing is more rewarding than connecting with people over a shared meal.”

“An authority in the world of food and drink, Nilou is a curious, intelligent traveller,” continues Martinoli. “Her mission to delve deeper into cultures through food, to truly understand places and their people, reflects that of Silversea’s culinary programme, S.A.L.T.. It is this strong spirit of discovery, this commitment to self-enrichment and complete cultural immersion, that makes Nilou the perfect Godmother for our newest ship. Aboard Silver Dawn, our guests will discover the world with purpose, while journeying in Silversea’s trademark level of comfort.”

3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel in 2022

3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel

April 14, 2022 – 3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel

Strong appetite for travel in Europe as over 3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel this spring and summer

  • Despite the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, European travel sentiment reaches a peak – 77% have travel plans between April and September 2022
  • Over half (56%) of Europeans planning a trip intend to visit another European country
  • 38% of travel-ready Europeans plan to take an overnight trip between June-July, and another 32% are targeting the August-September period

3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel

Despite the uncertainty caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the ongoing threat of COVID-19, the desire across Europe for intra-European travel is undoubtedly strong.

3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel and take a trip in the next six months, with Mediterranean destinations having the highest appeal. This is according to the latest research on “Monitoring Sentiment for Domestic and Intra-European Travel – Wave 11” by the European Travel Commission (ETC), which provides insights on Europeans’ short-term travel intentions and preferences during the COVID-19 pandemic1.

Summer 2022 promises strong intra-European travel

With summer approaching, an increasing share of Europeans (77%) are eager to travel between April and September 2022. Over half (56%) of them plan to visit another European country, while 31% choose domestic travel. Across all analysed markets, respondents from Italy, Spain, Poland, the UK, and Germany demonstrate the strongest optimism about taking a trip (>80%).

3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel: Travel intentions increase with age, rising from 69% among Gen Z (18-24 years old) to 83% among baby boomers (over 54 years old).

The survey results confirm that Europeans’ travel plans follow a seasonal pattern with sun and beach holidays (22%) being the preferred option for the coming months.

The interest in city breaks (15%) and vacations by the water or coast (15%) also remains steady. In line with these holiday preferences, the popularity of Mediterranean destinations grows: Spain is the most favoured destination among Europeans travelling abroad between April-September 2022, followed by Italy, France, Greece and Portugal.

As summer approaches, most Europeans with travel plans2 intend to take a 4-6-night (33%) or 7-9-night (27%) vacation. Only 25% will opt for trips of 10 nights or longer, mostly family travellers. On the other hand, couples strongly prefer micro-trips (up to 3 nights). No matter the length of the trip, one in two travellers will take a flight to reach their next destination.

Travel sentiment resilient despite ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and rising cost of living

Although the survey was conducted during the first weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Europeans’ travel sentiment and behaviour have not yet been affected by the conflict. Notably, the Polish, who neighbour Ukraine, maintain a stable, above-European-average travel sentiment; their planned length of stay and budgets remains consistent with data collected at the same time last year.

Furthermore, interest in Eastern European destinations is unaltered, reflecting the limited impact of the ongoing conflict on intra-European travel to date.

3 in 4 Europeans plan to travel: A rising share of European travellers are planning to spend €500-€1,500 (now 51%, +8% compared to the previous survey) with a respective drop in higher budgets (-8% for more than €2,000), potentially due to the growing concerns over inflation. At the same time, even though there is more certainty as to when and where the next trip will be, only 25% of travel-ready Europeans have fully booked, indicating a limited level of financial commitment. The European travel sector must ensure it is targeting last-minute holidaymakers this summer.

COVID-19 concerns diminish, yet consistent health precautions for travel remain essential

As COVID-19 travel restrictions are eased and Europeans learn how to live amidst the pandemic, the share of those realising their original travel plans continues to increase steadily (now 27%, compared to 16% in December 2021).

Flexibility in cancellation policies (14%) and freedom from restrictions (13%) are now the top factors boosting respondents’ confidence in planning their next trip within Europe. Getting vaccinated for COVID-19 falls to third place since most Europeans have already taken this precaution.

Nonetheless, respondents acknowledge that COVID-19 remains a source of concern when travelling; 17% of travel-ready Europeans are worried about quarantine measures and another 15% about possible changes in travel restrictions.

At the same time, Europeans with short-term travel plans acknowledge the importance of strict health protocols, which provide a sense of safety to 37% of them, and peace of mind to relax and enjoy their trip to another 30%.

Qantas Offers Nonstop Luxury to London and New York 2026

Qantas and Jetstar offer new flights Sydney to India and Korea from September 14

airline news

Qantas and Jetstar

April 14, 2022 – QANTAS AND JETSTAR EXPAND SYDNEY GATEWAY WITH NEW DIRECT FLIGHTS TO INDIA AND KOREA

  • Qantas to launch new direct route between Sydney and Bengaluru (Bangalore) in southern India.
  • Planned codeshare agreement with India’s largest domestic airline, IndiGo, to provide direct connections to 50 cities; new free trade agreement expected to strengthen demand.
  • Qantas and Jetstar to both launch new direct flights between Sydney and Seoul.

Qantas and Jetstar will grow their international network out of Sydney, with new direct routes to India and Korea taking off this year, accelerating New South Wales’ post-COVID tourism recovery.

Sydney to Bengaluru (Bangalore) direct

Qantas and Jetstar

Qantas will operate four weekly return flights from Sydney to Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore) from 14 September, using its widebody Airbus A330 aircraft.

These will be the first non-stop flights between Australia and southern India by any airline and will cut almost three hours off the current fastest travel time from Sydney to Bengaluru, a growing technology and financial services hub.

Qantas and Jetstar: With a population of 13 million people, the Bengaluru community has strong connections to Australia for both business travel and people visiting friends and relatives. These trade connections are expected to strengthen following the recent announcement of the Australia-India free trade agreement.

Qantas will continue to operate up to five flights a week between Melbourne and Delhi, making it the only airline offering direct flights between Australia and both northern and southern India.

Planned codeshare agreement set to open up India

Qantas intends to enter into a codeshare agreement with IndiGo, India’s largest domestic carrier, which will give customers improved one-stop access to more than 50 Indian cities.

Qantas and Jetstar: The proposed agreement will mean Qantas passengers can transit seamlessly from Qantas flights in Bengaluru, Delhi, or Singapore onto IndiGo services to other major Indian cities as well as smaller ones such as Pune and Goa.

Under the planned agreement, Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn and redeem points on connecting IndiGo flights (QF code only) and IndiGo will recognise Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits for tiered members (Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One) including priority check-in, additional baggage allowance and priority baggage.

Qantas customers travelling on IndiGo will enjoy the same baggage allowance for the entire journey as well as complimentary food and drinks.

The partnership will extend to Jetstar customers who will be able to book connecting flights on IndiGo services through its Jetstar Connect platform on jetstar.com from late April.

New direct services to South Korea

Qantas and Jetstar will both launch direct flights to Seoul’s Incheon International Airport later this year, providing business, premium leisure and low-cost travel options between Australia and Korea.

Jetstar will become the only low-cost carrier to fly direct to South Korea from Sydney, with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flights operating from 2 November 2022 three times per week.

Qantas will begin direct flights between Sydney and Seoul from 10 December 2022 with its A330 aircraft, marking the first Qantas scheduled service to Seoul since January 2008.

The launch of these new direct services recognises the increasing popularity of South Korea as a must-see destination for Australians, with its rich cultural history, vibrant nightlife, and incredible food. In return, South Korean travellers – who pre-COVID travelled more frequently than any other nation in the Asia Pacific – consistently rank Australia as the top destination they want to visit.

Qantas Group international restart

Since Australia’s borders re-opened last November, led by New South Wales, the Qantas Group has carried almost 500,000 passengers on its international services across 27 international routes, with another six routes restarting next week.

Group international capacity is expected to reach more than 40 per cent of pre-COVID capacity in April.

Qantas has now added six new overseas routes in the past six months, including Perth-Rome and Melbourne-Delhi, Melbourne-Dallas Fort-Worth and Darwin-Dili as it taps into new markets.

All three new routes announced today are being supported by the NSW Aviation Attraction Fund, which is co-funded by the State Government and Sydney Airport. Kempegowda International Airport has also supported Qantas’ Sydney-Bengaluru flights.

Check out the Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao

Check out the Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao

Check out the Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao

Did you know that there is a famous modern art museum in the world, built in an industrial port city in 1997? , which has been called “the most important piece of architecture since 1980? The architect drew his inspiration from the famous painting by Picasso “The Accordionist”.

Amazing, right?

Shimmering titanium Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao is one of modern architecture’s most iconic buildings. It played a major role in helping to lift Bilbao out of its post industrial depression and into the 21st century – and with sensation.

It sparked the city’s inspired regeneration, stimulated further development and placed Bilbao firmly in the international art and tourism spotlight.

Some might say that structure overwhelms function here and that the museum is more famous for its architecture than its content. But Canadian architect Frank Gehry’s inspired use of flowing canopies, cliffs, promontories, ship shapes, towers and flying fins is irresistible.

Gehry designed the Guggenheim Art Museum with historical and geographical contexts in mind. The site was an industrial wasteland, part of Bilbao’s wretched and decaying warehouse district on the banks of the Ría del Nervión. The city’s historical industries of shipbuilding and fishing reflected Gehry’s own interests, not least his engagement with industrial materials in previous works. The titanium tiles that sheathe most of the building like giant herring scales are said to have been inspired by the architect’s childhood fascination with fish.

Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao

Designed by Canadian American architect Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao building represents a magnificent example of the most ground breaking 20th-century architecture. With 24,000 m2, of which 9.000 are dedicated to exhibition space, the Museum represents an architectural landmark of audacious configuration and innovating design, providing a seductive backdrop for the art exhibited in it.

Altogether, Gehry’s design creates a spectacular sculpture-like structure, perfectly integrated within Bilbao’s urban pattern and its surrounding area.

Frank Gehry is considered one of the most relevant and influential architects in the world. He is internationally renowned for his unique designs that incorporate new shapes and materials, and is especially sensitive towards his buildings’ surroundings. The Guggenheim Art Museum in Bilbao is one of Frank Gehry’s most celebrated works.

Set on the edge of the Nervión River in Bilbao‭, ‬Spain, the Guggenheim Museum is a fusion of complex‭, ‬swirling forms and captivating materiality that responds to an intricate program and an industrial urban context‭. ‬With over a hundred exhibitions and more than ten million visitors to its recognition‭, ‬Frank Gehry‮’‬s Guggenheim Museum Bilbao not only changed the way that architects and people think about museums, but also boosted Bilbao’s economy with its astounding success‭.‭ ‬In fact‭, ‬the phenomenon of a city‮’‬s transformation following the construction of a significant piece of architecture is now referred to as the‭ ‬‮“‬Bilbao Effect‭.‬‮”‬‭ ‬Twenty years on, the Museum continues to challenge assumptions about the connections between art and architecture‭ today.

In 1991‭, ‬the Basque government proposed to the Solomon R‭. ‬Guggenheim Foundation that it fund a Guggenheim museum to be built in Bilbao‮’‬s dilapidated port area‭, ‬once the city‮’‬s main source of income‭. ‬Appropriately‭, ‬the museum became part of a larger redevelopment plan that was meant to renew and modernize the industrial town‭. ‬Almost immediately after its opening in 1997‭, ‬the Guggenheim Bilbao became a popular tourist attraction‭, ‬drawing visitors from around the world‭. ‬

The riverside site is on the northern edge of the city center‭. ‬A road and railway line is to the south‭, ‬the river to the north‭, ‬and the concrete structure of the Salve Bridge to the east‭. ‬Making a tangible physical connection with the city‭, ‬the building circulates and extrudes around the Salve Bridge‭, ‬creates a curved riverside promenade‭, ‬and forms a generous new public plaza on the south side of the site where the city grid ends‭. ‬The building alludes landscapes‭, ‬such as the narrow passageway to the main entrance hall reminiscent of a gorge‭, or the curved walkway and water features in response to the Nervión River‭. ‬

Although the metallic form of the exterior looks almost floral from above‭, ‬from the ground the building more closely resembles a boat‭, ‬evoking the past industrial life of the port of Bilbao‭. ‬Constructed of titanium‭, ‬limestone‭, ‬and glass‭, ‬the seemingly random curves of the exterior are designed to catch the light and react to the sun and the weather‭.  ‬Fixing clips make a shallow central dent in each of the‭ .‬38mm titanium tiles‭, ‬making the surface appear to ripple in the changing light and giving an extraordinary iridescence to the overall composition‭. ‬

Because of their mathematical intricacy‭, ‬the twisting curves were designed using a 3-D design software called CATIA‭, ‬which allows for complex designs and calculations that would not have been possible a few years ago‭. ‬Essentially‭, ‬the software digitizes points on the edges‭, ‬surfaces‭, ‬and intersections of Gehry‮’‬s hand-built models to construct on-screen models that can then be manipulated in the manner of animated cartoons‭. ‬

The building‮’‬s walls and ceilings are load-bearing‭, ‬containing an internal structure of metal rods that form grids with triangles‭. ‬CATIA calculated the number of bars required in each location‭, ‬as well as the bars‮’‬‭ ‬positions and orientations‭. ‬In addition to this structure‭, ‬the walls and ceilings have several insulating layers and an outer coating of titanium‭. ‬Each piece is exclusive to its location‭, ‬determined by the CATIA software‭. ‬

The large‭, ‬light-filled atrium serves as the organizing center of the museum‭, ‬distributing 11,000‭ ‬square meters of exhibition space over nineteen galleries‭. ‬Ten of these galleries follow a classic orthogonal plan that can be identified from the exterior by a limestone finish‭. ‬The remaining nine galleries are identified from the outside by swirling organic forms clad in titanium‭. ‬The largest gallery is 30‭ ‬meters wide and 130‭ ‬meters long and houses a permanent installation called‭ ‬‮“‬The Matter of Time‮”‬‭ ‬by Richard Serra‭.‬

The socio-economic impact of the museum has been astounding‭. ‬During the first three years of operation‭, ‬almost 4‭ ‬million tourists visited the museum‮—‬generating about 500‭ ‬million in profit‭. ‬Furthermore‭, ‬the money visitors spent on hotels‭, ‬restaurants‭, ‬shops and transport collected over 100‭ ‬million in taxes‭, ‬which more than offset the cost of the building‭. ‬‬However‭, ‬the‭ ‬promise of the ‮“‬Bilbao Effect‮”‬‭ also ‬sparked a building boom in “statement” architecture across the globe, one which proved imprudent in the wake of the recent economic crisis. Nevertheless, the Museum remains an iconic structure renowned for its complexity and form.

Explore the street food markets in Marrakesh

Explore the street food markets in Marrakesh

Explore the street food markets in Marrakesh

You can find all kinds of street food day and night across Morocco – and Marrakech is no exception. Here, we explore the best street food in the city, from sandwiches and pastries to freshly squeezed juice and more exotic dishes.

It’s time to venture off in to the square, stopping at four food stalls, all personally tested and recommended by the team.

Depending on guests’ dietary preferences, they may have the opportunity to sample a traditional Marrakchi dish cooked underground on the coals that heat the hammam.

Or tuck in to a sweet-savoury dish typically consumed during Ramadan.

Try the hundred kinds of olives, taste the Marrakchi olive oil, honey…

And of course for the more daring, sheep’s tongue or cheek. If a must-try list includes snails, take a pit stop at the snail stalls and slurp back the flavourful broth.

Explore the street food markets in Marrakesh

Particularly popular in Marrakech, snails can be found everywhere in the square and marketplace Jemaa El-Fnaa. This flavoursome broth is supposed to have restorative and digestive benefits. This is almost reason enough to try it. If that weren’t tempting enough, however, these distinctive chocolate-brown snails are tender with a delicious savoury taste. What’s more, they are served in a broth bursting with flavours and spices.

The oranges found in Morocco are famous worldwide, so it’s no surprise that you can find some of the best orange juice on the streets of Marrakech. They are sourced from the countless orange trees in the limitless alleys and courtyards in the city.

You can get a full glass of this refreshing, tangy juice, perfect for recovering after a long day of exploring in the sun. Also, it’s a must when wandering through Jemaa El-Fnaa.

Originating in Fez, but also plentiful on the streets of Marrakech, b’stilla is a special pie with layers of paper-thin pastry. It is traditionally stuffed with pigeon meat, almonds, eggs and lots of fresh spices. Nowadays, you can also find this pastry stuffed with fillings such as chicken or fish.

Often eaten as a starter, b’stilla offers a combination of sweet and salty and a crisp but doughy texture. For a taste of authentic Morocco, be sure to pick up one or two of these little pastries from a street seller.

This traditional Moroccan soup can be found all year round, but it’s particularly popular during Ramadan and one of the first things eaten to break the fast. This flavoursome, golden-coloured soup is rich with tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas and sometimes noodles, with meat an occasional addition.

You can find this served in little cups or bowls out on the street, and it’s a popular option sure to please even the fussiest eaters.

Although many people may be a little repulsed by this at first, try to be open-minded and sample a popular delicacy on the streets of Marrakech. Try a mixed plate of offal, tongue, head scrapings and a bit of the rest of the sheep. The whole head costs a little bit more but makes quite a meal. While it’s not a roadside snack you’d find in Western countries, you’ll find more than one stall in Marrakech offering this delicacy.

Unusual yet delicious, sheep’s head is a definite recommendation for the more adventurous foodie.

Chebakia is a Moroccan sesame cookie, moulded into a flower-like shape and fried before it is coated with masses of syrup or honey. Extremely sweet and addictive, these delicious sugary delights are a must-try.

It’s a favourite during Ramadan, and households often produce buckets full of these treats each year. Buying some from the streets is recommended – the factory-made versions simply don’t compare.

Hungary travel restrictions

April 13, 2022 – Greece travel restrictions

Greece is to remove all remaining Covid-related travel restrictions on 2 May, in time for its peak summer tourist season. The nation joins a list of 15 other European countries, including Sweden, Madeira and Cyprus, which have dropped entry rules as infection rates stabilise.

Greece travel restrictions – To remove all remaining travel restrictions

The Mediterranean country is expecting high numbers of visitors this year, with officials predicting revenues reaching 80% of 2019 levels, a record year before the pandemic brought travel to a halt.

Measures to be removed include vaccine certificates, recovery certificates and the requirement to wear masks in indoor public places from next month.

Greece’s Minister for Health, Thanos Plevris said that Covid had stabilised in Greece, allowing the country to proceed with the suspension of the protection measures, but he emphasised that the measure were being suspended, not abolished, and that the rules would be reviewed in September.

Travellers will no longer be required to take a pre-travel test, quarantine or provide proof of vaccination to enter the country. On the ground, vistors will no longer have to wear a mask in indoor spaces such as hotel lobbies, or show vaccine certificates to gain entry to certain venues.

Covid infections in the country have fallen in recent weeks, with authorities recording 15,000 infections and 64 deaths on 12 April. Out of a population of 11 million, some 72% are fully vaccinated.

Greece’s summer tourism season typically begins after the Orthodox Easter, which this year falls on 24 April.

April 12, 2022 –  Fujairah Beach Resort

Emaar Hospitality Group has announced it will bring its opulent Palace brand to Fujairah. The opening of Palace Beach Resort Fujairah this quarter comes as part of the Dubai group’s expansion programme in the emirate.

Emaar Palace Fujairah Beach Resort to open in 2022

Emaar has already opened the Address Beach Resort Fujairah, which marked its debut in the emirate. The upcoming Palace Beach Resort Fujairah looks to continue this success.

Emaar Hospitality Group head of hospitality Mark Kirby explained: “Emaar Hospitality Group is setting its sights on the leading destinations within the UAE and this resort will mark its second opening in this Emirate. This is an important milestone in our journey, as we further expand our luxury portfolio with the country to cater to international visitors and residents of the UAE who have grown to know and love our brand.”

Palace Beach Resort facilities
The resort will feature 167 rooms and suites set by the beachfront. It will also feature its own kids club and a spa. Food and beverage wise, there will be Ewaan for Arabic and international dining, along with Al Bayt Lounge.

Kirby added: “With its majestic landscape combined with a rich heritage, Fujairah is fast emerging as a tourist haven that lures the most discerning travellers. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience premium luxury at Palace Beach Resort Fujairah.”

Emaar Hospitality Group on the move
A Dubai-born brand and part of the wider Emaar company, Emaar Hospitality Group, in recent years, has started to move outside its base emirate.

Emaar Hospitality Group has an intrinsic connection to Dubai. In the glistening heart of Dubai Downtown stand the likes of Address Sky View, Palace Downtown and Address Fountain Views, all Emaar properties that come together to create an iconic postcard cover.

Fujairah Beach Resort – Properties such as the Palace Beach Resort Fujairah, Vida Bahrain and Address Istanbul mark the group’s expansion outside of Dubai.

In an interview with Hotelier Middle East, in November 2021, Kirby explained: He said: “I don’t think there’s a sudden explosion of development. I think Emaar has always had a very well thought out plan. Unlike some global hotel companies, we’re not wanting to massively grow. It’s all about strategic growth. Address is a precious brand. It’s a homegrown brand and we have to treat it with care. We’re careful with who we partner with and we have to protect the brand values. Yes, it looks like a sudden explosion of openings, but it’s been planned for some time.”

April 12, 2022 – Color Canyon Safari Egypt

A jeep safari into the desert is fun and adventure. We’ll drive in 4×4 vehicles for two hours from Sharm El Sheikh to Nuweiba.

The landscape is amazing with impressive sandstone mountains along the north-south road which connects the different resort cities along the coast. We reach the port of Nuweiba and turn into the desert interior.

Color canyon safari

For 40 minutes we drive on dirt roads until we reach the limestone plateau where an incredible view awaits us. On the white chalk path we slide down some 250 meters until we reach the entrance of the canyon. Shaped by the natural powers of nature for thousands of years, the narrow canyon is a piece of art with its natural aquarelle paintings and sandstone erosions – and has holds some surprises.

After our Color Canyon Safari we drive to the coastal town Nuweiba where we enjoy lunch at a beach restaurant overlooking the Aqaba gulf. You hav the option to swim or snorkel for a while. We’ll end our trip with a free tour in Dahab, which lies on the coast midway between Nuweiba and Sharm el Sheikh.

First Cruise Ship Set to Return to Canada as Country Reopens Cruising After Two-Year Absence

Holland America Line’s Koningsdam Calls at Victoria and Vancouver April 9 and 10 with local governments holding celebratory events

Holland America Line will be the first cruise line to return to Canadian cruising following a more than two year industrywide pause due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Koningsdam will call at Victoria, British Columbia, Saturday, April 9, restarting the cruise industry in Canada. The following day the ship will end its current seven-day cruise at Port of Vancouver, its homeport for the summer Alaska season.

Koningsdam

Holland America Line’s Koningsdam to be first ship to cruise Canada in more than two years.

“We are thrilled to be the first cruise line back into Canada after such a long absence, and we look forward to celebrating a great moment for everyone who loves to travel and for those in Canada and Alaska whose livelihoods depend on tourism,” said Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line. “Holland America Line has a robust schedule of cruises that explore Canadian ports on both coasts with Alaska, Hawaii, transatlantic and Canada and New England itineraries.”

Koningsdam’s call at Victoria marks 905 days since a cruise ship has visited the port, and it also will be a maiden call for the ship. To mark the milestones, Antorcha and local government officials will be on hand in both Victoria and Vancouver to celebrate the return to Canadian cruising and address the importance Canada and Alaska to Holland America Line.

In 2022, six Holland America Line ships will call at Victoria and Vancouver for the Alaska cruise season. In total, the six ships will make 45 calls at Victoria and bring nearly 75,000 guests to the port, and 76 cruises begin or end at Vancouver, welcoming approximately 140,000 guests.

For Canada and New England cruising on the East Coast, two ships return in May and cruise between Boston, Massachusetts, and Quebec City or Montreal, Quebec. Nieuw Statendam and Zaandam offer itineraries ranging from seven to 24 days to more than 12 Canadian ports.

In total for 2022, Holland America Line operates 141 cruises on eight ships in Canada with more than 250,000 guests visiting both coasts.

Holland America Line has been exploring the world since 1873 and was the first cruise line to offer adventures to Alaska and the Yukon nearly 75 years ago. Its fleet of premium ships visits nearly 400 ports in 114 countries around the world, offering an ideal mid-sized ship experience. A third Pinnacle-class ship, Rotterdam, joined the fleet in July 2021.

The leader in premium cruising, Holland America Line’s ships feature innovative initiatives and a diverse range of enriching experiences focused on destination exploration and personalized travel. The best live music at sea fills each evening at Music Walk, and dining venues feature exclusive selections from Holland America Line’s esteemed Culinary Council of world-famous chefs.

include voyages to Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Israel and more:
·    Seven-day voyages between Athens and Istanbul to some of the most popular destinations in the Greek Isles and Turkish coast beginning April 17, 2022. Numerous departures through twin itineraries invite combinations with Mykonos and Ephesus in one direction, and Santorini and Bodrum in the other.
·    Week-long Holy Land voyages between Athens and Haifa (Tel Aviv), the gateway to biblical and historical sites of Israel.
·    Seven-day sailings between Venice and Athens, visiting charming towns in Greece and along the Adriatic Sea, including the Croatian cities of Dubrovnik and Zadar in one direction and Sibenik and Kotor, Montenegro on the way back.
·    Guests may combine seven-day voyages into 14-day sailings to elevate their Seabourn experience and explore even more of the region, as well as receive additional savings of up to 15 percent.

“Everyone is drawn to a different part of the world for their own particular reasons, but there is no question that the Eastern Mediterranean has long been a favorite of Seabourn guests,” said Josh Leibowitz, president of Seabourn. “From beautiful beaches to fascinating culture, history and cuisine, guests sailing on Seabourn Encore will find many interesting sites to explore at nearly every turn.”

Return to Turkey
The season will mark Seabourn’s return to Turkey for the first time since 2016, and the line couldn’t be more excited. The itineraries will open guests’ eyes to sunny destinations filled with natural beauty and cultural wonders in the region, including:
·    The popular resort town of Cesme, dominated by a medieval castle and the site of a boutique hotel that was once an Ottoman caravanserai dating from 1528
·    Bodrum, with a picturesque harbor bobbing with traditional wood-varnished sailboats, streets dotted with shops, and the majestic tomb of King Mausolus
·    Kusadasi, whose old quarter is a picturesque maze of winding streets and houses adorned with flowers and birdcages
·    Seabourn’s signature complimentary “Evening at Ephesus,” a private classical concert in the ancient ruins under the stars that became a favorite for guests
·    Seabourn Encore’s August 7-14, 2022 voyage will feature internationally acclaimed classical singing sensation Jonathan Antoine, who will perform at the line’s signature “Evening at Ephesus” event.
